SLAM – Legends FEVER at Tampa, Florida
Jushin Liger b. Bobby Eaton (with Jim Cornette), roll-through on a body block from ropes.
Belgian Brawler b. Cousin Luke, Belgian body slam
Bullet Bob and Brad Armstrong b. Rick Rude and Ivan Koloff (with Lou Albano). Rude and Koloff were chock full of miscommunications and miscues and Brad took advantage with an ironic Russian leg sweep on Rude for the win. Koloff and Rude had to be separated by Albano and each walked to the locker room alone. Could this be the end of this short-lived team?
Ladies Championship, Round-Robin #3: Ida Mae Martinez (2-0) b. Sherri Martel (0-2), DQ after a wild brawl outside the ring ended with Sherri using the title belt on Martinez.
Falls Count Anywhere: Shiek and Sabu (with Abdullah Farouk) b. Bobo Brazil and Chris Candido, Extreme Brawl spilled into the locker rooms and stands ended when Sheik threw Brazil into a wall pinning his old rival.
Intercontinental Championship: Curt Hennig b. Jim Duggan, Hennig used the sleeper to capture the rematch with Hacksaw.
Last Man Standing: “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (+7) b. “King Kong” Angelo Mosca (+10). Mosca’s manager Bobby Heenan was barred from ringside in the match of the night and early “Match of the Year” candidate. Williams looked like he was on his way to an early win with a devastating Backdrop Driver drilled Mosca, with big Angelo tumbling from the ring busting him open in the process. King Kong rallied and got Doc in trouble with two power Big Nasty Elbow Smashes, that Williams took Mosca’s full weight and a loaded elbow pad. Dr. Death wiped the blood from his face and enraged at the sight of the life-giving fluid, rallied feverishly with an OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE and a powerful dropkick. This salvo sent Mosca to the floor a second time, but this time could not beat the 10-count and Williams was victorious.
Dream Tag-Team Match: Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens (with Bobby Heenan) b. Hawk and Animal (with Paul Ellering). Bockwinkel and Stevens fell victim to a brutal double-team attack early in the match with Heenan interrupting the broadcast booth mentioning that Mosca would have won the last match if the Brain was their to guide him. Heenan may have had a point as he left the booth soon as his team was in trouble and got his squad back in the match. Stevens polished off Animal with a BOMBS AWAY to win this battle of “Hall of Famers”.
Double-Title Challenge: Intercontinental Television Champion Tom Prichard (with Jim Cornette) b. FSW Champion Tiger Mask, COR. Cornette was a huge factor in this as Tiger Mask was in total control, until he distracted Tiger. The FSW Champion uncharacteristically became unglued and chased Cornette to the back, but in the process lost the match (but not his title) in the process.
SLAM Tag-Team Title Match: March to Glory champions Bruiser Brody and Diamond Dallas Page b. SLAM Champions Flying Redheads to win the titles!!! Both teams showed great resilience in great match (which will probably be overshadowed by the earlier Last Man Standing match) as each team broke up two near pinfalls each. DDP thought he had the match won by hitting the DIAMOND CUTTER out of a Bastien ATOMIC DROP, but Lyons saved the day. Brody’s size was too much to handle as he wore down Lyons and finished the match with a JUMPING KNEE DROP.
The Crusher b. Magnificent Muraco (with Oliver Humperdink), CRUSHER BOLO. Mild upset in this match with folks anticipating the exciting main event….
SLAM Championship Title Match: Champion Ted Dibiase b. Superbrawl Champion Giant Baba. The main event was anticlimactic as Dibiase augmented his mat skill with some roughhouse brawling to keep Baba off-balance. The match spilled outside the ring several times with Dibiase gaining the edge by punching Baba after the Japanese giant stuck his head between the ropes to drag Dibiase back in. The champion used his BLACK GLOVE to smash Baba and roll him up for the pinfall.
Please join us for the aftermath of Fever with a SLAM TV episode from Hollywood, Florida’s Hard Rock Casino Arena! How will SLAM be affected by the fallout from Fever? This question and many more will be answered on the next episode of SLAM TV!

