The History of Joint Promotions

What's happenin':

GWF: Perfect Specimen continues to enjoy a close to perfect GWF Title reign fans! He's coming off a fun feud with Heracles over the GWF World Heavyweight Title, which was pretty even in terms of their matches. Spec finally put Heracles away in their last match, this time convincingly, and will now face the Mighty Grogan in what should be a good test for Spec. Spec has 7 successful defenses of the GWF strap this time around, and continues to solidify his Hall of Fame (HOF) chances with each bout. He's a first ballot inductee when he's eligible (in a couple of years).

Adam Blast continues to feud with Pegasus, and Lord Nexus and the Draconian Sheik have renewed acquaintances after a really hard fought match (which resulted in Nexus being bloodied, and winning by DQ). The Sheik is currently feuding with just about every Titan there is for that matter!

WWA: The WWA World Title was in good hands with Nick Bockwinkel, or at least stable hands, when he promptly was upset by Pepper Gomez!! And before a rematch could be scheduled, Gomez lost the title to Larry Zbyszko (who was the next scheduled opponent). As Zbyszko won the title with less-than-honorable tactics, the WWA Board of Directors ordered an immediate rematch with Gomez, which Zbyszko promptly won (this time, a little more honorably!). So, the belt has become a bit of a hot potato once again, and we shall see if Mr. Zbyszko can bring some stability to this most prestigious of World Championships.

Other feuds include Bockwinkel vs. Hutton, stemming from their incredible title bout, and which will be resolved soon, and RVD & Sabu vs. Shane Douglas & Curt Hennig (which has been a battle over the tag belts that simply won't die!).

AAW: The AAW Championship scene, like the GWF's, is very stable, as Solar Hawk has just completed his 9th defense of this prestigious title. Solar Hawk has recent (clean) wins over (chief rival) The Champ, Jet Set Strutter, and GQ Stratus, AAW Main Event stars all. And, he barely broke a sweat for any of those wins, so the Hawk is on a roll fans! His next title defense will be against the arrogant Marcus Colby (from the GWFZ sets), who has been known to...ahem...bend the rules a time or two to get what he wants. Will he be able to dethrone Solar Hawk?? Stay tuned fans!

Other feuds include Y2K vs. Stellar Nexus vs. Varsity, a great 3-way feud that has been raging for some time!

What's happenin':

GWF: Perfect Specimen is enjoying quite the World Title reign, with 16 title defenses and counting, including some pretty impressive ones over Avarice, Prince of the Rose (whom I treat as a separate wrestler), and Y2K in an interpromotional bout. Shayne looms though, as Shayne won a #1 contender's bout against Mr. Everything. That could be a war!

TitanPower finished off a good feud against the Draconian Sheik by defeating the Sheik and Krakan for the GWF World Tag Titles...fun bout! And, in a 5-star MOTYC, Omega just barely beat Shawn Michaels (GWF vs. WWA), and there most certainly will be a rematch, as they tore the house down! Another great feud at the moment is the Omega family vs. Godsend, Avarice, and Prince of the Rose!

But all eyes are on Spec and his continued title reign. The record is 33 defenses (Godsend)...can Spec approach that??


WWA: Larry Zbyszko brought some much needed stability to the WWA World Title with a 7-defense reign, including a fun feud with Yukon Eric. And he was proving to be a great heel champion, cheating his way out of just about every single title match! He ran up against The Rock, however, and that ended things in a hurry! The Rock had his first defense against Ron Bass in a good bout, and then had a great bout against Mark Henry, which resulted in a disqualification! Plenty of heat in that, rest assured there will be a rematch!

Other feuds that need to be resolved are Zbyszko vs. Yukon Eric and Pepper Gomez and Red Bastien vs. Bockwinkel, Stevens, Rose, & Somers. Another fun feud is the Dirty White Boy vs. Tracy Smothers. Plenty of fun in the WWA fans!


AAW: Y2K finally brought down Solar Hawk, ending a very successful title reign for one of the AAW's greatest to ever lace 'em up! His first defense was a success against Alex Quark (from the Early Classics sets), and now he will start to face stiffer competition with a bout against one of his greatest rivals, the Sensational Sonny Owens!

