Heartland Championship Wrestling: Patriot Championship Wrestling

EpicDave: Hey, fans! Welcome to Philadelphia for tonight's edition of Heartland Championship Wrestling! It's great to be here in the Cradle of Liberty, and it's gonna be a great night of action featuring the superstars of Patriot Championship Wrestling. We have a full night of action in store for you tonight- and a highly anticipated Main Event. It's a return match for the Patriot Heavyweight Championship as BUDDY ROGERS defends his newly won title against BOB BACKLUND. And, tonight we return to the Epic Sports Broadcasting Network, where our feature matches will be streamed. So relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show!



VADER (w/PERCY PRINGLE III) defeated FIT FINLAY* by disqualification

It was a wild battle between Vader and Finlay, with both men bringing a spirited intensity. The referee struggled to maintain control as the match went to the arena floor. Finlay was determined to get his shots in, and shoved the referee aside in his aggression to earn the DQ.

After the match, Vader seemed disappointed in the decision. Vader and Percy convened, and offered Finlay a No Disqualification Match! Vader added the stipulation that if Finlay could prevail, Finlay would receive a contract for the services of Percy Pringle.


BRYAN DANIELSON*** pinned KILLER KOWALSKI*** after a Dragon Suplex

Once again, interference from EDDIE GILBERT provided no help to Kowalski. Gilbert gave his ally a brief advantage, but Kowalski was unable to capitalize when Danielson kicked out after a Jumping Knee Drop. Danielson recovered and took the big man down with a Dragon Suplex for the win.

EpicDave: Things between Gilbert and Kowalski are still not going well. These guys were already kicked out of JAMES J. DILLON ENTERPRISES, but their situation has not improved. We'll see what happens later tonight when Gilbert hits the ring against RICKY 'THE DRAGON' STEAMBOAT.

HARLEY RACE* pinned RICK RUDE** with a pair of Piledrivers


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
EDDIE GILBERT (w/ KILLER KOWALSKI) pinned RICKY 'THE DRAGON' STEAMBOAT** with the Hot Shot

Unlike the previous match this evening, the chemistry between Gilbert and Kowalski paid dividends. Kowalski distracted Steamboat at the onset of the match, allowing Gilbert to drill Steamboat with a series of brutal strikes. Steamboat was stunned, and Gilbert immediately dropped Steamboat with a Hot Shot to score the pin.

After the pin, Kowalski entered the ring to attack Steamboat, but Steamboat was able to roll out of the ring and escape to safety.

EpicDave: The ongoing saga of Kowalski and Gilbert continues. They have been very inconsistent in their results, and at times it seems that their partnership has been on the decline. But I must admit- a win over Ricky Steamboat is no small feat, even in a situation of two against one.


PATRIOT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
THE FABULOUS KANGAROOS (AL COSTELLO & ROY HEFFERNAN) defeated THE BRITISH BULLDOGS (DAVEY BOY SMITH** & DYNAMITE KID) when Heffernan pinned Davey Boy with the Boomerang

After a long, back-and-forth battle, the teamwork of the Kangaroos prevailed as they put down Davey Boy with the Boomerang.

EpicDave: So- the Kangaroos get the win and take over the #1 Contender position in the tag team division. Their title shot will have to wait- as the current champions, THE FANTASTICS, are in line for a #1 Contender's Match for the NWA World Tag Team Championship! We'll see that match next week when Tommy and Bobby face THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS for a shot at the World Titles. What a match that will be! And now, fans- it's time for your Main Event of the evening!


MAIN EVENT: PATRIOT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
BUDDY ROGERS*** (c) defeated BOB BACKLUND** by submission with the Figure-Four Grapevine

For nearly 20 minutes, the two technical wizards went back and forth in a match that featured numerous reversals and several near-falls by both men. Rogers weakened Backlund with a number of piledrivers, while Backlund responded with frequent use of the Boston Crab in an effort to slow down the champion. Action spilled out of the ring, where Backlund dropkicked Rogers over the steel security railing! Rogers had to hustle to beat the ten count back to the ring, but Backlund was unable to put Rogers away with another Boston Crab. Backlund whipped Rogers to the turnbuckle, but Rogers exploded with a running high knee smash that put Backlund down to the canvas. Before Backlund could recover, Rogers locked on the Figure-Four Grapevine, and Backlund was forced to give it up!

