Nice to see Idol win. ......... It almost didn't happen. Dutch kept getting the advantage but going back to the abdominal stretch like the dice had it as his strategy. Finally Idol came out on top of the brawl on the floor and got the leglock the next move. That level 2 defese will see Idol take some damage but his PIN is good enough that he can survive if he gets a good opening. Interesting balance to that card.

NWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING w/Tony Schiavone and David Crockett THE FALLOUT FROM CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS Magnum TA defeated Rock Riddle with the BELLY TO BELLY.Whew, real close one here. Riddle poured on the offense and Magnum apparently wasn't all the way recovered from his grueling I Quit match at the Clash. Rock got the BOSTON CRAB on Magnum, but TA fought out of it. Riddle continued to punish Magnum until a hard running forearm stunned Rock and the belly to belly finished him. After the match Magnum spoke with Tony and David. He said he felt like a rock had been lifted off his back by finally ending his troubles with Tully Blanchard. He continued by congratulating Tommy Rich on becoming new US champion but said he knows as a former champ that winning is one thing and staying on top is another. The challengers will be coming from all sides and you can add Magnum TA to that list. The Merchants Of Menace defeated George South and Frogman LeBlanc when Hugh Morrus pinned Frogman after NO LAUGHING MATTER.The competition stood no chance, as Adrian Street and Hugh Morrus started the beatings at the bell and did not let up for a moment en route to a one-sided 90 second victory. The Patriot defeated Bob Cook via UNCLE SLAMCook (the black and white Mr X card, which takes on various undercard names) gave Patriot WAY more trouble than he should have, but Patriot hit some nice standing dropkicks and Uncle Slam for the pin. Patriot talked to Tony and David after his match. He said he was glad to be back and he wants to climb the ladder once again. IVAN KOLOFF made his return to the territory to interrupt. He said he has not forgotten or forgiven the way he was forced to exit the area last time and he has come back after a trip to the mother land with a surprise for every "proud American" starting with Patriot. On that note, NIKITA KOLOFF stepped onto the scene as Ivan made the formal introduction. Nikita glared at Patriot and sneered "что это?"[chto eto?] Patriot got right in his face and the two stood nose to nose until Ivan said it was not time to fight right now and everyone would see Nikita in the ring next week. * Rock N Roll Epxress won by disqualification over The Moondogs (w/Eddie Gilbert)Action from bell to bell. The Express started strong as Ricky peppered Spot with punches. Spot grounded Morton and the Moondogs had a prolonged offensive stretch. Robert got in and heated things up again. In the end the bout spilled to the floor where the Moondogs were disqualified for using the bone as a weapon. The Express were declared the winners, but had to be helped off of the arena floor and walked to the back. Tony and David welcomed NEW United States champion Tommy Rich. Wildfire began by asking "Did somebody say somethin 'bout fired up?" and the fans went...wait for it....wild. Tommy said he knew it wasn't going to be easy, and it took all he had to beat Masked Superstar, but it paid off and he's the US champion. Rich added he's not looking past defending the title with honor and respect and making the fans happy everywhere he goes, but this belt puts him one step closer to the ultimate goal of EVERY wrestler and that's the NWA world heavyweight championship. Tony said Bockwinkel looked almost unstoppable at the moment, coming off the big victory in his rematch with Jack Brisco at the Clash. Rich concluded that any man can be beaten on any given night and all Tommy Rich needs is one good shot. The Spoiler (w/JJ Dillon) defeated Jimmy Valiant in a wild melee.Jimmy had his hands full with JJ and Spoiler, with nobody at ringside to help him, and the numbers finally caught up to him. Spoiler locked in his BIONIC CLAW (after possibly loading the glove) and Jimmy went down in defeat. As Spoiler kept the claw locked on after the match, JJ Dillon motioned for someone to come out from the back. A BIG man in a Masked Superstar mask appeared. Spoiler stepped back as the BIG man stepped over the top rope and looked down at Valiant. As Jimmy tried to get to his feet the BIG man grabbed him up in an over the shoulder backbreaker. Finally TOMMY RICH came running out to ringside with a chair in hand and Dillon called his men off.
As Tommy checked on Valiant, JJ and his men went over to Tony and David. JJ said that when one falls another shall rise up to take his place. Grapppler 2 fell and the Spoiler returned. Now Masked Superstar has fallen and MASKED SUPERSTAR 2 has risen to tower above them all. He warned that Jimmy Valiant's crusade will never be over because JJ Dillon and the Masksed Assassins are unstoppable.
* I will RARELY use bootleg cards in the game (which is funny because there's still a website full of ones I made in the black and white era), but I have been wanting to use this Nikita card for a while now (many of you probably know the one. Spot on stats and cool Werner art). It doesn't look like he's ever getting in the game proper so here we are.

AWA ALL STAR WRESTLING with your host, Larry Nelson Larry Zbyszko defeated Nacho Barrera after a PILEDRIVER.Larry wasted no time here. At the bell Larry blocked a single leg attempt, hit Nacho with a big elbow to the head, and finished with the piledriver and pin. Larry Nelson spoke with Larry Zbyszko at ringside after the match. Larry Z said he's had many glorious years in wrestling, but one thing has eluded him and that's the world title. Now the champion makes his home base in Minnesota and, lo and behold, Larry Zbyszko is here as well. Being allies with Bockwinkel doesn't matter because the money that comes from being world champion can buy a lot more friends than the ones lost getting there. The Flying Redheads defeated The Texas Hangmen when Bastien pinned Killer. The Hangmen had Lyons in real trouble and would have gotten the win if not for a timely save by Bastien. Lyons managed to tag out and Bastien came in to save the day and score the pin with his ATOMIC DROP. Back in the studio, Ken Resnick interviewed Buddy Rose and Doug Somers. Rose said Baron and Firpo got lucky the last time they met, but the odds are always in the favor of the Playboy and the Pretty Boy in the long run. He said they have gone and gotten the most talented female wrestler in the world to watch their backs and handle their affairs. SHERRI MARTEL walked onto the interview set and said not only does she have the most dangerous body in pro wrestling, but she has the most dangerous mind. She vowed to lead her men to tag team greatness and soon they will all be champions when they are tag champs and she takes her rightful place as women's champion. Mr Electricity Steve Regal defeated Ric McCord withe the Ft Lauderdale Leglock.McCord seemed like he was on his way to a big win when Regal rolled out of the ring. Ric followed, but Regal got the drop on him, ran his knee into the steel ringpost, and tossed him back into the ring to apply his submission finisher for the win. Larry Nelson announced BIG NEWS and introduced the returning STAN "THE LARIAT" HANSEN. Stan said there's a lot going on around the world of wrestling and right here in the AWA. He's dominated Japan and he's back to do the same here. Stan Hansen defeated Jake Milliman with the LARIAT.Hansen absolutely crushed the Milkman. Chop, hammer to the back, Borger Body Slam, and a Lariat for the pin to seal the win. Larry Nelson warned that "viewer discretion is advised" for our main event, as the Crusher and Larry Hennig try to settle their differences in an anything goes ALLEY FIGHT mathc! The Crusher defeated Larry Hennig in an alley fight match. Brutal action from bell to bell. Neither man gave an inch and the action took place all over the ringside area. Finally Crusher wore down Hennig with the CRUSHER NELSON, then spun him around and hit the CRUSHER BOLO for the knockout win.

NWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING w/Tony Schiavone and David Crockett Tony and David did the show open and then introduced US Champion TOMMY "WILDFIRE" RICH and BOOGIE WOOGIE MAN JIMMY VALIANT. They talked about their main event match of the night with Spoiler and Grappler. Tony asked why they weren't joined by Raging Bull Manny Fernandez since he's getting ready to have a match in the opening bout. Valiant said Manny is focued and intense and doesn't want to talk right now, but he promised he'd do his talking in the ring because newcomer REDD DOGG has called out the biggest and baddest in the area and the Bull has answered. Redd Dogg won by disqualification over Raging Bull Manny Fernandez.Dogg started strong, then the Bull took over in this anthropomorphic tussle. Manny took it to the floor and savagely beat Redd Dogg until the referee was forced to call for the bell. Jimmy Valiant ran over to try to pull Manny off of his opponent, but Bull shoved Jimmy and got in a few more stomps before leaving. Tony and David, stunned by the savagery of Fernandez, continued the show by welcoming Ricky and Robert, the Rock N Roll Express. Ricky said they haven't seen the last of the Moondogs after last week, but that also means the Moondogs haven't seen the last of the Rock N Roll Express and they can get just as nasty as they wanna be. Robert concurred. Tony then welcomed The Patriot to provide guest commentary for the next match.Nikita Koloff (w/Uncle Ivan) demolished George South. Nikita pummeled the man mercilessly and probably took a little longer than was needed before finally going for the pin after a RUSSIAN SICKLE.After the match Ivan and Nikita went over to where Tony, David, and Patriot were standing. Ivan said now Patriot sees what a superior Russian athlete is capable of, so maybe he should run away and hide like a good American. Patriot said all he saw was a bully taking advantage of a smaller opponent and he'd like to see Nikita try against someone his own size. Ivan said that could be arranged and, as a matter of fact, it can happen right here next week. Nikita sneered at Patriot and said "неудачник [neudachnik]" before walking away. The Road Warriors destroyed Thunderfoot and Gene Ligon in a non-title match.Hawk and Animal wasted no time. Animal pinned Ligon after the POWER SLAM. Post match promo by the Road Warriors and Precious Paul. Ellering said the challengers are lining up all over the country and the world, but they are being lined up like dominoes that will get knocked down. Hawk said the Merchants Of Menace have called them out but they'd be more scared of the Merchants Of Venice because that's a stinking play by William stinking Shakespeare or Francis Bacon or whoever really wrote it and sitting through that would be like having an enema. Then Animal got serious and turned the attention to THE FABULOUS ONES. He said everyone is kissing up to Stan Lane and Steve Keirn but when they finally get in the ring with Hawk and Animal the Fabulous Ones won't be kissing up, they'll be looking up at the lights from flat on their backs. Bob Backlund defeated Dan Severn via CROSSFACE CHICKENWING in a rematch from the Omni. This was another fantastic bout between two mat masters. Severn nearly had it won with the ARM BAR and once with the CHOKE SLEEPER, but Bob fought out of it and went on to use his own submission hold to secure the decisive win. Following the match Bob spoke with Tony and David. He said Nick Bockwinkel made it out of his title rematch with Jack Brisco and he's becoming a dominant champion. But he has yet to face Bob Backlund and when the NWA championship committee determines the match should take place, the fans are going to see a new champion. Tommy Rich and Jimmy Valiant defeated Spoiler and The Grappler (w/JJ Dillon)Action from bell to bell. Jimmy almost went down early to the BIONIC CLAW, but Tommy made the save. Rich ended up in the ring with Grappler and got the pin with the THESZ PRESS as Jimmy ran interference to keep Spoiler from breaking up the pin. After the match Masked Superstar 2 stepped in over the top rope and attacked Valiant once more. As Spoiler and Grappler fought Rich Superstar 2 again went to grab Valiant in the over the shoulder backbreaker. Raging Bull Manny Fernandez ran out and hit Supersar in the back with a chair as he went to lift Jimmy. Fernandez went toe to toe with Superstar 2 as Rich fought Grappler behind him. Rich accidentally bumped into Manny from behind and Manny turned and hit him with the chair! Dillon ordered his masked men to leave as Jimmy went to check on Rich and Manny stood over him with the chair in hand. Manny kept telling Jimmy he didn't know it was Rich, but Jimmy was more focused on Tommy and less on Manny's words.
The show ended with a disgusted Manny throwing down the chair and leaving the arena as the referee and Jimmy helped Tommy to his feet.

CWA from Memphis with LANCE RUSSELL Lance did the show open and was very excited about the action they're bringing the fans. He then welcomed STEVE AND STAN, THE FABULOUS ONES. Steve said they are happy to be back in Memphis after touring the country but they are NOT happy about what happened to their mentor Jackie Fargo last week. Stan took over and said that's why they're here this week to take on Tommy and Doug Gilbert and get some revenge. Tracy Smothers defeated Frogman LeBlanc in easy fashion after the JAWJACKER.Smothers got in a few nice moves before putting Frogman away in less than two minutes. Lance welcomed Tracy to the commentary area. Smothers said he's there for the same reason any wrestler worth stepping in the ring here works for, and that's Austin Idol's championship belt. Bill Dundee came out and welcomed Tracy and said it's a long climb to the top but he wishes Tracy well. Dundee then turned his attention to Jimmy Hart and his claim of a new member of the First Family coming in this week. Dundee said he's willing to get in the ring with him right here, right now, sight unseen so hopefully he can shut Hart's mouth and take HIS place among the top contenders for the Southern title. Leaping Lanny Poffo (w/Jimmy Hart) defeated Superstar Bill Dundee after the SKY DROP.Tremendous action here, as Dundee was in control until the match went to the floor. Dundee was distracted by Hart and Poffo jumped him from behind, tossed him back into the ring, and used his finisher for the big debut win. Jimmy and Poffo talked to Lance after the match. Poffo said he's back and unchained after a disasterous stint where a clueless promoter up north tried to cramp his style and hinder his chances at success. Now the proof is not in the pudding, but in the ring, where Lanny Poffo is victorious. DUNDEE walked over and said Poffo got one over on him this week, but the element of surprise is gone and let's see if he can make it two in a row next week. The FABULOUS ONES won by disqualification over Tommy and Doug Gilbert. This was a fight from bell to bell. They started fighting before the bell and did not stop at the final bell. The action went out of the ring and Doug grabbed the ring bell to attack Stan while Steve and Tommy brawled. Stan took a glancing blow from the bell and rolled back into the ring as Steve rolled back in on the opposite side. The Gilberts tried to get back in the ring, but the Fabs cut them off. Security finally got Tommy and Doug out of the ring as the fans went wild for Steve and Stan. Southern champion AUSTIN IDOL joined Lance. He said he's here to watch the main event because, as champion, he has a vested interest in this one. Lance said he's got something else Idol will have an interest in: "BY GOLLY, I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO TODAY'S ANNOUNCEMENT", Lance exclaimed, then proceeded to say that there will be a big battle royal coming up with the winner receiving a title shot against Austin Idol at a later date. Idol was livid, saying that's not the way a title match should be decided and there's no way he can prepare for a random opponent. Dutch Mantell won by disqualification over Ox Baker when Hart and Idol interferred. Ox controlled the early part of the match, but Dutch fought back. It went back and forth for a while until Dutch got the DOUBLE DUTCH CLUTCH. Hart got in the ring and jumped on Dutch's back to break it up. Dutch threw Hart off of him and Idol attacked. Idol and Ox were peppering Dutch with punches and kicks until TRACY SMOTHERS, BILL DUNDEE, and THE FABULOUS ONES ran out to chase them away. They were intercepted by the GILBERTS and LANNY POFFO. The show ended with a big 10 man brawl in the ring as Lance called for order and civility.
