Lucha News: Night of Champions buyrate, new Guerra de Titanes poster, Dr. Wagner is still a big fat liar, more:
- Night of Champions did a 420,000 buys, once again, that number is international and does (I believe) include the iPPV buys as well. An insanely strong number for a Pay-Per-View that nobody really cared about going in.
- New Guerra de Titanes poster has been released by SuperLuchas and the Mexican press:
From left to right: Dr. Wagner Jr. (LIAR!), Cibernetico, Davey Richards
The show was moved to Arena Mexico from Palicio de los Deportes. Kind of a big deal, but not really at the same time. The PPV price has changed from the last Guerra de Titanes PPV: - Standard Definition PPV: $40 (up from $30) - High Definition PPV: $45 (up from $40) - Internet PPV: $30
The iPPV thing is new, but this is a big leap from two years ago price-wise. They're not doing Money in the Bank this year, and there have been rumblings of an Elimination Chamber at this show. Nothing is concrete yet. It's interesting to note Davey Richards on the poster, because he hasn't signed yet, and the Mexico DF box y lucha commission would throw a huge fit if he didn't actually appear on the show.
- Dr. Wagner Jr. is apparently returning to the company as well. He said that in addition to RevoLUCHA, he's planning to make a return to Lucha Libre International by the end of the year.
- The advertised dark main event for tonight's TV taping at Arena LLUSA is Silver King vs. Chessman for the Mega Heavyweight Championship. Do with that what you will, but it seems like he might be the mystery man in the main event of the first episode taped tonight.
- Huntington Center in Toledo posted this today: "LUCHA LIBRE INTERNATIONAL presents TABLES, LADDERS, and CHAIRS!
On this worldwide Pay-Per-View broadcast, every main event will be a TABLES match, a CHAIRS match, a LADDER match, or the ultimate test of wills - the TABLES, LADDERS, and CHAIRS match!!
Scheduled to appear: El Mesias Mega Heavyweight Champion Silver King Cibernetico Chessman Electroshock La Legion Extranjera of Konnan, Ozz, Vampiro, and El Hijo del Perro Aguayo Team Japan of Jushin Liger, Tanahashi, and Takeshi Morishima Team Dragon's Gate of International Cruiserweight Champion CIMA, and International Campeonatos de Parejas Dragon Kid and Shingo Takagi La Peste Negra of Negro Casas, Felino, and Heavy Metal National Trios Champions Los Psycho Circus of Monster Clown, Murder Clown, and Psycho Clown Reina de Reinas Sara Del Rey Mickie James Co-holder of the Mixed Tag Team Championships Mari Apache Fabi Apache and more!"
Tickets just went on sale. Prices are lower than usual: $150 (includes take home chair), $80, $50, $45, $20, $15, $10. They must not be expecting a great turnout for this show.

Solid stuff, as usual. But I smell something...hmm, could it be a well deserved Fed of the Quarter nod?

