Card #2
Billy Varga vs El Santo - Los Angeles native Billy Varga makes his GWA debut against fellow newcomer El Santo, from Hidalgo, Mexico. Things start off even and competitive, but things eventually turned the way of El Santo. The coup du gras was a stunning leap from the turnbuckle that sent Santo violently into Varga, sending him crashing to the mat for the three count. SANTO PINS VARGA
George Tragos vs Al Costello - This international matchup of the Greek Tragos against the Australian proved to be a quick workover by George Tragos. Costello would eventually succumb to the Grecian Sleeper. TRAGOS WINS BY SUBMISSION
Bull Curry vs Gory Guerrero - The one sided string of matches would continue, as Gory Guerrero proved too much for the wildman, Bull Curry. Guerrero showed off a new modified powerbomb to finish off his opponent. GUERRERO PINS CURRY
Maurice Tillet vs Buddy Rogers - GWA fans were finally treated to a spectacular match. Tillet administered his share of damage to his opponent, but Rogers countered with an excellent display of grappling skill. Eventually, Tillet violently sent his opponent flying out of the ring and into the barriers at ringside. Rogers was unable to recover in time, and Tillet's arm was raised. TILLET WINS BY COUNTOUT
Lou Thesz vs John Pesek - WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT - BEST OF 3 FALLS - The Prairie Tiger has been described as the best yet to wear the GWA Championship Belt. Tonight, Lou Thesz proved to be at least his equal. In the first fall, Pesek's toughness was evident, but was overwhelmed by Thesz' undeniable skill in the ring. Thesz employed a Greco-Roman backdrop, managed to hook the champ's leg, and got the pin. Pesek as expected, fought back with the intensity the champ has been known for, but eventually was flattened by his opponent's patented Thesz Press. The ref counted to three, raised Thesz' arm, and presented him with the Championship belt. THESZ PINS PESEK IN TWO STRAIGHT FALLS FOR THE TITLE

Card #3
Billy Varga vs Danny McShain - The tough guy from Arkansas seemed to control the match for several minutes. Suddenly, Varga executed an stunning combination, starting with a headlock into a spinning single leg takedown, into a head scissors, into a rolling biel throw, then pounced on McShain, delivered a series of strikes, and hooked his leg for an unexpected pin. VARGA PINS MCSHAIN
Red Berry vs Roy Heffernan - The redhead drew the assignment to face Aussie Heffernan in his GWA debut. The two exchanged strikes and holds for several minutes before Heffernan tumbled out of the ring. From the ring apron, Heffernan tossed Berry out of the ring to the arena floor, and was disqualified by the referee. BERRY WINS BY DISQUALIFICATION
Bull Curry vs Maurice Tillet, w/ Special Guest Referee Babe Ruth - The retired Yankees legend is invited back to join the action here in the GWA. The two opponents in his first assigned match are no strangers to the Babe. Ruth had his hands full, in trying to enforce the rules between these two. At one point, The Babe had to separate the two grapplers, and when the Frenchman tried to shove him out of his way, Ruth shoved back, sending the surprised Tillet back a foot or two. That would not be the last transgression, as minutes later, Curry sent Tillet sprawling out of the ring, to the barriers at ringside. When Curry pounced and took the fight outside, Ruth had seen enough and called for the bell. On realizing The Babe's decision, Curry grabbed a chair, and met Ruth in the ring, bat at the ready. The two exchanged pleasantries for a minute in a tense standoff. TILLET WINS BY DISQUALIFICATION
Gorgeous George vs El Santo, with Special Guest Referee Babe Ruth - Not long after seeing Bull Curry escorted from the ring and back to the lockerroom, Ruth was encountered by the jeering, scowling Gorgeous George, clearly no fan of The Bambino being involved in another of his matches. The Gorgeous One's opponent tonight would be impressive newcomer El Santo. The Luchador took command of the match early on, as George again seemed as intent in battling Ruth as he was El Santo. After sending El Santo sprawling out of the ring, George shoved the Babe on his way out to join him. Ruth had enough, and disqualified George, sending the Gorgeous one into a seething, screaming tirade as Ruth was escorted to the back room. SANTO WINS BY DISQUALIFICATION
Black Shadow vs George Tragos - The finale found our other Lucha warrior take the ring against the capable Tragos. The Greek controlled the match from the opening bell, seeming to be a step quicker at every opportunity. Before Black Shadow had a chance to gather his thoughts, Tragos had his head locked in the Grecian Sleeper. Shadow's eyes opened just after Tragos' arm had been raised. TRAGOS WINS BY SUBMISSION

Glad to see Varga winning here.
Ruth is not shy with throwing out a DQ apparently.
Also a huge fan of Tragos, so glad to see him win.
Gonna throw my support behind Lou Thesz in the title match. One of, if not my singular, favorites of all time.

