GWF Classics #88: Road to CLIMAX
07.21.2080 from Calliope Muse Gardens, Asteroid Belt

-The CLIMAX picture could get a lot clearer tonight with the results of the 4 matches we have on the card. Will we have clear favorites with consecutive wins like we did last year? Or will the blocks even out providing us with even more drama going into the final card?

-Also, we'll see Rama take on Jammer in singles action. Can the Wind Rider get revenge? Will this battle simply be another step in the war? And what will their tag team partners get up to?

-Speaking of tag team action, Tantalis and Parsec have been very vocal recently about Hechilles and Caiman getting a fluke win for the titles and that they will reclaim what's theirs! Then they'll have no problem making losers out of the Gamemasters.

-Cosmos and Star Warrior were nearly chomping at the bit to get their hands on the former champs, but will wait it out to see if their title shot will be against the Estorians or the current champs.

-And Hechilles and Caiman had choice words for Parsec and Tantalis as well. They said they've earned these titles and worked their asses off and won't let anyone get in their way of representing the GWF as honorable champions; not the Gamemasters, and surely not the Estorians.

-Omega also is eager for the challenge at Star Bash and will be giving guest commentary at CLIMAX to scout his potential opponent, the eventual winner of the F-Cup.

- Filsinger Cup Block B -
Moonstrike vs. Morpheus
Morpheus defeated Moonstrike with a TRIP TO HADES at 2:16
Match Rating: 1.50
Match Notes: There was a brief exchange early on, but Moonstrike got the duke and ended up taking it to Morpheus with a flurry of blows and then a big missile dropkick. He followed up with a superkick, but Morpheus rolled outside.

He bent the rulebook, but avoided DQ and posted Moonstrike. The Titan was on dream street and got creamed with a TRIP TO HADES that got a quick 1, 2, 3!

Morpheus picks up the win!

If Mighty Grogan beats Ricken Prince, then Grogan and Morpheus will face-off for the finals of Block B!

- Filsinger Cup Block B -
Mighty Grogan vs. Ricken Prince
Mighty Grogan defeated Ricken Prince with an Olympic Roll-Up at 8:19
Match Rating: 3.00
Match Notes: Ricken Prince came out swinging and rocked Grogan early on. He hit him with a lot, even a ROYAL DECREE, but it wasn't enough!

Grogan fired up and came back with a series of big moves, scoring multiple near falls. Prince tried to come back, but a missed splash in the corner sent him face first into the post!

A bleeding Ricken Prince was then blasted with a DDT from Grogan and he followed up quickly with an Olympic Roll-Up for the win!

Might Grogan will face Morpheus and the winner will be in the finals of the Filsinger Cup!

- Filsinger Cup Block A -
Hechilles vs. Torin Caelum
Torin Caelum defeated Hechilles with a count-out at 22:06
Match Rating: 4.25
Match Notes: Torin Caelum was in no mood to mess around, but Hechilles would not back down. He took everything Caelum had to the point of the extreme. Caelum beat up his legs, back, and, of course, his shoulder. Big time. Hechilles was a mess by the time the match reached it's conclusion. He could never sustain any offense and Caelum had an answer for everything.

Tons of nearfalls and Caelum could not believe that Hechilles wouldn't tap.

The action spilled outside a couple of times and there was some brawling, but the finish came in uncharacteristic style as Caelum took the fight outside after Hechilles escaped yet another submission attempt. Hechilles was limping badly and his left arm was barely functioning.

Caelum drove him back first into the guardrail and then dropped him with a shoulder breaker. He rolled in and the ref counted him out!

Caelum is moving on and has scored a big win on his path to becoming the most decorated man in GWF history. If he wins the F-Cup, he'll be the only man to hold the Galaxian singles and tag belts and win the F-Cup.

Could this be his last run at glory? Or will someone play spoiler before that sunset ride?

- Filsinger Cup Block A -
K.O. Keller vs. Commander Sam
Commander Sam defeated K.O. Keller with a SAM'S ATOMIC DROP at 7:11
Match Rating: 2.25
Match Notes: Wow! Commander Sam had no problem taking it to his mentor and partner. He came out to wrestle, but Keller dropped him with a flurry and raised Sam's ire!

Sam began hitting big impact moves and went for a cover, but it was too early. He kept up the pressure and in spite of Keller showing some fire here and there, it was really all Sam.

There was a superplex spot that Sam then followed up with a Commander Slam for a nearfall.

