It's 6:05PM on the Superstation and it's Saturday Night
Where's Jim? He's not here. Filling in on this very special edition is the one and only David Crockett
Tony and David opened the show with an update on Jimmy Snuka. Jimmy suffered a mild concussion and can't travel, but vowed to be back next week to address the fans. Tony then welcomed out the NWA champion, Macho Man Randy Savage.
Macho Man said he's been traveling the world and defending the title against some of the best, but he's still "the cream of the crop, and the cream stays at the top". But he's there to scout some potential threats because a champion's work is never done and the Macho Man never sleeps.
And we go to the ring for JIM Cornette's introduction of the Midnight Express....except JC says the competition is too easy tonight, so he gave them the night off! Instead Mr Hughes will wrestle a handicap match. A very frustrated MARTY JANNETTY and an excited Jake Milliman. Marty insisted Milliman let him start (and muttered "and never tag out" behind Jake's back).
- Mr Hughes (barely) beat Marty Jannetty and Jake Milliman. Marty had Hughes rocked early and Hughes had to bail. It looked like Marty may pull the upset by himself, but he got in trouble and, being a tag team specialist, tagged out on instinct. Not long after Milliman ate the Spike Slam for the pin.
World tag team champions Road Warriors and Paul Ellering came out to talk to Tony and David. As David grinned ear to ear Paul said it seemed like some people have forgotten "it's not nice to fool with the Legion Of Doom. And it's very bad for your health besides". Hawk said they heard a challenge last week by two "neo maxie zoom dweebies and took the liberty of signing an open contract." And with that, we cue the music of Disco Inferno.
Inferno and Regal had to be practically pushed through the curtain and tried to run but were caught by the Warriors.
- The Road Warriors beat Disco Inferno and Steve Regal with the Doomsday Device on Disco. Inferno and Regal surprisingly got some offense after a brutal beating in the opening minutes. But they never had the champs in real trouble and, as David cackled like a madman, Disco took the Doomsday Device while Regal wisely chose not to try to break the pin.
Tony interviewed Ivan Koloff. Koloff said the Warriors will not look so impressive when they face his Bolsheviks in their upcoming title match and Magnum TA will not sound so tough next week when he faces Ivan in Magnum's first and only US title defense. Then all but one major title will belong to the Russians "and we have plans for the world title too".
- Vader defeated Johnny Mantell in less than a minute with a release power bomb. Vader jumped at the bell and Mantell got no offense.
After the match Vader said he's not leaving the ring until someone can make him leave.
Out come two referees: tossed out like rag dolls. Three members of security: never even made it through the ropes. George South, Jake Milliman: seriously? THE FANTASTICS: dropkick by Bobby, dropkick by Tommy, Vader is rocked but does not fall. Bobby to the top, Tommy launches him in a Rocket Launcher on the standing Vader. Vader catches Bobby and throws him back on Tommy. A pair of power bombs, he stacked them in the corner, and Vader Bomb to both men!
Out comes world champion Randy Savage straight to the top rope. Vader turns and takes the flying axe handle. He's down to one knee. Savage with another and Vader reels over to the ropes. Jabs and elbow smashes by Savage. Randy takes a running start and a clothesline sends Vader over the top rope! Vader lands on his feet!
Randy climbs the top rope and is ready to jump but here come the police. A dozen cops stand between Vader and Savage..... "AND FANS, WE ARE OUTTA TIME!"
*Yeah, if you wondered, the Fantastics are on their way out of the territory.

Live (to tape) from Atlanta.... It's Saturday Night! With Tony Schiavone and David Crockett
The show opened with Tony announcing that, due to his actions last week, Big Van Vader has been barred from the building. After a rundown of the scheduled events, David throws it to the ring.
- Barry Windham beat George South with the black glove claw. South gave it another try against Windham and actually got in a few moves this time. Barry shut him down and won with the claw, clearly a shot at Blackjack.
After the match Windham joined Tony and David for comments. Barry said as far as he's concerned he's not world champ right now thanks entirely to Blackjack and Mulligan got in his way on purpose to keep him from doing something "the old man" could never do, and that's become the number one man in the sport. Barry said he'd love nothing more than a match with Mulligan to show him the student has become the master. AND on cue, out came Blackjack to accept the challenge and inform Barry he'd be there next week to get things straightened out.
- Harley Race won by countout over Johnny Saint. Saint gave Harley all he could handle, using his quickness to full advantage. No matter what Race did, Saint kept kicking out. Eventually Race tossed him to the floor, followed, and gave Saint a piledriver he couldn't get up from.
