I was telling people at work I find it ironic that in a country with so many guns we suck at the target shooting sports at the Olympics. I guess that is why we need large magazines, we have bad aim and need a lot of bullets to increase the chance one of them hits the target lol.

I got a copy of the book The Watchers and it was so good I had trouble putting it down and I finished it within just two days. There is a big twist in the final part of the book.
Now I really want to to see the movie that was released this Summer even though based on the reviews at Rotten Tomatoes it looks like this could be another case of a great book being turned into just a so so movie.

I ended up watching The Watchers movie last night online. It is better than the 32% it got on Rotten Tomatoes but not as good as the book. The movie did answer (or at least provided an explanation for) a key question that I do not recall being addressed in the book. The book's sequel gets released in October and if I can not find it at the library then I will order it for sure.

I was planning on going to the drive in tomorrow to see Deadpool but with Debby throwing a hissy fit and sending rain everywhere it looks like tomorrow will be a washout. Turns out that is for the best. Tomorrow the second movie is Planet of the Apes which I have seen. Next week the second movie is Twisters which I am in hurry to see BUT if I am already there having finished seeing Deadpool I will probably wait and catch it. The thing is I might have to go to the drive in on both my days off as the other screen is showing Borderlands and Strangers: Chapter 1. Neither are on a must see list of mine but for $8 to see both on a big screen it might be worth doing.

Because when they come in they're wet & wild and when they leave they take your house and your car. In all seriousness though hopefully Debby doesn't cause too much destruction. Stay safe and I hope you’re able to catch those movies next week.

Beyond that I am inland so coastal flooding is not an issue. It has been raining all day and will tomorrow, maybe even Tuesday. Looks like I will just stay in on my days off. I am fine as the weather did not affect my going to the TNA shows. Crazy thing is where the storm is supposed to hit got hit by a hurricane named Debby 12 years ago. They also got walloped by the one bad hurricane last year. That was a major one. This one will only be a Cat 1 if it does become a hurricane as it looks like it might. For me, it is just like a storm in the Midwest from back in the day. I hope work goes good for you tomorrow with the holiday and all.

yesterday at The Palms, I saw Trap and it was crap.
I think it was a mistake giving away the twist in the trailer and this was a horror movie that lacked any suspense which by definition makes it a complete failure.
some positives IMO: the acting of Josh Harnett and Saleka Shyamala (the daughter of this movie's director M. Night Shyamala.) Earlier this past weekend I also ironically watched The Watchers (which had a billoard in this movie) directed by another daughter (Ishana) of M. Night Shyamala. I think I have been more impressed with the recent work of Saleka and Ishana than the recent work of M. Night Shyamala (which is unfortunate as he was awesome back in the days of The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable.)

Went to the drive in and saw Deadpool and Twisters. Both were very enjoyable. More so Deadpool as I explained in the Deadpool thread, but I liked Twisters more than I thought I would. I forgot to mention in my other post that I liked how they included Stan Lee in this movie. It should set the bar for other MCU movies to keep him involved in one way or another. I like the story in Twisters because both leading men were neither good nor bad. They had aspects of both as most people do and they were written pretty good. Special effects were top notch, and the movie was a bit educational even if a lot went over my head. Then again if someone was just talking to me and saying their lines, I might have got it better. I also saw the trailer for the next Captain America movie, and it looks pretty good. Part superhero action movie, part spy/espionage movie.
I ended up not going to see the Borderlands/Strangers double feature on the other screen as I was feeling wiped out Tuesday. Part of me wishes I had waited to see a movie as this week they have a slightly better double feature. They are showing the new Alien movie after Deadpool and on the other screen it is Twisters first and then Borderlands. If I go this week, it will be just for the second feature which will be weird lol.

Watching MeTV Toons I discovered some interesting things recently.
1) The Flintstones car turns from American to European depending on which way they drive. It seems they always want Fred closer to the screen then Barney or any passenger. If driving from left to right the car is European as Fred is on the right side. If driving right to left it is an American car.
2) Cartoons have editing issues like tv and movies. Woody Woodpecker woke up and he had a pillow that vanished and reappeared.
3) At least one person working on cartoons used a screen name. I forget which toon I was watching but one of the crew had the cute name of "T. Hee" which I found amusing and clever.
4) I saw a Bugs Bunny where Elmer was not a hunter but a nicely dressed bachelor looking for a pet. He stopped at the store and got a slightly different looking and extremely different sounding Bugs. This was before they settled in to the more commonly known look and sound.
5) In another Bugs he looked normal but the character who MIGHT have been Elmer but never named, sounded like Elmer and had the same bald head but was a bit taller and pudgier.

I just got a text from an unknown number that says "guess who I am?". I thought "someone that is getting deleted". Well guess what, I was right.
