Yeah the Jets winning might well be the way the Seahawks take it which would be cool.

No excuses, the Seahawks were outplayed by the Rams last weekend.
However, I am at least very glad to see that the Seahawks today locked up General Manager John Schneider (one of the very best general managers in the NFL) today through 2027:
Seahawks, GM John Schneider agree to contract extension
Just over a week after a report said other teams might pursue general manager John Schneider, the Seahawks on Tuesday announced a five-year contract extension that will keep him in Seattle through the 2027 NFL draft.
His current deal went through the 2022 draft.
Schneider has been with Seattle since January 2010, and with coach Pete Carroll they have built the Seahawks into one of the NFL’s most consistent franchises, including a 12-win season this year and the NFC West Division title, the fifth since their arrival.
Carroll earlier this season signed a contract extension keeping him with Seattle through the 2025 season, when he will be 74 years old.
A report from the NFL Network last week said the Detroit Lions, and possibly other teams, might try to lure Schneider away by offering him total control, which he does not have with Seattle. Carroll officially has final say.
Terms of Schneider’s new contract were not immediately announced.
In a statement, team chairperson Jody Allen said: “I am pleased to announce that we have extended the contract of general manager John Schneider through the 2027 draft. For the last decade, John and head coach Pete Carroll have formed a tremendous partnership and the Seahawks have established a successful, unique, and truly winning culture respected throughout sports. I know we are all excited to see that continue.”

Hawks turn down 3 first round picks, a 3rd round pick and two defensive starters from the Bears for Russell Wilson!!??
I would have put Russ on the first bus to Illinois. Wow.

First Round picks don’t do the Seahawks any good since they do not know how to use them effectively. They do really well drafting in the mid and late rounds but usually waste their first round picks so I would rather have Wilson.

Fire the GM because that is a once in a lifetime offer only a completely inept organization like the Bears would make. A five player for one trade like that is the kind of trade that wins Seattle a Super Bowl or 3. Lions have 5 first rounder over the next 3 drafts. Even a team like the Lions has a chance with those odds. It’s insane what LA gave up for Stafford, but crazy emotions sometimes lead to poor decisions. The Bears actually tried trumping the greatest haul by any team in forever. And Seattle said no. Pretty crazy. Maybe Russ was bluffing and nixed the trade? I don’t know if he has a no trade clause. But any front office who willfully turns down that trade is making a historic mistake imo Edit: I guess I can understand Seattle thinking they’re close. They did finish 12-4 and win the division. So i get the win now attitude. Having 6 first rounders is extremely enticing but if the goal is to win now, I get it. Hopefully Wilson is happy in Seattle after teasing leaving. Because if he does force a trade next year, I can’t see them getting another offer like that.

The Raiders traded Khalil Mack to the Bears for a package that included multiple first-round picks and the Raiders did not improve. I don't want to trade one of the best QBs in the NFL who has multiple years left on his contract for Chicago's 20th pick in the draft plus two more 1st round picks that would likely also be in the 20s once Chicago got Wilson. And if the Seahawks trade Russel Wilson this year before June 1st they have to take a $39 million dead cap hit for the 2021 season. That would be a mistake.

Good luck to both of you! Speaking of the Seahawks, I was really glad to see they signed Jamal Adams to a contract extension on Tuesday.

Update: Jinxed myself. Turns out the Hawks weren’t available this cycle. I have a theory that the league is trying to dump old inventory because the available teams are the same ones from last season. Got the Browns. Good news is when the Hawks are available were at the top of the waiting list.

The Seahawks decisively defeated the Colts on the road!
Russell Wilson and the offense looked great despite most of the starters not playing at all in the Preseason. It reinforces my belief that Preseason is mostly meaningless for established NFL players who have secure spots on their teams.