Race talked to Tony and David after the match and said that's a reminder to everyone that Race is still around and as dangerous as ever. And, since interruptions are the theme of the day, out came JACK and JERRY BRISCO. Jack said Harley is still there, and now they're here too. And they were just in the back watching that display against Saint and it's beneath a former champion like Race. Jack said they're no strangers to each other, and the Brisoco brothers have business in the ring right now, but any time Harley wants to step in the ring and try to pull that stunt again, he knows where to find him.
- Jack and Jerry Brisco beat The Heavenly Bodies when Jack put away Stan via figure four. The Bodies have been losing more than winning here, but they never put on a dull match. The Briscos started hot, but Tom took over on Jerry and they had him in trouble. Finally Jerry made the hot tag and Jack came in to clean house. Jerry kept Tom at bay while Jack locked in the figure four for the win.
Tony interviewed Jimmy Snuka. Snuka said he's been here for a while and been loyal to his friend Brody but all he has to show for it is a busted head and bruises. Snuka said he wants more and next week when Brody and Abdullah face each other in a no disqualification match the Superfly will be there to make sure everything goes the right way "and then, the Superfly will get what he wants and that spotlight will shine so bright it will burn Abdullah, Superstar, JJ, and everyone else in the way".
- The Midnight Express defeat The Rock n Roll Express when Bobby pinned Morton. The RnR find themselves in a slump for the first time. A tremendous match ended when Ricky just couldn't manage to make the tag out to Robert and got caught in the ring. Cornette held Robert's leg from the floor as Bobby pinned Ricky with the Alabama Jam.
- Magnum TA pinned Ivan Koloff to defend the US championship. Ivan took Magnum to the absolute limit but TA came back strong and hit his signature belly to belly suplex out of nowhere to defend the title.

WORLDWIDE the missing show....because I forgot to post it last week. Speical episode featuring the Golden State territory. with your hosts, Gordon Solie and Bob Caudle The Golden State Showdown -Johnny Valentine defeated Joe Blanchard with the Atomic Skullcrusher.Valentine dominated the match en route to a fairly lop sided victory. - Golden Greek Jim Londos defeated Gorgeous George.
George controlled a good portion of the bout, but Londos would not submit or be pinned. The Greek fought back from the spinning toe hold to hit a pair of crotch lift and slams for the pinfall victory. Londos extended his hand in sportsmanship after the bell, but George would have none of it and walked away. -Killer Kowalski beat Bobo Brazil with the Kowalski Claw.
A very even and closely contested match took place between two of the top men in the territory. In the end Kowalski used the bombs away for a near fall, with Bobo barely kicking out before the referee counted to three. Kowalski immeditately went to the claw for the win. After the bout Gordon interviewed Kowalski. The Killer said he had proven himself the top man in the territory, which in his mind makes him the top of the entire world of professional wrestling. He made an official challenge to face the winner of the Thesz/Hutton main event to prove his superiority. - Bull Curry pinned Pampero Firpo after a series of punches.
Anyone with any sense knew this one would not be a clean, scientific bout that took place in the center of the ring. In fact, they spent as much time on the floor outside of the ring as they did inside it. And when they were inside the ring the referee pretty much ran out of breath issuing warning they wouldn't heed anyway. Curry won the war of attrition after a flurry of punches that serves as a primitive version of a "finisher". Before the main event Gordon and Bob were joined by Freddie Blassie. Bob said Kowalski is going to have some competition in trying for the next title opportunity because the former Pacific Champion has returned from the Orient. Blassie said there is no competition because everyone knows Blassie is the king of men. Thesz knows it, Hutton knows it, and anyone stupid enough to doubt it can get in the ring and find out. Blassie excused Gordon and Bob and said he was going down to take a seat ringside. - Lou Thesz won a great match over Dick Hutton to defend the Pacific heavyweight championship.
Hutton pushed Thesz to the absolute limit, even once locking in the abdominal stretch and forcing Thesz to reach for the ropes to break the hold. However, he just did not have the putaway power needed to get the job done and Thesz came back with a series of dropkicks and the Thesz Press for the pin. After the match Killer Kowalski got in the ring to confront the champ, but he was cut off by Freddie Blassie. As Blassie and Kowalski argued and the referee tried to separate them, Thesz threw up his hands and simply walked away.

