WWL news
The Las Vegas Aces have holes to fill on their roster, especially after losing Thantos to free agency. So, they singed a FA of their own. They signed Soldier of Fortune to a one season contract for $120K. He will not fill the void of Thantos of course but does give the Aces a solid hand to use in games. He was considered by most the top FA out there not signed.
The ESPN Space WWL Spring 91 Draft preview show is just around the corner. Here is the current draft order.
Spring 91
1st round
1 - London 2 - Toronto (from Barcelona via trade) 3 - Toronto 4 - Los Angles 5 - Chicago 6 - Paris 7 - Glasgow 8 - Mexico City 9 - Las Vegas 10 - Rome 11 -Frankfurt 12 - New York
2nd round
1 - Chicago (from London via trade) 2 - Barcelona 3 - Barcelona (from Toronto via trade) 4 - Los Angeles 5 - Chicago 6 - Paris 7 - Glasgow 8 - Mexico City 9 - Barcelona (from Las Vegas via trade) 10 - Las Vegas (from Rome via trade) 11 -Frankfurt 12 -Rome (from New York via trade)

ESPN Space Special Presentation
WWL Spring 91 Draft preview.
Howard Berman: Welcome to the ESPN Space Special Presentation, the WWL Spring 91 Draft preview. This will be a special draft as there will be no Fall 91 draft thus making this one important as it will set you up for the next two seasons. The next draft will be for Spring 92.
Alice Bundy: That is so true Howard. Let us take a look at the current draft order.
Spring 91
1st round
1 - London 2 - Toronto (from Barcelona via trade) 3 - Toronto 4 - Los Angles 5 - Chicago 6 - Paris 7 - Glasgow 8 - Mexico City 9 - Las Vegas 10 - Rome 11 - Frankfurt 12 - New York
2nd round
1 - Chicago (from London via trade) 2 - Barcelona 3 - Barcelona (from Toronto via trade) 4 - Los Angeles 5 - Chicago 6 - Paris 7 - Glasgow 8 - Mexico City 9 - Barcelona (from Las Vegas via trade) 10 - Las Vegas (from Rome via trade) 11 - Frankfurt 12 - Rome (from New York via trade)
Howard Berman: Thanks to a trade with Barcelona, Toronto is sitting pretty with the #2 and #3 pick overall. Meanwhile, Barcelona has three picks but all in the 2nd round as they have no 1st round pick. Alice, who do you see going first overall?
Alice Bundy: The consensus for a while now has been it will be Prodigy. I mean, heck, it's his in his name. I do not see London passing on him with the #1 pick. If, however, they decide to, it would likely be either Vengeance or Janus. About as opposite of two men as you can get. Vengeance is a man of deviance and planning while Janus is a man of prestige and action. Vengeance comes from Aethra who has produced guys like Massacre, Brute, Spike and Mayhem while Janus comes from the Citadel. After those three there is a bit of a drop off in talent.
Howard Berman: Yes, this draft class is not as strong as the last one and unlike in the past there will be no more surprise entrants as WWL has changed the date wrestlers can declare for the draft and it has passed. Who are some other names to keep an eye on that are new to the draft?
Alice Bundy: We have guys like Killing Machine, Skinhead, Stalker and Doomsayer. One thing to keep an eye on is another trade. With Toronto having both the #2 and #3 pick there has been buzz about them trading the #3 for either an established star or to trade back in the 1st round and pick up extra draft picks. Something else we should talk about is the lack of FA signings in the initial period which has closed. Some really good names were out there but only Soldier of Fortune was signed. Well, if you do not count the situation with Thantos. That sure shook things up. Here is a list of the big-name FAs that are still out there.
Free Agents:
Pulsar Prime Splatter Mad Jester Lord Nexus
Howard Berman: Speaking of Splatter, I hear he has been working out hard in the offseason to get better. He has more of an edge to him as well. Experts think he will be even better next season. US Patriot has also been working out and seems to be better than in the past. Well, that is it for our Draft preview. We hope you all can join us for the Spring 91 draft which is coming up fast. After that the FA market opens up again and before you know it, the Spring 91 season will be upon us. For Alice Bundy I am Howard Berman saying we will see you at the matches. Stay tuned for some classic Gravity Ball action here on ESPN Space.

ESPN Space Special Presentation
WWL Spring 91 Draft.
Howard Berman: I'm Howard Berman, I'm joined by Alice Bundy and welcome to the Spring 91 Draft. How's it going Alice?
Alice Bundy: Just wonderful Howard. I am as excited as the fans to see who gets drafted. First, let's take a look at the draft order for the 2 rounds of the draft. We will carry the 1st round and then post the total results.