SLAM TV at Hollywood, Florida
Rick Rude opened the show with a tirade on the happenings at Fever. He said Koloff was not ready for such a big match and cost him the match! He is going solo just for tonight, but the ball is in Koloff’s and Albano’s court on where we go from here.
Rick Rude b. Cousin Luke, after TWO RUDE AWAKENINGS! Rude took his frustrations on the unsuspecting hillbilly!
Non-Title Match: Jushin Liger b. Intercontinental Champion, Curt Hennig, LIGER DIVE. Liger was a surprise opponent for Hennig and his aerial tactics gained an upset win. Will this performance earn Liger a title shot against Curt?
SLAM Officials announced that due to the events at Fever, The Double-Title Challenge between Fighting Spirit Champion Tiger Mask and IC-TV Champion Tom Prichard will be tonight, but will be contested in a Steel Cage Match to keep Jim Cornette from interfering in the outcome of this historic match!! A special tag-team match is also scheduled as Nick Bockwinkel, Ray Stevens will get a match against former champions Sheik, and Sabu as both teams were winners in Fever, this match may have title implications!
Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens (with Bobby Heenan) b. Sheik and Sabu (with Abdullah Farouk), DQ. The match got out of hand quickly as both teams like to get rowdy, but Sheik got too rambunctious and the referee halted the match after the Syrian terror choked Bockwinkel with a television cable!
Steel Cage Match for Double-Titles: Fighting Spirit Champion Tiger Mask unified the Intercontinental Television championship by defeating Tom Prichard. Prichard thought he had an advantage he and Cornette stated in an earlier interview that Tiger Mask’s aerial tactics would not work by him coming off the cage like some bad Japanese cartoon. Their prediction was wrong as Tiger Mask flew at Prichard from every angle and used a TIGER SUPLEX to stun Prichard allowing Tiger to walk out the cage.
An update on the title situations in SLAM and news on big upcoming event scheduled for Toronto.
Second Episode (taped for viewing next week)
Dr. Death Steve Williams b. Belgian Brawler, OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE. Doc started slow due to the wear & tear from his match with Mosca, but overpowered Mr. Dupa for the win.
Larry Zbyszko b. Larry Hennig, PILEDRIVER and Death jump body press. The Legend pinned the Ax and called out the Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig saying that he beat his “protector” and that his track record should earn him a title shot! There was no response, so Larry cheap-shotted Larry Hennig. Curt rushed to ringside to help his father and chased Zbyzsko away before he could do anymore damage! Curt grabbed the mike and yelled “Larry does this answer your question”?
The Crusher b. Magnificent Muraco (with Oliver Humperdink), CRUSHER BOLO. Muraco and Humperdink tried to attack Crusher after the match with nux, but Bob Armstrong rushed to ringside and him and Crusher did a double-team of their own injuring Muraco!! The fans went beszerk!
The Flying Redheads were interviewed and mentioned they are looking forward to a rematch for the tag-team championship. Bobby Heenan came to ringside and said the his team of Bockwinkel and Stevens not only hold a victory over former champions The Sheik and Sabu, but hold a victory over Hawk and Animal who beat the Redheads at March to Glory. Red Bastien said let us settle who the better team is tonight and to bring your team to the ring! Heenan obliged, but only if SLAM officials would allow the match up. The officials did and the match was on after a commercial break…
Flying Redheads b. Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens, after a noggin-knocker after a Stevens attempt to save Bockwinkel from a pinfall attempt! The former champions stayed in contention with this win, but Heenan claimed that this match was never “official” due to the "ad-hoc" matchmaking on this show!
SLAM Officials are going to make an announcement regarding the three singles titles in SLAM. The competition committee did reveal that Curt Hennig accepted the challenge Intercontinental Championship against Larry Zbyzsko, with the match taking place in Buffalo, New York.
The committee also revealed that the tag-team championship will be defended the at next SLAM TV card from Fort Wayne Indiana’s Allen County War Memorial. The title match will be a Fever rematch scheduled for a best-of-three falls between the former champions Red Bastien and Red Lyons and Champions Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page!