Once again, here's Tony Schivone and David Crockett on Saturday night! The show began with the brawl between BRUISER BRODY and ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER raging at ringside as the referee tried desperately to get them in the ring while also attempting to not get caught in the crossfire. Abdullah grabbed a chair right out from under a fan and tried to hit Brody, but Brody booted it right back into Abby's face. The Butcher reeled and rolled into the ring. The ref called for the bell and the match was underway. - Bruiser Brody defeated Abdullah The Butcher in a no disqualification match.A wild and violent match ended when Brody finally knocked the fork out of Abdullah's hand and used it on the head of the Butcher. Abby fell and Brody followed with the big jumping knee drop to secure the victory.Following the match JJ Dillon jumped on Brody but JIMMY SNUKA ran out and gave JJ a jumping head butt to take him out. Snuka then went to the top rope and delivered a Superfly Splash to Abdullah. Then, without warning, Snuka spun Brody around and took him down with a backbreaker before going to the top rope and hitting another Superlfy Splash to his apparently now former friend. The referee tried to stop Snuka and got chased out of the ring before Snuka, barking and snarling, performed two more Superfly splashes on Brody. Brody remained motionless in the middle of the ring as Snuka stalked away from the ring, flinching and eyes bulging. - Scott Casey won by disqualification over Wild Bill Irwin.Casey had the advantage in the match when Irwin made a quick comeback and tossed him to the floor. Bill's brother Scott Irwin jumped Casey and caused the disqualification. After the match Casey rolled back into the ring and the Irwin brothers put the boots to him. When Casey recovered he grabbed the mic and challenged the Long Riders to show up next week and face him and a partner in a tag team match. Tony and David were joined by Disco Inferno and world light heavyweight champion Mr Electricity Steve Regal. Disco said they did what people said couldn't be done and hung move for move with the unbeatable Road Warriors. In his mind that makes them the uncrowned light heavyweight tag team champions of the world. David rolled his eyes in the background as Tony dutifully held the mic. Regal said a double champions work is never done and he's ready to get in the ring and take on yet another "worthy and dangerous challenger". - Mr Electricity Steve Regal defeated Sodbuster Kenny Jay with the Ft Lauderdale Leglock. Regal had little trouble putting away Jay, winning a lopsided match and then gloating and celebrating in the ring with Disco as if he'd just won the lottery.
- The Bolsheviks defeated Marty Jannetty and Ric McCord when Nikolai pinned McCord. Marty's tag team partner woes continue as he finally got some offense going against the Russians, then tagged out to McCord who quickly got cut off and put down with a Nikolai backbreaker for the pin.
Following the match Ivan joined his partners in the interview area. Ivan said it's time for the Road Warriors to finally put up the titles against the undisputed number one contenders and the world will see their superiority. Nikolai promised to beat Hawk and Animal and "rub that stupid makeup off their faces and teach them to be real men".
The Russians walked away and Tony was about to kick it back to the ring for the main event when JIM CORNETTE, accompanied by Mr Hughes, entered the scene. JC told Tony and David to "stop the presses" because he has major announcement. Cornette decried the mistreatment of Big Van Vader by the company and the way they have tried to "hamper his right to free expression by barring him from the show two weeks in a row". David corrected him and said it's actually a three week suspension. Hughes stared David down and David backed away. JC continued by saying Vader has hired him as his official representative going forward and "this heinous mistreatment will not continue. Mama Cornette's money and legal team will make sure of it and Big Van Vader WILL be the next world heavyweight champion."
- Barry Windham defeated Blackjack Mulligan with a lariat in a clean match.
This was not the heated feud type match many were expecting. In fact, the Long Riders attempted to follow Barry to the ring, but he sent them away, telling them "I have to do this on my own". Mulligan and Windham stared each other down and had words before the lockup. The action remained in the ring and Barry picked up the win in a hard fought contest.
Following the match Mulligan extended his hand to Barry and told him Vader's not going to be the next champion, it's going to be Barry Windham.