Spring 91
1st round
1 - London 2 - Toronto (from Barcelona via trade) 3 - Toronto 4 - Los Angles 5 - Chicago 6 - Paris 7 - Glasgow 8 - Mexico City 9 - Las Vegas 10 - Rome 11 -Frankfurt 12 - New York
2nd round
1 - Chicago (from London via trade) 2 - Barcelona 3 - Barcelona (from Toronto via trade) 4 - Los Angeles 5 - Chicago 6 - Paris 7 - Glasgow 8 - Mexico City 9 - Barcelona (from Las Vegas via trade) 10 -Las Vegas (from Rome via trade) 11 -Frankfurt 12 -Rome (from New York via trade)
Howard Berman: It appears Commissioner Carter is headed to the podium to get the draft underway.
A smattering of boos gets a bit louder as Carter gets closer to the podium and he smiles.
Commissioner Carter: Thanks for that warm introduction. I want to welcome you all to the WWL Spring 91 Draft. The draft is officially underway and the London Red Coats are now on the clock.
Alice Bundy: Here we go. Will Prodigy go #1 as expected or will London pull a surprise on us?
Howard Berman: Here comes Commissioner Carter back to the podium so we are about to find out.
Commissioner Carter: With the first pick in the Spring 91 draft, the London Red Coats have selected...Prodigy. Toronto is now on the clock.
Howard Berman: As expected, London went with Prodigy. They will have a formidable lineup when you add him to Star Warrior and Lance At-Las. After winning the WWL Cup in Spring 90 they fell to the cellar in Fall 90. With this pick they could just shoot right back up to the top. Looks like Toronto has made their pick.
Commissioner Carter: With the second pick in the Spring 91 draft, the Toronto Juggernauts have selected...Janus. Toronto is again on the clock.
Alice Bundy: So, Toronto plays it safe and go with the calmer of what were considered the top two choices after Prodigy. Of course, they have the next pick so they will probably take the wild man Vengeance as well unless they bypass him for one of the other top choices.
Howard Berman: Their next pick has been slowing in coming and we just found out why. There has been a trade. Toronto is sending this pick, #3 overall, to Glasgow. In return Glasgow is sending Toronto their 1st round pick, #7, their 2nd round pick #19, and their 1st round pick in Spring 92 (TBD). What are your thoughts on that trade Alice?
Alice Bundy: This is a smart move by Toronto. They move back just 4 spots, for their second 1st round pick mind you, and they pick up not only a 2nd round pick this season but another 1st round pick in the next draft. Meanwhile, Glasgow is reaching a bit but I understand it. They feel they have their Main Event guy in Bloodline and they have their Opening match guy that they paid a lot of money too in free agency in Incredible Badger. Badger can also work Mid-Card as we saw this past season. So, they need one man to round out the roster and King Lear does not look to be it. So, they move up and hopefully get someone that can round out the lineup and make them playoff contenders.
Howard Berman: We are about to find out who that is.
Commissioner Carter: There has been a trade. Toronto has traded their pick to the Glasgow Rangers. With the third pick in the Spring 91 draft, Glasgow selects...Vengeance. Los Angeles is now on the clock.
Howard Berman: Interesting pick. He has talent, no doubt about that. But as like with most Aethrans, especially Mayhem, he has a bit of a temper. If he can find a way to keep it in check like it seems Mayhem has this could be a great pick and push Glasgow to the top. Looks like LA is not wasting time as their pick is in.
Commissioner Carter: With the fourth pick in the Spring 91 draft, Los Angeles have chosen...Killing Machine. Chicago is now on the clock.
Alice Bundy: A solid pick by LA. As we have stated before, there is a bit of a drop off after the top three on the board. This is where team GM's will be earning their money. It is easy to pick a stud like Prodigy or Chaos. It is finding the diamonds in the rough that makes or breaks a team.
Commissioner Carter: With the fifth pick in the Spring 91 draft, Chicago has selected...Stalker. Paris is now on the clock.
Commissioner Carter: With the sixth pick in the Spring 91 draft, Paris has selected...Skinhead. Toronto is now on the clock.
Alice Bundy: His questionable name withstanding, Paris made a good selection here as he is one guy I pegged that could surprise a lot of people. Toronto is on the clock now as they got this pick when they traded with Glasgow. It will be interesting to see who they pick. It will likely be someone to get depth to their bench as one would assume they will go with a starting lineup of Iron Mane, Dreggs and Janus. We are going to find out now as the pick is in.
Commissioner Carter: With the seventh pick in the Spring 91 draft, Toronto has chosen...Doomsayer. Mexico City is on the clock.
Commissioner Carter: With the eighth pick in the Spring 91 draft, Mexico City has selected...Whiplash. Las Vegas is now on the clock.
Howard Berman: Solid pick by Mexico City. Whiplash has had an interesting career in the WWL so far. He has bounced around a bit and it seemed he had found a home in New York in the Opening match position but things went south fast and with the emergence of Proteus to fill that need Whiplash found himself back in the draft. Maybe he can stick with Mexico City.
Alice Bundy: As for the next team on the clock, Las Vegas, they have had quite the ride since entering the WWL. The owner went out and made a big trade to bring Thantos in. It almost paid off this last season as they were rolling and looked like they would go on to win the Cup but New York got hot and put a stop to that dream. Then, with one season left on his contract which was the player option, he opted out and signed a huge contract with Las Angeles. So, Vegas finds themselves in rebuild mode. Hard to do with such a low pick due to doing good last season.
