Evil Dead (1981) and Evil Dead II (1987) are two of my top picks for "cheesy" horror.

I saw the third one, Army of Darkness, at the theater last week. "Gimme some sugar baby" helps keep it cheesy.

Cheesy horror goes to Re-animator. Oooh I love the other Stuart Gordon adaptations of HP Lovecraft too, like From Beyond and Dreams of the Witch-House.

Did anyone here see Barbarian?
It sounds good, received overall good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and just got added to HBO Max.
I usually watch a horror movie on Halloween so I might watch Barbarian on HBO Max this Monday/Halloween before I watch RAW.

I have not but it looked interesting. One of a few new horror movies to come out the last month or so that look interesting.

It seems like I just started this thread a week ago. Yet here we are on Halloween Eve, Eve. Tonight, I am going home and watching The Wailing. It is a horror movie from South Korea that is supposed to be very good. I saw promos for it on my Phantasm DVDs and checked the "Reception" on Wiki. It is a long movie at over 2 1/2 hours. I will give my thoughts on it tomorrow.

I saw The Wailing last night. It was...different. I was not a fan of the early part of the movie as it seemed the writer/director was not sure what direction they wanted to take the movie. The main character would seem like a normal person with a keen mind in one scene and look like a keystone cop goofball in the next. Plus, some of the early scenes seemed to cut to the next while not being finished and overall, it was a bit jarring. However, after first 15 minutes or so the movie finds it's groove and we no longer see the main character being done for comic relief. Overall the movie was really good and I would recommend solely for the last half hour to hour. It gets really good and they ramp up the suspense. I thought I knew where they were headed but there is curveball after curveball. If only they did better in the opening this movie would have been up high on my all-time favorites.

Just watched the new Treehouse of Horror (it's been a long time since I've seen a new episode of the Simpsons, and it was pretty good!) Poor Julie Kavner's voice so sad, but what a trooper to keep going!

I'm spoiler free so I'm excited. Even though fifteen minutes in I already said to myself... Yeah I would never do that. But I'm hopeful.
