YEAR TWO-APRIL-WOMEN’S TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT:
Hello again fellow promoters. I hope everyone is doing well. Here we go with the ladies tag tournament. Contessa & Deadliest Of The Species are the current champions and are the number one seed which means that they receive a first round bye. As always teams were ranked based on their cumulative win-loss record for the year.
Let’s get down to action!:
First Round: #15 Strafe & Thrash beat #2 Candy Apple & Cheri Cola #3 Bomb Chelle & Latasha beat #14 Embargo & Rarity #13 Lamiax & Rotunda beat #4 Phantasy & Mother Superior #12 Shann-Ra & Sultana beat #5 Anaxis & La Belleza #6 Goddess Galene & Hot Pink beat #11 Lioness & Kymerra #7 Amazonia & She Devil beat #10 Bobbi Jo Boxer & Taichi #9 Guillotina & Nova beat #8 Raven Stark & Supernova by DQ
Quarterfinals: #15 Strafe & Thrash beat #1 Contessa & Deadliest Of The Species #3 Bomb Chelle & Latasha beat #13 Lamiax & Rotunda #12 Shann-Ra & Sultana beat #6 Goddess Galene & Hot Pink #7 Amazonia & She Devil beat #9 Guillotina & Nova
Semifinals: #15 Strafe & Thrash beat #3 Bomb Chelle & Latasha #12 Shann-Ra & Sultana beat #7 Amazonia & She Devil
Finals: #15 Strafe & Thrash beat #12 Shann-Ra & Sultana
Going into this month’s tournament Strafe & Thrash were the only team without a victory for the year but they made up for it big time here by sweeping through the competition. They defeated the champions during the quarterfinals but we’ll see what happens when the gold is on the line. Contessa & Deadliest also have an automatic rematch clause so the Gladiators will need to defeat them twice if they want to walk out of Night Of Champions with the titles.

YEAR TWO-APRIL-WOMEN’S SINGLES TOURNAMENT:
On to the singles division. La Belleza is the new champion after defeating Shann-Ra at Night Of Champions in March. Thrash and Candy Apple are the top two seeds and received a first round bye.
Let’s get down to action!:
First Round: #3 La Belleza beat #30 Cheri Cola (After the match La Belleza gave an unconscious Cola a god-awful haircut) #4 Phantasy beat #29 Latasha #5 Supernova beat #28 She Devil by DQ #27 Lamiax beat #6 Taichi #26 Rarity beat #7 Raven Stark #8 Strafe beat #25 Kymerra #9 Shann-Ra beat #24 Hot Pink #23 Bomb Chelle beat #10 Embargo #11 Guillotina beat #22 Mother Superior #12 Anaxis beat #21 Sultana by DQ #13 Lioness beat #20 Deadliest Of The Species by DQ #14 Bobbi Jo Boxer beat #19 Amazonia #15 Goddess Galene beat #18 Rotunda #16 Contessa beat #17 Nova
Second Round: #1 Thrash beat #27 Lamiax #2 Candy Apple beat #26 Rarity #23 Bomb Chelle beat #3 La Belleza #4 Phantasy beat #16 Contessa #5 Supernova beat #15 Goddess Galene #8 Strafe beat #14 Bobbi Jo Boxer #9 Shann-Ra beat #13 Lioness #11 Guillotina beat #12 Anaxis
Quarterfinals: #1 Thrash beat #23 Bomb Chelle #2 Candy Apple beat #11 Guillotina #9 Shann-Ra beat #4 Phantasy #5 Supernova beat #8 Strafe
Semifinals: #9 Shann-Ra beat #1 Thrash #5 Supernova beat #2 Candy Apple
Finals: #9 Shann-Ra beat #5 Supernova
Shann-Ra takes it this month and serves notice to La Belleza that she wants the belt back.
While I’m only four months into the new game year I’m already starting to see the parity in this division with the expanded roster: We’ve had four different tournament winners so far and nobody has made it to the finals twice. Obviously that’s going to change as the year goes on.
With that we have all of our new number-one contenders which means it’s time for the monthly Night Of Champions. I have the next two days off from work so I’m hoping to roll it out during that time.
As always a big thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to check out, like and comment on my Fed. Until next time I hope everyone has a good day.😀

The top 2 seeds were cruising along and headed to meeting in the finals. Then both got upset in the finals. Things like that make tournaments fun.