Commissioner Carter: With the ninth pick in the Spring 91 draft, Las Vesgas has selected...Mace. Rome is now on the clock.
Commissioner Carter: With the tenth pick in the Spring 91 draft, Rome has selected...Sectarian. Frankfurt is now on the clock.
Alice Bundy: These last two picks are fun to watch as it is the two teams that were in the WWL Cup. It is unlikely they find anyone to make the starting lineup better but they could booster their bench.
Commissioner Carter: With the eleventh pick in the Spring 91 draft, Frankfurt has selected...Antimatter. New York is now on the clock.
Commissioner Carter: With the twelfth and final pick in the 1st round of the Spring 91 draft, the defending WWL Cup Champions the New York Titans have selected...Fury. That concludes the 1st round. The second round will begin with Chicago on the clock as they got the pick in a trade with London.
Howard Berman: There you have it folks. The 1st round of the Spring 91 draft is in the books. A reminder there will be no Fall 91 draft so we will see you again for a draft before the Spring 92 season. While that is aways away there is already buzz about it as Star Warrior's oldest brother has announced he will be entering the draft and he is the very early favorite to go #1 overall. We will find out then but before that we have the Spring 91 season and we will see you there. For Alice Bundy I am Howard Berman and we will see you at the matches.

WWL The Three
The Three
3. Numerous cuts and guys not even signed
As we get closer to the start of the Spring 91 season teams have made cuts to either get down to the five-man roster, cut payroll including getting under the cap or both. An unusual occurrence this season is some teams did not even sign their 2nd round draft picks. This is due to the new rule that guys who get cut with 2 or more seasons left on their contract, as any rookie contract would be, will have the current season count against the salary cap. Thus, teams did not want to sign a rookie, cut him and have this season of their contract count against their salary cap this season. No big names were cut or let go. The biggest names were probably Mesmer and Count Necros who have match experience but not recently.
2. Talk of expansion continues
A WWL League source who did not want to be named has said the talk of expansion continues in the WWL League office. The idea is too eventually add two more teams to each Conference. The Conferences would be renamed to West and East as teams expand beyond the geographic area that the Conferences are named after now. That could happen even before expansion as the possibility of Barcelona being bought and moved to a city outside of Europe exists. Also, with eight teams in each Conference they would be divided into two divisions of four teams each. Numerous options on what to name the divisions are supposedly being discussed but the source did not have information on what they might be.
1. Comrade Terror returns to the WWL
A bit of a controversy was sparked when Comrade Terror informed WWL officials that he wanted to return to the league. Then, a mere three hours after filing the paperwork to be reinstated he signed as a free agent with the New York Titans. There was talk of possible tampering but since Terror was not officially with the league over the last few months any talks New York had with him were not in violation of any bylaws of the league. He was signed to fill the Opening match spot as Proteus is on the IR list and not expected to return this season. The contract for Comrade Terror is for 2 seasons at $140K per season. New York still has a roster spot they can fill as they have five men officially signed but Proteus does not count toward the five while on IR so it is only four spots filled.
- In other FA signings, the London Red Coats filled their last open spot by signing Pulsar Prime formerly with the Las Vegas Aces. He must have a good agent as he signed a 2 season deal at $135K a year. That makes him tied with Lance At-Las as the second highest player on the team and he is expected to be on the bench.
- Also, Glasgow signed Splatter for 2 seasons at 130K a season. It is said he was holding out for more but for some reason there were no interested parties. Glasgow seemed to one of the only if not the only team interested in signing him.

WWL Spring 91
Week 1
London Red Coats (0-0) @ Glasgow Rangers (0-0)
(O) Lance At-Las (L) beat Incredible Badger (G) after a crash into the corner and rollup. Time: 12:42 Fatigue: Lance At-Las-1, Incredible Badger-2 (MC) Vengeance (G) beat Prodigy (L) with Lethal Catapult. Time: 17:41 Fatigue: Prodigy-6, Vengeance-2 (ME) Bloodline (G) beat Star Warrior (L) with Cosmic Bing Bang. Time: 14:30 Fatigue: Star Warrior-4, Bloodline-1
Winner: Glasgow 2-1
Injuries: Prodigy has a very serious injury. He is questionable for next week and will have to deal with it for a few weeks. Star Warrior has a light injury. He is probably for next week and will have issues for 2-3 weeks.
Notes: Not the way London had hoped to start the season. --- The matches were wars both due to long time and how banged up everyone was. --- Lance At-Las got London off to a good start as he beat former teammate, the always tough Incredible Badger. That was the high point for London's night. --- The Mid-Card saw a matchup of two top picks from this past draft, #1 and #3. It was the #3 pick, Vengeance, who got early bragging rights. Just a few minutes into the match he had hit a tombstone piledrive, Eye Cleaver twice and his finisher to put the hurt on Prodigy. As it was Prodigy was hurt really bad. He needed assistance to the back after losing the match. It was feared he might be out for the season but the injury, while bad, was not season ending. --- London had a chance to win the game with a Main Event win but Bloodline took it to the older Star Warrior and adding insult to injury finished him off with his finisher that Bloodline also uses. --- After just the first week Glasgow looks like they made the right decision to trade up and take Vengeance while London is still trying to get back to their Spring 90 form where they dominated and won the Cup.
