The purists are idiots. Justin Verlander should be the AL MVP. But they won't give it to him because "he only plays once every 5 days". Ignoring the obvious fact that, if Justin Verlander plays on any other team, the Detroit Tigers would not make the playoffs. well said my friend. As I type this the Tigers are knee deep in another slug-fest, this time with the Tribe. Just put up 5 in the 7th thanks to a V-Mart Grand Slam. Then the Indians answer with 2 so far to make it a 1 run game in 7th. The Sox still have me nervous but the Tigs magic # is 14 going into today. They pull this out and I might be able to finally say the Tigers are 100% post-season bound.

And now tonight the Tigers go for their 12th in a row. Simply OUTSTANDING. What really is there to say? Tigers went from the team everyone was waiting to see fail to challenging for best record in the AL. *Right now*, no one is playing better ball than the Detroit Baseball Tigers. Leyland recently voted 3rd overall by all MLB players as coach they'd most want to play for. Alex Avilia is fast becoming the best young catcher in the big leagues. Verlander is the best pitcher in the game. We have one of the hardest hitting line-ups in Tiger history going into the playoffs. Yeah, great time to be a Tiger fan. Can't wait for the post-season. Right now Tigers can play with anybody.

Around here they always make a deal of "April in the D."
Now the Tigers setting the baseball world on fire heading into October, the Lions are on the verge of a possible playoff breakthrough, and the Wolverines are putting on entertaining games. The Wings are going to training camp. And there shouldn't be any Pistons to screw it all up.
It makes me think that the fall months might be a whole lot better than the spring.
Tigers: Won 12 games in a row. Lions: Won 9 games in a row.

BIG night tonight fans. IF the Tribe lose in Texas (0-0 in the 3rd right now) and the Tigers win tonight in Oakland, Tigers CLINCH the Division.
I'm staying cool about it. Tigers have already stepped so far over expectations at this point I'm just sitting back, chill, taking it all in. I'll stay up late and watch (esp if Clev loses) but I'm not holding my breath. Tigers will clinch when they clinch. Would be very special to see it come on their 13th in a row, but if not, that's cool too.
GO TIGERS!!!!!

Well they didn't make it, but barring a total collapse, they're in. Looking forward to seeing how far they go in the playoffs.

Tigs get another shot tonight. Oakland always plays them tough, and I'm sure they don't want to see Detroit celebrating on their field. This kind of thing really wakes up teams with otherwise nothing left to play for. I expect the Tigers to clinch by Sunday. As soon as they do it's party time.