One of the better feuds of the year, for any promotion, continues to rage between Stars and Stripes and the team of the Survivors over the AAW Tag belts, with nothing resolved yet. Could be heading to a special match soon to bring this feud to a close! And Hegemony won the AAW International Title (i.e., the AAW's secondary belt), and is proving to be a fun champ!

Really like that you're teaming Avarice with Prince of the Rose... Are you treating them as brothers? Cousins? It's definitely a pairing I've always had at the back of my mind when/if I get a COTG fed rolling again.

Even though my familiarity of GWFZ is extremely limited, I can't help but cheer for a character named Y2K... Awesome that he was able to snatch that title away from Solar Hawk and hopefully, he will have a memorable reign... BREAK THE WALLS DOWN!

Pariah, I'm treating them as brothers, with Prince of the Rose being the younger brother to Avarice. Works pretty darn well! I do that often, especially if a character is really strong in either a heel or face role. For that matter, in Origins 2138, I'm treating Godsend and Grand Master as 2 separate characters, 'cause Godsend is never turning face in my world!

And yep, Y2K was a (at least mostly) tribute-style character to Jericho in GWFZ, and I've always liked him; he's one of the greats in AAW (which consists of all fictional bootlegs...be they GWFZ, promoter made characters, etc.....plus any reimagined COTG characters).

What's Happenin':

GWF: Ladies and gentlemen, we have a NNNNNNNNEEEEEEWWWWW GWF World Heavyweight Champion, as Shayne b. Perfect Speciment with the Showdown in a (***1/2) match to capture the World belt! Great bout, with Shayne really dominating the last part of the contest to clearly show all that this modern legend is ready to take his place with the GWF greats of old! This ends a very impressive 16 title defense reign by Spec, so the former champion has nothing to be ashamed about fans!

Shayne then took his newly won title to Rochester, NY for a scheduled defense against the Draconian Sheik (picking up Spec's scheduled defenses). That bout was equally entertaining in its own right, with Shayne winning by DQ when the Drac. Sheik resorted to underhanded tactics. Fun stuff for the fans, as it was wild from the opening bell!

Shayne has survived 2 tests, and is eager to continue to prove his mettle as champ against any and all comers! Stay tuned Joint Promotions fans!



(breaking kayfabe) Promoters: I'm interested in hearing about some of your best feuds you've had involving Shayne. I'm looking for opponents to schedule for him, and while I will stick with some traditional foes such as Monolith and the newly introduced Mr. Everything, I'm curious to hear of some opponents y'all have chosen for Shayne that generated good heat! In my fed, the only man Shayne fears is Fist. Shayne has prided himself on facing (and usually beating) everyone. He had a random one off against Fist thanks to Fist winning a Rumble and Fist nearly had him. It was the only time in his career as Champion Shayne ever purposefully got himself DQ’d to retain the title.

In my fed, I keep tag teams in the tag division 99% of the time so Fist is focused on the Gladiators but Shayne knows Fist can beat him in a way he doesn’t like as is always keeping an eye out for him. Someday they’ll have a rematch. I’m looking forward to it.

Totally stoked that Shayne has won your GWF title, my friend... LAST ONE STANDING AFTER SHOWDOWN, BAY-BAY!

Although I never reached Shayne's heel turn (maybe someday), he never had any problem bending the rules if the situation called for it... He's had classic matches against BD Endgame, Chaos Supreme and Tauran... But, his most noteworthy feud was probably against Harbinger in 2130... Right after Harbinger turned on Power Force to join Dark Menace Forces... Shayne was the Galaxian Heavyweight Champion at the time and proved that he was willing to pull out all the stops to retain the title... Definitely a fun program.

Thank you throwingtoasters and Pariah, as these are all excellent suggestions! Exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, i.e., different match ups. Fist was a surprise, but could be fun to see what happens there. And Harbinger was a character with whom I've had some great matches, he could definitely be a fun opponent for ol' Shayne!