BUDDY ROGERS RETAINS THE PATRIOT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

EpicDave: Congratulations to BUDDY ROGERS! It wasn't easy- but Rogers found a way to defeat a tremendous challenge from Backlund to retain the Patriot Heavyweight Championship! He didn't make any friends along the way- but Rogers manuevered his way into the title picture, won the belt, and managed to put aside the former champion here tonight in Philadelphia, so give credit where credit is due. All right, fans- we're done here. Thanks for checking us out tonight! Heartland will be back on Wednesday night with an exciting night of action from Heartland Ladies' Wrestling. The show opens with the tune, "Poison" by Alice Cooper playing overhead. VELVET SKY emerges through the curtain. Velvet wears a red dress, drawing cheers from the multitude of Buckeye fans in attendance. The crowd erupts into a spontaneous O-H-I-O chant as Velvet makes her way down the aisle, high-fiving the fans along the ramp.

Velvet: Heartland- WHAT IS UP?!?!? I am PSYCHED to be here! Go Bucks! It is awesome to be here in the Buckeye State with the badass babes of Heartland Ladies' Wrestling. And nobody is more badass than KELLY KLEIN, who is here tonight to defend her Mistress of Mayhem Championship against MADDISON MILES. So let's-

Without warning, Velvet is interrupted by the tune "The Outsider" by A Perfect Circle playing overhead. IVELISSE emerges from backstage and storms down to the ring, accompanied by JENNACIDE.

Ivelisse: Did you say "badass"? Sister, there's nobody more badass than Jennacide and me! Don't you come out here and talk about badass unless you wanna say MY name!

Velvet: Oh, get over yourself. The only thing you're good at is sneak attacks. You lost to NICOLE MATTHEWS already, so you aren't even relevant.

Ivelisse and Jennacide start to circle around Velvet, but they are interrupted by the tune "McMilitant" by Jim Johnston. TEDDY LONG strides down to the ring, microphone in hand.

Teddy: Now hold on there, playa- y'all ain't gonna jump on our broadcaster again. Ivelisse- are you sore about losing against Nicole Matthews? Ain't that a shame. So I'll tell you what I'm gonna do here tonight. We are gonna schedule a Tag Team Match here in Columbus, and it's gonna be IVELISSE & JENNACIDE against NICOLE MATTHEWS & PORTIA PEREZ. So you two better get to steppin' and get ready for your match later tonight!

Velvet: Teddy- you rock! I can't wait to see Ivelisse and Jennacide get their tails kicked by the Canadian Ninjas here tonight. Now let's get to wrestling!

Velvet: Great stuff! We now have the #1 Contenders' Matches set for both championships. It will be LUFISTO vs. HOLIDEAD for the singles position, and THE PINK LADIES vs. PARADISE LOST for a shot at the tag belts. And NOW- we get to see the HUGE tag team match that TEDDY LONG booked for us earlier tonight!


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
IVELISSE & JENNACIDE* defeated THE CANADIAN NINJAS (NICOLE MATTHEWS******* & PORTIA PEREZ**) when Ivelisse pinned Portia with the Desert Eagle

The Grudge Match was a horrible beating for Nicole, the reigning Ladies' Champion. Nicole was isolated by Ivelisse and Jennacide and subjected to a prolonged assault. Nicole stubbornly fought on, even after she was bloodied by a vicious flying knee smash from Ivelisse. Finally, Portia was able to tag in, but she fared no better. Portia refused to tag out to Nicole and it was finally Portia who took the fall.

After the decision, Portia quickly rolled out of the ring and into the arms of her partner. The Ninjas exited quickly, but Ivelisse and Jennacide remained in the ring, glaring at Velvet, until TEDDY LONG returned to the ring ramp.

Teddy: All right, ladies- you have proved your point. I put y'all in the match and y'all got the job done. Ivelisse- you have earned a challenge match against Nicole Matthews, one-on-one, No Disqualification. If you can defeat Nicole, you will earn yourself a title match. And you, Jennacide, you have earned yourself a shot at the Mistress of Mayhem Championship!

