WWL Fall 90
Week 10
Los Angeles Stars (3-6) @ Chicago Muscle (4-5)
(O) Cannibal (C) beat Scourge (LA) via DQ. Time: 3:15 Fatigue: Cannibal-1 (MC) Mesmer (LA) beat Massif (C) with Blackout. Time: 5:19 Fatigue: Massif-1 (ME) Bishop Hell (LA) beat Bounty Hunter (C) after a failed sunset flip attempt. Time: 10:28 Fatigue: Bishop Hell-3
Winner: Los Angeles 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: Scourge made his debut as Splatter was suspended and Invincible Krakan was given the night off. HIs DQ was the first of the season of course due to being his first match. --- Both Los Angeles and Chicago will go into the off-season with a lot of questions to answer regarding their rosters.
London Red Coats (2-7) @ Glasgow Rangers (4-5)
(O) King Lear (G) beat Rogue (L) with The Coronation. Time: 24:39 Fatigue: Rogue-2 (MC) Incredible Badger (G) beat Mad Jester (L) with Burrow Blast. Time: 5:33 Fatigue: Mad Jester-1, Incredible Badger-1 (ME) Bloodline (G) beat Chopper Mattock (L) with shining star. Time: 3:45 Fatigue: none
Winner: Glasgow 3-0
Injuries: None
NOTES: With Star Warrior suspended and Lance At-Las sitting out due to injuries London did not have the best lineup. Thus, they got swept. --- London secured the top pick in the Spring 91 draft. --- Glasgow finished at .500 as they won 2 more games than last year. So, that is something positive for them. Without the best rosters they improved and can look to next season.
Mexico City Fire (6-3) @ Toronto Juggernauts (3-6)
(O) Matter (T) beat Actagon (MC) with Positive Charge. Time: 9:09 Fatigue: Actagon-2, Matter-1 (MC) Dreggs (T) beat Soldier of Fortune (MC) with Twist And Shout. Time: 1:59 Fatigue: Soldier of Fortune-1 (ME) Chaos (MC) beat Iron Mane (T) with Bow Of Defeat. Time: 5:43 Fatigue: Iron Mane-3
Winner: Toronto 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: Toronto got to play spoiler as Mexico City could have wrapped up a playoff spot with a win. Now they have to hope New York losses to get in. --- Toronto will be looking toward the Spring 91 Draft as they will have two top picks, their own and the one Barcelona traded to them.
Paris Legion (4-5) @ Barcelona Conquistadors (2-7)
(O) Mayhem (P) beat Lord Nexus (B) with Leap Of Doom. Time: 3:19 Fatigue: Lord Nexux-2 (MC) Massacre (P) beat Pegasus (B) with falling knee crunch. Time: 7:11 Fatigue: Pegasus-2 (ME) Justice (P) beat Battering Ram (B) via DQ. Time: 14:35 Fatigue: Justice-3, Battering Ram-1
Winner: Paris 3-0
Injuries: None
NOTES: Battering Ram lost his cool out on the floor and hit Justice with a chair. It is his first DQ of the season. It was the frustration out of a lost season coming out. --- Paris got the sweep going into the offseason. They finish at 5-5 and have some positive things to build over including a solid starting lineup. --- Barcelona however is in shambles. Nothing went right including the trade that brought them Battering Ram and Nexus while costing them their 1st round pick which will be the #2 pick. It will be a tough offseason as they try and figure out how to right the ship.
New York Titans (5-4) @ Las Vegas Aces (6-3)
(O) Proteus (NY) beat Doomsday Creature (LV) via DQ. Time: 3:21 Fatigue: Doomsday Creature-1 (MC) Exo-King (LV) beat Dragonmaster (NY) via count out. Time: 10:21 Fatigue: Dragonmaster-2, Exo-King-1 (ME) Galactic Punisher (NY) beat Thantos (LV) with Life Sentence. Time: 23:44 Fatigue: Galactic Punisher-2, Thantos-4
Winner: New York 2-1
Injuries: Thantos has a mild injury but it should not slow him down.