Two big announcements regarding the next challenger to Ted Dibiase’s SLAM Championship and the next challenger for Tiger Mask’s Fighting Spirit Wrestling title! See you next time in Fort Wayne!
Arena Main Event, Best-of-Three Falls: SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase and Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig teamed to defeat #1 Contender Giant Baba and #1 I-C Contender Jim Duggan 2-1. Baba pinned Hennig with NECKBREAKER DROP in fall one, with Baba being DQ'd for taking off and using Dibiase's own glove in the second fall. This uncharacteristic move was payback for their brawl at Fever. Baba and Duggan could not keep the momentum as Dibiase pinned Duggan with a 2nd Rope Elbow to wrap the evening up. Good match. Baba would love to get a rematch with Dibiase...
SLAM Champion: Ted Dibiase 1. Giant Baba 2. Crusher 3. Rick Rude 4. Ivan Koloff 5. Jim Duggan
Intercontinental Champion: Curt Hennig 1. Larry Zbyszko 2. Dr. Death Steve Williams 3. Angelo Mosca
Fighting Spirit Champion: Tiger Mask 1. Jushin Liger 2. Tom Prichard 3. Chris Candido
Tag-Team Champions: Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page 1. Flying Redheads 2. Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens 3. Sabu and The Sheik

Fort Wayne, IN Masked Superstar b. George South, SPINNING NECKBREAKER. The Masked Superstar ended the match quickly, but Jim Duggan raced to South’s rescue to save him from a post-match attack from the Superstar.
Danny Hodge draw Pepper Gomez, both men used sleeeper-hold and their finishers to try and gain the win. Time-limit expired before a satisfying conclusion between two light-heavyweight contenders.
Red Bastien and Red Lyons b. Tag-Team Champions Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page, 2-0. Wild finishes to both falls as first Page then Brody were DQ’d. The Redheads win the match but not the titles.
Crusher b. Larry Sharpe, Bearhug. Crusher dominated outside the ring, using his BOLO punch and finished Sharpe with his version of the rib-crushing submission hold.
Bullet Bob Armstrong b. Killer Kowalski, big upset with a Bullet head butt after battling on ringside with the vicious Kowalski.
Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens (with Bobby Heenan) b. Sabu & Sheik (with Abdullah Farouk), DQ. Title shot was on the line as this match was filled with tensions between these notorious rulebreakers as manager and partners got involved. Match ended when Bockwinkel choked Sheik on the ropes, followed by a Stevens BOMBS AWAY. Heenan looked ready to celebrate, but Farouk caused a DQ.
Angelo Mosca b. Jim Duggan, DQ after Hacksaw used his 2 X 4 on Mosca minutes after Heenan got ejected for grabbing the 2 x 4”. After the match, Mosca walked back alone and some sources report Mosca was not happy with the outcome and argued with Heenan for getting over-involved and getting ejected from ringside in his business!
Rick Rude b. Ivan Koloff, RUDE AWAKENING in this battle of former partners and protégés of Lou Albano. Albano was scheduled to be the special referee, but provided a “doctor’s note” advising him to refrain from physical activities until his health problems subside.
Best-of-three falls, Dr. Death Steve Williams b. Giant Baba, 2-1. # 1 Contender for the SLAM Championship Giant Baba faced the champion’s best friend, Steve Williams. Good match with Williams busting open Baba and wearing him down to win the backdrop driver to win fall one. Baba rallied and cut open Doc with chops and a big foot to face. Baba pinned Doc after grinding him down with a bearhug. The last fall ended with a wild brawl that spilled onto the arena floor. Baba grabbed a chair from Doc and slammed him across the back uncharacteristically. Uncommon for his behavior or not the referee DQ’d the Japanese Giant and awarded the match to Williams.
Next SLAM card in Buffalo features Larry Zbyzsko challenging Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig, a powerhouse battle of Steve Williams facing the Crusher and Giant Baba facing tag-team title co-holder Bruiser Brody! Coincidentally, The Crusher is also the assigned referee for the upcoming Ted Dibiase-Giant Baba rematch for the SLAM Championship in Toronto. The entire Toronto card will be announced in Buffalo, including a FSW Title defense and a tag-team title defense. Stay tuned.