In these first seasons, I'm using the early era charts that I believe came with the Legends VII set. As I'm new to the game, I don't have anything to compare it to yet, but there are a number of opportunities for countouts and DQs.
Ruth's referee card allows for some interesting interaction by Ruth, but so far the dice have only allowed him that one shove of Tillet.
Tragos' career span is not a long one. Enjoy him while you can. Lou Thesz on the other hand promises to be in the mix for the gold for quite a while.

Card #4
Jim Londos vs Chief Don Eagle - The chiseled Greek Londos entered the ring on a mission to finally establish himself as a serious force in the GWA. In Londos' way was another impressive athlete, Don Eagle. Once the bell rang, Londos set about tearing down the young Mohawk. Eagle was slammed to the mat several times before Londos finally pinned him to make it official. LONDOS PINS EAGLE
Yukon Eric vs John Pesek - The mountain man from the Yukon looks to establish himself. The Prairie Tiger looks to repair his reputation. The former champ would have his day today. Pesek wore down Eric, took him to the mat, and locked on this Tiger Toehold. PESEK WINS BY SUBMISSION
Al Costello vs Buddy Rogers - The on again - off again Buddy Rogers was on in this encounter with Mr. Costello. Rogers dominated most of the action, eventually sending Costello to the mat with a pair of well executed drop kicks and a jumping knee smash. So what if you thought you saw Rogers use the rope for leverage when he pinned him. It's over. ROGERS PINS COSTELLO
Gory Guerrero vs Bronko Nagurski - Gory and Bronko would meet in our next match, in an interesting pairing of contenders. They gave us a tightly fought contest for several minutes until the repeated slams and strikes started to wear Guerrero down. Nagurski hoisted Gory up on his shoulders for an airplane spin, deposited him, and pinned the disoriented Guerrero for the win. NAGURSKI PINS GUERRERO
Rod Fenton vs Lou Thesz - GWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT - BEST OF 3 FALLS - Rod Fenton had been on an impressive run of late, including a win over Nagurski. Fenton's impressive run would end with a thud at the hands of Lou Thesz. The Champ outclassed his opponent from the opening bell, and did not relent. Thesz would secure the pin after a Greco-Roman backdrop to take the first fall, and finished off Fenton with the Thesz press for the pin in the second. THESZ WINS IN STRAIGHT FALLS

He's got a while to go before he'll have to worry about Harley Race.

Card #5
Danny McShain vs Gorgeous George - The Roughian McShain enters the ring to meet Gorgeous George. The match goes fairly evenly until George is laid out by a well timed forearm. McShain gathered up the Gorgeous One, and put him away with a vicious pile driver. The ref could have counted to ten, but only needed three. MCSHAIN PINS GEORGE
Bull Curry vs Bronko Nagurski - The wild man stepped into the ring against the Chicago Bears' legend. The match quickly became an exhibition for Nagurski, while Curry became more and more frustrated. After bailing out of the ring to evade Nagurski's infamous crab hold, Curry snapped and took his frustration out on the ref. NAGURSKI WINS BY DQ.
Black Shadow vs Buddy Rogers - The Luchador Shadow squares off against the All American Rogers. This one would start off as a vicious melee, and spill outside of the ring into a wild brawl. Unable to regain order, the ref called for the bell, and in a controversial call, disqualified the Black Shadow, raising Rogers' hand. The crowd sounded their displeasure, which clearly annoyed Rogers. ROGERS WINS BY DQ.
Rod Fenton vs Yukon Eric - The Canadian brawler would meet the brawny mountain man in our next bout. This one quickly turned into a brawl, eventually spilling outside of the ring. Before the ref had to get involved, Fenton crawled back into the ring, waited for Eric to enter and get to his feet, and floored him with a dropkick. The Lightning Rod then pounced on the prone Eric for the pin. FENTON PINS ERIC
George Tragos vs Gory Guerrero - Our Main Event of the evening pits two top contenders against each other. Tragos would lock Guerrero in a sleeper hold. Guerrero seemed to be fading when he miraculously reached the rope. A clearly groggy Guerrero clinched with Londos, but stumbled out of the ring. Seemingly disoriented and possibly injured, Guerrero was unable to return to the ring before the count. TRAGOS WINS BY COUNTOUT