Las Vegas Aces (0-0) @ Toronto Juggernauts (0-0)
(O) Dreggs (T) beat Quasar (LV) via DQ. Time: 3:23 Fatigue: Quasar-1 (MC) Janus (T) beat Soldier of Fortune (LV) with Gordian Knot. Time: 3:12 Fatigue: Soldier of Fortune-1 (ME) Exo-King (LV) beat Iron Mane (T) with Death Vise. Time: 4:21 Fatigue: 4:21
Winner: Toronto 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: Unless like the previous game, these matches were over quickly. --- Las Vegas started their post Thantos life and it was not good. --- Quasar got the DQ to start things. It was his first of the season. Dreggs had him in Twist And Shout and almost forced Quasar to submit. Quasar was able to make it to the ropes for a break. Dreggs then tossed him out of the ring and went after him. During their brawl on the floor Quasar tackled Dreggs thru a barricade resulting in the DQ --- Rookie Janus had little trouble with Las Vegas FA Solider of Fortune. The match win won the game for the home team. --- Exo-King, back in the Main Event, won rather easily. If he could have done more of that last season Las Vegas might have been champs and still have Thantos.
Rome Empire (0-0) @ Paris Legion (0-0)
(O) Vigilante (R) beat Justice (P) with Police Brutality. Time: 11:11 Fatigue: Justice-5 (MC) Massacre (P) beat Spike (R) via DQ. Time: 1:20 Fatigue: none (ME) Mayhem (P) beat Raven (R) with Cranium Cracker. Time: 10:03 Fatigue: Raven-2
Winner: Paris 2-1
Injuries: Justice has a very serious injury. He is doubtful for next week and could miss a few weeks.
NOTES: In the Opening match Vigilante won with Police Brutality and that is what the match could have been called. He brutalized Justice. He hit his finisher early in the match, again about midway in and finally at the end to get the win. Justice was in obvious pain and needed help to the back. --- Spike must have got up on the wrong side of the bed because his match against Massacre had barely begun when he took it to the floor and slammed Massacre onto the metal ring stairs to get disqualified. It was his first DQ of the season of course. --- Mayhem, back in the Main Event spot where he started when drafted 1st overall, wrapped up the game win for Paris. He hit a Danger Zone and followed it up with a Leap Of Doom near the end of the match. While neither got him the win they softened Raven up for the eventual finish.
Mexico City Fire (0-0) @ Los Angeles Stars (0-0)
(O) Whiplash (MC) beat Invincible Krakan (LA) with Headsman Guillotine. Time: 7:50 Fatigue: Whiplash-4, Invincible Krakan-2 (MC) Actagon (MC) beat Bishop Hell (LA) via DQ. Time: 20:55 Fatigue: Actagon-2, Bishop Hell-1 (ME) Thantos (LA) beat Chaos (MC) with Masterlock. Time: 9:11 Fatigue: Chaos-2, Thantos-1
Winner: Mexico City 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: The home crowd were loud and wild as they had added Thantos to the roster and were expecting a big year. One sign said "WWL Cup or Bust". High expectations indeed. --- In the Opening match we saw Invincible Krakan almost get counted out. Once he got back in the ring, he hit a second Falling Face Slam but only got a two. A short time later a third Falling Face Slam just about did the job. However, Whiplash kicked out and fought back to get the win. A good start for the man being asked to get Mexico City off to good starts this season. Against one of the best Opening match men to boot. --- After a long match that saw Bishop Hell come close to winning a couple times, he lost his cool and did not hide that he was using Hellfire very well and the ref caught it. It is of course his first DQ of the season. --- The more things change the more they stay the same. Mexico City had the win, the first road team to win this season, but could not get the sweep thanks to Thantos. He showed why he is the two-time MVP and LA spent so much to sign him. The home fans were disappointed about the loss of course but went home with hope as Thantos beat the imposing Chaos. They know Krakan and Hell will win more than they lose this season and the Stars will be in the playoff picture. After all, New York started 3-4 last season and went on to win the WWL Cup.
