YEAR ONE-YEAR END AWARDS
Hello again fellow promoters:
I hope everyone is doing well. Before I move on to Year Two let’s honor those wrestlers who made the greatest impact in Year One. For the Wrestler, Tag Team, Cruiserweight and Woman Of The Year awards I used a very simple mathematical formula. Throughout the year wrestlers received two points for each victory by pinfall or submission and one point for a win by DQ or countout. I also gave out Championship Bonus Points for each successful title defense: The Galactic Heavyweight and Galactic Tag Team Champions each received two bonus points per Defense and all other champions received one point. The wrestler(s) in each category with the most points were the winners. I’ll explain the criteria for the other awards as we go along.
Let’s hand out some hardware!:
1. WOMAN OF THE YEAR:
WINNER: SHANN-RA (26 wins by Pin/Submission, 2 by DQ, 7 CBP’s for a total of 61 points)
Shann-Ra absolutely dominated the women’s division winning five monthly tournaments and holding the championship for ten months across three different reigns. She made seven successful title defenses in total and April & May were the only two months she didn’t leave the monthly Supercard with the gold. She also still has one automatic rematch clause in the bank going into the new year.
FIRST RUNNER-UP: MOTHER SUPERIOR (16 wins by Pin/Submission, 1 by DQ for a total of 33 points)
A pretty solid year for Superior as she won 3 monthly tournaments and made it to the finals 3 other times. She also held the Women’s Championship for one month.
SECOND RUNNER-UP: SHE DEVIL (13 wins by Pin/Submission, 1 by DQ for a total of 27 points)
She Devil did fairly well too winning 1 monthly tournament and making 4 finals appearances. She did manage to beat Shann-Ra for the championship in September but lost it back to her in the rematch.
2. CRUISERWEIGHT OF THE YEAR:
WINNER: U.S. MALE (20 wins by pin/submission, 2 CBP’s, Total: 42 Points
This was the closest race of the year as Male and Ensor both finished tied with 42 points. Male wins the tiebreaker as he had one more victory and a better head-to-head record against Ensor. In total U.S. Male won 1 tournament and made it to the finals 4 other times. He defeated Ensor for the Cruiserweight Championship in September and made two successful title defenses against him in the same night as Ensor had some automatic rematch clauses saved up.
FIRST RUNNER-UP: ENSOR (19 wins by pin/submission, 4 CBP’s , Total: 42 Points)
A great year for Ensor as he won 3 tournaments and made it to the finals 1 other time. He won the championship in April and managed to make four successful title defenses including the tournaments he won while champion. While he came up just a bit short for this award he definitely should be proud of the year he had.
SECOND RUNNER-UP: PANTHER WARRIOR (19 wins by pin/submission, 1 CBP, Total: 39 points)
Also in the mix for the award was Panther Warrior who came up just four points shy of winning the award. He won 2 monthly tournaments and made it to the finals 2 other times. He defeated U.S. Male for the Cruiserweight Championship in October and still holds it going into the new year with an automatic rematch saved up. A very solid year for the cat.
Overall the cruiserweights played by the rules as there was only one two disqualifications across the division the entire year. Speaking of DQ’s let’s move on to the next award.
3. DIRTY DEEDS AWARD (Given to the wrestler that was disqualified the most times. I figured the heels would take pride in something like this so I thought I’d reward them with a plaque for their “accomplishment”)
WINNER: BISHOP HELL 2 ( Disqualified 5 times)
RUNNERS-UP: TURMOIL AND NOSFERA (Each disqualified 4 times)
4. MURDERERS ROW AWARD: (Given to the Galactic Contenders Tournament winner who had the toughest road to victory. This was determined using the average Rahl Rating of their defeated opponents)
WINNER: ENCUBUS- MAY
In May Encubus won the tournament defeating Massif (39), Invincible Krakan (35), Coven Black (31), Shoot (46), Star Warrior (48) and Havoc (48). The average Rahl Rating for those men was 41.17. Definitely not an easy time.
FIRST RUNNER-UP: AETHRAN OVERMASTER-JULY
The Overmaster came in a very close second. In July he went through Thantos 2 (37), Invincible Krakan (35), Paralyze (41), Swarm (40), Star Warrior (48) and Sly Drury (43) to win the tournament for an average Rahl of 40.67. Very impressive.
SECOND RUNNER-UP: STAR WARRIOR-INITIAL TOURNAMENT
Star Warrior had to go through Oracle (24), Turmoil (40) Aethran Overmaster (55), Havoc (48), Tristan (28), and Sly Drury (43) to become my first Galactic Heavyweight Champion. The average Rahl rating of his vanquished opponents was 39.67. This is actually the same average rating of the opponents he beat in his October tournament victory but I gave it to him for the initial tournament win as the rating of his best opponent, The Overmaster at 55 was better than his best opponent in October which was Thantos at 52.