Bookerbill,
Thanks for reading as I think the next few cards will heat things up even more. The weight limit for the Fighting Spirit (aka Light-Hwt.) is 229 U.S. pounds as 230 and above is classified as heavyweight. If a contender is borderline I may have him trim weight to vault into contention.

Buffalo,NY Bullet Bob Armstrong b. Rick Rude, DQ when Rude repeatedly slammed the Bullet into the guardrails despite the referee’s warning.
Brad Armstrong b. Tom Prichard, by rolling through a cross body block from Prichard as Brad moves his way into Fighting Spirit title contention.
Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig b. Larry Zbyszko following a running knee lift and a missile dropkick. The Living Legend announced that he hired the best bodyguard money can buy: a Royal Canadian Mountie. A Mountie came to ringside carrying a cattle prod. Zbyszko announced that he is now to be announced as “Larry Legend” and that is why someone of his stature needs the proper protection. The fans responded by chanting “Larry Loser”. Curt called out his father to provide his own protection against “police corruption” and the match finally got underway. Curt’s speed and quickness kept Larry off-balance and the presence of the “Ax” kept The Mountie at bay. Zbyszko complained about the outcome, but it was tough to dispute.
SLAM Championship signing featuring Ted Dibiase and Giant Baba. The Crusher was also on hand as the Special Referee. Dibiase and Baba had to be pulled apart by the Crusher as things got heated as Baba obviously understood the insults hurled at him from Dibiase.
Jushin Liger b. Danny Doring with the BRAINBUSTER and after the match was named the #1 Light-Heavyweight Contender and will receive a Fighting Spirit Title Match in Toronto against Tiger Mask!
Killer Kowalski b. Cousin Luke, Kowalski rebounded from a loss to Bullet Bob with a win here.
The Crusher b. Steve Williams, Crusher Nelson after a wild, ringside brawl. The Crusher sent a message to Ted Dibiase’ close ally with a victory in this hard-hitting match.
Giant Baba b. Tag-Team Title co-holder Bruiser Brody, DQ. Brody went berserk choking Baba against the guard rail and slamming his head into it.
Main Event, Best-of-Three Falls: Ivan Koloff and Angelo Mosca b. SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase and Jim Duggan, 2-1. Duggan was DQ’d for using his board on Mosca then Koloff. Koloff and Duggan were both disqualified for a brawl in the second fall, but the referee told the ring announcer that the match will continue until one of the teams wins two falls. This was surprising since the match was a rough and tumble affair already. Koloff was DQ’d against Dibiase for using the Russian Chain. Dibiase made the tag for the third fall, but Duggan wasted no time in tossing Ivan to the arena floor and slamming his head into the ringpost. The referee stopped the match and awarded the decision to the unlikely team of Koloff and Mosca.
SLAM will be in Toronto Canada for three title matches: 1 . SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase defends against Giant Baba in a Fever rematch, but with the Crusher as Special Referee 2. Tag-Team Champions Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page put the belts on the line in another Fever rematch as the Flying Red Heads try to take home the gold in Red Lyons home province of Ontario. 3. The Fighting Spirit Champion Tiger Mask defends against #1 International Contender Jushin Liger in what should be an exciting high-flying encounter
Other matches signed: Danny Hodge against Pepper Gomez, Jim Duggan faces Angelo Mosca, The Hennigs face Larry Zbyzsko and the Mountie and Dr. Death Steve Williams is matched against Ravishing Rick Rude! Finally, SLAM officials signed a no-dq tag-team match as Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens meet Sabu and The Sheik in what should be a wild one!

Toronto, ONT Killer Kowalski b. SD Jones, KOWALSKI CLAW.
Danny Hodge b. Pepper Gomez, OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL in a short rematch from their time-limit draw in Fort Wayne.