Barcelona Conquistadors (0-0) @ Frankfurt Knights (0-0)
(O) Pegasus (O) beat Wolf (F) with Earth Shaker. Time: 8:28 Fatigue: Pegasus-1, Wolf-1 (MC) Matador of M83 (F) beat Battering Ram (B) with Bullwhip. Time: 4:18 Fatigue: none (ME) Encubus (F) beat Dreadnaught (B) with Second Coming. Time: 5:00 Fatigue: Dreadnaught-3
Winner: Frankfurt 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: Before the game started, they had opening ceremonies including the raising of the banner for winning the European Conference last season. Then it was time to get to work. --- The Wolf Pack went from rapid to docile after Wolf was defeated (snake eyes). Going back to the playoffs last season Wolf has been on a losing streak. Hopefully he can turn it around next week. --- Matador of M83 starts the season in the Mid-Card but he faced a familiar foe. He got the win to even up the game. --- The Main Event had a lot of drama going into it. Dreadnaught, who missed most of the last two seasons due to injuries was starting for a new team. Barcelona traded for him last season while he was on IR in anticipation of him helping this season. Meanwhile across from him, Encubus is officially the Main Event guy for Frankfurt. Encubus was all over Dreadnaught and got the W. Perhaps Dreadnaught was just working off some ring rust. Time will tell. --- Frankfurt got off to a good start in defense of their European Conference title.
Highlight Game of the Week
Chicago Muscle (0-0) @ New York Titans (0-0)
(O) Stalker (C) beat Comrade Terror (NY) with Call Of The Wild. Time: 4:33 Fatigue: Stalker-2, Comrade Terror-2 (MC) Dragonmaster (NY) beat Massif (C) with Dragon Drop. Time: 5:12 Fatigue: Massif-3 (ME) Bounty Hunter (C) beat Galactic Punisher (NY) with Ambush. Time: 2:37 Fatigue: Bounty Hunter-1, Galactic Punisher-1
Winner: Chicago 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: The crowd was still hot after the opening ceremonies that included the raising of New York's second WWL Cup banner. Proteus who is on IR was in attendance and showed off his two rings. One for the WWL Cup win and a smaller but still nice one for being voted WWL Cup Playoffs MVP --- The Opening match saw two men debuting for their teams. Stalker was a rookie while Comrade Terror returned to WWL and signed as a FA. It was the rookie that came out on top. They had a short match but did some damage to each other --- Massif was hoping to get the win and thus help Chicago earn a road game victory. Dragonmaster had other plans and dominated the big man --- As was said before, the more things change the more they stay the same. Last season there was talk that one or even both of these teams could go thru some changes especially in the Main Event. Yet here we are with Bounty Hunter facing off against Galactic Punisher. In all the seasons of WWL these two may be the most consistent via their team and position. Punisher hit Verdict and after Hunter kicked out, he took the fight to the floor. The two big powerful men brawled and Hunter won the exchange. Back in the ring he hit Ambush. After a two count he tossed Punisher out of the ring and waited for him to return. When he did, he was greeted with a second Ambush. Hunter got the win. This was a typical match for these two. Short but rough.
North American Conference Record (match results)
Mexico City Fire 1-0 (2-1) Chicago Muscle 1-0 (2-1) Toronto Juggernauts 1-0 (2-1) New York Titans 0-1 (1-2) Las Vegas Aces 0-1 (1-2) Los Angeles Stars 0-1 (1-2)

WWL Spring 91
Week 2
New York Titans (0-1) @ Las Vegas Aces (0-1)
(O) Quasar (LV) beat Comrade Terror (NY) with High Roller. Time: 11:59 Fatigue: none (MC) Soldier of Fortune (LV) beat Dragonmaster (NY) with The Revenger. Time: 3:45 Fatigue: none (ME) Galactic Punisher (NY) beat Exo-King (LV) with Verdict. Time: 8:15 Fatigue: Exo-King-2
Winner: Las Vegas 2-1
Injuries: None
Notes: The WWL Cup hangover continues as the reigning champs, New York, fall to 0-2 to start the season --- Quasar picked up his first win against New York's FA signing Comrade Terror --- Galactic Punisher got the win to avoid a sweep. He really took it to Exo-King including three straight Verdicts to get the pin
Rome Empire (0-1) @ London Red Coats (0-1)
(O) Vigilante (R) beat Pulsar Prime (L) with Police Brutality. Time: 13:06 Fatigue: Vigilante-3, Pulsar Prime-2 (MC) Spike (R) beat Lance At-Las (L) with Megadestroyer. Time: 3:55 Fatigue: Lance At-Las-1 (ME) Star Warrior (L) beat Raven (R) with Cosmic Big Bang. Time: 17:10 Fatigue: Raven-2, Star Warrior-3
Winner: Rome 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: In the Opening match Pulsar Prime, who was in due to Prodigy sitting out with his injury, used Whirlwind twice and both times Vigilante kicked out at one --- Lance At-Las back in the Mid-Card position with Prodigy out got ran over by Spike --- A hobbled Star Warrior went nose to nose with Raven and finally put him away. There was concern that Star Warrior aggravated his injury and made it worse but that does not seem to be the case
Los Angeles Stars (0-1) @ Chicago Muscle (1-0)
(O) Invincible Krakan (LA) beat Stalker (C) with Falling Face Slam. Time: 2:05 Fatigue: Stalker-3 (MC) Massif (C) beat Bishop Hell (LA) with Volcanic Drop. Time: 5:15 Fatigue: Bishop Hell-1 (ME) Thantos (LA) beat Bounty Hunter (C) with full power slam. Time: 15:41 Fatigue: Thantos-3, Bounty Hunter-1
Winner: Los Angeles 2-1
Injuries: Stalker has a medium injury. He is questionable for next week. Thantos has a light injury but is expected to go next week because after all, it's Thantos.