Sam then hit yet another suplerplex and then Keller rolled out for a breather, but Sam wisely stayed in the ring. He then hit SAM'S ATOMIC DROP to score a strong 1, 2, 3! Big win for Sam!

Caelum is on the ramp to a big pop! It'll be Caelum vs Sam for the A block final! WIll Sam spoil Caelum's run at history? Or will the old gunfighter ride off into the sunset sealing his legendary status?

Jammer vs. Rama
Rama defeated Jammer with a DQ at 4:01
Match Rating: 2.75
Match Notes: Rama could barely wait for the bell and Jammer was happy to oblige. Jammer has actually been in Rama's shoes, returning from injury after a horrible attack, but Jammer took the role of aggressor against Rama putting the Wind Rider on the shelf!

Jammer went for a lariat, but Rama ducked and hit a succession of flying forearms! He went for a springboard, Jammer tried a clothesline, Rama rolled under, sprang to his feet, and hit a spectacular hurricanrana!

The fans were on fire as Rama would dive to the outside with a moonsault DDT! Jammer was nearly counted out, but rolled in only to be met with more high-flying and a nearfall after a shooting star press!

Blood ran down and as Rama went for a cover after a frog splash, he slid into the ring and began to beat down Rama drawing the DQ!

Tano makes the save on his partner and is brawling with Blood!

Jammer has a chair and wallops Rama!

Officials are out and separate the four as the fans are at a fever pitch!

It's been announced that the teams will meet in a Falls Count Anywhere war at CLIMAX!

We'll also have a tag team title match as Hechilles & Caiman defend against the Estorians!

And, of course, we will crown our second annual F-Cup winner!

Despite the loss, Hechilles looked seriously tough against Caelum... How the Estorians were scouting that match because they need to bring their top game to Climax in order to reclaim the tag belts...

Expected more from Keller... But, a great win for Sam...

No secret that I'm a huge fan of Torin Caelum. I'm hoping he can have last ride for glory by winning the F-Cup and then hanging up the boots.

Hechilles hasn't panned out quite as well as a singles performer, but with he and Caiman holding the tag titles, I can't be too disappointed.

Of course with the Estorians chomping at the bit for their rematch, who knows if Hechilles & Caiman will be able to hang on to the straps much longer...

-The Second Annual Filsinger Cup will be decided tonight! It all comes down to 4 men: Torin Caelum, Commander Sam, Mighty Grogan, & Morpheus. Who will triumph? Will Morpheus earn yet another opportunity at the belt? Will Mighty Grogan forge his way to one of the finest rookie years in GWF history? Will Commander Sam finally cement his place and ascent to the top? Or, will Torin Caelum, refuse to go quietly into that good night and etch his name even deeper into the history books by claiming the cup?

-We've also got 2 tag team contests tonight! In our first, The Wind Riders will attempt to get one last measure of revenge against Defiance in what is sure to be a wild Milky Way Falls Count Anywhere match!

-Our other tag team contest will be for the GWF Galaxian Tag Team titles! Hechilles and Caiman defend in a 2 out of 3 falls rematch for the Estorians! Can Prsec and Tantalis reclaim the gold they say is rightfully his?

-Tonight is not just about the F-Cup and much of the card will go a long way to determining the lineup for our next Super Card: Star Bash!

- Filsinger Cup Block A Final -
Torin Caelum vs. Commander Sam
Torin Caelum defeated Commander Sam with a shoulderbreaker at 12:42
Match Rating: 3.50
Match Notes: Commander Sam has the chance to make it to his second consecutive F-Cup finals after beating K.O. Keller to make this match the Block A final with Torin Caelum.

Caelum is looking to secure his legacy as one of the greatest of all time with a win here.

And Caelum came out swinging. But Sam bounced back the jockeyed for position in the opening moments. Sam even scoring a nearfall.

Caelum held nothing back, though, and even brawled with Sam outside, getting the better of the Commander!

Back in the drama heightened as both men tried to come off the top but were met by the other.

Caelum began softening up the shoulder with big shoulderbreakers and dropkicks and Sam was hurting.

Caelum hit another shoulderbreaker out of no where to get a surprise 1, 2, 3!

Torin Caelum is going to the finals! He's one win away from etching his name in the history books! But will it be Morpheus or Mighty Grogan standing in his way?

- Filsinger Cup Block B Final -
Morpheus vs. Mighty Grogan
Mighty Grogan defeated Morpheus with an UPPER CRUSH at 15:07
Match Rating: 3.75
Match Notes: Mighty Grogan stands poised to have one of the finest rookie years in GWF history. He's a match away from going to the F-Cup finals and getting a shot at the Galaxian Championship.

