The origins reveal has to do with Titan Power. I have a feeling it might really shake up things in the GWF and put a whole new spin on what we knew about Lord Nexus and the Titan teams thru the years. I could see that because the first Origins started with Saber and the history between CTA-102 and Titan. |

8 drawings by Darryl are finished and I have sent my instructions for the 9th. There will still be one after that, the trickiest one. I usually leave the "challenging" ones for last where I know some trial and error may be necessary to develop the character.
This process can take a while, I'm a stickler for little things. Even the length of sideburns. More on that later...

Story concepts are still in the evolution stage even at this point as sometimes the card art dictates a different kind of emphasis for the character. Not only that but new thoughts emerge throughout the process and I try to be open to them knowing that must be balanced with meeting deadlines. That's why I like to start early so there is time.
Worked on card backs today. Always like to strike a balance between wrestlers with something unique or new mechanics on their card with traditional designs. The card stats help as much as the drawing for establishing the character, and of course the bio that is written. All three need to come together.
One bonus item so far, a GWF and Filsinger Games first! Working on designing that also.

Art for COTG means so much so I like how much you want it just right. A mix of mechanics and traditional designs is great. Another game I play makes sure there's always at least one that uses traditional stuff so it's great.

I have written stats for 9 playing cards with one to go and I'm waiting on the card art because (as I said in my last post) I want to see how the character looks before I write the card. This is a character that could potentially change a lot from first concept to finish, but we'll see. I sent Darryl a detailed description and we have talked back and forth about it today. He is sending me some sketches tomorrow. I look forward to talking to game fans about this character and this process at GCON in July.
Busy work: I have inserted the card moves that require an explanation (finishers plus card moves that aren't clear when looking at it but dramatic sounding like Liberation Lance or something like that) into the bio section of the handbook. Plus there's the card mechanics that require an explanation. That's a chore but needs to be done. I love coming up with a new angle on specific game cards that we've never seen before and this set will have a few of those!
Also takes time to decide new moves and new finishers and also tracking down the move descriptions from previous handbooks when updating a character. Coming up with cool names for moves contributes to a wrestler's personality as much as the card art and story.
Fortunately I'm not teaching this semester and I have more free time which allows me to get ahead of my production schedule.
At Filsinger Games we are always moving forward with new creative ideas and enthusiasm for what we do! It's not work, it's pleasure! Hasn't stopped being a pleasure after 50+ game editions and with what I know is coming in 2139 and beyond the excitement just keep building!

Thrilled to see an update from Tom's Brain...excited for the first teases to trickle in.
Hopeful to see some closure/movement with Aethran Overmaster.
Hopeful that Zulfiqar is revealed to be Hector 😋
And I think Titan Power will deliver this set's "big revelation"

Zulfiqar as Hector would be quite interesting. I like the idea of Hector being an immortal creature who will appear and disappear as his mood dictates.

Adding thoughts to this... I would like to see Saber get an upgrade. Also, I think Perfect Specimen is due for some kind of change.
