I was happy to see Flaherty pitched really good in his Dodgers debut. Six innings, 5 hits, 1 walk, 7 strikeouts and no runs.

I see Kerry Carpenter is on rehab assignment in Toledo. Too late to save this season but if he comes back up along with one or two of our young stars of the future they could get on a run at the end of the year to set things up for next season.

Parker Meadows struggled earlier this year and was sent down to the minors for all of June. It worked. Since he came back, he has been hitting over .400 with us. Granted it that is only 7 games but still it is a vast improvement from earlier this season. He keeps this up and he will be one of our big bats for next year. Our record is meh, but I see hope in some young guys. If we can stay healthy, we have at least two really good starting pitchers, the potential for 4-5 good hitters and a decent to strong bullpen to build on for next season.

Well, I kind of jinxed poor Parker. He went hitless today. Since coming back from his assignment in Toledo in June he played 3 games in July, got hurt, and 5 games in August before today. He had a hit in all 8 games and in fact had 2 hits in each of his 5 games in August. He had 2 hit games in 6 or the last 7 he played in for the Tigers.

He's baaaaaaaaaaack. Keith Carpenter returns to the lineup and got 3-5 with a pair of HRs. He got our bats warmed up as we score 15 runs on 20 hits. I knew he was important and would give our offense a charge but I wasn't expecting anything like this.

Carpenter only had one hit tonight. Of course, it was a two run HR to tie the game that we ended up winning in the 10th. So, yea he has made an impact in the two games he has been back for. I feel if we can stay relatively healthy next season, we have a shot at a wild card and the playoffs.

Sweep, sweep, sweep. No offense to Zeke but can we just play Seattle for the rest of the season?

Yea but a glimmer of hope for next year. A few bright spots this year were Skubal, Olson and Keith. Skubal and Olson should give us a strong one two punch at the top of the pitching staff and Keith is a nice young hitter. Green and Carpenter are both good young hitters and it looks like maybe Meadows is starting to get it together with his hitting.
