Happy happy Halloween, Silver Shamrock!
What's your favorite Halloween Havoc?
Much better question than "What's your favorite scary movie?", Scream dude.
For me it's either 1992 or 1993. Rick Rude and Ric Flair in 93 makes me lean towards that one, but both had their moments. Late 90s ones were fun too for different reasons.

I saw The Wailing last night. It was...different. I was not a fan of the early part of the movie as it seemed the writer/director was not sure what direction they wanted to take the movie. The main character would seem like a normal person with a keen mind in one scene and look like a keystone cop goofball in the next. Plus, some of the early scenes seemed to cut to the next while not being finished and overall, it was a bit jarring. However, after first 15 minutes or so the movie finds it's groove and we no longer see the main character being done for comic relief. Overall the movie was really good and I would recommend solely for the last half hour to hour. It gets really good and they ramp up the suspense. I thought I knew where they were headed but there is curveball after curveball. If only they did better in the opening this movie would have been up high on my all-time favorites. The pay-off in the end was not worth it at all.

Last night I went home after work and made chilli then watched It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. After all these years it still makes me smile especially when I see Lucy reading the TV Guide with her pic on it. That is one of the best inside jokes/Easter eggs/whatever you want to call it. A brilliant move.

Tonight after work I watched Barbarian.
Barbarian is a really good horror movie that I would recommend checking out either on HBO Max (which is where I watched it,) the theater, when it gets released on RedBox, etc. The trailer does not give away much of the story and there is some genuine suspense at multiple times in the movie. Without giving anything away, there are some similarities to the first Don't Breathe (which I also thought was really good.) I give this movie an A-.
Although there have been some horrible horror movies this year such as the Firestarter remake and Halloween Kills, 2022 has also seen some good horror movies such as Barbarian and X. I even liked the new Scream that was released at the beginning of the year (although not as much as the original Scream and Scream 2.) I have also heard that Bodies, Bodies, Bodies and Pearl (the prequel to X) are good horror movies which were also released in 2022.

I ended up watching the Nightmare Before Christmas (Sing Along version. Wasn't sure if it was anything different but it just had the songs on the screen without any other closed captioning) Still one of my favorite movies and by watching it now, leaves a space open for Christmas for a different movie.

Never been a horror movie guy. But this year I plan to finally watch the original Halloween. Its a classic and about time I've seen it. Took me until after 11PM on Halloween night, but I finally watched the Original 1978 movie last night. I can absolutely see why it is considered a classic. So many classic horror tropes invented here as well as the basis for the Kane character in WWE. Fantastic suspenseful movie and not a gore fest, loved it.

I was disappointed when I found out that the Decades network was doing a block of Hammer Studio films this past weekend. I found out late Sunday when flipping thru channels. On the plus side, I found out that in early 80's they had a TV Show, Hammer Studios House of Hammer. I caught the last of one episode and watched the next one before going to bed. They are an hour and of the 1 1/2 I saw while not mind blowing or original ideas per say they have original twists to some good horror ideas. I really enjoyed them. I might look into buying the DVD of the series. It is only one season and like 13 episodes.

The Lords Of Salem is a really good Rob Zombie film with a different feel. If any hardcore horror fans need a palette cleanser after Halloween Ends, Terrifier 2 is it. If you've seen the first one, they top it with the sequel. Not for the casual viewer. Thanks for the recommendation for Terrifier. I found it for a good price online and picked it up. Watched it last night and really enjoyed it. Gonna pick up the sequel soon.