NOTES: In the Opening match Doomsday Creature kept beating on Actagon on the floor and ignored the ref resulting in the DQ. It was his first DQ of the season. --- In the Mid-Card match Exo-King applies Death Vise on Dragonmaster on the floor and then rolled back in. Dragonmaster was already a bit banged up going into the match and he ended up getting counted out. --- With things tied up at 1-1 it looked like Las Vegas would win and send New York into the offseason while Mexico City would slide into the playoffs. Galactic Punisher had other ideas. He and Thantos had a long brutal match that saw Thantos come out on the short side. It was his first loss of the season thus preventing him from matching Star Warrior's perfect 10-0 season from just last season. --- Las Vegas, New York and Mexico City all ended up on the top of the North American Conference with the same record. An explanation of how it was decided who would be the two teams in the playoffs is provided down below.
Highlight Game of the Week.
Rome Empire (8-1) @ Frankfurt Knights (7-2)
(O) Wolf (F) beat Spike (R) with Savage Face Claw. Time: 11:43 Fatigue: Spike-3, Wolf-1 (MC) Encubus (F) beat Vigilante (R) with Gamemaster DDT. Time: 9:04 Fatigue: Vigilante-5, Encubus-2 (ME) Raven (R) beat Matador of M83 with Bladerunner. Time: 6:58 Fatigue: Raven-5, Matador-1
Winner: Frankfurt 2-1
Injuries: Vigilante has a medium injury that will bother him for a week but not too bad.
NOTES: The home crowd was loud, especially the Wolf Pack. After Wolf got the Opening match win the crowd got even louder. They knew the regular season Conference crown was on the line. That would mean home advantage for the Conference Championship Game. --- In the Mid-Card match, Vigilante hit Police Brutality early but only got a two count. After that he was in a lot of trouble but he stood strong. He found himself in the Maffei Masterlock three times and was hit with a Second Coming and a Gamemaster DDT but none of that beat him. It was the second Gamemaster DDT that finally put him away. --- The crowd exploded with the game win. They would get to see their team here in the Conference Championship against this very Rome team. --- Raven survived a run that included a running torpedo. double flying fist and a Bullwhip. He kicked out all three times. He eventually got the win but he was hurting. In fact, all three men for Rome took a beating. It seems Frankfurt Knights were sending a message before they meet again in the playoffs.
League Notes: With Las Vegas Aces, New York Titans and Mexico City Fire ending in a three-way tie at matching records of 6-4 it went down to tie breakers to see where they finish. Each team was 1-1 in head-to-head games against the other. So, it then went to overall match record. That left Mexico City out of the playoffs while Las Vegas and New York were still tied. Next was head-to-head matches where they were each 3-3. Then it goes to head-to-head in Main Event with each team having one win. That leaves it down to the final deciding factor. A one game playoff. They will play earlier in the week to decide who wins the regular season Conference title and thus home advantage in the Conference Championship game. A coin flip will be used to decide who has home advantage in the one game playoff.

Time: 15:33 Fatigue: Exo-King-2, Dragonmaster-3 (ME) Thantos (LV) beat Galactic Punisher (NY) with a Cobra Clutch Suplex. Time: 10:07 Fatigue: Thanos-3, Galactic Punisher-3
Winner: New York 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: The Vegas coach and Thantos decided to go with Pulsar Prime in the Opening match. It did not go well as he was counted out (snake eyes). --- The home crowd erupted when Dragonmaster got the pin. It meant they officially won the regular season Conference title, their second, and will be home against these same Las Vegas Aces in the playoffs. --- While the game was over Thantos still had pride to play for. Not only did he want a win in general but wanted payback for losing his perfect regular season record due to the loss to Galactic Punisher last week. --- New York has now beaten Las Vegas twice in a roll. Can they do it a third time in the North American Conference Championship? If they do, they will be in the WWL Cup for the second time with a chance to be the first to win it more than once.

