Quarter Finals - Keil Auditorium, St. Louis, MO
Jack Brisco & Jerry Brisco v. Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff
The heat for Volkoff as he sings is off the charts. Sheik grabs the mic and rips into the fans. Joey Morella calls for the bell after the Brisco Brothers arrive to massive cheers. Both sides are able to make tags but it is the skill of the Brisco Brothers that shines through the attack on Sheik & Volkoff. Jack Brisco rocks the fans when he backdrops Volkoff over the corner sending the big Russian crashing to the floor. Brisco goes out to collect his opponent but Volkoff shoves Dr. Mike Lano into Brisco to get the advantage. Sheik tags in. CAMEL CLUTCH. Brisco gets free (R13/P2). Jerry Brisco gets back into the match after his brother counters Sheik’s attack. A series of reversals sends Brisco into the corner. He bounced out with a tackle and crashes into Sheik sending both men to the mat. Sheik loads his boot and attacks. HEAT! Volkoff with a running stomp to a bloody Jerry Brisco. BACKBREAKER DROP. Sheik cuts off Jack Brisco but Jerry Brisco kick out of the cover (R12/P6). Volkoff drops a forearm from the top followed by a stomp off the top. Sheik with a Camel Rider. Brisco counters and tags out. Jack Brisco with a fireman’s carry followed by a clothesline in the corner. Scorpion Death Lock to the Sheik who manages to escape (R10/P2). Brisco with a gut wrench backbreaker. Sheik is rebounded into the ropes . . . Small package gets one on Brisco (R11/P3). Sheik with his own Scorpion Death Lock. Volkoff misses tackle in the corner. Brisco with a dropkick and suplex assortment to Volkoff. Double tackle from the Briscos to Volkoff. Volkoff counters a deep arm drag. Brisco blocks a throat chop and dropkicks Sheik. Jerry Brisco is in but Sheik overpowers him with suplexes and chest breakers. Brisco counters and tags. Sheik chokes Jack Brisco executes a belly-to-belly. Sidewinder suplex downs Brisco and Sheik presses for two (R9/P4). Volkoff roughs up Brisco with knees to the gut and an eye rake. Sheik with a sidewinder suplex. 1, 2, Jerry Brisco jumps into action but is tossed to the floor. Sheik with a vertical suplex. 1, 2, kick out (R9/P6). Sheik with a boot to the back off the top of the corner. Volkoff works the back with a Russian Bear Hug. A knee to the gut sends Brisco to his own corner for the tag. Volkoff cuts off Jerry Brisco’s attack with an eye rake. Sheik is in and jaws at the fans. HEAT! Whip into the corner . . . Brisco backdrops Sheik to the floor! Morella is counting . . . 7, 8, 9, back in the ring. Jerry Brisco with a butt drop to the leg. Sheik tags. Brisco tags. Volkoff with a running stomp. Cover. Jerry Brisco is blocked. Three count! (R6/P7). The Brisco Brothers are out!
Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) v. Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano
Dick Woehrle signals for the bell and the pace is quick with Rogers countering Jimmy Valiant’s charge into the corner with a clothesline. Roll up for two (R4/P3). Rogers scales the corner and lands a smash to the skull. FANTASTIC FLIP. Johnny Valiant is cut off. Lou Albano distracts Woehrle. Fantastics with a back body drop to both Valiants! POP! Right hand punch from Fulton. Valiant is down. Cover. Johnny Valiant is in. Tommy Rogers is in. Chaos. Johnny Valiant nails Fulton with an elbow while Woehrle backs out Rogers. Johnny drags “Handsome” Jimmy onto Fulton. 1, 2, kick out (R6/P3). Johnny Valiant tags in with a boot scrape. Fulton is tossed to the floor. He crawls back in. Face slam to the canvas. Elbow misses. Rogers is in with a wishbone stomp and sleeper. Double sitout hip toss to Johnny Valiant who bails to the floor. Fulton is out after him but Valiant runs him into the ring post. HUGE HEAT! SPINNING NECKBREAKER. 1, 2, ¾ (R5/P4). OUT OF MY SEAT! Belly to belly suplex plants Fulton. Choke with a boot and Jimmy Valiant tags back in climbing to the top . . . slam to the mat!!! POP! FANTASTIC FLIP. Johnny Valiant makes the save! FANTASTIC CRADLE. Albano on the apron . . . Dropkick from Rogers spills Albano to the floor. Cross body block to Jimmy Valiant for the win (R6/P7).