NOTES: The rookie Stalker tasted defeat at the hands of one of the best Opening match guys in WWL. Invincible Krakan gave him a rude welcoming with FOUR straight Falling Face Slams --- Massif got back on the winning track while Bishop Hell continues to struggle in the Mid-Card position this season --- At one point in the Main Event Bounty Hunter hit a couple moves that he followed up with pin attempts to soften Thantos up then hit Ambush which led to an oh so close 2 3/4 count. Thantos showed he is not just a skilled wrestler as he used a power move to pick up the victory for him and Los Angeles
Paris Legion (1-0) @ Barcelona Conquistadors (0-1)
(O) Skinhead (P) beat Pegasus (B) via DQ. Time: 5:00 Fatigue: Pegasus-4 (MC) Massacre (P) beat Battering Ram (B) via DQ. Time: 3:53 Fatigue: none (ME) Mayhem (P) beat Dreadnaught (B) with Leap Of Doom. Time: 12:01 Fatigue: Dreadnaught-2
Winner: Paris 3-0
Injuries: None
NOTES: Paris continues their hot start to the season --- With Justice on the sideline due to injury, Skinhead made his WWL debut in the Opening match. Near the end of the match, he hit Pegasus with a Perfect Piledrive, a Bad Attitude and then a second Bad Attitude that led to a 2 1/2 count. He tosses Pegasus out to the floor and took the fight to him. The two men brawled and Pegasus ended up using a chair resulting in the DQ. It is his first of the season. --- After the Mid-Card match it felt like either Barcelona was trying to hurt the members of Paris Legion, tank the season or both. Battering Ram and Massacre were on the floor and Ram grabbed the top part of the ring stairs and slammed them into Massacre for the DQ. It was also his first DQ of the season. --- The Main Event ended when Mayhem left the ring and Dreadnaught went after him. Mayhem hit a DDT on him on the floor then re-entered the ring. When Dreadnaught finally got back in Mayhem used Danger Zone and Leap Of Doom to finally put him away. --- Paris got an important sweep to propel them to the top of the European Conference
Toronto Juggernauts (1-0) @ Mexico City Fire (1-0)
(O) Dreggs (T) beat Whiplash (MC) with Twist And Shout. Time: 10:58 Fatigue: Dreggs-1, Whiplash-3 (MC) Actagon (MC) beat Janus (T) with reverse piledriver. Time: 3:06 Fatigue: none (ME) Iron Mane (T) beat Chaos (MC) with Final Pounce. Time: 6:24 Fatigue: Iron Mane-3, Chaos-2
Winner: Toronto 2-1
Injuries: Iron Mane has a medium injury. He is questionable for next week.
NOTES: Dreggs beat a tough Whiplash by using Twist And Shout, then hitting a nasty clothesline from the top rope and finally another Twist And Shout --- The home fans were worried at the Mid-Card started. They knew a loss here meant they lost a game but a win would probably give them the game win. Janus is a tough competitor but Actagon was up to the challenge and won in short order. Fans exploded as they knew what was coming. Or they thought they did. --- They started their low "Chaos" chant and slowly got louder and louder till it was at a fever pitch --- Chaos had Iron Mane in the Bow Of Defeat three straight times earlier in the match but Mane would not give up. Chaos tossed him out and waited for Mane to get back in. When Mane did Chaos went to the top rope, slightly unusual for him, but Iron Mane ran up the ropes and hit a bulldog on Chaos off the top. He was in control from there. A Biting Roar and cover led to a two. Then he tossed Chaos out and waited. The Final Pounce once Chaos re-entered got the upset win. --- The win for Iron Mane did come at a cost as he was holding his ribs as he left the ring afterwards --- A hush fell on the crowd. Not only did Chaos lose at home in a match he should have won but he has started 0-2 on the season
Highlight Game of the Week.
Glasgow Rangers (1-0) @ Frankfurt Knights (1-0)
(O) Wolf (F) beat Incredible Badger (G) with Savage Face Claw. Time: 3:56 Fatigue: none (MC) Matador of M83 (F) beat Vengeance (G) with Bullwhip. Time: 6:47 Fatigue: Vengeance-1, Matador-2 (ME) Bloodline (G) beat Encubus (F) with Cetus Masterlock. Time: 8:34 Fatigue: Encubus-4
Winner: Frankfurt 2-1
Injuries: Encubus has a very serious injury. Frankfurt's trainer and medical staff checked on him after the match and he could not leave under his own power.