You know what time it is. and here are your hosts, Tony Schiavone and David Crockett Tony welcomed everyone to the show and said we have lots of questions and not many answers after last week's action, but one thing we know without question is Magnum TA is our United States champion. Magnum came out for an interview and said after his first defense against Ivan he's ready to take on anyone the championship committee deems worthy. As if on cue, out came IVAN KOLOFF and THE BOLSHEVIKS. The Russian contingent surrounded Magnum as Ivan spoke. Koloff said TA was lucky once, but now his luck has run out. The Russians advanced on Magnum, but HAWK and ANIMAL with PAUL ELLERING raced out to even up the sides and the foreign menace backed away. Paul said the communist way doesn't seem very sportsmanlike and maybe they'd like to try the Warrior way, which is in your face, three on three in tonight's main event. Ivan said his team will be there and the world will find out what Russian superiority is all about. - Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Mr X in a four move squash.Duggan was in no mood to wasted time and used a spinning slam to set up the spear for the quick pin. After the match Duggan talked to Tony and David. Hacksaw said he saw what Vader did to his friends the Fantastics a few weeks ago and he know the suspension the NWA gave Vader is up next week. So he's officially laying down the challenge to find out just how tough Vader is when it's face to face, one on one in a sanctioned match....tough guy. - Masked Superstar defeated Jake Milliman with the Cobra Hold.Jake gave Superstar a little fight, but the masked man was too much to handle. JJ Dillon distracted the referee after the bell while Superstar punished Milliman by keeping on the Cobra Hold. Suddenly SUPERFLY SNUKA rushed out, steel folding chair in hand, and chased away JJ and Superstar. And the referee. And anyone else who got near the ring until he finally decided to rush back through the crowd and out of the building. - Jerry Brisco defeated Dr Tom Prichard via Oklahoma Side Roll.Dr Tom once again looked good in defeat getting a near fall after an enzugiri, but Brisco made his comeback and got the impressive win. After the match Tony Schiavone interviewed Jerry. Brisco said he is a former light heavyweight and junior heavyweight champion who defended his championships all over the world with pride and respect, but Steve Regal and Disco Inferno are making a mockery of the title with their antics and he wants to put a stop to it. He challenged Regal to come out and answer his call for a title match, but got DISCO INFERNO instead. Inferno said Regal is getting ready to defend against "another worthy international challenger" and doesn't have time for a guy who has only won a single match here so far. Jerry said "that's fair enough, how about you face me next week instead?" Regal came out and joined his image consultant Disco, whispered something in his ear, and Disco said "we accept". Regal warned Jerry to be careful what he asks for and invited him to "stick around and see how a real champion conducts himself". - Mr Electricity Steve Regal defeated "The Galaxy" to defend the light heavyweight championship. The masked 5'9" 220+ pound competitor billed from Mexico City did not seem to live up to the lofty credentials Disco claimed for him in the interview leading up to this match. He did get a few surprise moves in, but Regal put him away with the Ft Lauderdale Leglock in under three minutes. The Long Riders came to the ring for their challenge match against Scott Casey and an unknown partner. Casey came out alone and dived under the ropes to attack both men. The odds were catching up to him when he was joined by COWBOY JAMES STORM. The Cowboys won the brawl and the Irwin brothers bailed out of the ring. The referee restored order and called for two men to start the match.- The Long Riders beat The Cowboys when Wild Bill pinned Scott Casey.Once again the Long Riders' superior teamwork meant the difference. The Cowboys dominated most of the match until mayhem ensued after Scott broke up a pin attempt. Storm fought with Scott Irwin on the floor, distracting the referee as Wild Bill recovered and pulled a foreign object out of his jeans pocket. Casey got KO'd and the referee turned around just in time to count the pin. JIMMY VALIANT sent David Crockett running for cover as he came to the commentary station and tried to plant a kiss on him, leaving Tony to interview the Boogie Man. Jimmy said it was time to get to serious business now and announced that the Armstrongs have gone back home to deal with a little bit of family business in the home territory. But they didn't leave Boogie all alone because all he needed to do was make a call and his close, personal friend MANNY FERNANDEZ hopped the next flight into town. Manny came out and said he doesn't care if it's the Russians or anybody else, they're all on notice with the Raging Bull and the Boogie Man in town. - The Road Warriors and Magnum TA won by disqualification over The Russians.A hard hitting match ended when Animal hit a power slam on Nikolai for the pin as Magnum fought Ivan and Hawk brawled with Boris. The referee hit the count of two when THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS ran in and jumped Animal to force the disqualification. The Warriors and Magnum were on the end of a 5-on-3 beatdown when JIMMY VALIANT and MANNY FERNANDEZ ran out to even the sides. The duo fought away the Midnight Express while the champions fended off the Russians to leave the all American squad standing tall in the ring to end the show.

I like the James Storm-Scott Casey team. I was thinking about teaming Casey and Johnny Mantell as a lower card team.

OF course I know what time it is...it's always Vader Time. Nice win by Jerry Brisco and enjoying the Regal success. Regal and Disco are guys I wanted to feature, but had to figure out a way to make them entertaining knowing they're not going to win most of the time against any of the top tier cards. Vader, on the other hand , you can just throw into the mix at the top and be pretty confident it'll work.