Tag-Team Titles, Best-of-Three Falls: Champions Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page draw Flying Redheads Bastien and Lyons. Bastien was DQ’d for excessive double-teaming on Page, but upset Brody in the second fall with a top rope press. The Redheads controlled the remainder of the bout with Lyons and Bastien hitting a double dropkick on Page off a pin save. Lyons could not take advantage of the home ring advantage, but the Reds were impressive and may be in line for another rematch. Jim Duggan b. Angelo Mosca, bearhug. Mosca announced that Heenan would not be at ringside as King Kong gave him the night off. Perhaps he needed him as Duggan dominated and won the match.
SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase b. Giant Baba with Crusher as Special Referee. Ted Dibiase brought Steve Williams to the match to make sure Crusher doesn’t try any funny business, but Doc wasn’t much of a deterrent as the Champ and Crusher argued frequently with Crusher even punching Dibiase twice! Doc caused enough of a distraction to nullify these brief advantages and Dibiase eventually regained his composure and used the FIGURE-FOUR to win the fall. Crusher and Dibiase eventually brawled to the back with Baba and Doc following suit! Wild finish to a good match. Dibiase did show plenty of guts and stamina to retain the belt.
Tag-Team Grudge Match: “Larry Legend” and The Mountie b. The Hennigs, DQ. The Larry Loser chants picked up in Toronto as these teams fought and excellent heated contest. Curt held the advantage until “Larry Legend” missed a charge on Curt and ran over the referee. Curt continued the assault and had Legend pinned multiple times, but with no official to make the count. Finally, the Mountie used his SHOCK STICK and turned Larry over to pin Curt to win this exciting tag team match.
Jushin Liger b. Fighting Spirit Wrestling Champion Tiger Mask to win the FSW Title. Fast-paced match with many high-risk dives to the outside as Tiger hit one and Liger retaliated with both men being injured. Once inside the ring, Liger hit a rolling Koppo kick and a FISHERMAN’S BUSTER to win belt!
“Larry Legend” held an interview asking for a title shot, but a SLAM spokesman asked Legend to fight his battles in the ring and not the interview table! Larry was irate and challenged anyone out there to a match to prove his superiority.
Dr. Death Steve Williams b. Rick Rude, DQ in a fantastic match which is early competition for Williams’ Match of the Year candidate from Fever against Angelo Mosca. Doc rallied from 6 tokens with a top rope sledgehammer busting him wide open. Williams recovered and powerful dropkick returned the favor to Rude in the process of Rude getting 6 straight tokens. A double-lariat floored both grapplers and then the action spilled to the ringside area. Rude used a chair in frustration and the referee stopped the match at that point and gave the decision to Williams.
No-DQ Tag-Team Match: Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens (with Bobby Heenan) b. Sheik and Sabu (with Abdullah Farouk), Stevens used BOMBS AWAY on Sabu to gain the win. Both managers accompanied their teams, but were sent to the back to “reduce mayhem” as the No-DQ stip was enough for the SLAM commission to allow. Gary Michael Cappetta didn’t even finish the introductions as everything broke loose. Bockwinkel and Stevens upended the former champions and moved up the tag-team contenders ladder.
SLAM hits Glens Falls, New York as Jim Duggan challenges Curt Hennig for the Intercontinental Title in a Fever Rematch. Will the “home-ring” advantage be better for Duggan than it was for Red Lyons in Toronto? Stay tuned. Bobby Heenan continues his “vacation” from Angelo Mosca as King Kong goes up against Killer Kowalski. Bobby Heenan will lead Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens face the Flying Redheads in a Best-Of-Three Falls match. Heenan claims that the Redheads win over Stevens and Bockwinkel in Hollywood, Florida post-fever and this is their chance to prove the fluke!

Glens Falls, NY
Jim Valiant W George South, SLEEPER. Valiant spoke with Bill Apter and was disappointed that the fans did not send any get-well cards during his injury. Apter mentioned that nobody knew how to reach the “Boogie Woogie Man” during his absence. Valiant nodded, but mentioned he was still disappointed winding up this melancholy interview.
Clips of the Jushin Liger’s title win over Tiger Mask in Toronto and left everyone wondering who would be Liger’s first challenger for the Fighting Spirit Title.
