SuperBrawl at New York City
Tag-Team Action: James Gang and The Samoan Swat Team (with Lou Albano) wrestled to a Double-DQ.
Intercontinental Television Title Ladder Match: Tom Prichard b. Champion Chris Candido. Candido and Prichard struggled on top of the ladder and knocked the belt to the mat. Both men scrambled with Prichard grabbing the title to become the new champion.
Fighting Spirit Wrestling Championship, 2 referees with a special female referee Ida Mae Martinez to prevent Cherie from interfering: Champion Tiger Mask def. Gorgeous George by DQ. Ida Mae ejected Cherie from ringside and George constantly jawed with Ida Mae throughout the match. George used Cherie’s atomizer to prompt a DQ.
SLAM Tag-Team Championship, Best-of-Three Falls: Champions Flying Redheads def. Jim Cornette’s Midnight Express in a rematch from Saturday Night Special! Two straight falls went to the champions as Lyons used a SLEEPER HOLD on Eaton and Lane was caught using Jim Cornette’s racket on Bastien in Fall Two to end the match. Cornette pitched a fit after the match, claiming that this is not the last they will hear from the Midnights! The SLAM Championship Committee may think otherwise as they were already discussing the next challengers.
SLAM World Championship: Heenan Family Member, Harley Race def. Champion Ted Dibiase, DQ. The Heenan Family came for revenge and tried every dirty trick in the book to derail Dibiase. Heenan even tossed in Dibiase’s title belt to Race, but Dibiase intercepted it and used it on Race instead! The referee disqualified Dibiase for this infraction, but Race tried to get a measure of revenge post-match. Dibiase turned the tables with an assist from his partner Steve Williams and ending up bloodying Race badly until referees and security broke up this altercation.
SuperBrawl, 30-man Rumble including: Timber and Pepper Gomez started the match followed by Ivan Koloff, Superfly Snuka, Sabu, Justin Credible, Antonio Inoki, Bruiser Brody, Diamond Dallas Page, Rick Rude, Bobo Brazil, Jimmy Valiant, Koko Ware, Crusher, Angelo Mosca, The Mountie, Belgian Brawler, The Sheik, SD Jones, Ray Stevens, Don Muraco, Steve Williams, Cousin Luke, Jim Duggan, Bob Armstrong, Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig, Larry Hennig, Giant Baba, Brad Armstrong and Nick Bockwinkel (drew from numbers 21-30 due to being the last champion)…
Highlights included Belgian Brawler lasting the longest of all men, Rick Rude blindsiding Bruiser Brody to eliminate him early, and GIANT BABA eliminating six men including a memorable showdown with Steve Wlliams to win Superbrawl!!!!
Giant Baba WINNER and number one contender for the SLAM Championship at Legends Fever in Tampa, Florida!

SLAM at Providence, RI
The Mountie def. George South
Kip James draw Samoan Alofa (with Lou Albano)
Four-Corners Match for Intercontinental Title Match on the next Saturday Night Special. Jim Duggan def. Angelo Mosca, Ivan Koloff and Diamond Dallas Page. Page was DQ’d when Koloff used his chain on DDP, but placed the chain in Page’s hand to look like Page used the chain on Ivan. Koloff eventually was DQ’d for choking Duggan with the chain, but Duggan rallied to pin Mosca with a running clothesline. Mosca’s rival and Duggan’s ally Steve Williams chased Bobby Heenan from ringside. Mosca was distracted and Hacksaw rallied to win the match and a title shot against Curt Hennig!
Sabu def. Jushin Liger with a hurricanrana in an exciting battle.
Abdullah Farouk challenged The Flying Redheads to a tag-team title defense against his team: Sabu and The Sheik. Farouk claims that these men have been victims of discrimination and deserve a chance to regain the tag-team belts. Red Bastien agreed to a title defense at the next Saturday Night Special from Philadelphia!
Dr. Death Steve Williams def. Virgil, DQ. Williams chief rival Angelo Mosca made his presence felt by interfering in this match and costing Virgil the decision as he pounded on Williams a few minutes into the match. Williams and Mosca brawled to the locker room.
Giant Baba and Jimmy Snuka def. Curt and Larry Hennig, COR wild match ended with Snuka headbutting Curt out of the ring on top of his father.
Bruiser Brody def. Mil Mascaras, DQ. Mascaras surprisingly got out of control slamming Brody into the guard rails at ringside. Fight fire with fire I suppose.