WWL Fall 90
WWL Conference Championship Games
North American Conference Championship
Las Vegas Aces @ New York Titans
(O) Proteus (NY) beat Doomsday Creature (LV) via DQ. Time: 12:00 Fatigue: Doomsday Creature-1, Proteus-2 (MC) Dragonmaster (NY) beat Exo-King (LV) when King tried a cross body block off the top rope and he caught King and hit a Samoan Drop. Time: 7:47 Fatigue: Exo-King-2, Dragonmaster-1 (ME) Galactic Punisher (NY) beat Thantos (LV) with a Life Sentence. Time: 20:02 Fatigue: Thantos-7, Galactic Punisher-3
Winner: New York 3-0
Injuries: Thantos has a serious injury but can rest as his season is over.
Notes: Las Vegas went back to Doomsday Creature for the Opening match. He ended up getting disqualified. This was his second DQ of the season. The crowd popped as they realized they were one win away from the WWL Cup. A "we want the Cup" chant broke out. --- Dragonmaster took the fight to Exo-King. When he caught King coming off the top and hit the Samoan Drop the crowd got excited. When he made the three count the crowd went nuts. They were going back to the WWL Cup. --- A dejected Thantos came out for the Main Event. He was down due to their season being over but he did not let it affect his performance. He went to war with Galactic Punisher for 20 minutes and kept coming back when it looked like he was done. A couple minutes in he used the ropes to choke Punisher and almost got the win. That was as close as he would get. Galactic Punisher kept making pin attempts including after a Verdict and Life Sentence. Finally, Thantos had nothing left in the tank and a second Life Sentence put him away. It was his first post season loss in the WWL. --- New York got the sweep and the fans were partying.
European Conference Championship
Rome Empire @ Frankfurt Knights
(O) Spike (R) beat Wolf (F) with Megadestroyer. Time: 2:27 Fatigue: Wolf-2 (MC) Encubus (F) beat Vigilante (R) with Gamemaster DDT. Time: 3:43 Fatigue: Vigilante-6 (ME) Matador of M83 (F) beat Raven (R) with dropkick. Time: 16:21 Fatigue: Raven-4, Matador-1
Winner: Frankfurt 2-1
Injuries: Vigilante has a very serious injury but his season is over. Raven has a mild injury.
NOTES: Spike was looking for payback for the loss to Wolf last week and he got it. He hit Head Rammer and made a cover. Then a Megadestroyer but Wolf kicked out again. He knew he had Wolf in trouble, so he went for another Megadestroyer. He got the win making him 2-0 in the playoffs all time. --- Encubus knew his team could not afford another loss and he was all over the rookie Vigilante who was nursing an injury. He hit Gamemaster DDT three times, applies Maffei Masterlock twice and hit a Second Coming but Vigilante survived all of that. Another Gamemaster DDT finally put him away. That got the home crowd back into the game after Wolf's loss quiet them down some. --- The game came down to Raven and Matador of M83. Matador hit Death Run but only got a one count. Then a running torpedo and yet another one count. He hit Bullwhip and finally did some damage as he got a close 2 1/2 before Raven got his shoulder up. When Matador pinned Raven, the crowd erupted. --- Rome should feel good that they turned things around from last season and almost went to the Cup --- Frankfurt is going to the WWL Cup to face New York. This is a rematch from the Fall 89 WWL Cup.
Here is next week's schedule.

4th WWL All-Star Battle Royal
Howard Berman: Welcome to the fourth WWL All-Star Battle Royal. Three men from the North American Conference and three men from the European Conference will have a battle royal. Along with winning $10,000 for themselves the winner of the battle royal will earn the home advantage for their Conference in the WWL Cup.
Alice Bundy: Let's take a look at the six men who were voted as All-Stars all though not all will compete in the battle royal.
North American Conference: Thantos (Las Vegas), Galactic Punisher (New York), Dragonmaster (New York)
European Conference: Wolf (Frankfurt), Encubus (Frankfurt), Raven (Rome)
Alice Bundy: Due to competing in the WWL Cup Galactic Punisher, Dragonmaster, Wolf and Encubus will not compete in the Battle Royal. Also, due to injuries Thantos will not compete in the Battle Royal. Let's look at the alternates who will take their place in the battle royal.
