I just heard that from a friend and itβs hard to believe. The impact that a team like The Briscoes had on me when I got into independent wrestling was so huge. One of my favorite memories with a pair of my closest friends is being there when Jay beat Kevin Steen for the ROH World Title in NYC on Wrestlemania weekend.
RIP.

Man this news is heartbreaking. Aside from the incredible in-ring stuff, Jay really was the sweetest guy. Super humble, down to earth, friendly, and just a cool ass dude. HUGE loss for not just the wrestling world, but the world in general. My thoughts are with Mark and the rest of his family. What a terrible day π’

I saw him live 8 times and met him twice, you are so correct - he was a super down to earth nice guy. He was far from him promo and TV persona; he will be missed.

Being a fan of the Briscoes for 20 yrs now, though I never met the man, I feel like Iβve lost a friend. This one hits hard.

Very sad news to hear. Always seemed like a good guy. Well respected and a heckuva good wrestler.

I was shocked to hear about the passing of Jay Briscoe today.
Jay Briscoe was actually one of the first signings I made for the game (it was before the ROH show at Wrestlecon in early 2010 and I was at that meet and greet with Grant and he signed Mark Briscoe) and I later got to talk to Jay Briscoe a few times at various ROH and PWG shows throughout the years.
I agree with the posts here describing Jay Briscoe as really nice and down to earth, I had a similar impression with my brief interactions with him.
I remember the Friday of Mania Weekend 2015 when me and Cman went to an EVOLVE show at the San Jose fairgrounds and then drove north to Redwood City to go to ROH's Supercard of Honor that night. By the time we got there, the preshow meet and greet was ending with only a few wrestlers left including Jay Briscoe and they were also packing up and getting ready to leave. I asked the meet and greet staff if I could buy an autograpgh ticket because I wanted to get my Jay Briscoe singles card autographed. The ROH staff told me no because the meet and greet had ended but they said I could go over and talk to Jay. Jay had packed up and was on his way out when I got to him and I explained that I attempted but was unable to buy an autograph ticket since they stopped selling meet and greet tickets but I offered to just pay him personally if he would not mind signing my card. Jay actually said he would sign the card for free and I am looking at it now as I type up this post.
RIP Jay Briscoe. Jay Briscoe will always be competing (both in singles competition and in tag team competition with Mark Briscoe) in my Indy feds.