Card #822 (TV); Arena LLUSA in Chicago, IL
1.) Mascarita Sagrada & Mini Abismo Negro b. Mini Charly Manson & Mini Chessman [Relevos Increibles] 2.) Delirious & Daizee Haze b. Billy Boy & Daffney 3.) Mistico ©, Rey Misterio Jr, Nicho "el milonario" DQ CIMA ©, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Takeshi Morishima 4.) Zorro & Ozz b. El Mesias & Abismo Negro 5.) Shingo Takagi & Dragon Kid b. Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson [INTERNATIONAL TAG] 6.) Silver King ©, Electroshock, El Hijo del Perro Aguayo NC: Cibernetico ©, Charly Manson, Aerostar
Notes from this taping: - Sagrada got Charly with a VICTORY ROLL. Mascarita issues a challenge for TLC, but Mini Charly walks out. - In the parking lot, Perro Jr. is shown laid out. They were apparently hinting at the guy beating him up being part of the Legion. - Delirious pinned Billy with Shadows Over Hell. Really good match by all accounts. - CIMA fouled Mistico to force the DQ. As he was running away, Misterio and Nicho attacked him, leaving Mistico to eat a BACKDROP from Morishima. - Before the tag match, Zorro says that he took out Perro Jr, because he's a weak link, and a liability to La Legion Extranjera. Ozz pinned Abismo with LA DARKETA in a good, long match. - Shingo beat the Bucks two falls straight, both falls with LOST FALCONRY. Really good match here. - Main event was ruled a no contest when Chessman interfered, with a chair, taking out all the rudos, who turned on Perro early in the match. - After the main event, A five-on-five tables match was announced for the PPV. (Match is listed at the end of the post)
Card #823, "SuperEstrellas de Lucha Libre" (TV); Arena LLUSA in Chicago, IL:
1.) Sara Del Rey ©, Beth Phoenix, Ayako Hamada b. Trish Stratus ©, Mickie James, Mari Apache 2.) Claudio Castagnoli b. El Hijo de Lizmark & Blue Panther 3.) Jack Evans ©, Aerostar, Xtreme Tiger b. Susumu Yokosuka ©, Jushin Liger, Koji Kanemoto 4.) Tyler Black & Chris Hero b. Shingo Takagi & Dragon Kid [#1 contenders, INTERNATIONAL TAG]
- Del Rey pinned Trish with a German Suplex. Del Rey issues an open challenge to any woman in the world to try and take her Womens Championships. - Claudio pinned Lizmark Jr. with the RICOLA BOMB. Another good match. - Evans pinned Kanemoto with the 630 SPLASH, and Aerostar got Liger with a SHOOTING STAR PRESS. - Black pinned Dragon Kid with God's Last Gift. The match for TLC was then announced as a Ladder Match. Given Team DG's history with these kinds of matches, and Hero and Black's history of being reliable in said matches, this could be a Match of the Year Contender.
Card #830, "TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs" (PPV); Huntington Center in Toledo, OH 1.) Shingo Takagi & Dragon Kid vs. Tyler Black & Chris Hero [ladder, INTERNATIONAL TAG] 2.) El Mesias, Cibernetico, Charly Manson, Aerostar, Chessman vs. Konnan, Vampiro, Ozz, Zorro, Silver King [/font]

Lucha News: Company Not Happy With Perrito (again), Konnan says Legion will hold every title this year, TLC update, Releases, more:
- Word within the company is that El Hijo del Perro Aguayo may be let go again. He's had a history of really mucking up his pushes by just being an idiot, to put it politely. This time, he apparently said that he was above working with the Legion to a Mexican reporter, who took it out of context and said that Perro said he was bigger than Lucha Libre. This doesn't sit well with several of the veterans, and Perro's father has tried saving his job to no avail. Report of the release is expected soon.
- In an interview with SuperLuchas, Konnan said by the end of the year, La Legion Extranjera will hold every title in Lucha Libre International. He's not lying, they probably will.
- For those wondering, here is the current lineup for La Legion Extranjera, along with the titles listed for those who hold them: - Konnan - Silver King (Mega Heavyweight Champion) - Electroshock - Ozz - Zorro - Vampiro - Arturo Rivera - CIMA (Cruiserweight Champion) - Dragon Kid (Tag Champion) - Shingo Takagi (Tag Champion) - Susumu Yokosuka - Jushin Liger - Hiroshi Tanahashi - Takeshi Morishima
Mind you, those are just full time members. I'm not counting the random one-off guys.
- LA Park was injured on a recent house show, and likely won't be back until Rey de Reyes.
- Gronda II has been released from his contract. Belief is that it's because he was injured, but from what I've heard, he failed a drug test.
- Blue Demon Jr. was released as well. No reason given.
- Mickie James said to SuperLuchas that she would be retiring after this year with Lucha Libre International. She has other things she's focused on, and she expects she'll have a retirement match against Mari Apache or something to that effect. Yeah, like that'll happen.
- Lucha Libre International has announced that they will announce the teams for Rey del Trios as early as the day of TLC. This could be interesting, because from the list I've seen that was sent to me by people in the company, there are a ton of guys who aren't signed yet in the tournament.
- The Commercial Free shows from Dayton and Arena Mexico are also going to be live episodes of TV. The show in Dayton (right after TLC) marks the company's first Live episode of TV. Local ads are advertising the return of Dr. Wagner Jr. SPOILER ALERT MUCH?

