Group G Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) v. British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid)
The two sides exchange handshakes at James Beard calls for the bell. Both sides make tags and the action goes back and forth. The Bulldogs cut off Brunzell and go to work. Smith rocks Brunzell with a back to back piledrivers at one point. Kid is in with a snap suplex followed by a DIVING HEAD BUTT. 1, 2, Blair is blocked, 3. (R6/P6)

Group G Texas Hangmen (Psycho & Killer) v. Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams)

James Beard is the official for this battle of brawlers. Killer uses his size to get the upper hand on Williams leading to a HANGMAN BACKBREAKER for a two count (R9/P4). HANGMAN BACKBREAKER for a one count (R8/P5). Hangman’s Noose to Williams. Psycho controls. Williams counters a snap snare and elbow to the head. Both sides tag. Miller goes after the eyes of Killer with rope burns. Double thrust to the throat. RUNNING KNEE SMASH misses! HANGMAN BACKBREAKER to Miller. 1, 2, kick out (R7/P5). Miller is reeling. Whip to the corner and charge . . . Miller back drops Killer to the floor. They tear it up on the floor in front of Dr. Mike Lano. Killer gets the upper hand. Psycho is in and trade moves with Miller. Williams controls against Psycho. Killer tags in. They go to the floor and Williams gets the advantage. BATTERING RAM to Psycho for two ¾ (R5/P4). The Sheepherder control. Killer gets the tag and takes Williams to the floor. Killer goes into the ring post. Back to the floor and Williams punished. Back in the ring. Williams with a smash to the skull from the top. DOUBLE GUTBUSTER. Psycho is blocked and James Beard makes the three count (R4/P5).

Brad Armstrong uses his speed to control against Gordy getting his larger opponent to the mat but Williams is able to unleash a power attack when he gets the tag. Bob Armstrong is in but Gordy catches him with a back elbow and then a back suplex for a two count from Dick Woerhrle (R4/P3). BAMM BAMM SLAM. 1, 2, kick out (R5/P4). The Miracle & Violence Connection dominates. Double football tackle. Gordy with a PILEDRIVER. Gordy covers for the win while Williams cuts of the pin save (R4/P8).

Group H Powers of Pain (Warlord & Barbarian) w/Mr. Fuji v. Original Midnight Express (Randy Rose & Dennis Condrey) w/Jim Cornette
Dick Woerhrle has strict instructions for both sides in this win and get in encounter. The Express have no answer to the power attack of Barbarian and then the Warlord. POWER HEAD BUTT to Rose. Condrey is cut off but Cornette is able to cause a distraction. ELEVATED CLOTHESLINE to Rose. Condrey makes the save. Running power slam from Warlord. Rose rolls to his corner for the tag but Condrey runs into trouble taking a backbreaker onto partner. Running power slam. Condrey counters forearms and Rose is back in but eats some forearms and gets crushed with a power plex. 1, 2, kick out (R9/P7). Rose leads the fight to the floor and shoves Warlord into the post. Rose goes to the top but Warlord tosses him to the mat. POWER HEAD BUTT to Rose. Cornette is on the apron. Warlord chases him to the floor and Condrey blindsides Warlord knocking him into the post again. Back in the ring, Condrey is in but gets caught with a backbreaker onto partner. Power Plex to Condrey. Another backbreaker onto partner. Warlord punishes Condrey. Another backbreaker onto partner and a Power Plex. The Express gets some life with a drop toehold attack. It is suddenly a back and forth match. Warlord with a belly to belly suplex to Rose but the Express team up for an assisted abdominal stretch to Warlord. Barbarian with chops and gets control Press slam but Condrey drops back and gets the tag. Drop toehold attack to Barbarian for a 1 count (R11/P3). Barbarian bails after a gut wrench suplex from Condrey. Condrey eats the post and is busted open. Big boot to face sends Condrey into the tag from Rose. Rose unleashes a series of jumping knee drops and a pair of clothesline that sends Barbarian to the floor. Barbarian picks up Dr. Mike Lano and throw him at Rose. Barbarian overpowers. Backbreaker onto partner. Rose counters a high back body drop and both sides tag. Condrey controls with a gut wrench suplex and then the action goes outside. Condrey smashes Barbarian with a chair and Woehrle calls for the disqualification.

Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) w/Jim Cornette v. Jack Brisco & Jerry Brisco

James Beard calls for the bell and the knock out round gets underway with Jerry Brisco controlling against Lane with a series of body slams. Eaton is in but Brisco works the arm. Jack Brisco keeps the pressure on but Eaton eventually catches a break and gets the tag. Lane is no match for Jack Brisco’s skills but he does manage to counter a double leg takedown. Eaton is in but struggled to find a counter. Eaton avoids a jumping knee drop and is joined by Lane for a Double Goozle on Jack Brisco for a two count (R7/P3). GRAVEDIGGER to Brisco. Eaton with a deep cover . . . 1, 2, Brisco with a kick to break it up. Eaton to the top . . . Brisco slams him to the mat. POP! Jerry Brisco tags in. FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Lane is cut off. Cornette distracts. HEAT! Eaton dragged to the middle of the ring . . . FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Jack Brisco tosses out Lane. Cornette swings his racket . . . SMASHES EATON! Lane takes it to the floor and Brisco is assaulted. Back outside. Brisco fires back. Lane eats the ringside table. Lane tossed back into the ring. Jack Brisco tags! FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Cornette on the apron. Brisco chases him around the ring. Brawl on the floor. Back inside . . . FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Lane makes the ropes (R8/P6). Jerry Brisco tags and mounts the corner. Deathjump cross body block . . . Lane rolls through . . . 1, 2, kick out (R9/P5). Eaton tosses Brisco to the floor. Eaton tripped up from the floor. . . knee to the post! Boston Crab from Brisco . . . Eaton just makes the ropes! (R7/P5). Deathjump smash to the knee. Tombstone piledriver from Jack Brisco. 1, 2, shoulder up! (R7/P6). OMG! Blackjack Mulligan & Barry Windham v. Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff

Dick Woehrle watches on as Volkoff sings and the fans give it to the big Russian which causes Sheik to grab the mic and verbally assault everyone. Volkoff overpowers Windham but the fan favourite from Sweetwater counters a charge to the corner with a clothesline. A suplex follows. Deathjump smash to the skull and a figure four leglock to Volkoff. Big boot from Mulligan but a stomp allows Volkoff to get the tag. Mulligan batters Sheik and the fans love it. Big boot to face and Sheik is on the mat. 1, 2, kick out (R10/P2). Back elbow ram for another fall attempt (R9/P3). Windham tags in but misses a dropkick. Volkoff with a head butt and he takes control. Kick in the corner from Volkoff. Kicks and stomps from Volkoff but Windham avoids a tackle in the corner and tags in his father. The battle of the powerhouses goes to Volkoff and a running stomp gets a two count (R7/P2). Sheik tags in. CAMEL CLUTCH. Volkoff blocks Windham. Mulligan cannot make the ropes and it is over (R5/P5). Huge heat as Sheik and Volkoff leave the Omni one step closure to winning the Cup.

I am absolutely loving this tag league. The excitement is ramping up with the knockout round and the Brisco Brothers and Volkoff & Sheik advancing is cool to see.

Night Seventeen – St. Paul’s Civic Centre, St. Paul, Minnesota

Long Riders (“Wild” Bill Irwin & Scott “Hog” Irwin) v. Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers)

Dick Woehrle is in charge of making the three-count. Scott Irwin overpowers Fulton and both sides switch it up. “Wild” Bill gets the upper hand against Rogers. Whip to the corner is reversed and Rogers flies into the corner but Irwin backdrops him over the ropes. Back in the ring, an eye rake with the boot sends Rogers rolling to his partner’s tag. Fulton sends Irwin into the corner and they both go for a clothesline and crash to the mat. Fulton recovers first and comes off the top with a elbow to the top of the head and then a dropkick off the top. POP! FANTASTIC CRADLE 1, 2, 3 (R4/P4).

PitBulls (Pitbull #1 and Pitbull #2) v. Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano

The action is closely contested with all four men seeing time in the ring. Pitbull #2 misses a flying tackle in the corner and the Valiant Brother make him pay with a double buckle whip. Johnny Valiant covers for a one count (R8/P3) and then follows with a SPINNING NECKBREAKER for another fall attempt (R8/P4). Valiant hits his finisher SPINNING NECKBREAKER again and this time Pitbull #1 makes the save. “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant keeps the pressure on with knee lifts, first drops and an atomic drop. Back to back atomic drops put Pitbull #2 down. 1, the pin save is blocked, 2, kick out (R11/P6). Repeated stomps from Valiant who then tags in “Luscious” Johnny but his chop to the throat misses . . . HOT TAG! Pitbull #1 cannot maintain any offense and the Valiant Brother tag. Pitbull is sent into the corner but comes out with a clothesline to Jimmy Valiant. Back to back running powerslams leads to a drop toehold and flying elbow. Valiant bails but trips over Dr. Mike Lano . . . ROARING! Tombstone piledriver from Pitbull #2. Pitbull #1 with a spinebuster. Cover 1, 2, ½ (R5/P3). SUPER BOMB. Johnny Valiant makes the save! Tombstone piledriver from Pitbull #2 followed by a drop toehold & flying elbow drop from the Pitbulls. Jimmy Valiant gets a defensive tag. Pitbull #2 is cut off again. Whip to the corner . . . Johnny Valiant & Pitbull #2 CRACK SKULLS! Both are down. Valiant is up first . . . face slam into the canvas. James Beard makes the three-count (R6/P7)

