I think the thing with the Q&A's is that Mark and Osk make themselves available on the boards constantly, plus we have time after aCe and CPC/POW are released to ask questions on here. The new GWF set is released the night before and there is lots of unanswered questions, so I'm not opposed to having it still. The legends Q&A could simply be summed up by Tim letting us know if anyone new is signed and Nitro didn't need a Q&A because he had his own table!
After running OhioCon last year and soon to be this year, I offered to help for next year's GCon. I think there are a bunch of great guys, all with fun in mind and Champions Tournaments is the way to achieve that. 364 days of the yar I get to play CotG by myself, for that one glorious day in Jamestown, I'd like to play with other people as many times as possible. It should be about fairness, friendliness, and fun...plain and simple. I think next year will see alot of people step up to help and it should be embraced as to progress things in a positive direction with the idea of helping Champions go main stream.
Let's make GCon the GREATEST CON IN THE GALAXY!

Tom and I have talked about it to and we'll still have Q&A, but it will be 30 minutes for all creative staff together and 30 minutes for Tom to talk GWF and company stuff. Leave 1 hour for auction, 1 hour for Trivia, 1 hour for dinner/break. That leaves us 6 hours for playing. Although I may mess that up again next year with a special Saturday night event, assuming its approved by the man.

That sounds good to me.

GalactiCup tournament should only be GWF guys. It always was. I won the second year of it with Raven 2112, so it wasn't always GWF guys. What I meant was, we always used GWF guys originally (before the advent of aCe, CPC/POW/LOW). Plus, Tom said on several occasions this past weekend that guys are only designed to fight the other guys in their own feds so we shouldn't cross them. For example, when Amazing Mann was in GWF, he didn't have a +4 finisher and a reversal on L3O. He does now in aCe because he's a former GWF guy, so he'd be better in aCe. But, if you play his aCe card against GWF guys now, his card is better than it was when he was in the GWF -- just like your Raven. He had a +4 finisher, but when he was in the GWF, he didn't. It's about the design of the card. That's why we need to have a conversion chart (which Tom has now strongly considered) or, the better option -- no crossing the brands in tournaments. Tom has said that in the early days of the Con, you would hear about Pit Vyper beating Thantos and you'd be like, "Wow!" But it's hard to get excited when Bobo Brazil beats Esperanto or Thayne or Rage because the cards were not meant to fight each other even though the game mechanic is the same.

I don't know. There's the "Bloodline" rule in effect already, at least for GWFZ, POW and (I assume) aCe guys, so aren't those cards already handicapped in head-to-head matchups against the likes of Monolith, etc.?
I think the fact that people tend to pick GWF cards anyway already speaks to what people want when it comes to the big tourney. It's almost a moot point.

These are some solid points. It's an absolute fact that cards like the new Amazing Mann are designed solely from the perspective of him competing against the roster in the current aCe fed. I think not crossing the brands for the tournaments sake isn't such a bad idea. Results wouldn't be so all over the place...they'd make more sense, I guess. Of course speaking in general for a second, I mean away from G-Con, for those who run their own feds where guys from every brand are involved, things still work out because like Mark said, the "Bloodline rule" is always in effect. ...but mixing Legends and COTG is just plain wrong. ;D ~ :-Xsk

...but mixing Legends and COTG is just plain wrong. ;D That's because Danny Hodge would make all these guys cry like little girls. I say leave the choices wide open. Maybe some people only play one or two "brands" and are comfortable with those cards. As I've said before, it's a card and dice wrestling game. What's the big deal?

I hate to sound like I'm speaking for others but the general feedback I got at GCON (including Tom) was mixing the guys in tournaments isn't working...when we were sitting around waiting for tournaments people were like "Let's have a POW tourney, or an aCe or GWFZ tourney..." No one just said "Let's have a tournament."
After talking with Tom, Todd and Kris it sounds like next year we'll see a GWF tournament (the Perennial), an aCe tourney, a POW Tourney, a Legends Tourney and a GWFZ Tourney.
I love this idea. Add to this the Canada Cup and a Tag Tournament along with the Trivia contest and you have your 8 qualifiers for the Galacticup tournament.
I'm way more interested in seeing an Amazing Mann vs. Peacemaker final or Saboteur vs. Thayne final or a Steve Williams vs. Sabu final than a Sly Drury vs. Bobo Brazil final, for example.
Props to Kris and Todd for figuring this out and suggesting the changes. It's only going to make all the tournaments better next year!

I'm all for doing this next year, however the Galacticon Cup I've always had as a collection of all cards ever made by Filsinger Games. I think the reason that there were no Legends used the first couple years, was because the Legends game didn't exist then. I personally though hope to never see a Legend on the Cup...but I don't think its right to ban people from using them (unlike banning Destruction 3000 and Iron Hand).

This is exactly how we ran OhioCon last year, but we did have each of the winning cards from these tournaments face off in a final tournament for the OhioCon Trophy. Mil Mascaras won it, but we had a blast regardless. Oh and by 7 PM Rob, I was saying "let's play a tourney," but that was due to lack of playing, not lack of caring :-)
