Yesterday's game exposed my bad jinx element. I forgot it was on ABC then when I remembered I turned on the game. It was halfway thru the 2nd period. We were up 4-0 so I missed those goals and after only a minute or two of watching St Louis scored to end the shutout bid. I almost turned it off but left it on and got to see a pair of goals.

Wings win again. They beat Chicago in OT. Former Blackhawk Alex DeBrincat got the tying goal to send the game into OT. Another former Blackhawk, Patrick Kane, got an assist on that goal. In OT Alex assisted on Patrick's game winning goal. That is the second OT game winning goal that Patrick has for us this month. <sniff, sniff> I smell the playoffs. Yea buddy.

The Wings are hot right now. They routed the Capitals 8-3 to win their 6th straight. That is their first winning streak of at least 6 since 2019.

I wonder if ABC and the NHL realized what a good move it was putting the Red Wings/Panthers game on national TV today. We have Panther fans down here of course but also a lot of Wing fans especially with so many Tiger fans in town here for spring training. I have quite a few staying at my hotel as we are only a mile or so from Tiger Town where spring training takes place.

Just when the Wings were starting to get on a roll, they get beat bad and shutout by Florida and then get crushed by Colorado. Hopefully they can turn it around fast. They currently have a good hold on a Wild Card spot but if they keep losing it could slip away.

We have reached the trade deadline and man were things underwhelming for the Wings. I did not expect a big splash move but figured we would do a little something, something to improve the team. We traded a young forward, Klim Kostin, who was a first-round pick by the Blues a few years back but has done very little in his career on three teams. In exchange we got an older defenseman who has not even played this year and a 7th round pick this year. Not sure why either team bothered although maybe San Jose Sharks get a bit on their return.

I thought we'd get a forward at least to fill the gap while Larkin is out, but didn't happen. Stevie said nothing materialized that would have made sense to give up assets for, and I take him at his word. Figured Berggren would the call up ASAP, but not yet. If we want to make the playoffs team defense is still our biggest need - at some point I expect Edvinsson up to push Petry or Ghost out of the lineup.

We NEED to beat the Knights tonight. We are being outscored in this four-game skid 20-5 and only one of the four did we have a chance to win.

Yet another loss. Maybe the Wings need to give Larkin a raise because we have not won since he went down with an injury. We are now out of the Wild Card spots and the playoffs are slipping away from us.