5. GOLDEN TURNBUCKLE AWARD (Given to the wrestler who earned the most combined championship matches between the singles and tag team divisions. Cruiserweight Championship matches are not included in the total)
WINNER: SWARM
In total Swarm earned seven championship matches throughout the year: 3 for the Galactic Heavyweight Title, 1 for the Television Title, and (with Mantis) 1 for the Galactic Tag Team Belts and 2 for the Interplanetary Tag Team Belts (We won’t discuss Swarm’s record in those seven title matches.🤐)
FIRST RUNNER-UP: STAR WARRIOR- 6 Title Shots Earned (3 Galactic Heavyweight, 1 Interplanetary, 2 Television)
SECOND RUNNER-UP: AETHRAN OVERMASTER 5 Title Shots Earned (2 Galactic Heavyweight, 1 Interplanetary Title, 1 Galactic Tag Team and 1 Interplanetary Tag Team)
6. TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR:
WINNERS: RUSH & TURMOIL (42 wins by pin/submission, 2 by DQ, 11 CBP’s, Total: 97 points)
The Gladiators ran completely roughshod over the rest of the tag team division with 2 tournament wins, 2 more appearances in the finals and 5 other trips to the semifinals. They were my first Galactic Tag Team Champions making 2 successful defenses of those belts. They also won the Interplanetary Tag Team titles twice winning them in January, dropping them to The Cerebral Assassins in February before regaining them in April. They still hold them as of this writing and have made seven consecutive defenses. We’ll see if they can continue that momentum into Year Two.
FIRST RUNNERS-UP: ULTIMATE FIGHTERS (20 wins by pin/submission, 8 by DQ, 10 CBP’s, Total: 58 Points)
Shoot and Clinch were an interesting case. They won 3 monthly tournaments, won the Galactic Tag Belts in March and made 4 successful defenses. They won the belts again in October and still hold them going into the new year. When they were good they were GREAT.
However, the rest of the year was a different story. While reviewing my results for the year I was shocked to discover that in the nine other monthly tournaments they never made it to the finals or semifinals and only got past the second round once. This is what prevented them from giving The Gladiators more of a challenge for this award. Still a very impressive year for them though.
SECOND RUNNERS-UP: CEREBRAL ASSASSINS (23 wins by pin/submission, 2 by DQ, 1 CBP, Total: 49 points)
While Hector The Holy Brown Bear & Thantos 2 never won a tournament they did reach the finals once. They earned a shot at the Interplanetary Tag Team Titles as a result and made the most of the opportunity by winning the belts from Rush & Turmoil and making one successful title defense. They also reached tournament semifinals two other times and the quarterfinals five times. While they weren’t great they were consistently good which enabled them to finish in this spot.
7. BLACK HOLE AWARD: (Given to the wrestler with the worst overall record)
WINNER: VANITY (0 wins)
While he was able to pick up three wins in the cruiserweight division Vanity failed to gain a single victory in the main draw. As a result he is the first “winner” of this award. I will be swapping in his 2093 card for Year Two which has slightly better stats so hopefully he won’t be a repeat winner of this award next year.
FIRST RUNNER-UP: BEAST-RIDER (1 win)
Beast-Rider did a bit better than Vanity as he managed to pick up one victory over Plethador in a qualifying round. For the new year I’ll be using his Terak The Beast-Rider card so hopefully we’ll see an improvement out of him.
SECOND RUNNER-UP: SCIMITAR (2 wins)
Scimitar managed to pick up two qualifying round wins over Vanity and Beast-Rider which kept him a step above those two.
8. WRESTLER OF THE YEAR:
WINNER: STAR WARRIOR (41 wins by pin/submission, 5 by DQ, 5 CBP’s, Total: 92 Points)
Star Warrior had an unbelievable year! He was my first Galactic Heavyweight Champion and made one successful title defense against Swarm. Warrior also one two other monthly tournaments, made it to the finals one other time, the semifinals twice and the quarterfinals twice. He also held the Interplanetary Championship (one successful title defense) and the Television Title (three defenses).
Since he got off to a hot start he was always near the top of the rankings which meant he wasn’t facing the best competition in the early tournament rounds. This definitely helped him rack up wins. However, throughout the year he also picked up wins over Aethran Overmaster, Havoc, Sly Drury, Nosfera, Comrade Terror, Thantos, Paralyze and Swarm none of whom are push-overs. He even managed to beat a few of those wrestlers multiple times. Just a great year from start to finish.
FIRST RUNNER-UP: HAVOC (40 wins by pin/submission, 5 CBP’s, Total: 85 points)
Havoc had a darn good year too. He won one monthly tournament, defeated Star Warrior for the Galactic Championship and made two successful title defenses against Warrior and Swarm. Havoc also reached the tournament finals four other times and held the Interplanetary Championship twice. A very solid year for him.
SECOND RUNNER-UP: ENDGAME (39 wins by pin/submission, 1 by DQ, 1 CBP, Total: 80 Points)
While Endgame failed to win a monthly tournament he did have a very consistent year reaching the finals once, semifinals three times and quarterfinals three times. He is my current Interplanetary Champion ,ending Havoc’s second reign, plus he beat Sly Drury for the Television Title and Nosfera for the Heavy Metal Championship. Definitely a year to be proud of.
Congratulations to all the winners and runners-up . With that my first game year is in the books. Thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to read, like and comment on my Fed. This has been a fun and supportive community to join and I look forward to being a part of it for the foreseeable future.
I’m currently in the midst of running my first tournaments for Year Two so look for those in the coming weeks.
Until next time I hope everyone has a good day.
