One point. One damn point. That is what we missed the playoffs by. It's going to be a long summer with the rollercoaster of the Tigers season and long year to see if we can make the playoffs next season.

You're one of my favorite people on this board so I was pulling for the Wings to get in. Hopefully next season will be better.

It gets worse as I just found out that with 3 minutes left and the score tied at 1-1 Philly pulled their goalie which allowed Washington to get an empty netter which was the game winner. Philly did it as they needed to win in regulation to have a chance to make the playoffs but they had been eliminated by then due to the Wings win. I mean we got knocked out due to an empty netter in a tie game. How crazy is that?

Season is an overall success. They learned every game matters, we learned the young kids are stars in the making. Need to dump some bad contracts if possible, get a goalie and another top 4 D. Tampa and Boston "should" be on the downswing and playoffs are very much in play again next year. And who knows, maybe we'll even get some lottery luck this year.

The draft lottery is Tuesday. Hopefully we get a bit of luck. I was thinking we had two picks in the first round this year, one from Boston, but we have to send that to Ottawa as part of the Alex DeBrincat trade. I am happy we have Alex, but that 2nd pick would have been nice. Then again, we have a lot of talent in our farm system that just need to get a bit older and work their way onto the main team.

Somehow, I went the last 6+ years without knowing they were building an international bridge between Detroit and Windsor in Canada. More so, it is named the Gordie Howe International Bridge. How awesome is that. Suck on that Wayne Gretzky.

Congrats to the Florida Panthers for winning the Stanley Cup and for not choking like the 42 Red Wings. Now a Florida team has won three of the last five Cups. Toss in Vegas and four of the last five winners are from non-traditional hockey markets.

Bittersweet for Edmonton. Congrats to Florida. I had a feeling the Panthers were going to win. At the liquor store I work at we had numerous people coming in last night who were hoping for an Oilers win; just so the Stanley Cup could makes its way back to Canada. I mentioned to my co-worker that Florida was probably going to end up squashing everyone's hopes and add on to this country's continued hockey misery. Being from Edmonton originally she didn't appreciate that. LOL! Sadly, I turned out to be right. Congratulations to the Panthers though. They assembled a very well-balanced & deep roster and were the better team overall.

The Wings are making some moves and their roster going thru a change this off season as often happens. I do not know the NHL as well as I used to, but it looks like good moves. We lost some offensive players but while they had good points totals, they also were not good on D as obvious by their minus in the plus/minus stat. We just signed Vladimir Tarasenko who won the Cup with Florida. He has good offensive numbers but also a good plus number as well. Goaltender Cam Talbot will either be just a filler as a backup or could turn into a great signing. He is getting old but has had a solid career and been really good over last 5 years. Another goaltender, Jack Campbell, is in the same boat. Over the last two years with Edmonton, he has not been good stat wise. But in the three years before that with Toronto and even while with LA he has decent stats. Based on starts he has not been the #1 guy but based on what we have now that is fine. One thing I noticed is we signed vets either near or over 30. That is good for two reasons. One, they should help our younger guys develop faster and better. Two, we do not need to sign young stars as we have plenty on our team in our farm system. I feel like this year we get back to the playoffs and is the first step to the Wings being a dominating team for years with many playoff appearances like in the past.