North American Conference: Chaos (Mexico City), Actagon (Mexico City) and Massif (Chicago)
European Conference: Spike (Rome) and Justice (Paris)
Howard Berman: Vigilante of Rome was initially going to be an alternate but due to his injury he cannot compete. These picks were not without some controversy as some fans and sports reporters think Actagon and Massif were picked to stack the deck and help North America win the Battle Royal thus making New York the home team for the WWL Cup. North America has won all three previous Battle Royals with Massif winning both he was in and Actagon winning the one he was in.
Alice Bundy: I guess we are about to find out if this supposed strategy pays off. It is time for the All-Star Battle Royal.
All-Star Battle Royal
- Spike quickly makes his presence felt as he eliminates Actagon. (:16) - So much for the much talked about pairing of Actagon and Massif. - Speaking of Massif, he is battling Chaos near the ropes. Two big hosses going at it. - Meanwhile Spike and Raven are having a war in the middle of the ring. - Justice tried to take advantage of a distracted Massif by charging him. Massif saw and both men clotheslined each other. - Justice recovered but is a bit groggy. He makes the mistake of rushing Spike who grabs him and uses Justice's momentum to send him sailing over the top rope and down to the floor. (2:37) - Two men down, both eliminated by Spike. - Chaos grabs the leg of Raven and tries to toss him. Alice Bundy says, "When you want a leg of chicken but only leg of Raven is available, am I right?" - We are back to Spike and Raven throwing everything they got at each other in the middle of the ring. - Massif comes over and runs Raven into the corner. He is smashing Raven with shoulder rams. - Chaos rushes Spike and tries to clothesline him out of the ring but Spike ducks and Chaos's size and mass work against him as he crashes to the floor. (3:35) - We are down to just one man from the North American Conference. However, it is two-time Battle Royal winner Massif. - Spike is dominating. He is like a cleaning crew because he is cleaning house. - Raven and Spike battle again but this time it is near the ropes. - Massif comes over and grabs Raven, tossing him out over the top rope. (3:59) - Is Massif going to win for a THIRD time? - Spike says no as he quickly grabs Massif and hoists him up over the top and lets gravity do the rest. (4:16)
Winner: Spike from European Conference.
Eliminations:
Spike-4 Massif-1
Alice Bundy: Wow, what an exciting All-Star Battle Royal. For the first time someone from the European Conference wins. That means Frankfurt will be hosting the WWL Cup this season.
Howard Berman: Not to mention Spike continues his resurgence. Not bad for a guy that wasn't even supposed to be in the event. It took two selections competing in the WWL Cup and one of his own teammates on Rome Empire being hurt to get him in. But once he was in, he dominated. He has become quite a force in the WWL. I am sure Rome will do whatever they can to resign him as he is an important part of their future plans. Before we go, we have one last piece of business. The announcing of the seasonal awards. Alice, will you do the honors. Alice Bundy: My pleasure Howard. Here are the award winners.
MVP - Thantos (Las Vegas)
Ignitor - Wolf (Frankfurt)
Rookie - Encubus (Frankfurt)
Alice Bundy: No team sweep this season but Frankfurt did pretty well. Of course, Thantos won the MVP as he went an impressive 9-1. This is his second MVP award. Wolf who had been a Main Eventer decided to move to the Opening match position and was a big reason Frankfurt is in the WWL Cup. He got his team off to great starts so the other two, Encubus and Matador of M83, had less pressure as they only needed one win between them. The other man in the discussion for Ignitor of the Season was Spike. After a couple rough seasons, he really came into his own this season. As far as the Rookie award, there were a few names that in another season could have won. Guys like Chaos, Bloodline, Raven and Vigilante. But Encubus stood head and shoulders above them. Frankfurt is set up to be a contender for the next several seasons if they can keep this lineup together.
