This is actually a major story in my fed, Flair got paralyzed in my universe and through procedures by Diamond Medical he was able to walk again. Diamond Tech would eventually lead to the Royal Court in CotG.

If Flair is out of the picture, does Magnum T.A. get brought into Mid-Atlantic if the HW Champ is a fan-fave (Dusty?), or does Vince scoop up Magnum before that? If Magnum goes to the WWF, does he still have that career-ending car crash?
Without Hogan in the WWF, does DON MURACO turn face and take Hogan's place? Muraco is a company man, so he would be willing to follow Vince's orders, but do the fans buy a face turn to the extend Vince wants to push him?
Plenty of possibilities, that's for sure!

Hey @kevinb have you been reading my mind. I have been thinking of starting a thread much like this. It actually predated the TV show as awhile back I was thinking how we get books and videos discussing the history of how things went down, like the formation of nWo and other things, but it would be interesting to hear some of the stories of things that were planned but did not happen. Like how it looked like Jim Advil would not resign with WWF so the Rockers won the tag titles. What was the plan going forward with them as champs, for both them and for Bret. Also what if Hogan had signed with TNA in that first year or so. They were planning on him signing and having their first 3 hour Sunday PPV, Bound For Glory, then but of course he did not sign and went back to WWE. Anyways, this is a very cool thread and enjoying all the speculation. Keep it up.

Sadly the Rockers would have just had a short reign and drop them to Power and Glory from what I've read.

As a fan of Power and Glory I would have enjoyed that. Small compensation for if the Hart Foundation had been over.

One thing that no Flair would have effected is probably no Four Horsemen. So many, many feuds might not have happened. Also the influence on wrestlers, from Flair, and on factions, from Horsemen, would not have happened. In the past I have theorized what would have happened if Flair simply was not in the plane crash resulting in his hurting his back. From what I have read he was more a power guy and changed due to his back, losing weight and so on.

From what I have read he was more a power guy and changed due to his back, losing weight and so on. Oh. That's right, no Horsemen. Wow, I hadn't even thought about that! This would result in no "four fingers pose" from Arn in EVERY picture, no Horsemen for Sting, no Horsemen for Mongo, Roma, Sid, Lex, etc... And no heel turn for Windham! Who would headline all those Starrcades without Flair then? idk Would Ron Garvin still have won the Belt then in '87? Would Kerry VE still have won the HW Belt also? If Flair had died in that plane crash, then no Charlette Flair either since she wouldn't have been his daughter! Does Jim Ross get fired as well, since he was fired (rumor has it) when he couldn't control Flair's behavior at a media event (I forget which one)? Does Buddy Landell still pick up the "Nature Boy" gimmick and replace Flair? Maybe on the first part, but I don't think the last part would have lasted all that long if he had. So many possibilities still to think of! Todd C WTIC

Buddy would still have had his drug issues, so no.

Here is the one that I have proposed elsewhere, and I always find the answers very interesting....
What If?.....The Slam Heard Around the World....
Pontiac Silverdome. 93,173 fans watch as The Hulkster motions that he is going to slam Andre the Giant! The place goes wild as Hogan reaches down, scoops up Andre and lifts him high into the air. But then something goes wrong.....
Something in Hogan's back gives way. He collapses under the weight and crashes to the mat with The Giant on top of him. The referee has no choice but to count the pinfall, and Andre The Giant becomes the WWF Heavyweight Champion of the World, and Wrestlemania III ends with the crowd in stunned disbelief.
So that is your assignment.....
Hulk Hogan suffers a fluke career ending injury on the biggest stage of them all, at the height of his popularity, at what may be the companies biggest moment.
How does WWF recover? Who is the next great babyface? Does it sink the company? Does it impact Crockett, Gagne, or Fritz in any way?

Tough.....WWF would have of course been devastated by that but I think recovery was possible. I think Savage and perhaps Nikita Koloff could have taken the babyface torch. Whether Nikita would still step away with his wife's health issues is an obvious unknown of course.
Crockett would have been impacted whether Vince takes Nikita or not. He has a chance to do more but the question is....does it still cause them to crash and burn by expanding into places they probably should have left alone? Most likely. Verne...hard to say, they were in trouble in 87 but if Vince faltered, Verne might have got a few more years left without the constant loss of talent.
Fritz was probably going down regardless especially after Kerry's injury in 86 and what happened with Mike. I don't think anything that didn't involve a different history of the Von Erichs changes it.