Night Eighteen – Madison Square Garden – New York, New York

Stars & Stripes (Marcus Alexander Bagwell & Del Wilkes) v. Bob Orton Sr. & Bob Orton Jr.

Dick Woehrle gives his instruction to the two teams and we get underway. The Ortons immediately cut off Wilkes for a series of moves but Bagwell gets into the action after a Wilkes counter and downs Bob Orton with a dropkick for a one count. (R11/P3). Orton powers his way out of trouble and tags in his son but Orton Jr. misses a dropkick a few moments later and Wilkes is back into the match with a standing dropkick that is right on target. Power slam and Orton Jr’s shoulder are on the mat for a one count (R9/P3). Orton takes an atomic drop but manages to get the tag to his father. Wilkes and Orton trade moves back and forth. Orton rebounds Wilkes into a back elbow. He sends him into the ropes again but this time Wilkes counters a backdrop with a piledriver. STAR SPANGLED SUPLEX to Orton. Orton Jr. takes out Wilkes and then attacks Bagwell. Spike Piledriver to Bagwell! 1, 2, ¾ (R6/P5) OUT OF MY SEAT! Orton Jr. with a SUPERPLEX. Wilkes jumps into the ring starting a wild brawl. Woehrle gets control. Orton Bomb followed by a released double underhook. 1, 2, Wilkes breaks it up. Orton is in with standing neckbreaker and the Orton family moves on (R8/P8).

British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid) v. Powers of Pain (Warlord & Barbarian) w/Mr. Fuji

The speed and skill of the Bulldogs overwhelms Warlord early on leading to a delayed vertical suplex from Smith for a one count (R9/P4). Warlord connects with a shoulder tackle and gets the tag. Barbarian charges Smith in the corner but the Bulldogs rolls clear sending Barbarian crashing into the turnbuckles. Smith rolls him up for one (R8/P3). Double head butt from the Bulldogs sets up a gut wrench suplex from Kid for a one count (R10/P5). Kick to the face stuns Barbarian but he just shakes off a series of forearms and tags out. Warlord slows it down with a front facelock. Power Plex to Kid gets a near fall (R6/P3). ELEVATED CLOTHESLINE. Smith makes the save! Warlord with a running power slam followed by a leg drop. Cover. Smith makes a second save. POWER HEAD BUTT and Dick Woehrle hits the mat three times (R4/P8).

Night Nineteen – The Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA

Quebecers (Pierre Carl Oullett & Jacques Rougeau) v. Flying Redheads (Billy Red Lyons & Red Bastien)

The Quebecers are able to focus their early attack on Red Bastien including a double Hot Shot. Both teams then go into making quick tags until the Quebecers catch Bastien with another double Hot Shot. Rougeau follows up with a dropkick but Bastien is sent into the outstretched hand of his partner with the move. Lyons takes over the Redheads send Rougeau to the floor with rapid file dropkicks. Bastien control with his speed and agility thrilling the fans. Flying head scissors leads to an ATOMIC DROP. James Beard counts as the pin save is blocked but Rougeau kicks out before three (R7/P5). Lyons wraps on a SLEEPER HOLD. Oullett jumps into the ring but dropkicks send him to the floor. FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK . . . Rougeau makes the ropes (R7/P6) to keep the match going. Back to the SLEEPER . . . Rougeau collapses into the ropes and Beard makes Lyons release his finisher (R8/P6). ATOMIC DROP from Bastien and that is it (R5/P8).

Miracle & Violence Connection (“Dr. Death” Steve Williams & Terry Gordy) v. Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell)

Joey Morella is in charge of the action that sees Blair and Williams chain wrestling before the Bees combine for a double backdrop. The action goes back and forth at a great pace thrilling the fans. There is no clear advantage to either side until Williams downs Blair with a lariat for a one count (R12/P4). Williams follows with a Dr. Bomb and folds up Blair for the three-count (R4/P5).
