All-Star Wrestling 02.15.2021 from Memorial Hall, Kansas City, KS
Bill Dundee vs. Johnny Rodz Bill Dundee defeated Johnny Rodz with a SUPERSTAR BOMB at 0:30 Match Rating: 0.10 Match Notes: Dundee is looking to rebuild some momentum after his brutal falls count anywhere bout against Bobby Shane ended in a loss. He couldn't do much better than this showing against Rodz that saw him get the win 30 seconds!
Bob Backlund vs. Nacho Barrera Bob Backlund defeated Nacho Barrera with an ATOMIC DROP at 1:30 Match Rating: 0.10 Match Notes: Nacho attempted to make this competitive, but Backlund cut him off at every turn and put him down with a wind-up forearm to make way for the ATOMIC DROP and the 1, 2, 3.
- Non-Title Match - The Kangaroos vs. and Jake Milliman, Kenny Jay Al Costello defeated Kenny Jay with a BOOMERANG at 4:42 Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: The Milkman and the Sodbuster dominated the match! Al Costello was in trouble after a big body slam from Jay and Milliman worked the arm. However, a desperation tag saw Heffernan take over the match, and a few moves later the champs hit the BOOMERANG for the win!
After the match, Berry taunted the crowd and talked up his champs - "no one can beat us!"
Red Bastien vs. Mad Dog Vachon Red Bastien defeated Mad Dog Vachon with a Count-out at 1:43 Match Rating: 0.00 Match Notes: The Redheads are vying with the Vachons for a title shot but might have gotten sidetracked in their own mini-feud.
The results were surprising as Vachon went after Bastien at the bell. Red moved out of the way and came off the ropes with a big body press that sent Vachon to the floor. Bastien was relentless and hit a big atomic drop on the outside that sent Vachon into the guardrail and secured a count-out win for Bastien.
Bobby Shane vs. Bob Armstrong Bob Armstrong defeated Bobby Shane with a DQ at 16:06 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Shane wanted a piece of Armstrong after coming up short in his attempt at taking the DuMont Network Title off the champ on the last Chase show.
Armstrong was happy to take Shane to the woodshed, but the self-proclaimed King took the licking and kept coming back. The fight was heated and spilled out of the ring a couple of times with warnings from the ref.
Shane was busted open toward the end and out of desperation grabbed the time-keepers bell and hit Armstrong across the back with it! The ref immediately DQ'd Shane to bring the brawl to a close.
Danny Hodge vs. Pepper Gomez for the NWA Central States Middleweight Championship Danny Hodge defeated Pepper Gomez with an OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL at 6:28 Match Rating: 2.75 Match Notes: It started with a handshake and ended with a 3-count. They jockeyed for position early, but Hodge was dominant. Despite a short turnaround in Gomez's favor after the action spilled outside, the Oklahoman continued to pick Gomez apart and secured the win after OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL.
[Gomez - 3 tokens]
- 2/3 Falls - Mildred Burke vs. Fabulous Moolah for the NWA Central States Women's Championship Mildred Burke defeated Fabulous Moolah with an ALLIGATOR CLUTCH at 3:54 Mildred Burke defeated Fabulous Moolah with a DQ at 9:06 Match Rating: 3.25 Match Notes: This match was a wild brawl from start to finish! Both women had no problem taking things outside, but it was Burke's early technical display that scored her the first fall.
Things were fiery into the second fall, and the action broke down on the outside as the referee tried to get control. Moolah grabbed a chair and smashed Burke across the back to draw the DQ!
Burke retains the title, but this issue looks anything but over.
Overall Card Rating: 1.67

Wrestling at the Chase 02.20.2021 from Chase Park Plaza Hotel, St. Louis, MO
- The World Heavyweight Champion - Gordon Solie welcomes Lou Thesz to the announce booth. Thesz says he's ready for the challenge of Johnny Valentine and he anticipates it to be just that - a challenge. He's not underestimating Valentine one bit but he still expects to walk out of Chicago champion.
Johnny Valentine comes out and says he has a lot of respect for Thesz but that, as always, he'll pull no punches and Thesz better be ready for the fight of his life and the fans just might see a new champion!
At this Buddy Rogers enters the picture to the boos of the Chase crowd. He runs down Valentine and Thesz and says there's only one man here that deserves championship gold... Well, maybe one other man... Harley Race joins Rogers and they eye the two champions...
Larry Matysik makes a match on the spot for the team of Race and Rogers against Thesz and Valentine!
Can Race & Rogers function as a team after their battle for the number one contender spot a few weeks back? It seems so! How will Thesz and his challenger, Valentine, function as a unit? Our main event will have all the answers!
