WWGP 17 - Legends Sports Arena for Superstar Pro Wrestling Dark Match 1 - DDP WDQ over JJ Dillon. DDP continues his crusade against JJ & Tully as Blanchard interfered before a 2nd DIAMOND CUTTER. Shane Douglas d. George South after 2 Gourd Busters. Shane and his valet Francine immediately challenged Magnum TA to a title match on the next episode as the Franchise does not need to face punks and chumps to prove his standing. Dr. Death d. Claudio Castignoli after a Press Slam Tag-Team Champions Butch & Luke fought to a DDQ with Heenan Family Bockwinkel & Stevens. Butch made the save on a Bombs Away which led to a four-way brawl. The Bushwhackers used a Double GutBuster which led to another four-way brawl and the ref threw the match out. Red Bastien d. Jake Milliman with the ATOMIC DROP. Red has asked for a TV title shot to avenge an attack on his partner Red Lyons. Tiger Conway, JR d. Tully Blanchard after a FLYING HEAD BUTT as DDP was waiting in the wings keeping an eye on JJ Dillon. Shane Douglas d. World Wrestling Grand Prix Champion Magnum TA to win the title! Morgan Dollar ejected Francine after she got in both the referee and Magnum's face. Shane was prepared here and used his array of suplexes to weaken the champion. Oddly, a back suplex pinned Magnum but it looks like both men's shoulders were on the mat. Claudio Castignoli d. Kenny Jay, Claudio rebounded from his earlier loss to Dr. Death here. Using several of his deadly forearms setting up the RICOLA BOMB. Red Lyons d. Dave Taylor's New Blood sidekick Steve Regal with a FIGURE-FOUR. Lyons leglock is a lethal weapon but it could net him the TV title. TV Champion Dave Taylor d. Red Bastien in another mat clinic. Taylor looks sharp in his title matches as he used the BRITISH SUPLEX to setup a Dragon Sleeper for the win here. Dark Match 2: NO-DQ, Jim Brunzell d. Paul Ellering Dark Match 3: Abdullah The Butcher, Ox Baker & Killer Kowalski d. Bruiser Brody, Sandman and Bull Curry. Abdullah "butchered" Brody here and used a possible loaded elbow for the SUDANESE MEAT CLEAVER pin. This wild brawl proved it is not over for any of these six men.

WWGP 18 - Legends Sports Arena for Superstar Pro Wrestling Dark Match 1: DDP & Tiger Conway, Jr. d. Tully Blanchard & JJ Dillon when JJ missed a turnbuckle charge and Tiger quickly cradled him for the fast win. Abdullah The Butcher d. George South after a choke and a MEAT CLEAVER elbow. The Sandman & Bull Curry d. Ox Baker and Killer Kowalski after a WHITE RUSSIAN LEG DROP on Baker. The Ox was distracted by the presence of Hawk and Animal who got called out before the match. Baker and Kowalski beat The Warriors for a tag-team title before and said the Road Wimps are running scared. Hawk and Animal were right there for the challenge. TV Champion Dave Taylor W, DQ over Claudio Castignoli. Cloudy finish for a Taylor match as a special British Empire Rules rematch is signed. Jim Brunzell d Jake Milliman with a HIGH FLYING DROPKICK. Brunzell looked primed for his upcoming WWGP title shot against Shane Douglas. Steve Williams d. Magnum TA with an OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE. Ted Dibiase helped Doc double-team the former champion but Barry Windham made the save to prevent serious injury. The Heenan Family, Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens won the titles from Tag-Team Champions Butch & Luke in a NO-DQ match! Heenan says "his family will restore dignity to the tarnished title belts after the belts are thoroughly sanitized and steam-cleaned of course." DDP d. JJ Dillon with a Diamond Dream. Red Bastien d. Steve Regal by COR after a sunset flip off the ropes almost pinned Regal. Mr. Electricity charged Bastien but missed and flew out of the ring. Regal walked out of the match. WWGP Champion Shane Douglas d. Jim Brunzell to retain the title after 2 Gourd Busters and a PITTSBURGH PLUNGE. Douglas grabbed the mike before the bout and told the crowd that hack referee Morgan Dollar does not have the authority to throw Francine out of any more of his title matches. Douglas cited the injunction his attorney, H.Q. Robbins has against such actions. Dark Match 2: Abdullah the Butcher and Bruiser Brody fought to a DDQ. Brody was bloodied again but the Butcher's blood thirst made him even more vicious. Standard rules may not contain the action for these two men. Dark Match 3: Unsanctioned Chain Grudge Match. WWGP officials waived suspensions, etc. to allow Johnny Mantell to face his archrival Alexis Smirnoff in a Russian Chain Match. This backfired on the cowboy as a HEART PUNCH ended the match cleanly.

