Try again. You're not painting Pete, but you are painting. Your brush is so large as to knock over the canvas. One of the most infamous images from the Occupy movement was an elderly woman who had been pepper sprayed in the face. She must have been a real party animal in the dorms. Here Hyde, take my brush. Have at it. Please. I surrender to MSNBC group think. Thanks for letting me play kids. I sincerely apologize for my cold hearted conservative ways. I make a good point, and you throw "MSNBC group think" at me without actually counter-arguing my point. I estimate I've watched a total of one hour of MSNBC in my life. Excellent painter. At least you know you've lost. Next time, try countering my arguing points.

I sympathize with the "all politicans are the same" talking point and I agree that for the most part the government has succeeded in making the arguments all about Democrat vs. Republican, like a sports rivalry, instead of the Haves vs. the Have Nots which is how it actually is.
That said, there's no way that Obama is "equally" terrible to Bush, who's the biggest disgrace to the Presidency in the history of the country. And with all due respect to that "all politicians are the same" stuff, I don't see ANY WAY that Al Gore would have had us in nearly as bad of a mess as Bush did. Obama may be on the level of Reagan (a guy who tripled the national deficit, gave amnesty to illegal immigrants, raised taxes, and did a bunch of other Pinko Socialist Commie stuff), but he's still an improvement on what we had before and what the Republicans are offering this year.
I'm not a blind supporter of him. If the Republicans were capable of offering up a candidate worth voting for then I'd be all for it. But they're not (this year), so I'm not going to.
I was also a dumb college freshman in 2000 in his first Presidential election (or election, period) who thought he was being on the cutting edge by voting for Nader, so you can blame me for this mess, too. I won't disagree. It's a hindsight view all the way.

I guess we just live in different worlds. And since we are casting stones, it does take a special talent to QUADRUPLE the national debt in 3 years. ::scratches head:: My math skills have deteriorated since school but when Bush left office the debt was about $10 trillion, and it's $11.4 trillion now. We can play math games all you want Pete. But I guess good vs bad debt is all in the eyes of the beholder.

No. Knowledge is power. Use it. There's nothing intellectually powerful about public protesting. To me, that's exactly what normal protests are about. The protest itself is not intellectual, but the goal of a demonstration is to provoke people into asking "What are they upset about?" and then finding out, hence gaining knowledge and power to wield. They raise awareness, kind of like Girl Scouts without cookies. Protests do get out of control, and they are major pains in the ass, but for myself and seemingly others, this bill feels a little too flexible in its powers.

Any point you'd like to bring up about how all Occupiers are spoiled college kids, in reference to my point about the elderly woman?

Ok, let me try put this more clearly. I AM DONE DEBATING WITH YOU. So please keep your Occupier tee shirt for yourself. Despite being the evil conservative you choose to rail against, I am moving on. I served and defended the right to free speech, including yours. I did not do it to engage in a discussion that is going nowhere.

They raise awareness, kind of like Girl Scouts without cookies. Protests do get out of control... I'd argue that they conjure up more hate than awareness. Like I keep repeating, there are far more constructive, and SAFE ways of getting your voice out there. And if what they did was as innocent as selling cookies, then this bill would not have been passed. Are you an active protester?