The debut of the Machines as Mean Machine and Giant Machine W Mr. X and Dr. No in the battle of masked teams. A third machine was guiding this new team at ringside, and was dubbed Super Machine. The only clues that the Machines have their sites set on the Heenan Family and the Mean Machine and Giant Machine worked well together as they used a double-clothesline after a pin save by Mr. X.
Jim Duggan W, DQ over Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig. Duggan received a title match in his hometown and nearly took home the strap – literally.
Killer Kowalski W Angelo Mosca, KOWALSKI CLAW. Bobby Heenan was not present as he continued his furlough from attending Angelo Mosca’s matches. Will Mosca ask Heenan back since his losing streak without him?
Pepper Gomez W Danny Doring, Wind-up punch to stomach after a wild brawl in this battle of contention between light-heavyweights.
Best-of-three falls tag-team: Flying Redheads TIME-LIMIT DRAW (TLD) with Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens (with Bobby Heenan). In this battle of tag-team title contenders, Ray Stevens used BOMBS AWAY on Lyons to win the first fall. Bastien turned the tables of the match by using a sleeper to beat Bockwinkel to tie the match. Neither team could hold the edge in the last fall and the bell rang when Bockwinkel had Bastien locked up in an abdominal stretch. Good match and Bobby Heenan thought his team won the match!
Larry Hennig WDQ The Mountie after using the SHOCK STICK on the Axe.
Larry Legend W Bob Armstrong, PILEDRIVER after Bob Armstrong got his face slammed into a turnbuckle.
Champions Challenge: SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase and Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig W Tag-Team Champions Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page when Hennig used the HENNIG-PLEX on Page.
SLAM hits Binghamton Rick Rude challenges Dr. Death, Larry The Axe teams with Bob Armstrong against a pair that both men have had troubles with recently: Larry Legend and The Mountie. Bobby Heenan returns to Angelo Mosca’s corner and tries to reverse the fortunes against Killer Kowalski. The main event is a special 18-man battle royal!
Binghamton, NY
SD Jones W Belgian Brawler, HEADBUTT
Mean Machine W Black Bart, HEART PUNCH and two clotheslines.
Jimmy Valiant W George South, Windup Elbow in a rematch from Glens Falls.
Killer Kowalski W Angelo Mosca, as Heenan ignored all pin attempts and never spoke with Mosca. The pair “discussed” things after the match, but walked back to the dressing room together.
Brad Armstrong W Danny Doring after a missile dropkick and a sweeping abdominal stretch for a quick pin.
Larry Hennig and Bob Armstrong W Larry Legend and The Mountie, as Mountie attacked Armstrong from behind with a shock stick.
Steve Williams WDQ, Rick Rude. Williams frustrated the Ravishing One leading to Rude bringing a steel chair in the ring and swung it at Dr. Death! Luckily, Doc dodged the swing and dropkicked the weapon from his grip.
Rick Rude and Bobby Heenan were co-winners of the 18-man battle royal as Rude was announced as the newest member of the Heenan Family. Heenan avoided trouble and was assisted by various allies and he assisted Rude in tossing Steve Williams and even threw out George South and Larry Legend (albeit from the blind-side). Heenan and Rude began the celebration in the ring.
A special Memorial Day weekend card double-header has Erie, PA and Cleveland, OH hosting SLAM action. The Erie card features a Lumberjack Intercontinental Title between Curt Hennig and Jim Duggan and a No-Disqualification Match between Larry Hennig with Bob Armstrong versus The Mountie and Larry Legend. The Main Event will be a Steel Cage Match between Steve Williams and Angelo Mosca as this is Mosca’s last chance to remain in good standing with the Heenan Family.
