Rise up and take the power back
It's time the fat cats had a heart attack
You know that their time's coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend
So come on!”Retrosexual” Anthony Greene vs. “The Spanish God” Sammy Guevara * Guevara opened the match with a stinging slap across the face that left Greene stunned.
* Guevara continued his assault, culminating with a piledriver, but Greene rolled out to the floor before the Spanish God could capitalize.
* Guevara followed Greene to the floor but ate a thrown chair to the face which turned things around.
* Greene fought back with a Shining Wizard and a jawbreaker, but Guevara managed to superkick him in the back of the head to regain the advantage.
* The Retrosexual managed to avoid another piledriver and shake off the effects of a Spanish Fly…
* …but a curb stomp put him away and gave Guevara the win.
WINNER: “The Spanish God” Sammy Guevara via pinfall (12:16) ½
Jake Atlas vs. Jonah Rock * Rock came out of the gates strong and manhandled Atlas, nearly earning a pinfall after squishing him with a Samoan drop.
* Atlas managed to reverse a whip into the turnbuckle, leap to the second rope, and drive ten fists into Rock’s head.
* A Shining Wizard put Rock on his back for a two-count, then an
LGB-DDT put him away.
WINNER: Jake Atlas via pinfall (4:39) *
The Rip City Shooters vs. Reno Scum * Joshua Bishop and Adam Thornstowe locked up to start the match, and the crowd rained boos down upon both men.
* In fact, the crowd was hostile towards both teams and cheered when any of the competitors was hit with a big move.
* Neither Thornstowe nor Bishop was able to sustain a lasting advantage until Bishop hit a Black Hole Slam as Thornstowe came off the ropes.
* Wes Barkley tagged in, but so did Luster the Legend, and once again, neither man could stay on top for very long.
* Thornstowe came in to try his luck against Barkley, but he was immediately swept to the mat and locked in a figure four.
* Another exchange was made by both teams, and Bishop and Luster began throwing heavy lumber, culminating in a power bomb on Bishop that earned a two-count.
* With Bishop weakened, Reno Scum turned up the heat and kept him on the mat with quick tags.
* Barkley came in to break up the
LEGEND SHIFTER, but Luster immediately tagged out to his partner.
* Thornstowe climbed to the top rope and hit a
FROG SPLASH…
* …and Barkley’s save was cut off by Luster, giving Reno Scum the duke.
WINNERS: Reno Scum via pinfall (9:45) *½
In-Ring Interview: IPW Heavyweight Champion “The Miracle” Jay White * Footage was shown of Jay White pinning Matt Cardona in a Triple Threat Match to capture the IPW Heavyweight Title.
* The champion came out to a thunderous ovation, meeting
Chad Olson in the center of the ring and holding the title belt in the air with one hand.
* Olson, of course, congratulated White and asked him how he felt about facing current number-one contender The Big Picture.
* White said that he looked forward to the challenge…but more importantly, to defeating the challenger to retain his title.
* The Big Picture took great exception to this and came charging out to the ring, taking White down with a big spear.
* Both men exchanged blows, with neither gaining an advantage…
* …and then the locker room cleared, and the two men were pulled apart.
* The last man to the ring was matchmaker David Marquez.
* Marquez said that—given the tempers involved—he didn’t think waiting a month would be prudent…
* …so he booked their title match for the main event tonight!
Exhibition Match: Andrew Palace vs. “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela * Janela came out holding a sign reading “Stolen Gimmick Victim” owing to Palace’s recent portrayal of a partying “bad boy.”
* Palace shot in for a side headlock but was immediately fired into the ropes and taken down with a cross body block.
* When Palace rolled out of the ring, Janela followed and hit a German suplex on the floor that made a “splat” sound.
* Back in the ring, Janela clamped on his
CROSSFACE, though Palace refused to submit and eventually reached the ropes.
* Palace did not fare so well against the
MOONSAULT DOUBLE STOMP, however, and wound up on his back for three.
WINNER: Joey Janela via pinfall (3:38) *½
“Anything Goes” Match: The Wild Cards vs. The Legend Killers (with Howdy Price) * Thom Latimer and Matty Star renewed their rivalry to start this match.