Bob Backlund vs. George South Bob Backlund defeated George South with a ROLLING BACKBRIDGE at 4:04 Match Rating: 2.50 Match Notes: Backlund has cruised past opponents thus far, but South tried to make things a bit more competitive. He hit a big lariat out of the corner and a forearm drop. Backlund was hurt, but he bounced back quickly, and a delayed vertical suplex put the ball back in his court,
Backlund wowed the crowd with a ROLLING BACK BRIDGE out of nowhere to get the win!
After the match, Gordon Solie got a word with Backlund but they were interrupted by Bobby Shane! Shane challenged Backlund to a real match in Chicago so we could see fares when he's not up against bums. Backlund accepts happily.
The Vachons vs. Flying Redheads Red Bastien defeated Butcher Vachon with a rapid fire dropkicks at 4:33 Match Rating: 2.25 Match Notes: The Flying Redheads want another shot at the titles they once held, and they came into this match a house of fire! Butcher Vachon never got the tag out, and Bastien and Lyons picked him apart in the lead up to a significant ATOMIC DROP and finally a series of rapid-fire dropkicks to put him away and earn their title shot in Chicago!
[Butcher Vachon - 3 tokens]
After the match, the Kangaroos and Red Berry made their way to ringside and told the Redheads and Gordon Solie that nobody could beat them and surely not the has-been challenges Bastien and Lyons!
- Women's Title Match Signing - Solie welcomed Mildred Burke to the booth and then Penny Banner. Banner returns from a months-long injury at the hands of Leilani Kai - someone she'll surely want to get her hands on - but was guaranteed a title shot upon her return. Now she has the chance against one of the most dominant champions in the Central States - Mildred Burke.
Burke and Banner express respect for one another but let it be known that they'll do whatever it takes to keep or win the title, respectively.
As they sign on the dotted line, The Fabulous Moolah arrives flanked by Toni Rose and the returning Leilani Kai! Moolah tells Burke and Banner she doesn't care who wins, Burke got off easy. Everyone knows she can beat Burke and she can surely beat Banner. So whoever wins, she wants to be next in line!
- Open Challenge - Bob Armstrong vs. Nick Bockwinkel for the Television Championship This match ended in a draw (TIME LIMIT EXPIRED) at 15:00 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: Bob Armstrong brought his DuMont Network Championship Open Challenge back to the chase after a successful defense against Bobby Shane and non-title rematch at the last Memorial Hall card. It didn't take long for his challenge to be answered as Bobby Heenan made his way to the desk and introduced his prized family member, Nick Bockwinkel!
They had a fantastic match and Armstrong enjoyed flurries of offense here and there, but Bockwinkel used every trick in his arsenal to keep the momentum in his corner for most of the bout.
The action spilled out numerous times, but Bockwinkel rarely followed Bullet Bob.
Heenan was screaming at Bockwinkel to finish it and Bock tried and tried, but Armstrong survived a FIGURE FOUR and multiple pin attempts to beat the clock and retain his title!
[Armstrong - 4 tokens]
Heenan was livid. Piper laughed on commentary although he said it would've been nice to take the title from Bock in Chicago. Heenan motioned to the back and two men ran to the ring and began putting the boots to Armstrong!
Piper made the save with a chair as Heenan went to Gordon Solie...
"I told you! I told you! There are dozens of guys knocking down my door to get into the family... Well, I present to you the newest members... "Playboy" Buddy Rose and "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers! And Piper! I know you have history with this man right here, Buddy Rose... And he's all too happy to take care of you and your crew!"
Piper was hopping mad and stormed the announce booth chair in hand as Heenan's family retreated laughing... Solie tried to calm Piper down as best he could...
Piper and Bockwinkel will meet in Chicago!
- Danny Hodge - Gordon Solie brings out the NWA Central States Middleweight Champion, Danny Hodge. He brings up the fact that Hodge hasn't lost a match since last November and has fended off all challenges to his title.
Hodge thanks Solie and says he's been looking around for challengers and the truth is there haven't been a lot of people to make a name for themselves in the middleweight division. He took care of Mike DiBiase and Bobby Shane and now he's looking for the next challenger. Even Pepper Gomez and Tommy Gilbert couldn't make enough of a mark... However, he's been inspired by Bob Armstrong's open challenge and would like to make it known that he'll take on anyone to answer the call in Chicago!
Who will Hodge's opponent be? Find out at the International Amphitheatre in Chicago, Illinois this Monday, February 22nd!
Buddy Rogers and Harley Race vs. Lou Thesz and Johnny Valentine Buddy Rogers defeated Johnny Valentine with a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE LEGLOCK at 17:42 Match Rating: 4.50 Match Notes: This was an interesting combination put together for the main event. Thesz and Valentine worked well together and Race and Rogers may have worked even better!