Howard Berman: That is the thing, not just for them but for many teams as we head into the offseason after the WWL Cup next week. A lot of teams have top guys whose contracts are done. Will they resign or try free agency? Even the MVP who technically has one season left on his contract but it is a player option. Meaning he could declare himself eligible for FA after the season is done. It should be an exciting off season but before we get to that there is the little business of crowning a WWL Cup champion. Frankfurt Knights will host the New York Titans next week in a rematch of the Fall 89 WWL Cup. New York won that one but they were the home team. This time they are the visitors. Will they earn their second WWL Cup or will Frankfurt get payback for their last Cup matchup? Tune into the WWL Cup to find out here on ESPN Space. For Alice Bundy I am Howard Berman and we will see you at the matches.
Here is next week's schedule.

Cool stuff! LOVE the BR! I need to play out one or two in my fed sometime! And is $10,000 really all that much money here? With inflation and all? Even Doctor Evil would ask for at least -- Todd C WTIC It is a six man battle royal so cannot expect a lot of money for winning it. The main reason to win is home advantage for the WWL Cup and the money is thrown in for something extra for winning the one match. It like current athletes who make millions a year and get a small bonus for making the All-Star team or reaching a stat level (ie 1000 yards rushing) that they should get to based on their salary.

ESPN Space Special Presentation
WWL Cup Fall 90
Howard Berman: Welcome to Frankfurt, Germany and WWL Cup Fall 90. I am joined by the talented and insightful Alice Bundy.
Alice Bundy: Thanks Howard. This is going to be an exciting WWL Cup. It is a rematch of WWL Cup Fall 89. That one took place in New York and the Titans won. Some things are the same this time and some are different. For instance, Wolf was in the Main Event in that Cup and this time around he will be in the Opening match. That was something he decided on doing at the start of the season and it has worked out for him and the Knights. Also, Encubus, the Rookie of the Year is on the team this time.
Howard Berman: This is the fourth WWL Cup but first time the European Conference Champion will be the host team. The North American Conference won the first two Cups on their home turf than last season London won the first Cup for the European Conference on the road. Will the European Conference make it two in a row to even things with North American Conference or will New York win their second WWL Cup? We are about to find out.
New York Titans @ Frankfurt Knights
(O) Proteus (NY) beat Wolf (F) with Grecian Sleeper Grip. Time: 13:43 Fatigue: Proteus-4, Wolf-1
Notes: The home fans and Wolf Pack were loud and proud at the start of the game and match. They want the cup...bad. Wolf was dominating the match and seemed to have Proteus injured as he looked to have a bad wheel. Things went south for Wolf when he rushed at Proteus in the corner and Proteus found a way to move. Wolf crashed hard, shoulder first into the ring post. Proteus made a cover and only got a two. He quickly applied his finisher and put Wolf away. --- Proteus, thanks to the post season game to determine who won the regular season North American Conference title, became the first man to go 3-0 in the post season. It is wild to think that before this season he was 1-4 in WWL. He went 3-1 in the regular season and then 3-0 in the post season. But he was not in a mood to celebrate as he needed help getting to the back. --- As for Wolf, he sat in the ring for a bit after his match wondering what went wrong. He went 0-2 in the playoffs. Not good for a man who jump started his team all season long.
(MC) Encubus (F) beat Dragonmaster (LV) with Maffei Masterlock. Time: 9:00 Fatigue: Dragonmaster-2, Encubus-4
Notes: Encubus knew he could not afford to lose if Frankfurt wanted to win the Cup. He took the fight to Dragonmaster at the expense of his health. Dragonmaster hit a Dragon Drop and came close to earning the win then. Encubus was favoring his left shoulder after that move but he fought on. He hit a Gamemaster DDT and when that did not earn him the win, he tossed Dragonmaster out of the ring and waited. Once Dragonmaster was back in the ring Encubus applied his finisher in the middle of the ring and got the victory to know up the game 1 fall apiece.