The Cleveland portion of the doubleheader features SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase versus The Crusher. Dibiase wants the Crusher in the ring as the wrestler who made Milwaukee famous has caused problems for Dibiase as a referee in a match between Dibiase and Giant Baba! The Tag-Team Championship is on the line as a special three-team round-robin between champions Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page and top contenders Flying Redheads and Heenan Family members Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens. The team with the best record at the conclusion of the round-robin will be declared the champions of the world. Bobby Heenan asked his fans not to worry as he will be in attendance for the tag-title tournament and will be in the corner of Rick Rude when he faces Steve Williams. Plus, each city will host some light-heavyweight matches and Cleveland will have four legends in town for this doubleheader: Harley Race meets Mil Mascaras and long-time rivals Magnificent Muraco meets Superfly Snuka. See you at the matches!

The Memorial Day Weekend SLAM Double-header started in Erie, PA.
Pepper Gomez b. Savage-T with a dropkick and airplane spin to win the opener.
Danny Doring b. Danny Hodge in an upset with DANACONDA as the first two matches featured light-heavyweights.
Cousin Luke b. Jimmy Valiant, DQ as Johnny Valiant made his return to wrestling to assist Johnny and Luke fell victim to a classic brutal double-team by the brothers. The Valiants challenged Luke to get a partner and “we’ll do-si-do anytime with you hick!”
Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig b. Jim Duggan in a Lumberjack match with a HENNIG-PLEX. Curt grabbed the mic over this relatively easy win and stated he cannot wait for the “Night of Champions” to show the world what he is capable of!
Superfly Snuka b. Magnificent Muraco in a battle of long-time rivals after a suicide plancha and a power slam. Muraco has seen Snuka’s wild behavior, but nothing like the Suicide-type dives shown here. The Superfly is soaring!
Bobby Heenan was shown on the SLAM-Cam drawing strategy on a chalkboard imploring Mosca to listen and how this is his last chance against rival Steve Williams in the main event cage match.
SD Jones b. Virgil with a Philly Shuffle and 2 straight HEAD BUTTS in a short albeit action-packed slugfest.
The Mountie and Larry Legend b. Larry “Ax” Hennig and “Bullet” Bob Armstrong as Larry Zbyszko used a PILEDRIVER on Bob.
Steel Cage: Steve Williams b. Angelo Mosca, OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE after a dropkick from the side of the cage! Heenan was outraged on the outcome as Mosca was beaten and wobbly, but still made it to the back on his own accord! Gutty performance, as usual by both men.
The Main Event of Night Of Champions from Houston, Texas will be announced in Cleveland along with a special event and two title matches. Stay tuned.
Second part of weekend Double-header from Cleveland, features a SLAM title match, tag-team round-robin and special announcement regarding Night of Champions Supercard!
Brad Armstrong b. Savage-T, RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP
Angelo Mosca b. Black Bart, HEART PUNCH
Steve Williams b. Rick Rude, OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE as Rude’s back was injured and had to be helped to the back. Rude announced that he has joined the Heenan Family as he needs someone watching his affairs and that his first match is replacing that loser Mosca to face the Machines next week in Canton, Ohio.
Tag-Team Round-Robin for SLAM Tag Championship, 1st Leg: Flying Redheads TLD with Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens (w/ Bobby Heenan). Both teams stand at 0-0-1 with the Reds facing Tag-Team Champions Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page. This event was made due to these three teams having an inconclusive finish to every match against each other.
Tiger Mask b. Pepper Gomez, Jumping Spin Kick
SLAM officials announced the Main Event for the Night of Champions in the Houston Astrodome will feature Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig facing the winner of tonight’s main event between SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase and The Crusher. The match will be a best-of-three falls affair with the first fall having Hennig’s IC-title on the line with the winner of the entire match taking home the SLAM Championship. Bill Apter got Curt Hennig’s reaction and Hennig said that this will be the “Perfect opportunity for him to show the world what he has been saying for months; he is absolutely Perfect”.
Tag-Team Round-Robin for SLAM Tag Championship, 2nd Leg: Champions Brody and Page DDQ with Flying Redheads. Redheads stand at 0-0-2 and Brody and Page are tied with Bockwinkel and Stevens with 0-0-1 records with these teams facing each other in the 3rd leg of this round-robin.
Special Challenge: Harley Race b. Mil Mascaras following 2 consecutive shoulder-breakers in this battle of two former LWF World Champions.