Morpheus knows this is his only way back to title contention. He's used up all his chances and had an embarrassing run at the title against K.O. Keller after holding it for a matter or weeks.

Morpheus was all business and came out with everything he had. He was hitting Natural Disasters and locking in his patented cobra grip, but Grogan would not stay down. Anytime Grogan started a comeback, though, Morpheus cut him off and went back to work.

He was never able to get more than a nearfall, though, and after being shot into the ropes he took advantage of Morpheus' misstep and dropped him with a piledriver! DDT! Nearfall!

Grogan roared back to life and hit some big bombs, including his Russian Sickle and a brainbuster.

He applied the UPPER CRUSH, but Morpheus got the ropes!

Grogan, incensed, dragged Morpheus back to the middle and applied his finisher again and Morpheus had not choice but to tap out!

Mighty Grogan is fighting for the F-Cup!

Will it be the Mighty one? Or the Living Legend?

Our main event it set: Torin Caelum vs Mighty Grogan for the 2nd annual Filsinger Cup!

- Filsinger Cup Block B -
Moonstrike vs. Ricken Prince
Moonstrike defeated Ricken Prince with a DQ at 5:42
Match Rating: 2.00
Match Notes: Pince tried to use his power to outdo Moonstrike early and even got a near fall with ROYAL DECREE, but the Titan came back to life brawling on the outside, drawing warnings from the ref.

His aerial skills were on display back inside, but Prince was able to turn the tides, though it see-sawed.

Prince, frustrated, built a head of steam and then hit BOW TO THE PRINCE right in front of the ref and drew a DQ!

Solar Flare made his way to ringside, but was jumped by Mimic!

Ricken Prince laughed as he grabbed his clown and the headed to the back... Something tells me Paladin Power won't take too kindly to this...

- Filsinger Block A -
Hechilles vs. K.O. Keller
This match ended in a draw (Time Limit Draw) at 30:00
Match Rating: 4.25
Match Notes: Pride. That's what this one was all about. Neither man performed how they would've liked to in the F-Cup tournament. Keller is coming off his championship loss to Omega, Hechilles, a tag champ, had been unable to replicate that success in singles competition.

But these two fought like everything was on the line.

Hechilles threw everything he had at Keller and the first 10 minutes or so were all Hechilles. He scored a near fall and went for the submission with the clover-leaf, but Keller's legendary toughness was one full display.

Keller used those incredible fists to get him back in the game. He scored a few near falls of his own, but both men's cardiovascular condition was on full display as well as their fortitude.

The minutes kept ticking by and neither man could sustain any offense. They began pulling out all the stops. They took the top with varying degrees of success. Hechilles hit with a flying clothesline after tossing Keller from the top.

They were battling back and forth as the match was finally taking it's toll.

Hechilles hit a Russian Leg Sweep, but couldn't capitalize. He whipped Keller into the turnbuckle and the bell rang!

The time limit has expired. What a war. For 30 minutes each man gave their best, Hechilles even got the shoulder up after THE TEN COUNT. Neither was willing to go into that night and we have a draw match ensuring both men finish with 1 point each. The crowd is on their feet as the competitors shake hands showing us what it's all about.

- Milky Way Falls Count Anywhere -
The Windriders vs. Defiance
Rama defeated Blood with a Deimos Driver at 33:21
Match Rating: 4.50
Match Notes: This was everything you thought it would and could be.

A wild and bloody brawl that spent just as much time on the outside as in.

Multiple pinfall attempts both inside, but mostly out.

Rama and Blood started off and after a brief time wrestling, things went outside and they battled all over the damn building, with their partners never too far away.

Rama was busted open about 10 minutes in and looked in a bad way, but kept on coming. Tano broke up a couple pin attempts, but Blood and Jammer were up to their old POW ways. Rama was put through a table and then smashed with a a cane!

The Wind Riders came back, tho!

Tano was able to take the fight to Blood, but a tag brought Jammer in. The fans wanted to see Rama get a piece of Jammer and it didn't take long for that to happen. Bloodied but unbowed, Rama came in on fire and soon some solid tag work got them a couple near falls on Jammer.

Tano would take the fight outside again and soon Jammer was wearing the crimson mask!

It wouldn't take long before Tano and Blood followed suit as they brawled all over the arena. More tables were sacrificed and foreign objects put to use. Tano was able to establish dominance on Blood and hit a beautiful somersault splash back inside the ring!