It was a great match and all 4 men had their moments. Thesz nearly put Rogers away early with consecutive GRECO ROMAN BACKDROPS, but the Nature Boy clawed his way back into the match.
Race and Valentine brawled on the outside and Race proved his toughness by getting the better of Valentine more than once.
Valentine was stalking Rogers and had him hurting, but a quick reversal found Rogers on top and in position to dropkick the knee and then apply his FIGURE FOUR to get the win! Thesz tried to make the save but Race cut him off and nailed him with a high knee!
[Rogers - 3, Race - 2, Thesz - 0, Valentine - 1]
Just great stuff and we're left with lots of questions! How will Valentine's knee hold up against Thesz in Chicago on Monday? Will Rogers get another shot at his nemesis Valentine after this victory? And will Race find himself in line for a shot at Thesz after trading shots with him after the bell?
Overall Card Rating: 3.38

The Nature Boy -Valentine feud has been on fire for you in the main event picture. I like how Backlund is slowly collecting victories on the undercard waiting for his moment to step into the main event cycle. Up and down your card the booking is extremely well done. Makes for a great read and a fun territory to follow. The flow of this territory has a real authentic feel to it.

bookerbill Thanks for the high praise! I appreciate that. It's exactly what I've been going for. The Rogers/Valentine feud kind of came out of nowhere. Originally I was using them as a tag team but they lost what I thought was an easy match for them so I had Valentine drop Rogers with a punch after the match and then things just took off from there. I never really planned on having Valentine at the top, but he's a beast and has been a lot of fun to use. Thanks so much for following along! TTX "Bullet" Bob shocked me too. I honestly thought we'd have a new champ and thought it would be fun to have Bockwinkel carry that title for a while. As it stands, it adds another layer to the Piper/Heenan's Family feud and I'm happy with that. I have a suspicious Heenan will lobby for a rematch for Bock.. we shall see... Always appreciate the feedback! Thanks for reading.

All-Star Wrestling 02.22.2021 from International Amphitheatre, Chicago, IL
Buddy Rose and Doug Somers vs. Kenny Jay and Jake Milliman Doug Somers defeated Jake Milliman with a SOMERS SUPLEX at 6:00 Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: The Heenan Family has added two new members in the absence of Stevens, Mulligan, and Masked Superstar. "Playboy" Buddy Rose and "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers make their in-ring debut tonight after attacking Bob Armstrong and tormenting Roddy Piper. According to Heenan, Piper and Rose have a background and it'll be interesting to see how that plays into things going forward. For now, though, Somers and Rose have to contend with the Sodbuster and Milkman!
It wasn't all Rose and Somers, but Jay and Milliman didn't do enough to truly keep it competitive. Rose and Somers worked the tag well and hit some double-teams on the way to Somers nailing Milliman with the SOMERS SUPLEX for the 1, 2, 3.
Bob Backlund vs. Bobby Shane Bob Backlund defeated Bobby Shane with an ATOMIC KNEE DROP at 16:24 Match Rating: 4.00 Match Notes: Great match! Bobby Shane certainly gave Backlund his most competitive match to date, but he did it with questionable methods.
They jockeyed for position early, and Shane got some shots in before Backlund took over and attempted to wrap things up early as he has in his other bouts.
Shane rolled outside as things started to heat up, and that's when he was able to reverse his fortune... Backlund was posted, and Shane immediately locked in his JAPANESE SLEEPER, but Backlund made the ropes.
Shane worked over the injured Backlund and even busted him open after repeated knee smashes - there's got to be something loaded in that pad!
Bloody but unbowed, Backlund staged a quick comeback and scored a near fall after an under hook suplex, which he quickly followed up with the ATOMIC DROP for the victory!
[Backlund - 3 tokens, Shane - 5 tokens]
- Open Challenge - Danny Hodge vs. Gorgeous George for the NWA Central States Middleweight Championship Gorgeous George defeated Danny Hodge with a DQ at 27:42 Match Rating: 4.50 Match Notes: What began as a systematic dismantling of Gorgeous George by Danny Hodge ended up being an incredibly competitive see-saw battle!
Hodge was cruising, but some timely interference by Cherie Dupre gave George the opening he needed to make this a wide-open contest. These two went back and forth, throwing everything in their arsenals at one another. Hodge survived both of George's finishing maneuvers, and George came back from multiple pin and submission attempts himself.
However, Cherie Dupre proved to be the ace in the hole for George, as she helped establish his control towards the end of the match.
The action spilled outside several times, and on the last event, Hodge, fed up with George and Dupre, refused to heed the referee's warnings to bring it back in and even jabbed George in the midsection with a chair! Perhaps he was just evening the odds after the Georgie Pins had come into play a couple of times... Either way, the ref disqualified the champ!
