The Lords Of Salem is a really good Rob Zombie film with a different feel.
If any hardcore horror fans need a palette cleanser after Halloween Ends, Terrifier 2 is it. If you've seen the first one, they top it with the sequel. Not for the casual viewer.

Lords of Salem is another recent purchase and will be watching it in the next couple days. Tonight I am going old school and will watch Horror Express again.
Funny side story on Lords of Salem, when I had streaming services I saw a movie I thought was the Rob Zombie movie so I ended up watching it. It felt really weird and after I realized it was not the Rob Zombie movie. The movie was Lords of Chaos and is based on true events involving Black/Death Metal bandmates in Norway. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys dark movies especially ones based on true crimes.

Heard about that case. Dark stuff. Could be good for some, but not for me. I prefer my horror nice and implausibly fictitious. I get no entertainment out of the suffering of real people. Don't even bring up that Netflix Jeffy D nonsense to me.
Victor Crowley in the Hatchet series . Now there's horror I can endorse.

Well in my defense I did not realize it was real till AFTER watching. The fact is it is a good movie. I still need to get into the Victor Crowley movies. I have read stuff on Wiki and it sounds good. Speaking of Wiki, I read just the beginning of the plot for Terrifier and it sounds good. But looks like it will be awhile till I see it as the DVD's seem to be only on the second hand market and at a high price. Would you say seeing Terrifier 2 first would ruin a lot for watching the original? I can get the sequel at a fair price but not sure if I want to watch that first or wait to see the original first.

If you're in the states or can use a VPN You can watch the first Terrifier on Roku channel for free. But no, there's really nothing that will be ruined by watching them out of order I don't think.

I do not have a preferred sub-gene in horror but if I did Horror Express would fit that bill. Great actors, really good story idea that is original, a period piece and lastly good eerie music that sets the tone for the movie and gives the feeling of hopelessness. It is why I am a fan of Lucio Fulci's Gates Of Hell trilogy. Horror Express was a movie I saw on the creature feature one Saturday afternoon as a kid and it stuck with me for years, nay decades. I finally remembered enough and using the internet tracked down the title a couple years ago and ordered the DVD. Overall the movie is really good. A few parts do not make sense. Maybe they suffer from editing for time. Also, I would have preferred the dark ending in this instead of the Hollywood one but that is a small thing. To me, it is an enjoyable movie.

Lords of Salem was a cool movie. Different than what Rob Zombie usually does. As with his movies it is a bit off so not a great movie but still enjoyable. Sheri Moon Zombie keeps moving up my celebrity crush list. She has natural beauty and such an amazing personality.
So, I was all set to go to the old theater downtown to see The Shining tomorrow and the original Halloween next Monday. Found out today my schedule next week has changed and instead of being off Monday I am off Sunday. So no Halloween for me. They are showing Poltergeist on Sunday and I am meh. Was hoping for something better.

All year 'round is horror movie season for me. The Nightmare series, Friday the 13th, Halloween excluding this modern reboot. The classics of course. The less mainstream like the Sleepaway Camp series, Slumber Party Massacre...I could go on. Sometimes I even like to jump on Amazon Prime and see what D rate movies they have on there that look like they were shot on a cell phone camera. Some of those are fun. Awesome, another Sleepaway Camp fan. Don't want to say too much about the final scene of the first movie but it still sends chills down my spine every time I watch it. When I was a kid me and my buddy LOVED watching the second movie in the series because of all the gratuitous nudity! Always enjoy watching The Exorcist. A movie that psychologically says with you long after you finish watching it. I was about 15 the first time I saw it and I'm glad I watched it in the morning because a nighttime viewing likely would have resulted in me sleeping with the lights on. I always enjoy a good cheesy horror movie. Just watched a good one on Shudder called Chopping Mall. It's about a mall that brings in robots as security guards. However, after being struck by lightning they turn into killer robot security guards. Another good cheesy one I like is Zombeavers. It involves a can of toxic waste falling off the back of a truck, landing in a beaver dam and turning all the beavers into zombie-beavers. Absolutely hilarious.

Zombeavers is ridiculous in a good way. Full of the classic tropes. Just got done with the Hell House LLC trilogy. I don't really do the found footage films, but it was recommended to me. After the first one I was wondering what the people who said it was good were smoking, but it starts to flesh out in the second, and the story actually makes sense in the third.

The guy who played Deathstalker in the second movie is in there. When talking cheesy horror, but also a pretty cool idea and movie, you have to mention April Fool's Day. For me, that movie is a blast.