A tag... Deimos Driver! Rama makes the cover and the ref counts the 1, 2, 3!

What a match! The Wind Riders have scored a huge win over their hated rivals in a bloody match that literally went all over this arena. Gutsy display by the youngsters from Cetus.

- 2/3 Falls -
Hechilles & Caiman vs. Estorians
for the Galaxian Tag Team Championship
Caiman defeated Parsec with a DQ at 10:54
Hechilles defeated Tantalis with a DQ at 33:31
Match Rating: 4.50
Match Notes: This was hot from the get go as both teams jockeyed for position.

Hechilles was clearly showing the effects of his 30 minute draw from earlier in the evening, but still able to mount some bursts of offense to keep his team alive.

The first fall came as the action spilled to the outside, something that happened almost as much as in the previous Falls Count Anywhere match!

Parsec was taking liberties outside and ignoring the ref's warnings. When he started choking Caiman with an electrical cord, the ref called the DQ!

The match was such a brawl from here on out. At one point Caiman was rammed into the post and came up bleeding!

The Estorians went on a tear and used every move in their arsenal including multiple finishers, but Hechilles either made the save, or Caiman's resiliency came through! He astonished everyone by getting the shoulder up after a tombstone piledriver! He was a bloody mess, but still in the match!

He made a hot tag to Hechilles and it looked like the champs would comeback, but Tantalis went to work on the arm again, hitting a fourth elbow cruncher!

Hechilles was hurting, but action spilled out again! We've got a brawl! All four men on the outside! Tantalis hits Hechilles with a chair! The bell rings as we get a second DQ!

They're all fighting after the bell!

Caiman has the chair now and smashes Tantalis with it! Caiman hits the HANDICAPPER multiple times outside!

This is getting out of hand! Tantalis has to be stretchered out as Hechilles tries to control his partner.

What a scene!

Mighty Grogan vs. Torin Caelum
for the Filsinger Cup
Torin Caelum defeated Mighty Grogan with a CAELUM'S GRIP at 12:58
Match Rating: 3.75
Match Notes: It all comes down to this. Will Mighty Grogan forge his way to a title shot at Star Bash or will Torin Caelum find himself the first man to win the F-Cup, the Galaxian Championship, and Galaxian Tag Team Championship?

They went back and forth, see sawing for control. Both men trying some big bombs. Caelum got aggressive and went for a head stomp, but Grogan rolled out of the way and took over on offense.

Grogan scored a near fall with the Russian Sickle and was clearly going after Caelum's head and neck. Caelum came back, but it was short-lived and Grogan scored another 2-count with another Russian Sickle. He hit a big DDT and head butt!

It was starting to look like Grogan would run away with it and Caelum even tried to take a breather outside, something he very rarely does.

Back in Grogan shot him into the ropes... Double clothesline! Both men are down!

The ref starts the count. Grogan is stirring, he picks Caelum up... Caelum with the go behind... CAELUM'S GRIP! He's got it sinked in in the middle of the ring!

Grogan is fading! Unbelievable! Torin Caelum has choked him out! The ref calls for the bell!

Torin Caelum has won the second annual Flisinger Cup and the crowd is going crazy!

Omega rises from the commentary table to lead a standing ovation for Caelum. Star Warrior, Cosmos, and even Morpheus have made their way out to congratulate him!

As the trophy is being presented, K.O. Keller even makes his way down to congratulate his long-time rival. It's an incredible scene.

Grogan is not happy at ringside and even throws a chair down before heading to the back, but even that cannot sully this moment.

Will Caelum take to his retirement? Or will he decide to challenge Omega one last time as is his right by winning the F-Cup?

Not real happy the Estorians failed to regain the tag belts... Especially on such a controversial note... But, judging by that finish, we can probably look forward to another rematch in the not too distant future...

Thanks again, gents! It was a really fun card to play out. The draw, the two tag matches, and the final were all top quality, with the tag matches being particularly great.

I am debating over whether to give Caelum the title match. I feel like "he" said this was it for him, but I also can't help but feel there would be legs to the match with Omega... Then again, Keller is entitled to a rematch. Either way, I'm so very glad that Torin Caelum got this win. In fact, I think I just talked myself out of it. He can ride off into the sunset a hero, the first man to win both active titles and the F-Cup. He was my first champ. What a career.

And don't you worry, Pariah, the Estorians will definitely find themselves in another title match, but will it be at Star Bash?

Really appreciate the comments. I'm feeling fairly full steam ahead with rolling out cards right now. I'm looking into restarting my legends fed, too. So keep an eye out.