Next SLAM Card emanates from Hershey, PA and includes a preview for Saturday Night Special.

SLAM at Hershey, PA
Jim Duggan def. Larry Sharpe, COR. The #1 Contender to the Intercontinental Championship was too much for the Pretty Boy as Sharpe fled the ring after repeated clotheslines from the Hacksaw. Sharpe has not had much luck in the ring since his manager’s license was suspended nationwide.
Nick Bockwinkel (with Bobby Heenan) def. George South, BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER. The former champion called out current SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase and Ted obliged! Bockwinkel and Heenan attacked the champ to avenge stablemate Harley Race’s injury from Super Brawl!
Cousin Luke def. Timber, dodged a corner charge and used a two-fisted sledgehammer to continue his surprise winning streak.
The Armstrongs def. Magnificent Muraco and The Mountie (with Oliver Humperdink), DQ. The Mountie used his SHOCK STICK on the arena floor on Brad to end the match abruptly. The Armstrongs are building an intense rivalry with the House of Humperdink.
Samu (with Lou Albano) def. Bruiser Brody, DQ. Mild upset by DQ as Brody attacked everyone with a chain: Samu, Albano and the referee!
Rick Rude (with Lou Albano) def. Koko Ware, RUDE AWAKENING. Rude with his finisher out of nowhere to earn a fast victory.
Fighting Spirit Champion Tiger Mask and Chris Candido def. Intercontinental TV Champion Tom Prichard (with Jim Cornette) and Gorgeous George (with Cherie). George miscalculated a corner charge on Tiger Mask and fell victim to a TIGER-SUPLEX to end this tag-team match between FSW and IC-TV champions and contenders.
SLAM Officials announced the first-ever SLAM Women’s title will be determined in a round-robin tournament. The contestants will be Ida Mae Martinez, Ms. Denucci from New Jersey and Sherri Martel. The first match between Martinez and Denucci will be held at Saturday Night Special with the second match held in Boston, MA featuring Sherri Martel and Denucci. The third match will feature Martel and Martinez with the lady earning the most victories claiming the gold!
Angelo Mosca and Steve Williams continued their rivalry with a great match here in Hershey. Mosca need two SLEEPERS after hitting Dr. Death with TWO Big Nasty Elbow Drops. Williams ended the match with EIGHT tokens. These two former footballers have battled in singles and tag-team matches with their head-to-head encounters bringing the fans to their feet. SLAM officials may need to consider a special match to determine the better man in this rivalry.

SLAM Saturday Night Special at Philadelphia, PA
The night began with TWO non-televised matches as Angelo Mosca def. George South using his SLEEPER and Steve Willams def. Larry Sharpe, COR after a lariat. Sharpe has not been pinned in awhile, but prefers to get going when things get too hot for him!!
Televised Matches: Women’s Title Round-Robin #1: Ida Mae Martinez def. Tracy Denucci, DROPKICK. Martinez moves to 1-0 in this tournament and Denucci stands at 0-1 headed to her showdown with Sherri Martel in Boston.
Bruiser Brody def. Rick Rude, JUMPING KNEE DROP. Brody had Rude beat with a piledriver until Albano distracted the referee’s count. Brody chased Albano away and polished Rude off upon his return from chasing the Captain. Brody looked dominant.
Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig def. Jim Duggan. Excellent matchup as Duggan and Hennig each had their chances to nail down the title, but Hennig used a back body drop and a rolling neck snap to get the flash pin. The competitiveness of this match forced SLAM officials to announce a scheduled rematch before the show went off the air. Grudge Match as SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase def. Harley Race, FIGURE-FOUR LEGLOCK. Another awesome matchup saw Dibiase stay out of trouble after TWO tokens and wear down Race with a total of SEVEN tokens. Race’s manager Bobby Heenan protested the decision, but really had nothing to base his complaints on. Dibiase will face #1 Contender and SuperBrawl winner Giant Baba at Legends Fever!
Tag-Team Champions Flying Redheads def. Sabu and Sheik (with Abdullah Farouk), DQ as Sabu used an Arabian Face Buster on Bastien, splitting him open. The referee had enough of Sabu and Sheik’s “hardcore” tactics and called for the bell. The referee also is looking to levy a fine or suspension on Farouk’s men.