Gorgeous George gets the victory over the Middleweight champ, but Hodge will retain the title due to the disqualification... There's no doubt that in his debut for the Central States, Gorgeous George has made an impact!
[George - 3 tokens, Hodge - 2 tokens]
Flying Redheads vs. The Kangaroos for the NWA Central States Tag Team Championship This match ended in a draw (TIME LIMIT DRAW) at 30:00 Match Rating: 4.75 Match Notes: These four men have traded wins, titles, fists, and more over the past few months, and there is little doubt that the barbs Red Berry has thrown the Redheads way have made this match all the more heated.
The Kangaroos dominated the early going, but Bastien was resilient, and some good tag work shifted the momentum. Simply put, this match had everything, and just when you thought one team was out, the pendulum swung in the other direction.
As the war raged on, the action spilled outside again and again, and all four men took some liberties to try and score an advantage. Red Berry may have kept his team in the match, but the Redheads gave as good as they got despite the interference.
In the end, the action spilled out once again, and when the bell rang, there was some confusion as to whether it was a DQ or count out... It turned out it was neither as the time limit had expired!
The Kangaroos grabbed their belts and high-tailed it as the Redheads wanted 5 more minutes!
[Bastien - 5 tokens, Lyons - 1 token, Heffernan - 4 tokens, Costello - 4 tokens]
- 2/3 Falls - Penny Banner vs. Mildred Burke for the NWA Central States Women's Championship Penny Banner defeated Mildred Burke with a SMALL CRADLE at 17:00 This match ended in a draw (No Contest) at 18:02 Match Rating: 3.25 Match Notes: Penny Banner's return to the ring generated a lot of buzz. Despite the tremendous fan support for Mildred Burke up to this point, there was at least an equal contingent of Banner supporters in the crowd.
The match was an excellent fast-paced bout that went back and forth with superb chain wrestling and big counters. Burke dominated stretches of the early going, but Banner returned the favor down the stretch, and after a big splash off the top, she used a SMALL CRADLE to get the first fall.
The second fall started in see-saw fashion, but the action spilled outside quickly.
The ref warned them to bring it back in, but Leilani Kai and Fabulous Moolah made their way out before that could happen! Kai took out Banner while Moolah focused on Burke!
The ref had no choice but to declare a no contest! Further, Larry Matysik reinforced that the winner must win two falls to win the title, so the belt would not change hands despite Banner picking up the victory in fall number one.
The fans were not happy, but there's no denying it was thrilling action up until that point.
[Banner - 2 tokens, Burke - 2 tokens]
Nick Bockwinkel vs. Roddy Piper This match ended in a draw (Double DQ) at 6:43 Match Rating: 2.00 Match Notes: Piper has been waiting quite a while to get his hands on Bockwinkel. Though it was Bob Roop that put Piper on the shelf, the rivalry that has developed between Heenan's family and Piper over the announce desk has caused plenty of havoc.
Piper was a house of fire and tore into Bockwinkel. Bock was caught entirely off guard and nearly succumbed to Piper's onslaught early. The action was furious, and Bockwinkel's comeback was immediately cut off.
The action spilled outside, and both men continued their war with a wanton disregard for the rules. Eventually, the referee disqualified both men! The fans were hot as Piper and Bockwinkel continued fighting after the bell. It took multiple officials to separate the two men... The war has just begun.
[Bockwinkel - 3 tokens]
- 2/3 Falls - Johnny Valentine vs. Lou Thesz for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Johnny Valentine defeated Lou Thesz with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER at 10:27 Johnny Valentine defeated Lou Thesz with a back suplex at 21:09 Match Rating: 4.00 Match Notes: Johnny Valentine has bested Lou Thesz to become the NEW NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion in two straight falls!
Thesz dominated the first fall and looked like he was on his way to an easy title defense, but a reversal of fortune found Valentine on top, and he began hammering Thesz. Two consecutive ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHERs spelled doom for Thesz and gave Valentine the first fall.
The second fall was a see-saw battle between the two as Thesz sought to even the score. He scored a couple of near falls, but Valentine was able to survive a GRECO ROMAN BACKDROP, and as they continued to go back and forth, the crowd was at fever pitch.
Thesz looked to have control and went for a double leg, but Valentine stuffed it and hit a big back suplex with a bridge to get the historic 3-count!
The Chicago crowd went wild for the title change, and Valentine hoisted the belt into the air!
[Valentine - 3 tokens, Thesz - 2 tokens]
Johnny Valentine won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship
Overall Card Rating: 3.50

Backlund has been one of my favorites to use so nice to see him....Loved Johnny Valentine winning the title. He was the first to beat Randy Savage in my fed after Randy's long run as World champion.