Card #824 (TV); Conseco Fieldhouse in Inidanapolis, IN
1.) Mascarita Sagrada & Octagoncito vs. Mini Charly Manson & Mini Chessman 2.) Gran y Mari Apache vs. Delirious & Mickie James 3.) Aerostar ©, Mistico, Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Jushin Liger ©, CIMA, Hiroshi Tanahashi 4.) Tyler Black & Chris Hero vs. Silver King & Electroshock 5.) El Mesias ©, Cibernetico, Chessman vs. Konnan ©, Vampiro, Zorro 6.) Sara Del Rey vs. Daizee Haze [reina de reinas]
Mini Charly has been at war with pretty much every other mini since the start of the division. Now he's teaming with the guy who's tried taking his belt from him more than anyone else? There's got to be some sort of reason for this.
Segunda looks like it could be good, but it's pretty random. Looking at the main event, I totally get why Delirious and Mickie got paired up in this match. Apaches probably win because they're the Apaches.
Third match will undoubtedly be the best match on the show. It's a strong Mexico vs. Japan match, and the crowd in Indy has always bought into these types of things.
Black and Hero vs. Silver and Electroshock is a big opportunity to elevate Black and Hero. Sure, beating two former (or in Silver's case, the current) World Champions gives them a ton of momentum going into TLC, but long term, it helps get both of them into the main event.
Semifinal is what you expect. Probably a non-finish with a table spot so we get that they're doing a tables match at the PPV.
The main event is interesting, because I can't remember the last time Reina de Reinas was defended on TV, much less in a main event. Del Rey will no doubt retain here, but they have a chance to show that the division as a whole is more than just a PPV opening act.

Card #824 (TV); Conseco Fieldhouse in Inidanapolis, IN
1.) Mascarita Sagrada & Octagoncito DQ Mini Charly Manson & Mini Chessman 2.) Gran y Mari Apache NC Delirious & Mickie James 3.) Jushin Liger ©, CIMA, Hiroshi Tanahashi b. Aerostar ©, Mistico, Rey Misterio Jr. 4.) Tyler Black & Chris Hero b. Silver King & Electroshock 5.) El Mesias ©, Cibernetico, Chessman b. Konnan ©, Vampiro, Zorro 6.) Sara Del Rey DRAW Daizee Haze [reina de reinas]
Notes: - Mini Charly fouled Mascarita in the opener. Came out basically saying he was a full blown rudo, and wanted some respect. Mini Charly hints at another minis four way at TLC. - Segunda was thrown out when Billy Boy and Daffney attacked both tecnico teams. Was a pretty good match, went about 15 minutes. - Announced for TLC: Mini Charly vs. Mascarita Sagrada vs. Mini Chessman vs. Mini Abismo vs. Octagoncito in a chairs match for the Minis Title. - Paco Alonzo says that he will get rid of La Legion Extranjera, because he can't stomach the thought of them ruining another Pay-Per-View event. - Liger pinned Mistico with a LIGER BOMB, and CIMA got Misterio with a MAD SPLASH. A really good match, said to have been the best of the entire night. Liger challenged Mistico mano-a-mano after the match. Mistico was out, couldn't answer. - Black pinned Silver King with a schoolboy after Chessman's theme hit and Silver flipped out. After the match, the Legion tried beating Hero and Black down, but Mesias, Ciber, and Chessman made the save, leading to.. - Mesias pinning Konnan CLEAN with the TKO. A very short match, which was probably for the best, the two teams brawled through the arena after the match. - Announced for TLC: CIMA vs. Mike Quackenbush vs. Nicho vs. Liger vs. Mistico vs. Misterio vs. Cuervo vs. Jack Evans vs. Nick Jackson vs. Matt Jackson in a TLC match for the Cruiserweight Title. Holy crap. - A graphic says the rest of the TLC lineup will be announced this week on the Lucha Libre International website. - Main event went to a 30:00 draw. A really good technical sort of match that the fans were pretty hard into. Daizee almost won, time ran out, and then we cut to.. - Paco Alonzo, who says that the tables match at TLC will be a No Interference Allowed match, with anyone who interferes for either side being fired on the spot, and the match being awarded to the other team.