NOTES: Not only was this a matchup of two 1-0 teams but we would finally get the matchup fans have been waiting for since they were drafted. Bloodline would face Encubus in the Main Event --- Wolf finally ended his mini losing streak. That sent the Wolf Pack into a frenzy. Meanwhile Incredible Badger continues to struggle this season --- Matador of M83 took the fight to Vengeance and beat the rookie to earn Frankfurt the win. The reigning European Conference Champions are rolling this season --- It was time for the Main Event and even though the game outcome was decided the fans were still eagerly anticipating this match. It ended up being pretty much a one-sided affair as Bloodline was sending a message to Encubus and the rest of the WWL it seemed. He used his Cetus Masterlock finisher three times and also put Encubus in the Indian Death Lock a couple times to really do damage to Encubus's legs. Then Bloodline finished him off with the Cetus Masterlock. In the first two weeks of the season Bloodline has beat Star Warrior and Encubus with moves that are either their finisher or similar to them. An almost "whatever you can do I can do better" display of dominance. --- Encubus was in a really bad shape after the match

ESPN Space Breaking News
WWL injury update
Frankfurt Knights have announced that Encubus has a partially torn ACL and is being put on IR. He is expected to miss the rest of the season but make a full recovery in time for the next season. This is a blow to the reigning European Conference Champions who are off to a hot 2-0 start. The plan is to move Matador of M83 back into the Main Event while moving Wolf into the Mid-Card. That is good news for their opponents Opening match wrestlers. Then start Commander Sam in the opening match and see how he does. While Frankfurt will not be looking to bring someone in via trade it is not out of the question.
While this is the biggest injury of the week, and the season for that matter, it is not the only one as many teams are dealing with injured wrestlers. Some are sitting out till they get better while others are playing thru their injuries.

WWL Spring 91
Week 3
Mexico City Fire (1-1) @ New York Titans (0-2)
(O) Comrade Terror (NY) beat Whiplash (MC) with atomic knee drop. Time: 10:11 Fatigue: Whiplash-2 (MC) Dragonmaster (NY) beat Actagon (MC) with Dragon Drop. Time: 2:19 Fatigue: Actagon-2 (ME) Galactic Punisher (NY) beat Chaos (MC) with Galactic Cannon. Time: 5:51 Fatigue: none
Winner: New York 3-0
Injuries: None
NOTES: The home crowd was rocking after the Opening match. Not only did Comrade Terror get his first win since signing with the Titans but he beat their former Opening match guy in Whiplash. It got New York's night off to a good start and they rode that momentum --- Actagon struggled in the Mid-Card and lost quickly. That gave New York its first win this season. They started slow last season then got hot and won the Cup --- Things went from bad to worse for Mexico City when Chaos lost fairly easily and the Fire were shutout --- There was a players only meeting after the game for Mexico City that lasted about 10 minutes. They need to figure things out and right the ship before the season gets away from them
London Red Coats (0-2) @ Barcelona Conquistadors (0-2)
(O) Pulsar Prime (L) beat Pegasus (B) with Whirlwind. Time: 7:20 Fatigue: Pegasus-1 (MC) Battering Ram (B) beat Lance At-Las (L) via DQ. Time: 6:06 Fatigue: Battering Ram-1 (ME) Star Warrior (L) beat Dreadnaught (B) with Cosmic Big Bang. Time: 3:46 Fatigue: Star Warrior-1, Dreadnaught-3
Winner: London 2-1
Injuries: Dreadnaught has a medium injury. He will be slowed for a week or two but good to go.
NOTES: Pulsar Prime said he would be more aggressive in his match this game and he was. It paid off for him too. He used his Solar Strain finisher to soften Pegasus up and quickly finished him with Whirlwind --- Lance At-Las tossed Battering Ram and went too far in the eyes of the ref while brawling on the floor leading to the DQ. It is his first of the season --- Star Warrior was determined to get the win for himself and London. He used a Cosmic Smash that got a two count, then a Cosmic Big Bang for a two followed by a flying elbow off the top rope and yet another two count all leading to a second Cosmic Big Bang and the win --- London won for the first time this season while Barcelona remained winless --- A few "overrated" chants from the fans after Dreadnaught lost again. Barcelona paid a good price to bring him over to them plus when they signed him to a contract. So far, he has given them an 0-3 record in return
Chicago Muscle (1-1) @ Las Vegas Aces (1-1)
(O)Quasar (LV) beat Stalker (C) with High Roller. Time: 2:01 Fatigue: Stalker-1 (MC) Soldier of Fortune (LV) beat Massif (C) with pin after failed sunset flip. Time: 12:51 Fatigue: Massif-3 (ME) Bounty Hunter (C) beat Exo-King (LV) via count out. Time: 1:34 Fatigue: Exo-King-1
Winner: Las Vegas 2-1
Injuries: None
NOTES: Quasar keeps rolling with his High Roller and is quickly becoming a favorite in Las Vegas --- Soldier of Fortune hit The Revenger a pair of times early in the match. While not getting the win then, it set things up for later as Massif was hurting and thus tried a desperate sunset flip that failed --- In the Main Event Bounty Hunter applied Hunter's Claw right away at the start of the match and tossed King out of the ring. King crawled back in at the 8 count as he took his time. Hunter tossed him again but this time he went out and hit a Tombstone piledriver on the floor. He got in the ring and King looked like he decided he had enough as Vegas had the game win in hand so he was counted out
Glasgow Rangers (1-1) @ Rome Empire (1-1)
(O) Vigilante (R) beat Incredible Badger (G) with Rifle Shot. Time: 14:30 Fatigue: Incredible Badger-2, Vigilante-3 (MC) Spike (R) beat Vengeance (G) with Megadestroyer. Time: 15:28 Fatigue: Vengeance-2, Spike-3 (ME) Bloodline (G) beat Raven (R) with Cosmic Big Bang. Time: 10:55 Fatigue: Bloodline-4, Raven-3
Winner: Rome 2-1
Injuries: Vigilante has a medium injury but does not look to be slowed too much. Bloodline has a mild injury and will be fine. Raven has a light injury and is probable for next week.