The fans boo as Jennacide and Ivelisse leave the ring, smirking proudly.

Velvet: Well, rickenfrats! You all know my feelings for Ivelisse and her big ugly stooge Jennacide. But they called their shot and they came through- and Teddy is going to give them their title shots. That's all I have to say about that- so let's head to tonight's Main Event!


MAIN EVENT: MISTRESS OF MAYHEM CHAMPIONSHIP
KELLY KLEIN (c) pinned MADDISON MILES***** after a Side Backbreaker

It was a one-sided mauling in the Main Event as Kelly annihilated Maddison and put her away quickly.

KELLY KLEIN RETAINS THE MISTRESS OF MAYHEM CHAMPION

After the decision, JENNACIDE returned to ringside and had a staredown with Kelly Klein.


Velvet: KELLY KLEIN is still the baddest woman in the Heartland, if you ask me. She made a statement by beating the daylights out of Maddison tonight, and she shows no sign of backing down from Jennacide. You go, girl! That's it for tonight, Heartland- thanks for another awesome night of wrestling here in Columbus! It was definitely a crazy one- but the beat rolls on. Heartland is headed to Orlando this coming Saturday for a great show from the Atlantic Wrestling Federation. CHRIS JERICHO defeated KEN SHAMROCK*** by submission with the Walls of Jericho


BOBO BRAZIL******** pinned PAT PATTERSON**** with a Coco Butt

Brazil and Patterson threw down in a nasty brawl, spilling out of the ring frequently. RAY STEVENS came to ringside and attacked Bobo, then Stevens handed his boot to Patterson, who used the boot to smash Brazil on the forehead, busting him open! But Brazil battled back, and when the action reutnred to the ring, Brazil used his bloody head as a battering ram, delivering a series of coco butts to finally secure the victory.


THE SHEEPHERDERS (LUKE WILLIAMS & BUTCH MILLER) defeated TOM ZENK & BRIAN PILLMAN*** when Luke pinned Pillman with the Battering Ram

RODDY PIPER***** defeated ANTONIO INOKI******* by submission with the Sleeper Hold

EpicDave: What a match that was! Piper and Inoki have been rivals here in AWF and they went all out for the match tonight. Even the interference of ADRIAN ADONIS couldn't stop Piper here tonight. And now, it will be PIPER vs. ADONIS in a Number One Contender's Match for the Atlantic Heavyweight Championship!


GRUDGE MATCH- NO DISQUALIFICATION:
KEVIN SULLIVAN pinned JACK BRISCO******* with a Double Foot Stomp

Sullivan was in control for most of the match against Brisco, but Jack stubbornly battled back from the brutal tactics employed by Sullivan. Sullivan used the ring mic to bust open Jack's forehead, but Brisco kept coming. As Brisco continued to battle, CACTUS JACK came to ringside and clobbered Jack from behind! Jack went down, and Sullivan hit the Double Foot Stomp for the pin.

After the match, Jack was interviewed by GORDON SOLIE. As Jack discussed the pride of the Brisco family, Cactus and Sullivan surrounded Jack. Brother JERRY BRISCO quickly joined Jack at ringside, and a tense staredown developed. Solie instructed Cactus and Sullivan to leave, and Sullivan led Cactus back to the dressing room.

Jerry: We ain't done with you all- not by a long shot. Mr. Solie- I want a match with Cactus Jack!

Solie: And you shall have it, sir.


EpicDave: Wow. You would think that getting your brains beaten in by KEVIN SULLIVAN would make a guy think twice about escalating a feud. Especially when you are the reigning NWA World Tag Team Champions. But Jack and Jerry are both fiercely proud men who refuse to take a backward step for anybody- and in this situation, that may do more harm than good.


ATLANTIC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
NICK ALDIS (c) defeated KEVIN VON ERICH**** by submission with the King's Lynn Cloverleaf

It was an excellent performance for the champion tonight. Aldis took Kevin to the mat and never let him up! Kevin was unable to get his high-flying offense engaged, and Aldis put him down hard with a Mag Daddy Driver. Before Kevin could recover, Aldis clamped on the Cloverleaf to force the submission.

