I wish Downtown Disney (where I am at currently) still had their movie theater so I could see the new Venom movie today. I will probably see it Sunday night after football (I absolutely need to see it before going to work on Monday or my 10th graders will likely spoil it.)

Before I went to the Canucks game this past Wednesday I caught a matinee of Conclave starring Ralph Fiennes. Fiennes plays the Dean of the College Of Cardinals and must oversee the election of a new Pope after the previous one dies. Along the way he gets caught up in the politics of the procedure along with the secrets of some of the other Cardinals.
Fiennes is getting major Oscar buzz for his performance and while he's solid as always I felt the true standout in the film was Stanley Tucci. Volker Bertelmann's music score is also worthy of awards attention.
Overall it was a decent film. There's a real world development that creeps into their sequestered environment that felt unnecessary and there's a bit of a twist at the end that also felt out of place but neither of those things torpedoes the movie. I give it a grade of a B-

I bought a ticket for a movie next Monday, 11/18, and I have zero clue on what the movie is. All I know is that it is R rated and a new release not out yet. It is part of this Mystery Movie thing Cinemark is doing. It only cost me $5 so not a bit loss if I end up not being interested in the movie. Being it is R rated I am pretty sure it is not a mushy romance. Either horror, raunchy comedy or deep drama is the most likely options.

Since I am off Monday for Veterans Day, I think tomorrow night after football I am going to see The Heretic.

The old theater I enjoy going to is showing Airplane this month but on a day I am working. So, this past Monday I went and watched the prequel, Airport. I mean, you have to go to the Airport before getting on the Airplane. Right? It was a pretty cool movie. Can definitely see how it influenced Airplane, possibly the best comedy ever made.
This coming Monday I will go see the movie that is part of the Secret Film Series. I checked on R rated movies due to come out soon and of the ones I found I am hoping it is Kraven. It is a movie I could enjoy but it is also one I doubt I would pay regular price to go see. Either way I am excited to find out what movie I will be seeing. On Tuesday, weather permitting, I plan on going to the drive-in to see the double feature of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" plus "Scrouged". I have seen each numerous times but have only seen Scrouged on the big screen when it came out. Funny story about that. I was in HS and went with the Spanish Club. My girlfriend was in the club, and I was with her. We went to get popcorn when everyone went into the theater. We went to join them, and the movie had started and did not know where they were sitting. We sat down and soon realized the movie was far into the plot. That is when we realized there were two screens showing it and we were in the wrong one. We went to the other and had missed the very beginning. Ah to be young and dumb. Sure beats being old and dumb. Sigh.

I saw The Heretic and I thought it was really good, especially Hugh Grant's performance. Perhaps a little preposterous at the end, but definitely overall a good horror movie that keeps you in suspense without overly excessive violence.

Perhaps Gladiator II is the secret movie you're going to end up seeing and that theater showing Airplane is foreshadowing it.🤪 Planes, Trains & Automobiles is one of those movies I always have to watch at least a few minutes of if I come across it on TV. It's also quite possibly the only movie where the main character has difficulty hailing a taxi in NYC rush-hour traffic. (Very accurate to real life I've been told.) Your experience watching Scrooged back in high school reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where George encounters the same problem. Enjoy your upcoming movies.😀

I have mentioned this before in other threads but the hotel they stay at in PTA with the great "those arn't pillows" line is in IL and I drove by it on the I-55 numerous times before finding out it was the hotel used after moving out of the state. I found it a cool connection. Oh yea that was a great episode. People going in and out of theaters trying to find each other. Then again pretty much every Seinfeld episode was great. Thank you.

On a less cheery note, the fruit loop can have my Fruit Loops when he pries them from my cold dead hands. Besides, not only are they tasty they can be used to lure out monkeys that are evading capture. That could come in handy. Like when the Apes start their plan on taking over the Planet.