NOTES: Incredible Badger continues to struggle this season. He hit Burrow Blast three times but none came close to securing a pin --- Vengeance used Torture Grip a pair of times and hit Eye Cleaver but it wasn't enough as Spike finished him with his finisher and Rome had the win --- Raven went for the sweep but he used mostly secondary moves before pin attempts. He hit Broadsword but barely got the two count. Bloodline caught Raven when he came off the top rope and turned it into a backbreaker. He covered and after Raven kicked out Bloodline went to the top and hit a diving headbutt. Again, only a two count. Then a bit later he hit his finisher and avoided the sweep for Glasgow.
Los Angeles Stars (1-1) @ Toronto Juggernauts (2-0)
(O) Dreggs (T) beat Invincible Krakan (LA) with Dreggs Killer Drop. Time: 5:33 Fatigue: Invincible Krakan-2 (MC) Janus (T) beat Bishop Hell (LA) with Gordian Knot. Time: 8:16 Fatigue: Bishop Hell-1, Janus-1 (ME) Thantos (LA) beat Iron Mane (T) with Masterlock. Time: 15:01 Fatigue: Thantos-3, Iron Mane-1
Winner: Toronto 2-1
Injuries: Thantos has a light injury but will be fine.
NOTES: Invincible Krakan's struggles in the Opening match continued here. --- Janus attempted a sunset flip but failed. Bishop Hell covered but only got a two count. Later Janus hit a driving clothesline and covered for two then quickly moved into his submission finisher to gain the victory --- Toronto had the win but wanted the all-important sweep. Iron Mane was coming off an upset win against Chaos last week. Could he gain an upset win against the best in WWL two weeks in a row? He was dealing with an injury but so was Thantos. He gave it a good go and came close after countering Thantos's deathjump. But later Thanos hit a Cobra Clutch Suplex right before the Masterlock and win --- Thantos was not in the mood to celebrate as his team lost again. He did not come to LA to not win. He came to go to and win the WWL Cup
Highlight Game of the Week.
Frankfurt Knights (2-0) @ Paris Legion (2-0)
(O) Skinhead (P) beat Commander Sam (F) via DQ. Time: 1:35 Fatigue: none (MC) Massacre (P) beat Wolf (F) via DQ. Time: 4:48 Fatigue: Wolf-1 (ME) Mayhem (P) beat Matador of M83 (F) with Cobra Clutch Suplex. Time: 17:31 Fatigue: Matador-2, Mayhem-3
Winner: Paris 3-0
Injuries: None
NOTES: A matchup of two undefeated teams was the Highlight Game of the Week. However, Frankfurt lost Encubus for the season. How would they respond? On the other side, Justice sat out again for Paris --- Commander Sam stepped into the Opening match role. He countered a move from Skinhead and tossed him into the ropes. Both men clotheslined the other. Skinhead recovered first and tossed Sam out onto the floor. He went out and both men were brawling wildly. Sam went to clothesline Skinhead, who ducked, and hit the ref resulting in the DQ. It of course was his first of the season --- Massacre used face wrecker on Wolf and tried a cover. Then he took the action to the floor. The ref was there telling them to get back in when Wolf, upset over the face wrecker, applied his Savage Face Claw. The ref counted to five but Wolf did not release the hold forcing the ref to disqualify him. Wolf was upset after he realized what happened. It is his first DQ of the season --- Just like that, in two short matches Paris had the win and sat on top of the European Conference. They wanted the sweet and that is what they got. --- Matador of M83 almost beat Mayhem with Bullwhip but Mayhem kicked out at last moment. Then he put Matador away much later after a Cobra Clutch Suplex --- The home crowd was partying after not only winning but getting the shutout

Todd C WTIC Yea that is one thing I am enjoying about doing this like a real sport. You see some interesting matchups. Of course, you still get classics like say Wolf vs a Gladiator. So was I and always thought it was good in general but now and then a heel vs heel or face vs face makes sense as they try and work toward a title shot. Especially heel vs heel as, well, they are heels and just care about themselves. Thanks, I plan on it. Plus, there will be league expansion down the line.