* Latimer took Star to the mat immediately and rode him all the way to the Wild Cards’ corner, where Royce Isaacs could tag in.
* Aggressive double-teaming soon had Star in big trouble and led to a pair of near pinfalls in quick succession.
* Star managed to tag out to his partner Sparrow, who fared little better.
* Action spilled out of the ring and Latimer planted Sparrow with a piledriver on the floor!
* A distraction by Howdy Price slowed down the action and allowed the Legend Killers to turn the tide.
* Star was able to get Isaacs into deep trouble after an assisted suicide dive…
* …but he let up on his opponent and pointed to Latimer, allowing the Wild Cards to make an exchange.
* This strategy backfired badly, as a rested Latimer wiped the ring with Star until he and Isaacs could hit their
FULLY WILD…
* …but Sparrow dove into the ring to break up the pinfall.
* Sparrow was still leaving the ring when Isaacs nailed Star with a running clothesline…
* …and Sparrow tripped himself up trying to make another save, leaving his partner easy prey for the three-count.
WINNERS: The Wild Cards via pinfall (14:00) **½
In-Ring Interview: AJ Smooth * At Smooth’s insistence, footage of Anthony Greene’s loss earlier in the evening was shown.
* Smooth proceeded to run down his feuding enemy, laughing at his “pathetic performance” against Sammy Guevara.
* Smooth then sang Guevara’s praises, claiming that the Spanish God would easily “crush James Jeffries” the next time they met.
* Just like Beetlejuice, saying Jeffries’ name brought him out to the ring, and he got nose to nose with Smooth.
* Bitter words were exchanged…
* …but before the two competitors came to blows, David Marquez brought a referee out and ordered a match to begin.
James Jeffries vs. AJ Smooth * Jeffries ducked a clothesline right at the opening bell and delivered a deadly fingernail rake to Smooth’s back.
* With Smooth seemingly distracted, Jeffries charged in but ran into that clothesline he avoided moments before.
* Smooth worked his opponent over with a pair of cradle suplexes, then whipped Jeffries into the corner…
* …but Jeffries vaulted to the top rope and sprang off with a flying body press for two.
* Jeffries lit his opponent up with forearms and arm drags of various nationalities.
* Smooth got the better of a poorly conceived shoulder tackle by Jeffries and took over on offense.
* Jeffries absorbed a great deal of punishment before Smooth tossed him out of the ring…
* …and Jeffries barely made it back into the ring to beat the referee’s count.
* As Jeffries came in through the ropes, Smooth caught him with a
KYFO and picked up the win.
WINNER: AJ Smooth via pinfall (13:45) **½
IPW Heavyweight Championship Match: “The Miracle” Jay White © vs. The Big Picture * At the opening bell, White charged in with a shoulder tackle but bounced off his much larger opponent.
* The Big Picture took full advantage of his advantage, hitting a big boot, a Black Hole Slam, and a running senton in quick succession.
* As the challenger moved in for the kill, White managed to hit a Flatliner out of nowhere.
* His lights dimmed, the Big Picture rolled out to the floor, followed closely by the champion.
* White approached his opponent, but the challenger grabbed him around the neck in a savage choke.
* The referee broke his count to come out to the floor to break up the illegal hold.
* The challenger appeared to comply, breaking the choke, only to immediately apply it again.
* This occurred several times, with White barely able to catch a breath before having his wind choked off again.
* As his face turned red, White—in desperation—lashed out with a foot, catching the challenger in the midsection.
* The Big Picture, however, dropped to the floor and held his groin, feigning an injury after the kick.
* The referee (who was focused on the Big Picture and did not see the perfectly legal kick) spun around and confronted White.
* Although the champion protested his innocence, the Big Picture’s Oscar-worthy performance swayed the referee, who called for the bell.
WINNER: The Big Picture via disqualification (2:34) *
Post-Match Drama * As soon as the bell sounded, the Big Picture climbed to his feet and attacked White (who was still arguing with the official) from behind.
* The challenger grabbed White by the hair and the trunks and drove him shoulder-first into the ring post.
* White went down hard, and the Big Picture celebrated as medical personnel came out to check on the champion.
