Dynamo Pro is the follow-up to World Powerhouse Wrestling and will share continuity while WPW continues on a limited basis for the time being.
DPW #1: The Zoo on TruTV
Welcome to the hottest new wrestling promotion in the world today, welcome to Dynamo Pro Wrestling coming to you live from the Enterprise Center in the home of Dynamo Pro St. Louis, MO. “Animals” by Nickelback rings throughout the arena as the opening theme song to our weekly television program here on TruTV entitled “The Zoo.”
In-Ring Segment: An Olympic ovation greets the legendary Kurt Angle as his theme song blasts through the Enterprise Center. Everyone is on their feet to welcome the former World Champion and gold medalist to the ring. Kurt Angle takes a microphone and says, “Welcome to Dynamo Pro!” Huge pop from the crowd. “Welcome to The Zoo!” Angle says, “There’s no better place to witness such a variety of exotic animals in one place, than at The Zoo! And there’s no better channel to bring it to you than TruTV. It’s true, it’s true, it’s TruTV,” Angle obviously shills for the network. Angle announces that in 4 weeks on pay-per-view Dynamo Pro ON THE LOOSE will feature the King of The Zoo Tournament to determine the inaugural Dynamo Pro Champion. The eight men who will compete in the tournament will be determined over the next 3 weeks at The Zoo. “Until then, we have a great night of action scheduled, without much further ado, The Zoo is opened!”
Pre-Match: Our opening match this evening pits a young, up-and-coming superstar against a former ROH champion, the eccentric Dalton Castle. Ricky Starks has recently been teaming up with Val Venis, presenting themselves as The Stroke Daddies of World Powerhouse Wrestling and causing a lot of grief for the reigning WPW World Champion Macho Man Randy Savage. Savage recently commited a “radical act of sodomy” on Venis leaving The Big Valbowski with an even bigger hospital bill. Ricky Starks has to step up his game and prove that he’s not just a pornographer’s assistant. Dalton Castle certainly has the experience advantage over Starks, but will that be enough? Starks makes his entrance, posing on the ramp, posing in the ring, posing on the turnbuckle. Did I mention he poses? Dalton Castle makes his flamboyant entrance being accompanied to the ring by The Boys. Starks is hurling insults at Castle as he disrobes.
Dalton Castle goes for a corner running knee but Ricky Starks dodges out of the way and follows up with an implant DDT and goes for a quick pin but the former ROH Champion kicks out. Starks hits his Famous Amos and hooks Dalton Castle into a grueling sleeperhold, holding on tight. Starks lets go and shows off with a little dancing, a pose, and slaps Dalton Castle in the face. Castle goes for another corner running knee but the wily Starks evades him again, Starks his a suicide dive and another implant DDT. Starks applies the sleeper hold again on Castle, Castle is fading but slowly, slowly making progress to the ropes. He barely reaches his pinky to the rope to break the hold. Starks pulls him back to the middle of the ring and keeps driving in that sleeper hold, determined to put Castle out. Castle barely frees himself as Starks shifts into a crossface and now, in the middle of the ring, having exhausted all of his energy, Dalton Castle submits to the sleeper. Ding ding ding.
Post-Match: Absolute Ricky Starks wins our opening contest this evening, standing high on the corner turnbuckle playing air guitar and posing. Dalton Castle’s Boys seem to be enamored by Ricky Starks’ toned physique, they are standing there, mouths agape, while Dalton Castle regains consciousness behind them and rises to his feet. Castle starts slapping and reprimanding The Boys and demanding that they tend to his injuries. Ricky Starks is off a fine start on his own.
Backstage Promo: Maxwell Jacob Freidman is addressing the camera. MJF says, “I’ve seen wrestling companies come and go, but there's one thing that stays the same, and that’s M-J-F. I’m ready to start fresh here in Dynamo Pro, but I’m not coming alone. That’s right, I got a friend to come with me. A friend with benefits, should I say? Together, we’re going to the top.” Effy enters the frame and shakes hands with MJF. MJEffy is still alive and well and now coming to Dynamo Pro!
Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish have quite the task of taking out the large and imposing duo of Psycho and Killer, The Texas Hangmen. Kyle opens things up with an open hand chop to Psycho. Kyle hits a spike DDT but Psycho no-sells it and tags in his partner Killer who uses the opportunity to choke Kyle with a bullrope behind the ref’s back. Killer tosses Kyle into the turnbuckle and a double-clothesline puts both men down, but the more spry O’Reilly gets to his feet first and O’Reilly hits a snap suplex which allows him to make the tag. Fish is now the legal man hitting a backbreaker on Killer. Killer dodges a roundhouse kick and rakes Fish in the eyes before tagging Psycho. Psycho with a boot to Fish’s stomach and stomps his chest. Fish tries to tag O’Reilly but Psycho tosses Fish into the ropes. Psycho gets into position for a back body drop but Fish catches him with a wicked piledriver. Fish climbs to the top and hits Psycho with a flying clothesline from the top rope. A falcon arrow puts Psycho down who tries to tag but cannot. Fish is on a roll (Yum). Fish hits a back suplex, Psycho again tries to tag, unsuccessful. A roundhouse kick and another snap suplex followed by Sleeps With the Fishes on Psycho. Fish hits a slingshot senton. Fish tags O’Reilly back in. O’Reilly hits a flying knee right to Psycho’s nose, he may have broken it. Kyle climbs to the top and hits Psycho with a flying clothesline. Kyle O’Reilly hooks in his ARMAGEDDON arm-lock which prompts the partners to spring into action. Both Bobby Fish and Killer enter and a wild brawl erupts. All four men are brawling and the referee cannot regain control of the situation. Nobody is listening to him, what is this, AEW? The ref disqualifies both teams as the melee continues. Ding ding ding.
Post-Match: The brawl continues until suddenly Hangman Adam Page’s theme music plays and Adam Page himself enters through the curtain and makes his way down to the ring, presumably to assist his buddies ReDragon. Page hits the ring, climbs on the apron and signals for the Buckshot Lariat. He flips over the ropes but then changes direction hitting Bobby Fish with the brutal maneuver. Kyle O’Reilly stares in disbelief as The Texas Hangmen attack him from behind. Adam Page seems to be calling the shots as Psycho & Killer string up ReDragon in their nooses and toss their bodies over the top rope, the men squirming and twisting trying to release the pressure on their neck before Dynamo Pro referees and officials can stop the attack. Ding ding ding ding. It would appear that “Hangman” Adam Page has some loyal, and very savage, disciples in The Texas Hangmen. Adam Page surely has his sights set on the top prize in Dynamo Pro and hopefully he can explain to his friends why he has done what he has done. The Hangmen have sent a message.
In-Ring Promo: Eddie Kingston’s theme plays and he is greeted warmly by the Dynamo Pro fans. “Eddie! Eddie!” chants echo through the arena. Kingston takes a mic and says, “So this is The Zoo? I can get down with that. There’s already a lot of great names signed to Dynamo Pro, and I know there’s going to be a lot more, but I’m going to make my intentions clear right here and now. I intend to beat whoever it takes, do whatever it takes to get in that Title Tournament and that’s just the beginning. I’m going to claw my way through every round of that tournament until it is evident who the champion is. After ON THE LOOSE on Pay-Per-View, after the King of the Jungle Tournament, or whatever it’s f*ckin called, there will be only one man left standing, one man still with two arms that can even hold up a championship title belt. That man is Eddie Kingston. On my life.”
Pre-Match: “Carry on my Wayward Son” plays to welcome Dan the Dad to Dynamo Pro. Dan the Dad, a staple of the St. Louis wrestling scene, makes his way out to a huge ovation from the crowd. His opponent, a menacing figure from Japan Tokyo Monster Kahagas, has employed the managerial duties of the nefarious Mr. Fuji. This must certainly be a match made in Hell.