The champions will defend the titles at Legends Fever against the winners of a one-night tournament in Boston. The complete seedings of this tournament will be announced at the next SLAM event in Uncasville, Connecticut! SLAM OFFICIALS revealed that 16-teams will be entered as there is a $10,000 entry fee per team. Due to their Championship Status, the Flying Redheads are named the #1 seeds and their fee is anted by SLAM, plus a $50,000 bonus which brings the prize money to $200,000 “Winners-take-all”.
Magnificent Muraco (with Oliver Humperdink) def. Koko Ware, TWO HAWAIIAN HAMMERS. Muraco dominated the Birdman and wanted to make an example of the high-flyer on national as the broadcast went off the air!
Non-Televised Feature Matches: Giant Baba def. Larry Hennig, NECKBREAKER DROP
Ivan Koloff (with Lou Albano) def. Diamond Dallas Page. Rick Rude interfered, but Bruiser Brody assisted Page in running them off!! Brody and Page would make an exciting combo in the upcoming tag-team tournament. To further fuel the fire, clips of this match were shown on Brody and Rude’s earlier match due to the magic of video tape
Steve Williams def. Angelo Mosca (with Bobby Heenan), OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE. Williams continues his rivalry with Mosca with a victory over the former Canadian Footballer.
Texas Tornado Tag-Team Match: James Gang def. Lou Albano’s Samoan Swat Team, when Kip used a STANDING LEG DROP on Alofa.

SLAM at Uncasville, CT
Jim Cornette’s Midnight Express def. The Armstrongs, SUPERKICK on Brad. This Southern Rivalry hit the SLAM rings as Lane and Eaton attempted to injure Brad after the match. B.G. James hit of the James Gang hit the ring and stuck up for his family. The Armstrongs used Cornette’s racket on Lane injuring him severely! This may affect the status of the Midnight Express in the upcoming tag-team tournament.
Fighting Spirit Champion Tiger Mask def. Savage-T, after FLYING PRESS ATTACK in a non-title match.
IC-TV Champion Tom Prichard (with Jim Cornette) def. Cousin Luke, slingshot suplex after double-clothesline with Prichard and Eaton. Prichard used nefarious tactics with stable-mate Bobby Eaton to end Cousin Luke’s winning streak.
SLAM Officials announced the Seedings for the $200,000 March to Glory Tournament in Boston:
Bracket 1 Matches #1 Seed and Tag-Team Champions Flying Redheads vs. #16 – SD Jones and Koko Ware
#8 – Giant Baba and Jim Duggan vs. #9 – Sabu and Sheik
#4 – Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens vs. #13 – The Armstrongs
#5 – The Road Warriors vs. #12 – Bobby Eaton and IC-TV Champion Tom Prichard
Bracket 2 Matches #2 Seeds – SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams vs. #15 – Samoan Swat Team

#3 - Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page vs. #14 – The Mongols
#6 – Rick Rude and Ivan Koloff vs. #11 – James Gang
The ratings were compiled in conjunction with SLAM Competition Committee and Bill Apter of the Wrestling News.
Bruiser Brody def. Ivan Koloff, DQ. Albano instructed Koloff to attack Brody at bell using the chain, a kneedrop and choking him with a chain earned a DQ. Albano with Koloff and Rick Rude really are raising Brody’s famous temper!!
SLAM Officials repeated the seedings and previewed the tournament through highlights. Tracy Denucci and Sherri Martel continue the Women’s Round-Robin in Boston as well…
Magnificent Muraco and The Mountie (with Oliver Humperdink) def. George South and Larry Sharpe. Sharpe kept his “unbeaten” streak as South fell victim to Muraco’s HAWAIIAN HAMMER. Humperdink was asked why this team is not in the big tournament and he grumbled a “No Comment”.
Chris Candido def. Gorgeous George, BLONDE BOMB. Former IC-TV champion notched an impressive win as he tries to return to contention in the competitive SLAM environment.
Giant Baba and Jim Duggan draw with The Hennigs, Duggan was working on The Axe at the bell as Hacksaw was the only person in the match without a token! Best-Of-Three Falls Tag-Team Main Event: SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams def Angelo Mosca and Harley Race (with Bobby Heenan). Race was injured so Mosca carried most of the match for his team, which was fine by him as King Kong loves to wrestle Dr. Death! Be careful what you wish for as Williams hit the OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE on Mosca to take the first fall. Williams look set to finish off Mosca early in the second fall, but Race made the save. Dibiase intercepted and then teamed with the Doctor for a double-lariat and a pin on Mosca to win this big match!

SLAM “March To Glory” $200,000 Tag-Team Tournament at Boston, Mass.