THE DICE TAKE AN UGLY TURN…
Quarter Finals – Boston Garden, Boston, MA
Bob Orton Sr. & Bob Orton Jr. v. Powers of Pain (Warlord & Barbarian) w/Mr. Fuji
Joey Morella calls for the bell and Orton battled The Barbarian. The action goes to the floor and Barbarian slams Orton through the ringside table. Morella calls for the bell and this one is over in just four moves with the Orton family winning by disqualification!
Flying Redheads (Billy Red Lyons & Red Bastien) v. Miracle & Violence Connection (“Dr. Death” Steve Williams & Terry Gordy)
The Redheads use their speed and agility to frustrate Gordy in the early going. Williams tags in to face Bastien but he is joined again by Gordy seconds later for a double football tackle to Bastien. BAMM BAMM SLAM to Bastien. 1, 2, kick out (R6/P3). POWER BOMB to Bastien. Lyons jumps into the action followed by Williams. Dropkick to Williams. Dropkick to Gordy. Dick Woehrle backs out Williams and Bastien covers Gordy. 1, 2, kick out (R6/P2). Lyons is in officially. SLEEPERHOLD to Gordy. Gordy backs Lyons into the corner to escape (R9/P3). Lyons keeps on Gordy putting his shoulders to the mat with a rolling reverse cradle. 1, kick out (R10/P4). Bastien is in with a standing dropkick. Second one is batted aside. Williams with a spinebuster to Bastien. Bastien is tossed to the floor. Williams comes outside and Dr. Mike Lano captures the exchange up close. Williams with a clubbing forearm from the top. OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE. Lyons makes the save! The action goes back to the floor. Gordy smashes Bastien with a chair across the back and Woehrle quickly calls for the bell. Back to back disqualifications and the fans leave Boston frustrated!

This tournament is bringing it with some epic action. I loved the Briscos vs. Volkoff & Sheik (huge win for the latter) and the great run that The Fantastics are on. But yeah, those darn dice at it again!

ABSOLUTE PROMOTER FRUSTRATION!!!
Semi – Finals - Greensboro Coliseum, North Carolina
Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff v. Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers)
Volkoff sings and the fans are livid. Sheik just makes it worse with his mic work. Both sides use their strengths to attempt to get the upper hand and it is the power of Volkoff that gives his team the edge. The Fantastics come back with a series of double offensive moves that prevent Volkoff and Sheik from making defensive tags. Sheik gets back into the action and is sent spilling to the floor with dropkicks from Rogers. Rogers chases and Sheik is ready running Rogers into the ringside table sending officials scrambling. Dick Woehrle calls for the bell and has disqualified Sheik for the brawling on the floor. The fans are not pleased and he have back to back to back disqualification finishes late in the tournament!
Bob Orton Sr. & Bob Orton Jr. v. Flying Redheads (Billy Red Lyons & Red Bastien)
Dick Woehrle is again the referee and the fans are restless as a result. Bob Orton sets the pace early on and controls against Bastien. Orton comes off the top with an elbow to the top of the head. SUPERPLEX from Orton Jr. but Bastien kicks out before two (R11/P4). Orton tosses Bastien to the floor and runs him into the rails by the fans. SUPERPLEX to Bastien. Lyons makes the save. Orton Bomb lands. Orton tags in his father who comes off the top with smash to the back of the neck. PILEDRIVER to Bastien. Lyons makes the save again. Orton takes Bastien to the floor and rams him face first into the rails. Bastien is busted open and the fans are livid. Back to the floor. Bastien eats the rails again and Woehrle has seen enough. Four disqualification finishes in a row sends the Redheads to the finals.

Finals – Madison Square Garden, New York, New York
Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) v. Flying Redheads (Billy Red Lyons & Red Bastien)
Dick Woehrle is the official assigned to the finals and the fans are anything but pleased after what has happened in the semi-finals. Handshakes to start off the action. Bastien and Fulton trade move for move. Whip to the corner reversed, reversed again and Bastien counters the charge with knee to the chest. Flying head scissors downs Fulton and Bastien follows with an ATOMIC DROP for a big near fall (R6/P4). Lyons off the top with an elbow but his flying head scissors is countered by Fulton. Lyons counters a wishbone stomp from Rogers and rapid fire dropkicks knocks Rogers off his feet. Bastien is in with a whip to the corner. Rogers reverses and moves in but Bastien rolls clear of the charge sending Rogers chest first hard against the buckles. Bastien rolls him up for two (R7/P4). ATOMIC DROP to Rogers. 1, 2, Fulton is blocked, kick out (R7/P5). Lyons is in with a SLEEPER HOLD. Fulton is cut off by Bastien and Rogers cannot escape (R6/P6).