Kahagas opens with a European uppercut on Dan the Dad and a series of chops put his down. Multiple brutal elbow strikes and another series of chops puts Dan the Dad on the ropes and Mr. Fuji is telling Kahagas to, “Go for it!” Kahagas clotheslines Dan the Dad over the top rope and his body spills to the floor. Kahagas follows his prey, hitting his SNAP CLOTHESLINE on Dan the Dad outside the ring. Dan the Dad is reeling. He can barely make it to his feet using the guardrail as support. Almost instinctively Dan the Dad rolls under the bottom rope after a count of 9 to stay alive in this contest. Kahagas hits a Tokyo Monster Driver and hooks Dan the Dad in a grueling neck vise. Kahagas tosses Dan the Dad into the ropes and hits a devastating back elbow. Kahagas a second time tosses Dan the Dad into the ropes and hits a brutal back elbow. Kahagas attempts to put Dan the Dad back into the neck vise but Dan the Dad wriggles free, grabbing Kahagas by the arm and whipping him into the ropes. It’s Dan the Dad’s turn to put the Tokyo Monster down with his own devastating back elbow and the crowd goes wild. Dan the Dad hits a belly to back suplex which sends Kahagas to the outside to strategize with Mr. Fuji. Dan the Dad follows and a wild brawl erupts, Dan the Dad tosses Kahagas back into the ring and hooks in the FATHER FIGURE FOUR leglock but Kahagas reaches the rope. Dan the Dad with a rope-elevated flat liner and another belly to back suplex and a full nelson slam puts down Kahagas. Dan the Dad hits a backbreaker but the mysterious Kahagas doesn’t feel it. He stands right back up. Dan the Dad can’t believe it. Kahagas with an elbow smash and chokes Dan the Dad on the ropes. Dan the Dad slips free and hits a hip toss and hooks in the FATHER FIGURE FOUR again. Mr. Fuji jumps up onto the apron, Dan the Dad breaks the hold and the ref ushers Fuji to get back outside. Dan the Dad hits another flat liner. Dan the Dad attempts a chop, Kahagas hits a European uppercut and a brutal kick to Dan the Dad’s face and goes for a quick pin but Dan the Dad isn’t done yet. Kahagas with a Tarantula hold, Dan the Dad reverses, take a sip of his coffee and Dad Jabs Kahagas, who is mightily confused. Dan the Dad goes for a suplex, reversed, Kahagas goes for a neck vise, reversed. Dan the Dad gives Tokyo Monster Kahagas a headlock and noogie, Kahagas has never felt brutality like Dan the Dad’s noogies. A Gone Fisher-man’s suplex connects but Kahagas kicks out of the pin. Dan the Dad climbs to the top and hits Kahagas with a flying clothesline and Dan the Dad hooks in the FATHER FIGURE FOUR again and Kahagas barely makes it to the ropes. Dan the Dad hooks it in again but Mr. Fuji grabs Kahagas and drags him to the ropes. Dan the Dad takes off his belt, spanks Mr. Fuji and spanks Kahagas. Dan the Dad catches Tokyo Monster with another rope-elevated flat liner and that’s all she wrote.
Post-Match: An impressive victory for Dan the Dad over former NWA champion Tokyo Monster Kahagas, but certainly Mr. Fuji won’t rest until his monster is vindicated. Dan the Dad grabs his cup of coffee and shrugs over his bent eyeglass frames.
Backstage Promo: Rohit Raju addresses the camera. Rohit says, “There are a lot of names flying around, rumors flying around about names of people expected to enter the Dynamo Pro Championship Tournament. A lot of names of people that have been there before, people that have been World Champion before, people that have already earned their spot, paid their dues, and got the recognition that they, at one point in history, deserved. But now they are trying to share MY spotlight. Stealing MY spotlight. Not today. Not now. Not in Dynamo Pro. My mother calls me sun cause I shine like one. First Dynamo Pro Champion: Rohit Raju. Believe it.”
Pre-Match: Danny Limelight has proven to be a well-rounded competitor, making his name known for exemplary performances on NJPW Strong and AEW and has signed a contract with Dynamo Pro. He didn’t expect that his first contest here in Dynamo Pro would pit him against such an oddball as WPW Boys Champion Danhausen, making a special appearance here in Dynamo Pro alongside his manager “Living Legend” Larry Zbyszko (whom Danhausen refers to as “Larry Legend”). Danhausen is expected to defend his WPW Boys Title against Matt Riddle at the upcoming WPW supercard THE BEEFENING, exclusively on pay-per-view and FiteTV. Danhausen holds his WPW Boys Title belt up high, though this is notably a non-title match. Danhausen curses the referee before the match even begins.