SLAM Officials announced two more title matches for Houston’s Night of Champions: Women’s Champion Ida Mae Martinez will defend against Sensational Sherri and FSW Champion Jushin Liger will give Tiger Mask his rematch. The fourth title match will feature the tag-team championship with a decision rendered later tonight on stipulations and contestents. Finally, a special event featuring eight top superstars will round out the card. This event is an 8-man invitational tournament with the winner awarded the MatMasters trophy. Next week SLAM Officials will release the entire Quarterfinal Bracket.
Tag-Team Round-Robin for SLAM Tag Championship, 3rd Leg: Champions Brody and Page b. Bockwinkel and Stevens (w/Bobby Heenan) to win the round-robin and retain their title as Brody beat Stevens by COR. Heenan was livid with this decision and demanded retribution as none of the falls ended in pin or submission. Heenan claimed “everyone in SLAM is crooked and on the take”, surely endearing himself to the match-makers and referees. Brody and Page finished with a 1-0-1 record and the Redheads finished second with 0-0-2 record. Much to Bobby Heenan’s chagrin Stevens and Bockwinkel finished 3rd with a 0-1-1 record.
SLAM officials sent word and all three teams will be involved in a tag-team title match at Night of Champions. The match is the first-ever Triple Texas Tornado Title Match with a twist: The Redheads and Bockwinkel and Stevens begin the match and after the first 10 minutes Champions Brody and Page enter the match. The Champions would also enter the match if one of the first two teams captures a fall before the initial 10-minute period. Heenan commented “This is a bogus decision, but his team will take it and win the gold”. Dallas Page both walked by the interview area and took exception, but Heenan got in Page’s face. DDP retaliated and was jumped by Stevens and Bockwinkel. Brody made the save and Page seemed to be only slightly roughed-up and received medical attention as a precaution. This match shapes up to be a wild affair and will act as the tie-breaker between the three teams in this awesome three-way rivalry.
SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase b. The Crusher, LOADED GLOVE. Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig spoke with both men before the match as he gets the winner in Houston. Looks like Dibiase gets Hennig in a champion-versus-champion, title-versus-title match in the Astrodome. Crusher bloodied Dibiase a bit after the match in retaliation for the finish, but Dibiase said this shows the world that the fan’s favorite is a poor sport.
The Night Of Champions Supercard looks like this:
Champion-versus-Champion, Best-of-Three Falls: SLAM Champion Ted Dibiase versus Intercontinental Champion Curt Hennig with only the I-C Title on the line in the first fall and the SLAM Title on the line for the winner of the match in these unusual stipulations. SLAM Officials reasoned that these stipulations were the result of this being a one-time only match and fans will witness a guaranteed historical encounter!
Triple Texas Tornado Tag-Team Title Match: Champions Bruiser Brody and Dallas Page defend against two challengers: The Flying Redheads and The Nick Bockwinkel-Crippler Ray Stevens combination. The challengers will begin the match and if a fall is not captured in 10 minutes then the champions enter the match. The champions will also enter the match if a pin or submission scored before the 10 minute period. Finally, SLAM officials have banned Bobby Heenan from ringside due primarily to actions during the recent matches and his comments regarding SLAM officials as the integrity of the officials will not be constantly questioned due to a wrestlers performance.
Women’s Champion Ida Mae Martinez faces Sensational Sherri and FSW Champion Jushin Liger meets former champion Tiger Mask in much-anticipated rematch.
The final feature is the 8-man elimination tournament for the Mat Master Trophy with the Quarterfinal Brackets announced next week.
Next week in Canton, Ohio the Quarterfinal Brackets in the tournament for the MatMaster Trophy will be announced and The Machines will face the Heenan Family for the first time as Crippler Stevens, Bobby Heenan and Rick Rude face Super, Mean and Giant Machines as Heenan subs for Nick Bockwinkel. Bockwinkel faces Bruiser Brody as their teams rivalry for the tag-team title spills into single competition. #1 Contender for the FSW Title Tiger Mask meets Danny Hodge and Bob Armstrong will be in singles competition.