7. GWF Cruiserweight Championship Match: Jack Of Diamonds vs Mantis
8. GWF Women’s Championship Match: La Belleza vs Shann-Ra
9. GWF Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Contessa & Deadliest Of The Species vs Strafe & Thrash
10. Special Attraction Match: The Basilisk vs Bruno Sammartino
11. Special Attraction Match: Yakuza vs Haku
12. Special Attraction Match: Geisha vs Anaxis
Just a reminder that Contessa & Deadliest have an automatic rematch clause so if they lose the belts in the first match they’ll have an opportunity to regain them later in the evening.
Mantis has three title matches tonight so I’ve done my best to space them out throughout the evening so he has some time to catch his breath in between. I’ve also done the same for Encubus and Sly Drury as they also have multiple matches tonight.
1. GWF CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: JACK OF DIAMONDS VS MANTIS
-Well, Mantis didn’t have to worry about getting fatigued early on tonight as Jack made short work of him here. -Mantis won the opening dice roll and on his first move he whipped Jack into the corner. When he charged in after him Jack lifted a knee catching Mantis in the head. -Jack then knocked Mantis down with an atomic skullcrusher before finishing him off with a BLACK DIAMOND.
WINNER AND STILL CHAMPION: JACK OF DIAMONDS (HIS SECOND SUCCESSFUL TITLE DEFENSE)
2. GWF INTERPLANETARY CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: SLY DRURY VS ENCUBUS
-Drury was in control early on. After being on the receiving end of a Super Piledriver Encubus bailed out of the ring. Drury followed him out to continue the fight which Encubus won. -Back in the ring Encubus kept the pressure on going for non-consecutive pin attempts after two Forces of Darkness, two GAMEMASTER DDT’s and a SECOND COMING. -While Drury kicked out of all those above pin attempts they took their toll and after another SECOND COMING Encubus picked up the victory.
WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: ENCUBUS
3. GWF WOMEN’S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: CONTESSA & DEADLIEST OF THE SPECIES VS STRAFE & THRASH
-After some early back and forth between Contessa and Thrash the Gladiator managed to string together some consistent offense. Thrash went for pin attempts after a single arm DDT and a choke slam but Contessa kicked out both times. -Strafe tagged in and kept her team’s momentum going but when she went for a cobra clutch suplex Contessa elbowed her in the head and tagged out. -Deadliest came in and did some damage to Strafe and even managed to lift her up in a Pure Torture Rack. Strafe managed to escape by gouging Deadliest in the eyes. -Eventually Strafe took over control and after two TERMINAL HEIGHTS Deadliest was down for the count.
WINNERS AND NEW CHAMPIONS: STRAFE & THRASH
4. SPECIAL ATTRACTION MATCH: YAKUZA VS HAKU
-A back and forth match the entire way. The big difference was that Haku managed to go for two pin attempts after a countered sunset flip and a jumping piledriver. -After a falling headbutt Haku covered Yakuza for the 1-2-3.
WINNER: HAKU
5. SPECIAL ATTRACTION MATCH: THE BASILISK VS BRUNO SAMMARTINO
-These two waged an all-out war with each other. -The Basilisk used his full arsenal of ‘Add 1’ moves on Bruno to the tune of 6 fatigue tokens but was never able to keep him down for a pin attempt. -Late into the match Basilisk whipped Bruno into the corner but when he charged in after him Bruno moved and the snake crashed into the turnbuckle. -Bruno locked Basilisk in a Boston Crab but the serpent managed to reach the ropes to force a break. -Bruno wasn’t deterred and trapped Basilisk in the ITALIAN BACKBREAKER. While Basilisk escaped by elbowing Bruno in the head The Living Legend promptly clamped the move on again and got a submission.
WINNER: BRUNO SAMMARTINO
6. GWF INTERPLANETARY TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: HORNET’S NEST VS SATANIC CULT
-One hell of a match with the two teams exchanging control while tagging in and out. -Swarm managed to inflict the most damage with two VENOMOUS STINGERS on Thantos and one on Bishop Hell but none of them resulted in the win. -Thantos also managed to trap Mantis in the MASTERLOCK but Mantis was able to power out of it. -Late into the match Bishop Hell unleashed HELLFIRE on Mantis. While he kicked out the damage was done. Hell followed up with a FLYING CROSS and that was all she wrote.