Danhausen opens with a waistlock and takes Danny Limelight down. Tequila Dancehausen a little early on Danny Limelight who is not entertained by dancing and shenanigans punches Danhausen right in the face stopping the champ’s momentum. Danhausen bites Danny Limelight, hits slingshot german suplex, and a tornado DDT. Larry Zbyszko with Danhausen’s Jar of Teeth in hand hops up onto the ring apron. While the ref is telling him to get down Danhausen pulls a handful of teeth out of his pocket and jams them in Danny Limelight’s mouth. Danhausen with another chokeslam and a top rope lariat put Limelight down yet again. Danhausen attempts to bite Danny Limelight which pisses him off, he doesn’t want to catch whatever makes Danhausen Danhausen. Limelight punches Danhausen again, Limelight with some kick strikes and a tornado kick. Limelight attempts a double stomp but Danhausen evades, Danhausen hits a corner European uppercut and a northern lights suplex. Another series of suplexes keeps Danny Limelight down. Danhausen hits a running knee and goes for the pin but Danny Limelight barely kicks out. Danhausen hits the DEVOTION DDTHAUSEN and Limelight can barely escape the 3 count. Danhausen hits some more suplexes and resorts to biting Danny Limelight some more. Danhausen sends Limelight into the turnbuckle but Limelight reverses it and puts the WPW Boys Champ down on the mat. Limelight hits a New York Minute and goes for the pin. Danhausen kicks out. Limelight with another New York Minute and another pin but Danhausen lifts a shoulder. Limelight with the MORIR SONADO. Larry Zbyszko interjects, Danny Limelight clotheslines Zbyszko off the apron and hooks in yet another MORIR SONADO on the unlucky Danhausen. Limelight hits a corkscrew torillo and a slingblade, hurting the champ. Tornado kick to Danhausen has him reeling. Another tornado kick puts him down. Limelight tosses Danhausen through the ropes to the outside but Danhausen has no choice but to crawl helplessly back in to another MORIR SONADO from Danny Limelight and this specialty rear naked choke puts Danhausen out like a light.
Post-Match: Larry Zbyszko is shaking Danhausen trying to get him to wake up. Danhausen is in pain, he tells “Larry Legend” that this doesn’t feel like he won, he usually feels much better than this. Danhausen tells his manager that he doesn’t want to lose any more. “This sucks.” Danhausen has quite the challenge ahead of him defending the WPW Boys Title against Matt Riddle; hopefully this loss will light the fire of inspiration underneath the champ. What an impressive victory for Dynamo Pro’s Danny Limelight, surely he has championship gold in his future.
Backstage Interview: We expected to hear from “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin this evening but he seems to have been delayed on a trip to Japan. We will update you with details as they become available.
Pre-Match: Our main event this evening is expected to be a master class in professional wrestling showcasing two of the biggest names that Dynamo Pro has signed thus far. Making his way to the ring first is the ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham. Known as The Octopus, Gresham wears an intimidating head piece resembling the sea creature on his way to the ring. His opponent, being accompanied to the ring by Jim Cornette, The Swiss Superman Claudio Castagnoli. What a pairing! Jim Cornette adds Claudio to his Cult of Cornette stable that spans multiple wrestling organizations.
Both men lock up to start this match and Gresham powers Claudio back to the turnbuckle. Claudio lifts a knee and tosses Gresham into the ropes, Gresham puts Claudio down with a big piledriver and a premature OCTOPUS STRETCH on Claudio sends him scrambling for the ropes. Cornette hops up on the apron and swings his tennis racquet towards Gresham which turns the ref’s attention. Behind his back Claudio is tapping out wildly, but Gresham doesn’t realize that the ref wasn’t looking and he releases the hold. Gresham throws Claudio out of the ring who takes the moment to thank his manager and ask for advice before returning to the fold. Gresham hits a bridging german suplex and step up enziguri. Claudio hits a UFO and a piledriver and goes for the pin but Gresham kicks out. Claudio tosses Gresham to the outside and Gresham crawls helplessly back in. Claudio catches Gresham’s legs and takes him up into the CASTAGNOLI SWING. The crowd is counting along with each rotation. Gresham must be getting nauseous by now and Gresham screams to the referee to stop the match. Ding ding ding.
Post-Match: Certainly Jim Cornette intends to enter the Swiss Superman into the King of the Zoo Tournament, Claudio Castignoli has what it takes to be world champion here or anywhere. Cornette celebrates with his charge in the middle of the ring, happy to find a client who isn’t a mental defective or reliant on over-the-counter testosterone supplements. The future looks bright for the Cult of Cornette here in Dynamo Pro.