NICK ALDIS RETAINS THE ATLANTIC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

EpicDave: Very impressive! Aldis did exactly what he wanted to do- he forced Kevin into a technical matchup and he dominated. I don't think the outcome was ever in doubt. And now, fans- we take you to the Main Event- and I have been anxiously awaiting this one since the moment it was signed!


MAIN EVENT: NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH
THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (STAN LANE & BOBBY EATON w/JIM CORNETTE) defeated THE FANTASTICS (TOMMY ROGERS & BOBBY FULTON*) when Eaton pinned Fulton with the Veg-O-Matic

Bobby Fulton fell prey to the oldest trick in the book, and it was costly for the Fantastics. Early in the match, the Midnights lured Fulton out of the ring. Fulton charged after Cornette, but Lane sprang a trap and caught Fulton with a drop toe hold. Cornette had his tennis racket at the ready, and Fulton landed throat-first on the racket! Without remorse, Lane rolled Fulton back into the ring and Eaton blaster Fulton with the Veg-O-Matic for the pin.


EpicDave: Oh, my goodness! What a heinous turn of events! Thanks to the vicious attack of Jim Cornette and Stan Lane, the Midnight Express have won the match and earned a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Championship. But more importantly, Bobby Fulton may have been severely injured in that attack. The Heartland trainers are on the scene and they are assisting him backstage for evaluation. We certainly wish him all the best. As far as tonight goes, the Midnight Express will move on for a World Tag Team Championship match against JACK & JERRY BRISCO- if the champions survive. All right, fans- we're done here. Thanks for checking us out tonight! Heartland will be back on Wednesday night with action from Pro Wrestling Mid-America. PWMA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
BARRY WINDHAM* & KEVIN STEEN** battled to a double count-out

Windham and Steen went to war! The match opened with a "hockey fight" exchange of punches, as the two enemies wailed away with a fury. Windham was able to send Steen into the ropes and send Steen soaring with a mighty back drop. Windham went for the Blackjack Claw, but Steen escaped with a vicious low blow that left Windham in a heap on the mat. The crowd burst into cheers! This brought SHANE DOUGLAS to ringside, in support of Windham.

EpicDave: Shane Douglas? That's the last person we need out here!

No sooner did Douglas arrive, then THE ROAD WARRIORS hit the scene! Hawk and Animal proceeded to pound the stuffings out of Douglas! Within moments, STAN HANSEN dashed to ringside to take up for Douglas. Steen slid out of the ring, and pulled Windham out with him, and a six-way brawl ensued! Referees came in from backstage, but the brawl spilled out of control and the match was thrown out.

EpicDave: Whatever we want? Not tonight, my friends. THE ROAD WARRIORS are here and they have taken up the cause against the tyrants of 3W. And with TERRY FUNK away from his mates defending the world title, the numbers game for 3W is no longer solid. But now, fans- 3W is center stage once again as JACKIE FARGO takes on BRET HART in our Main Event- with the vacant Southland Heavyweight Championship on the line.

BRET HART* pinned JACKIE FARGO* after a Superplex

Chaos in the championship match! Fargo was using every dirty trick in the book in an effort to subdue Hart, but the Hitman was holding his own. As the battle raged, a commotion arose as BARRY WINDHAM and ROAD WARRIOR HAWK brawled their way down the aisle! In the middle of the fracas, Fargo was caught in the side of the head with a stray elbow which stunned him! Hart was able to capitalize on the mishap and plant Fargo with a Superplex for the pin.

BRET HART CAPTURES THE SOUTHLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

EpicDave: What a fiasco! Fans- there is so much to unpack here. Congratulations to BRET HART for winning the Southland Heavyweight Championship- the very title that TERRY FUNK vacated when Funker won the world title. THE ROAD WARRIORS made their presence known here tonight in Houston! Jackie Fargo got beat- and Barry Windham failed to earn a title shot. As of now, we have NO Number One Contender for the PWMA Heavyweight Championship. So we are going to need to bring the PWMA Championship Committee together to determine the next step in finding a challenger for NICK BOCKWINKEL. It has been a wild night here in Texas!