WINNERS AND NEW CHAMPIONS: SATANIC CULT
7. GWF WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: LA BELLEZA VS SHANN-RA
-Another back and forth match. Belleza went for pin attempts after a Snip, Snip, Snip and Shann-Ra tried for covers after a snap snare and a Huntress Claw but neither women could keep the other one down. -Late into the match Shann-Ra knocked the champion down with a Bounty Skullcrusher before finishing her off with the MACHETE.
WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: SHANN-RA
8.GWF GALACTIC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: ULTIMATE FIGHTERS VS TWIN TOWERS OF DESTRUCTION
-The Towers were in control for most of the match but every time The Fighters were in serious trouble they were able to tag out on Defense. -Eventually the champions were able to take over when Clinch knocked Paralyze down with an UPPERCUT K.O. which Paralyze kicked out of. -Shoot tagged in, locked Paralyze into a TAPPED OUT and tapping out is exactly what Paralyze did.
WINNERS AND STILL CHAMPIONS: THE ULTIMATE FIGHTERS (THEIR FIFTH SUCCESSFUL TITLE DEFENSE)
9. SPECIAL ATTRACTION MATCH: GEISHA VS ANAXIS
-A short but exciting match. -Early on Anaxis trapped Geisha in a figure four leglock but couldn’t get her to submit. -Eventually Geisha took over on offense. She climbed up to the top rope to attempt a cross bodyblock but Anaxis saw this coming and dropkicked Geisha in the midsection on the way down. Geisha had the wind knocked out of her as a result and couldn’t kick out of the subsequent pin attempt.
WINNER: ANAXIS
10. RE-MATCH FOR THE GWF WOMEN’S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: STRAFE & THRASH VS CONTESSA & DEADLIEST OF THE SPECIES
-While Contessa & Deadliest had their moments here and there The Aethrans were in control for most of the match. -After gradually wearing their opponents down Strafe polished off Contessa with a GROUND ZERO.
WINNERS AND STILL CHAMPIONS: STRAFE & THRASH (THEIR FIRST SUCCESSFUL TITLE DEFENSE)
11. SCAFFOLD MATCH FOR THE GWF HEAVY METAL CHAMPIONSHIP: SLY DRURY VS HECTOR THE HOLY BROWN BEAR
-The two wrestlers took turns bashing each other into the scaffold railings and putting fatigue on each other. -The turning point comes when Hector knocks Sly down with a clothesline. Drury sneaks between Hector’s legs and Twister Slams him on the platform. This finally weakens Hector enough for Sly to throw him off the scaffold to the ring below.
WINNER AND STILL CHAMPION: SLY DRURY (HIS FIRST SUCCESSFUL TITLE DEFENSE)
12. GWF TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: ZYGON VS MANTIS
-Mantis was fuming mad after losing his first two title matches earlier and he took it out on Zygon here. -After hurting Zygon with an abdominal bite Mantis knocked him down with a Black Death Cometh before applying the PINCER CLAMP for the quick win.
WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: MANTIS
13. GWF GALACTIC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: ENCUBUS VS ENDGAME
-A short but exciting match. -Endgame nearly ended it early with an ULTIMA LEAP but Encubus kicked out at 2.5 -The two men traded the advantage for awhile however Encubus made more of his opportunities by putting three fatigue tokens on his opponent with his various finishing moves. -After a Satanic Skull Smasher Encubus covered Endgame for the three count.
WINNER AND STILL CHAMPION: ENCUBUS (HIS SECOND SUCCESSFUL TITLE DEFENSE)
A few quick thoughts from me:
1. Since Rush & Turmoil’s eight month reign ended a few months ago the Interplanetary Tag Team Championship has been a hot potato. We’ll see if Satanic Cult can bring back some stability to the belts.
2. Encubus joins Aethran Overmaster as the only wrestlers to hold both the Galactic and Interplanetary belts at the same time. We’ll see how long he can remain a dual champion.
3. I’ve been having a blast these past few months matching Bruno Sammartino up against some of the legendary COTG characters. So far Bruno is 3-0 but Basilisk gave him his toughest challenge so far. I’ll likely keep it up for a while; there’s still lots of classic GWF guys for Bruno to face.
As always a big thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to read, like and comment on my Fed. May tournament results coming soon; I just finished rolling out my monthly tag team event before this post. Until next time I hope everyone has a good day.😀