WWGP # 19 - Legends Sports Arena Opener: Al Snow WDQ over Steve Corino, great action mired by an Extreme finish with Corino using Snow's mannequin head to get out of some trouble! Match of the Year Candidate as Claudio Castignoli d. TV Champion David Taylor to win the title under British Empire Rules, 6-round bout. The match took an entire episode of Superstar Pro Wrestling. Round 1 - A DDQ in the first round underscored the tension of this bout (Both men with 0-0-1) Round 2 - Claudio took a lead with a Bicycle Kick to the floor, COR (1 round won-0 rounds lost and 1 draw) Round 3 - A deathjump press gave Claudio his 2nd round (2-0-1) at the midway point of the match. Round 4 - Mike Lano got in the way in this round, forcing a DQ for Claudio and Taylor's first fall (2-1-1). The champ needed to win the last two falls to beat Claudio and retain. Round 5 - Claudio rallied in this round staving off a vicious attack by Taylor. Taylor used a flagpole to force a DQ, clearly trying to injure his challenger (3-1-1 for Claudio). Round 6 - The back and forth continued but the time limit expired and Claudio walked away with the gold. Final score 3-1-2 for Claudio who celebrates as the broadcast concludes. The world was buzzing on the big match from the last episode as the World TV Title truly has an international flavor with first England's Taylor and now the Swiss Castignoli holding the gold. STEEL CAGE, Barry Windham got a measure of revenge against Ted Dibiase after repeatedly slamming Ted's face into the cage and walking out victoriously! STEEL CAGE, Bruiser Brody d. Wild Match as a confused Butcher still wanted to continue the fight after Brody left the cage.
What a card for #20 and the BIG VENTI! Shane Douglas sits atop of the wrestling heap but has fierce competition from all areas including TV Champion Claudio, Barry Windham and even Jim Brunzell. The Heenan Family rules the roost in the tag-team division but will former champions the Midnight Express ever get a rematch?

(Other matches determined by order of elimination with the first man eliminated with no match! Tyler Black was eliminated first by Steve Regal).
Bull Curry d. Justin Credible with the ALLIGATOR CLUTCH
Al Snow d. Steve Corino with the SNOW PLOW
TV Champion Claudio d. Steve Regal , DQ. Claudio laid in a RICOLA BOMB but David Taylor interfered breaking up the pin.
Tiger Conway Jr. d. Superfly Snuka with a FLYING HEAD BUTT. Conway earns another surprise victory!
Tully Blanchard and DDP fought to a DDQ draw.
Barry Windham d. Magnum TA with a Power Slam in a great match.
Bruiser Brody d. Bryan Danielson after a One-Handed Slam.
Jim Brunzell WDQ over the Sandman as he went extreme and used his CANE after a few minutes of actual wrestling! Sandman held his head after letting his instincts take over.
Ted Dibiase d. David Taylor with a FIST DROP.
WWGP Champion Shane Douglas (with Francine) WDQ over Steve Williams. Tempers flared and things got out of hand as Doc tried to capture the big belt.
What a way to determine a top contender, with that special battle royal... Rumors are swirling about a large influx of talent negotiating with WWGP officials, with many close to terms on agreements. Under those circumstances, matchmakers are moving contenders into the lineups to get the best match-ups. Those who can stand up the competition will stick around for the additions and those who struggle may seek other opportunities.
Stay tuned for more big matches, see you at ringside!

WWGP #22, Legends Sports Arena.
Dark Match: Tully Blanchard (w/ JJ Dillon) d. Barry Windham after a sunset flip off the ropes
Killer Kowalski d. Jake Milliman and Kenny Jay in a Handicap Match. Jay fell to a CLAW while Milliman was counted out after a slam to the concrete. Kowalski seemed fired up here.
Triangle Elimination Tag-Team Match with a title match to the winners: The Perfect Legends (w/Sherri Martel) d. The Midnight Express (w/Jim Cornette) and The Bushwhackers.
Larry Zbyszko used a PILEDRIVER on Luke in the first elimination.
Curt Hennig d. Bobby Eaton with a Running Knee Lift from the blindside to earn the title shot!
Bill Apter of the Wrestling News interviewed The Perfect Legends and Sherri Martel after the commercial break following the final decision. Hennig claimed the Legends are Bockwinkel and Stevens worst nightmare as they know all the tricks of the Heenan Family. Larry Zbyszko piped in that has-beens like Stevens and Bockwinkel are on borrowed time and are more suited to hanging out in a bowling alley then defending the titles. Sherri warned Heenan not to get in the way to a Legends victory. Apter had to cut them off and signed off the show as their egos had each of them talking over the other.
TV Champion Claudio d. Jim Brunzell. Brunzell was game but three gut wrench German Suplexes setup a lethal RICOLA BOMB to wrap up this title defense.
Tag-Team Champions Bockwinkel and Stevens (with Bobby Heenan) d. The Perfect Legends (w/Sherri Martel). A great bout but the champs held on and used a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER to beat Hennig.
Al Snow d. George South to finish the broadcast in a stand-by match.
Dark Matches: Cane is Legal: The Sandman d. Justin Credible
First Blood: Abdullah The Butcher d. Bruiser Brody. JJ Dillon factored in the decision as he is now advising Abdullah while the Butcher provides the manager with protection from all the "riff-raff" in WWGP.