(ME) Galactic Punisher (NY) beat Matador of M83 (F) with Life Sentence. Time: 6:49 Fatigue: Galactic Punisher-2, Matador-4
Notes: This match had a lot of back and forth as both men knew what was on the line. --- Galactic Punisher hit a swift kick and covered for a 2 count. He then went to the top rope and jumped off but was met by a stiff forearm from Matador. Matador covered and got a close 2 1/2 count. A bit later Galactic Punisher fought back and he kept control till the end. when he hit his finisher and made the pin the place got mostly quiet. A few New York fans who made the trip cheered. --- Frankfurt came up short while New York won their second WWL Cup. Not bad considering they were not in the playoff talk for most of the season. They got hot at the end to tie Las Vegas, beating them three times in a row to get here.
Winner: New York 2-1
Injuries: Proteus has an ACL partial tear and is doubtful for next season. Encubus has a serious shoulder injury but is probable to be ready at the start of Spring 91.
Alice Bundy: That was an intense WWL Cup. The North American Conference has claimed their third WWL Cup, second for New York, and we see the road team win for the second season in a row.
Howard Berman: It was exciting to say the least. Now, we head into the offseason where players were be cut, players will be signed or resigned and we will have the draft. The only WWL draft in 91. A note to pass on, WWL officials have released the salary cap for Spring 91. It will be $800K which is an increase of $150K from this season. A sign the league is doing good and that players are asking for more money. Well, that wraps up the Fall 90 season. It sure was a wild ride and odds are Spring 91 will be the same. We will see you throughout the offseason and of course at the beginning of Spring 91. For Alice Bundy I am Howard Berman and we will see you at the matches.

ESPN Space News Update
WWL news
Here is a list of the wrestlers that were not resigned, either by the team's decision or the players.
These are entering the free agency pool:
US Patriot Soldier of Fortune Pulsar Prime Doomsday Creature Mad Jester Rogue Lord Nexus Killer Queen Splatter
These are entering the Spring 91 draft:
Whiplash Sectarian Death Masque Fury
In addition to these moves a few men, none were on a team, have left the WWL:
Astro Turk Black Hole Bart Death Knight
One last bit of news to pass on. In the first season of Two DQ equaled a suspension there were 20 men that picked up a DQ. Of those, 6 picked up a 2nd DQ and were suspended for one week. One of those was in the playoffs. That was Doomsday Creature and since his team, Las Vegas, was eliminated he will have to serve that one-week suspension the next season he is on a team. He missed the first two weeks of Fall 90 due to a suspension over not informing the League about going thru the Transvolver. WWL Officials feel there were still too many DQ's but feel the program is working.

Chaos inks new deal; is now highest paid player.
Since he entered the WWL Chaos had something he wanted. That was to be the highest paid player. Well, as of now he is. He signed a new contract with Mexico City that will pay him $200K a season for the next three seasons. So, not only is he the highest paid player but he is the first to get to the $200K a season mark.
Previously two-time MVP Thantos was the highest paid player at $190K a season. As for Thantos, he has one year left on his contract but he can opt out if he wishes and become a free agent. So far, he has not said what he plans on doing.

ESPN Space Breaking News
WWL breaking news
Chaos's time as top paid player was short lived as Thantos signs new contract.
Chaos was the first man to sign a contract for $200K a season and that did not sit well with the reigning MVP. "I have the best winning percentage of anyone in WWL at .750 and I have won the MVP award not once but twice. What has Chaos done? He lost his first match and went 6-4. His team did not make the playoffs." he was quoted as saying.
What did Thantos do? He opted out of the last year of his contract with Las Vegas which he had the ability to do and signed as a free agent with Los Angeles for 3 seasons at $225 a season. What a shift of power in the North American Conference this is. Las Vegas Aces, who did not resign Pulsar Prime or Doomsday Creature now lose their top wrestler. Meanwhile, Los Angeles who lost Splatter when he choose to not resign gain the top man in the WWL. It is believed that Bishop Hell will move to the Mid-Card match as of course Thantos will take the Main Event. With Invincible Krakan in the Opening match Los Angeles has become the favorite to with the NAC in the upcoming season. Of course, the draft, and other moves, could change things between now and then.
