- Non-Wrestling Segment -
The Valiant Brothers are at the announce booth no sooner than Solie and Matysik can welcome the fans. They launch into a tirade on the Kangaroos and wonder if they'll have the courage to put those titles up in a traditional 2/3 falls match. Johnny Valiant hoists up a can of yellow paint and promises to paint the Aussies and their referee if they can't come around and accept.
Wild Red Berry cautiously approaches the desk and tells the Valiants that they had their shot and they lost. Jimmy Valiant backs Berry into the desk and threatens to beat him black and blue before they paint him yellow!
Costello and Heffernan are out to rescue their manager and sneak attack the Valiants! They beat the challengers down and then Costello grabs the paint and pours it over the two of them!
Heffernan looks at Solie and says "Now who's yellow? Challenge accepted!"
Bill Dundee vs. Kenny Jay
Bill Dundee defeated Kenny Jay with a count-out at 3:51
Match Rating: 0.10
Match Notes: Dundee looked great in his Central States debut. The young Aussie native started things off with a big monkey flip and then fought Jay to the outside - not afraid to mix it up in a brawling style.
He hit a couple of big splashes off the ropes and even a high-risk cross body off the top for a near fall.
It spilled out again, and Dundee crushed Jay with a big double-ax handle off the apron. Jay could not answer the 10-count, and the match was awarded to Dundee by way of count-out.
Gordon Solie is at the ringside area to get a word with the newcomer. Dundee says he's here to work his way up the rankings to challenge for Danny Hodge's Middleweight belt. Before the interview can get too far, Bobby Shane makes his return. He hasn't been seen in weeks, but he pushes past Solie - "Get your filthy hands off me!" - and tells Dundee that all roads to that belt go through him!
Dundee doesn't back down, and as the two begin a shoving match, we go to commercial.
When we return, Solie announces Dundee and Shane will go at it in the ring this Monday at Memorial Hall!
- Hot Seat w/ Bobo Brazil -
Apter welcomes Bobo Brazil to the Hot Seat. Bobo couldn't be happier to have shown Killer Kowalski the door in dominant fashion at the last Memorial Hall card. Apter asks about Buddy Rogers.
Naturally, he'd like the opportunity to avenge his loss from a few weeks ago. But he's not so sure that the Nature Boy want's anything to do with him now that he's on his own.
Apter asks if he thinks Rogers is a coward. Brazil says he didn't say that, but wonders where he is after all the big talk last week.
Apter then asks about Johnny Valentine and their partnership. Bobo says he was here to help out Valentine, but that there's no official partnership between them. he wishes Valentine luck in his mission to win the Central States Heavyweight Title, but maybe one day he wouldn't mind taking a crack at that title himself.
The fans give Bobo a big ovation as his waves to the crowd before leaving the Hot Seat.
Princess Victoria vs. Toni Rose
This match ended in a draw (TIME LIMIT DRAW) at 15:00
Match Rating: 3.75
Match Notes: These two had a great match that went the distance. It see-sawed the whole way, and even when it looked like Toni Rose's rule-breaking ways would payoff, Victoria came back to get even.
The action spilled outside a couple of times, and both scored near falls, but neither could sustain enough offense to put the other down for the count.
At one point, a woman in a mask appeared at ringside. At first glance, it looked like she was sizing up the competition, but as the match wore one, she began shouting instructions to Rose!
It wasn't enough, though, and the time limit expired just as Princess Victoria reversed a facelock into an arm drag.
After the match, the masked woman hopped onto the apron and distracted Victoria. Rose attacked her from behind and left her in a heap...
Solie tried to get a word with the pair, but the masked woman said no comment and the two left the area.
Brisco Brothers vs. and Nacho Barrera, Jake Milliman
Jack Brisco defeated Nacho Barrera with a FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK at 1:45
Match Rating: 0.10
Match Notes: Barrera busted out a waistlock at the top, but Jack Brisco didn't let him hold hit long and hit a big dropkick followed by an airplane spin that sent Nacho out of the ring. As soon as he came back in, Brisco shot the legs and applied the FIGURE FOUR for the win.
After the match, The Brisco Brothers made it official and challenged the winners of the tag team title match this coming Monday! Whether it's the Valiants or the Kangaroos, that should be a great match!
- Non-Wrestling Segment -
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper joins Gordon Solie - his right arm in a sling after Roop's post-match attack. Solie asks how Piper is doing.
"Well, Gordon, I guess I got myself a little humbled. Mr. Roop, he just needed to prove how big and strong he was and didn't like that I was beating him from pillar to post - didn't like that I've embarrassed him at every turn - and what does he do? He gets himself suspended and puts me on the shelf. But, I don't plan on staying down - oh no. In fact, Mr. Solie, why don't I just plop myself down here next to you to call this here main event? What do you say?"
It doesn't appear Solie has much choice, but he doesn't put up a fight as Roddy Piper sits down to provide color commentary for our main event.
Pepper Gomez vs. Tommy Gilbert
Tommy Gilbert defeated Pepper Gomez with a standing dropkick at 5:58
Match Rating: 2.75
Match Notes: Good match. They jockeyed for position early, but Pepper Gomez shrugged off a boot to the midsection and fired off a couple of big moves for a near fall. Gilbert was in trouble but took advantage off the ropes and made a big comeback.
They see-sawed briefly until Gilbert started building steam with an array of punches and elbows. Gomez was hurting and rolled outside, but Gilbert followed.
Things started to break down, and Gilbert saw nothing wrong with bending the rules and smashing Gomez face-first into the timekeeper's table. Gomez was on dream street and soon found himself on the receiving end of a big dropkick.
Gilbert made the cover and got a 3-count!
Tommy Gilbert struggled in tag team action but has found his place in the middleweight division with a pair of wins - this one especially impressive.
- Non-Wrestling Segment -
Gordon Solie begins hyping up the All-Star Wrestling card for this Monday and is joined by the challenger for the heavyweight title Johnny Valentine.
Valentine says he's worked hard for the past few months to get this opportunity, and he appreciates the fans' support. He knew dropping a dead weight like Buddy Rogers would not only give him the chance to focus on the title but also set him on the right path with the locker room and fans alike.
When asked about his opponent, the Spoiler, Valentine says it would be easy to take the Spoiler lightly. To look at his recent difficulties and say that this wouldn't be much of a test, but he knew that wouldn't get him very far. The Spoiler is a very dangerous man and beat one of the best wrestlers in the world to win that title. Valentine is taking it very seriously.
The Spoiler comes out with the title and tells Valentine he better be taking it seriously. Because despite all the distractions, this wasn't about Blackjack Mulligan or Buddy Rogers, this was about the Central States belt, and the Spoiler is not going to lose this title. Not by a longshot.
The announce booth becomes very crowded, indeed... As Spoiler and Valentine continue to exchange words, the crowd oohs and ahs at the sight of Buddy Rogers and Blackjack Mulligan! Both begin baiting the champ and challenger, but officials are out to keep things from getting too out of hand...
The Spoiler seizes the moment, though, and loads his mask... He headbutts Valentine, and the challenger goes down hard! Spoiler then takes the piece of metal out for all to see and laughs as the show comes to a close. Mulligan and Rogers can be seen smirking, almost nodding in approval...
Bobo Brazil runs out, and the Spoiler high tails, narrowly avoiding a punch from Mulligan... What a scene!!
Overall Card Rating: 1.68