As always, the card looks good and I am looking forward to more great lucha action.
I know you didn't win fed of the quarter, but this is still a MUST read for me...and a bunch of other people.

Card #831 (Live Commercial Free TV Special); Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton, OH
1.) Dr. Wagner Jr. CO El Mesias 2.) Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson b. CIMA & Susumu Yokosuka, Negro Casas & Heavy Metal, Mike Quackenbush & Ultramantis Black [#1 contenders, INTERNATIONAL TAG] 3.) Sara Del Rey b. Mari Apache [reina de reinas] 4.) LA Park NC Vampiro 5.) Electroshock ©, Ultimo Gladiador, Elegido b. Charly Manson ©, Cibernetico, Chessman [cage] 6.) Tyler Black & Chris Hero b. Ozz & Zorro 7.) Abismo Negro b. Silver King [MEGA HEAVY]
Oh man, where do we start with this show? It's pretty friggin' newsworthy. The show opened with Mesias talking about how he noticed the fans weren't thrilled with his performance, so he walked out on them, not Aerostar. Mesias says that Aerostar is a loser, and he didn't deserve to be fighting for Lucha Libre. Wagner returns, and says that Aerostar is a real luchador, and Mesias is just a pretender. They argue, throw the catchphrases out, and agree to a match that Mesias walked out on immediately. Yay logic!
Paco Alonzo announced The American Wolves vs. Tyler Black and Chris Hero for a future TV taping. Didn't specify when, which I personally find to be a BRILLIANT business move. No, not really. Paco then announces Del Rey vs. Mari Apache for Reina de Reinas later in the show.
Segunda was a gauntlet match that saw the Bucks go the distance. Pretty good match with MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK on CIMA being the end. After the match, CIMA and Yokosuka beat down the Bucks until Chessman and Charly Manson ran in with chairs. You see why this makes no sense.
Del Rey pinned Mari after interference from Billy Boy and Daffney. At this point in the show, I was starting to wonder when they were going to announce a non-tournament match for the Trios PPV, and they did. Daizee Haze challenged Del Rey to a hair vs. title match, and Del Rey accepted.
We're then shown a Legion promo. They promise that by LuchaMania XV, they will hold every title. They say that tonight, Silver King has to defend his, but he won't lose it. They don't mention who he's facing, which I think is a nice gesture.
Park vs. Vampiro was thrown out when the two fought in the entrance way and didn't even get to the ring. The fans were not happy with two finishes like that in one night.
Delirious and Mickie James are shown walking down a hallway, presumably for a match until BOOM RUN IN by Liger and Hamada. Liger says something I couldn't make out, but I did hear "Mixed Tag Titles" somewhere in that. I guess we were about to see Mari Apache pull double duty?
Cage match wasn't an escape match, and wasn't very good. Cibernetico took the losing fall to the ELECTROLOCK. After the match, Electroshock promised that La Wagnermaniacos would win the Trios tournament. Wagner is back, why isn't he objecting to this blatant use of his name?
Black and Hero vs. Ozz and Zorro was easily the best match on the show. Hero won with the Hangman's Elbow to Zorro. After the match, the Bucks made their way out, shook the champ's hands, and the match was announced for "a future event". I LOVE how vague they're being!
Silver King enters for the main event and demands to know his opponent. Abismo Negro's theme hit, and they proceeded to wrestle a 45 minute match that was good, but way too long given the two involved. Abismo won with the MARTINETE ESPECIAL, and the tecnicos spilled out to the ring to celebrate until the show went off the air.
Not their best TV show ever, but I'm hoping the one from Arena Mexico later this year is better.