Teams anted up $10,000 apiece with the stake for the tag-team champions put up by SLAM with an additional $40,000 prize money!
Round One: #1 Seeds Champions Flying Redheads def. #16- SD Jones and Koko Ware, Lyons SLEEPER HOLD on Ware to advance.
#4- Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens (with Bobby Heenan) DDQ with #13- The Armstrongs as the Bullet and Ray Stevens brawled in and out of the ring, eliminating both teams.
#5 - Road Warriors (with Paul Ellering) def. #12 -Jim Cornette’s “Makeshift” Express as IC-TV Champion Tom Prichard subbed for Stan Lane with Bobby Eaton. Animal pinned Eaton, DOOMSDAY DEVICE as Prichard never tagged in. Cornette and Eaton did not seem to happy with Prichard’s performance as he never tagged in. Perhaps he was concerned about his singles title more than the possibility of punishment.
#8- Giant Baba and Jim Duggan DDQ with #9- Sabu and Sheik (with Abdullah Farouk).Wild brawl as both teams were eliminated and Sheik threw his fire after Farouk got involved. There was fire, 2x4’s and chairs in the ring when this one finished!
#2 Seed- SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams time-limit draw with #15 -Samoan Swat Team. The third match of the round where both teams were eliminated.
#3 Bruiser Brody and Diamond Dallas Page def. #14 -The Mongols (with Lou Albano). Brody takes the Mongols finisher, but rallies to pin Bepo with a dropkick! Page never tagged in during this fast match! Albano fired the Mongols promptly as he claimed that they weren’t the money he paid Humperdink for this slot!! This explained why Humperdink’s team of Magnificent Muraco and The Mountie did not enter the tournament.
#6 –Rick Rude and Ivan Koloff (with Lou Albano) def. James Gang. Rude Top Rope Sledgehammer on B.G and used several “Koloff-assisted” backbreakers in a post-match attack until Kip and the Armstrongs saved B.G from further injury. Not a good tournament for the Armstrong clan.
#10 – The Hennigs def. #7- Kangaroos, DQ due to Red Berry’s interference with his cane. Intercontinental Champion Curt and his father Larry looked sharp against Australia’s best!
Quarterfinals The only match in this round due to the draw and two DDQ’s was Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page versus Brody’s rivals: The Albano-managed Rick Rude and Ivan Koloff! Emotions ran high here as Page and Rude have a long history, plus Rude and Koloff have raised the ire of Bruiser Brody recently. Brody started and finished the match and ended the match surprisingly fast with a JUMPING KNEE DROP on Koloff to advance to the Semis! Page has not wrestled in this tournament.
SLAM officials announced a bonus match since there is only one quarterfinal. The match will spotlight two light-heavyweight contenders Chris Candido and Jushin Liger!!
Bonus Match: Jushin Liger def. Chris Candido, BRAINBUSTER. Both men hit and missed suicide dives, but Candido’s miss proved to be the end as Liger hit the BRAINBUSTER for the win. A standing ovation to both men ended this crowd-pleasing match.
Women’s Title Round-Robin: Tracy Denucci (1-1) def. Sherri Martel (0-1), NEW JERSEY JAM after Martel missed a plancha in this upset. Ida Mae can wrap up the championship with a victory over Martel at Legends Fever in Tampa! If Martel beats Ida Mae, Sherri must beat Denucci in a fourth match (TBA) to win the title!
Tag-Team Tournament FINAL FOUR Semifinal 1: Road Warriors def. Champions Flying Redheads, COR. Hawk hit a power bomb on the concrete forcing Lyons to be counted-out. The Legion of Doom get a chance at $200,000!
Semifinal 2: Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page versus The Hennigs. Page finally tagged in, but did not see much action as the Hennigs used their family ties to corner Brody. Brody rallied and bloodied Curt and finished him with JUMPING KNEE DROP. Page is the freshest person in the tournament as he barely locked up against the Hennigs and Brody breezed through the first two rounds. Can Brody and Page get the upset against Hawk and Animal??
$200,000 Championship Finals: Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page def. Road Warriors with a JUMPING KNEE DROP on Animal. Page and Brody showed great teamwork and beat the Warriors at their own game. If there was a trophy for MVP of this tournament Brody would win it as he dominated. Brody and Page win the tournament, money, trophies and a tag-team title match at Legends Fever in Tampa!!
Stay tuned for future SLAM cards and the complete Legends Fever lineup. Here are the current rankings as we sign-off from the Boston Broadcast:
