So when I got the game back in 1995, I never really understood the choice situations.
Can someone explain how they work - for example - Thantos (original card) has a choice D after a Shoulder Breaker.
This gives me two options - a Kick to the face or a Cobra Clutch Suplex...
I don't know what to do from here. Can someone explain?

From the rule book:
This rule applies when an instruction on offense is followed by (ch) and a letter. The original instruction should be ignored. Instead, the player looks at the Choice Situations chart under the letter that followes (ch) on the playing card. In all cases a player has a choice of two moves to try on his opponent. Whether the moves will be successful or not depends on the certain skills on the opponent. The offensive player will need to add or subtract his opponent’s agility and/or power ratings to determine the odds that these moves will be successful
Basically, you make a choice of which move you want to attempt depending on the opponent’s skill level. Usually the one more likely to succeed but that’s all up to you.

I use the choices chart but never use the move on the choices chart but the move on the wrestler's card.
For example for "piledriver-3 (ch F)" whichever move I choose on the chart goes down as a piledriver.

Since I play legends, I’ll use this example and will use Jim Duggan since he has a +2 agility and -2 power.
First, I ignore the move of the choice chart since the don’t make sense with most wrestlers. I just use the move on the wrestlers card
Say Duggar is fighting Nikolai Volkoff and Volkoff rolls 4 on level 2, which is double ac handle - 2 (ch F).
The first choice is the move works on a roll of 7 plus of minus agility rating. If you want to use that, add Duggans agility to the 7, which makes it 9. If you roll a 2-9, the move works
If Volkoff wanted to try option 2, which is move will become a -3 on a roll of 7 plus or minus Duggans power. Since Duggans power is -2, the move would work in a roll of 2-5 (subtracting the -2 from 7)
I hope that explains it a bit

The choice chart slows down the matches so I don't normally use it. I would if I played with other people, though.

I have re-written the choice chart to list moves that (almost) anyone can use, or at least attempt. I tried to make them strategic choices. For example, on ch C, you can try a German suplex - 3 (agility move), or throw out the rule book and apply a choke hold - 2 (power move). Nice-guy wrestlers like Lou These will always go for the German suplex, even against an agile wrestler like Bryan Danielson. Danielson, in turn, may choose to go for the choke (he has 'til five, you know) against his arch-nemesis Thesz even though it would be better for him to use the German suplex.
But any way you play it, it's all good!

Ch charts are advanced options for players who enjoy involving more choices and strategy into their game play.
What is the advantage of using Ch charts?
The Ch charts give a player the opportunity to hit a big move that could result in a PIN attempt or their opponent landing on a down - 3.
For example:
Choices A, B, C, and F can all be found on Levels 1 and 2 Offense. All four choices have options that can result in the opponent being down or rolling their PIN.
This gives a player the advantage of getting a PIN attempt on his opponent or getting them down from Level 1 and Level 2 Offense.
Choices A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H all include options that can result in the opponent being down or rolling their PIN rating.
Ch Charts are big advantages against targeting opponents weaknesses.
Choice A is most powerful against opponents with a poor to average (C or B) ropes rating.
Choice B is most powerful against opponents with a poor to average (C or B) turnbuckle rating.
Choice D is most powerful against opponents with average to poor (0 to +5) power.
Choice E is most powerful against wrestlers with poor to average (0 to +5) agility.
Choices G and H are most powerful against opponents with poor to average (C or B) deathjump ratings.
These are all choices a player can make during the heat of the moment that could result in a massive swing in momentum.
The disadvantage of course is that if the player on offense fails to hit his ch chart move, the opponent takes over on Level 2 Offense (or worse).