WWGP #23 The Super Macho Men (Randy Savage and Superfly Snuka) d. The Conways. Sherri Martel came to the ring and challenged the Conways to a match with her new team, the "Super Macho Men". Sherri claimed her last team were not real men and she only manages real men.
Battle of Underdogs for TV Title Match: Wild Bill wdq. Rock Riddle Tully Blanchard with JJ Dillon wdq. Barry Windham. Windham grabbed JJ's shoe and used it in retaliation on Tully, but the ref only saw Barry use the object.
TV Champion Claudio d. Wild Bill after an uppercut and then a RICOLA BOMB.
Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase time limit draw with David Taylor and Steve Regal. A hard hitting mat clinic hit the time limit as both teams kept things on the mat.
WWGP Champion Shane Douglas with Francine d. DDP. DDP hit the Diamond Dream and also nearly captured the fall but Shane rallied back and used a Piledriver coming off the ropes. A hook of the tights later and we had a successful title defense.
Dark Matches Barbed Wire: Sandman d. Justin Credible in a bloody brawl with Sandman using a DDT on a Weapon for the pin.
Best of Three Falls: Al Snow d. Steve Corino. Corino won the first fall after 3 Super Kicks and an OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION Snow used a SMASH WITH HEAD to even the match and then Corino was DQ'd after a wild ringside brawl.
Street Fight Handicap Bruiser Brody d. Abdullah The Butcher and JJ Dillon. Dillon wisely stayed on the apron as Abdullah and Brody engaged in a blood bath (surprise - haha!). A JUMPING KNEE DROP mercifully ended this one.

WWGP #24 Stan Hansen returned from his suspension back at War Games to steam roll Kenny Jay. Hansen claimed he was mowing down geeks overseas as his vacation!
TV Champion Claudio d. Sandman as the hardcore icon is sometimes too extreme for WWGP. A WHITE RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP with a CANE ended this match prematurely.
WWGP Champion Shane Douglas with Francine d. Al Snow after a BELLY TO BELLY. Shane Douglas, had his legal team led by H.Q. Robbins to exercise a special clause and use troubleshooting ref Bill Alfonso to call things "down the middle". Fans were skeptical of this announcement and this was proven true as Fonzie favored the champion at some spots during the match.
The Flying Tigers - Jim Brunzell and Tiger Conway, Jr. d. Steve Corino and Justin Credible as a FLYING HEAD BUTT kept Tiger and Brunzell in the win column. The winners each are on a hot streak and their team looks dynamite.
Tiger Conway, Sr. d. Killer Kowalski after a Dropkick, setup a Deathjump and ended with a TWIST/HEAD BUTT. The Conways have impressed so far.
The Super Macho Men with Sherri d. Tag-Team Champions Bockwinkel and Stevens (with Bobby Heenan) to win the titles! A Vaulting Neck Snap stunned Bockwinkel as The Family was a step slower at points and could not keep up with the raw speed and agility of Savage and Snuka.
A post-match scene had Heenan berate Stevens as the broadcast went off the air. One could hear Heenan blame Stevens for losing "my belts." Stay tuned on how this impacts the title picture!
Dark Matches: Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase d. David Taylor and Steve Regal. Another mat clinic as Williams downed Taylor after a Doctor Bomb.
Taped-Fist: Barry Windham d. Tully Blanchard.
Loser-Leave WWGP, Barbed Wire: Bruiser Brody d. Abdullah The Butcher Not much flash, but plenty of flesh and brutality as each man pummeled the other in the barbed wire. A JUMPING KNEE DROP sent the Butcher packing as he was severely injured from the blood loss in this war. An official press release stated that the Butcher would not receive medical clearance for at least 30 days even without the Loser-Leaves stipulation.
