Thanks for the picks Vegas , Cruising00 and walkswithwolf Frank Gotch (17) v. Del Wilkes (48) The competitors shake hands at the bell under the watchful eye of Morgan Dollar. The speed of Gotch catches Wilkes off his guard and the masked competitor is quickly down to the mat and reaching for the ropes to escape a guillotine choke (R4/P3). Gotch moves into a scorpion death lock, reverse nelson. Gotch transitions to a crossface and arm bar. Wilkes frees himself but Gotch goes back to the same hold for a near submission (R10/P5). Iowa backdrop puts Wilkes to the mat again. Gotch goes to the top. Splash misses! Wilkes has his first opening. Connects with a standing dropkick for a one count (R8/P1). Atomic drop rocks Gotch. Belly to belly suplex is countered into an Iowa backdrop. Tackle but a flying mare is countered into a power slam. POP! 1, 2, KICK OUT (R4/P2). PATRIOT MISSILE. TWOOOO! (R10/P3). Another PATRIOT MISSILE. 1, 2, kick out (R7/P4). OUT OF MY SEAT! Deathjump smash, forearm and a belly-to-belly suplex. Gotch eats forearms and jabs. Power Slam . . . Gotch bails. Wilkes is fired up and follows . . . Dr. Mike Lano the human foreign object! Wilkes is stunned. Back inside, Gotch grabs a leg . . . GOTCH TOEHOLD. ROAING! ROPE BREAK! (R10/P8). Gotch tosses Wilkes to the floor. Forearms fly at ringside! Half nelson crotch hold slam. Kick to the leg. Gotch takes it back to the mat again and again. Head butt . . . MY GOD! Gotch is relentless. Wilkes is getting tied up all over the mat. Kick to the leg misses, double forearm clap stuns Gotch. Belly to belly plants Gotch. Elbow jab is countered into a headlock and trip. Both men are struggling. Gotch with a kick to the leg … allows for a reverse nelson. Wilkes is sent into the buckles. Gotch charges . . . lariat counter! PATRIOT MISSILE. 1, 2, KICK OUT! OUT OF MY SEAT! THIS IS AWESOME! PATRIOT MISSILE. 1, 2, 3/KICK OUT! (R6/P6). Bell sounds. Confusion . . . Wilkes has it! GOTCH IS OUT IN THE FIRST ROUND. It is serious disappointment that Gotch is out this early and out of next year’s tournament as well. It appears gnw2022 that Gotch’s struggles followed him to the tournament from your fed. Up next… “Strangler” Ed Lewis (16) v. Mad Dog Vachon (49)

You never know what is going to happen in these matches but next bout i am going with Mad Dog Vachon. You are absolutely right. The 10 roll for Wilkes when Gotch had his finisher locked in mid way through the match was huge. In the end, Wilkes was able to consistently roll his finisher, Gotch was not. Thanks for the following along and making the pic. I am not sure who will take the next one. Vachon has pulled out big wins in the past for me.

Well that was… unexpected. But in these tournaments I’ve come to expect the unexpected.
Gotta go with Ed Lewis next.

Gotch must have said something mean about America or Wilkes mother to earn all those PATRIOT MISSILES. LOL. I actually like the idea of Gotch as a heel.
