More proof God exists. The Republicans and Democrats have come together to stick it to hipster protesters.
The US Government passes Amendment breaking bill
YES! YES! YES! YES! Protesters are the scum of the Earth. Only bloggers are lower on the shit scale. These idiots don't like something so they run into the street and make a bunch of noise. Then the cops usually kick their ass and they waste everyone elses tax money while trying to make bail. I say run them all over with tanks. Unfortunately that did not get passed, but this did -
HR 347 allows secret service members to arrest protesters and punish them with 1 to 10 years in prison. Or an area in protection of the National Special Security Event.
Good! There's no such thing as a "peaceful protest". Hipsters, stay home. If you have a problem with the government, use your ipad to write to your mayor, Governor, president...whatever. Running around outside making noise is for children.

So the First Amendment now officially means NOTHING. Good to know. The government is to be Christian, you can't talk bad about the government, you can no longer protest, and the press is edited to suit the government. Why not take away our Second Amendment rights too, or the Third...you know what, scrap the whole damn document! It has proven nothing but trouble.

very dramatic. You should skip work today, make a sign and go run around in the street with it. That will show them.

Nah, I have a family to support. But while it is dramatic, tell me I'm wrong? The government just disregarded the First Amendment. Aren't they sworn to uphold the Constitution? Why do we even have the document if we can ignore it when it inconvenient to us? This is a blatently unconstitutional law. This law now technically makes every member of Congress a traitor to this nation and they should be treated as such.

So I guess the American Revolution was started by a bunch of whiny hipsters who should have stayed home or would have been better off run over by wagons?

Let's strip the third amendment and force private individuals to bear quarters for military members if the government deems it necessary. Let's especially make sure the anti-war protestors have to house soldiers... All of the time. Sorry, couldn't resist the comment because I always liked the third amendment.

Depends on how far they take their protesting. If they're just shouting and holding up signs, then fine. They have just as much right to do that as Swarm does to speak out against them.
However, if they're interfering with other people's work, lives, etc., then they're taking it too far. Standing outside a store to protest it is one thing. Preventing people from entering (including workers) is another.
For example, a group of people protest a local abortion clinic, standing on the sidewalk nearly every day, holding up signs and shouting derogatorily to anyone driving by, including those who are just going to the post office that's in the same plaza. Fine, they can do that.
But then they caused me to wreck when the blocked the entrance, causing the cars in front of me to suddenly brake and me to hit the second car (I was just driving by since it's off a main road). I later learned they pulled the same stunt several times, which has caused numerous wrecks, most of whom are people just trying to drive by.
If you're p***ed about something, you have a right to say so, but when your words/actions interfere with someone else, you've stepped over the line of your freedom of speech.
You want to hold cows sacred and protest Macdonalds, fine. But don't you dare try to stop me from getting my double cheeseburgers!

So I guess the American Revolution was started by a bunch of whiny hipsters who should have stayed home or would have been better off run over by wagons? Apples to oranges. Just like unions, these ideals are completely out dated. It's 2012. We have every form of communication available at our finger tips. From pen to hand held phone you can use 100 different things to "protest" whatever it is you don't like. Running out into the road, making noise and stirring shit up where people's safety is at risk, is Neanderthal behavior AT BEST. Got a problem? Cool. Read a book. Educate yourself. Write a letter to the government. Write a letter to the President, or Time magazine. Get out and vote. Stop buying whatever it is you're protesting. Whatever. But gathering in a mob, making noise, causing trouble, causing the police to get involved, getting hauled off to jail...is that the best you can do? Chimpanzees can do that. Sometimes a stiff punch to the nose is the only way to get some people's attention. Get these jerks off the streets, throw them in cells and let them protest that. The bitching and moaning about free speech oh man, stop. Just stop with that shit. They just don't want mobs gathering and wasting everyone's time with their crabby bullshit attitude's. It's a big problem. Is that so hard to accept? It's a safety issue if nothing else. Talk about mountains out of molehills.
