In a stunning development, Hyper and Sir Ender reached the finals of the Galaxy Cup tag team tournament by defeating Rebel Empire as Hyper pinned Nefarus with a “Berserk Pounding Assault.”

Preadator and Wrath reached the finals of the tournament for the first time by defeating Malice and Overkill as Wrath hit a “Reprisal” on Overkill and Predator followed with a “Guerilla Death Drop.”

Galaxy Cup Tag Team Tournament Final
Predator and Wrath won the Galaxy Cup Tag Team Tournament for the first time, ending the incredible streak of Hyper and Sir Ender as Predator made Hyper submit to an “Aethran Lock.”

Galaxy Cup Tournament Notes:
Terminus completed an impressive run to win the singles tournament for the first time. His victory over Enigma in the finals was a tough match with great action before the Aran superstar took advantage of an opportunity and scored a quick pin.

The most surprising performance of the singles tournament came from Minotaur, who managed an impressive four wins before being defeated. Some of the best matches in the tournament were Warfare’s upset of Euritar, Mike Fortune’s DQ win over Maelstrom, the Draconian Sheik’s battle with the Mad Jester Clone in round one, and Blazing Skull’s clash with Wrath in the second round.

However, the biggest shock of the Galaxy Cup event was the amazing run of Hyper and Sir Ender in the tag team tournament. Sir Ender never actually entered the ring, as Hyper started each match and never tagged out while carrying his team to the finals in one of the greatest single efforts in tournament history.

INJURIES LEAD INTO GALACTIC WAR SUPERCARD

A variety of injuries suffered during the first month of GWF action in 2114 threatened to impact the upcoming Galactic War supercard on February 19.  Hardest hit was the tag team title match, with both the champions Twin Blood and the challengers Predator and Wrath suffering damage that could affect their chances at the big event.

The first significant injury took place in a match between Predator and his Aethran rival Venom.  Predator had just connected with his "Guerrilla Warfare" finisher and seemed to have the match won when Brute, who had accompanied Venom to ringside, knocked down Predator's manger Bounty Hunter and then joined Malice and Overkill in assaulting Predator, causing the disqualification.  Predator's half-brother and tag partner Wrath was not in the building, and thus the beating lasted for several minutes before help arrived from Wolf and, ironically, from Predator's opponents at the upcoming supercard, Dreggs and Sleeze. Predator suffered a badly sprained knee along with a variety of deeply bruised muscles in the attack.

After the card, Predator made clear that he would not let his injuries keep him out of the tag team championship match.  "So I'm beat up a little," he stated. "The Aethrans obviously wanted to stop me and Wrath from going after the tag belts.  It's not gonna work.  Hurt or not, I'll be there, and even though I appreciate the help from Dreggs and Sleeze tonight, they're in for a fight."

A week later the odds in the tag title match were evened slightly as Dreggs suffered a strained calf muscle in a tag team match against Titan Honor.  Like Predator, Dreggs stated without hesitation that the tag title match was still on.  

In another significant incident, Tortured Soul, who serves as a bodyguard for GWF Heavyweight Champion Blazing Skull, was injured in a match against Prodigy on February 14 and was expect to miss the supercard, presumably leaving Blazing Skull to fend off Terminus and his manager Thantos on his own in the main event at Galactic War.

Also injured in separate incidents and expected to miss the supercard were Euritar, U. S. Male, Enigma, and Anarchy.

SKULL AND ARCHON PUT ON A CLASSIC

GWF Heavyweight Champion Blazing Skull and his long-time rival Archon staged one of their most memorable battles at Earth's Luna Auditorium on February 9.   The champion controlled the first seven minutes of the match before Archon made a comeback with an incredible flurry of offense that seemed to have Skull beaten after a "Riot Act" if Tortured Soul had not interfered.  The reprieve gave Skull a chance to recover, and the back-and-forth match continued until the twenty-three minute mark, with both wrestlers bloodied and exhausted, when Blazing Skull finally ended it with a "Burning Touch" to retain the belt.

A frustrated Archon commented after the match that "This is far from over.  He won tonight, with help from his creepy sidekick, but I'm still going to take that belt.  Skull is sick, and he's a disgrace to that championship.  I'll never stop going after him."

GALACTIC WAR 2114

Each year the first regular supercard presented by the GWF is Galactic War, which has been held annually since 2090. The event was first hosted at the Alpha Centauri Colonnade, but since 2100 it has taken place at Jupiter’s huge Io Coliseum. Galactic War 2114 was attended by a crowd of 115,119.

Each year at Galactic War,  the winners of the Galaxy Cup Singles and Tag Team Tournaments that opened the year are granted automatic title shots. For 2114 Singles Tournament Winner Terminus was therefore set to face Galaxian Heavyweight Champion Blazing Skull in the main event, while Galaxy Cup Tag Team Tournament Champs Predator and Wrath would square off against GWF Tag Team Champions Twin Blood despite both Dreggs and Predator having suffered injuries in recent matches from which they were not fully recovered.

Assassin X defeated Tanck
In a battle of Krakan's new man against one of Krakan's former employees, Assassin X dominated before winning with a "Contract Killing."

American Guy defeated Maelstrom
With his tag team partner U. S. Male out with an injury, American Guy joined Maelstrom in putting on a terrific fifteen minute back-and-forth battle before finally putting his opponent away with a "Peacemaker Slingshot."

The Creatures of Lamia defeated Transformer
Cyclopes pounded both members of Transformer and never tagged out of the match before putting away Nth Degree with a "Cyclopes Power Slam."

Cygnus Adamantium Fists Match:  Atman defeated Slayer
Atman was beaten down early but came back to score the victory in this brutal match that left both wrestlers injured.

Encubus defeated Corporal Aegis
The son of Thantos had little difficulty as he put away Aegis with a clothesline from the top rope.

Mandrill defeated Wraith
The Prime Colonizer totally dominated his opponent, finally putting Wraith away with a "Colonizer Claw Slam" after five one-sided minutes.

After the match, Mandrill commented on his current status.  "Walking over Wraith tonight was nothing more than a workout for me," he growled.  "No matter who wins between Skull and Terminus tonight, we all know I'm next in line.  I don't care which one of them wins, because neither of them is a match for me. I'm the number one contender, and very soon they're gonna to have to give me the title shot I deserve."

Cosmic Cage Match:  Lycanthrope defeated Venom
In a surprisingly one-sided match between two old rivals from the USWF, the son of Wolf manhandled his Aethran opponent before putting him away with "The Howling."

The SWAT Team defeated Desolation Factor by disqualification
This match ended shortly after it began when Rack was disqualified in a brawl on the arena floor with Warfare

Bloodline defeated Atys Tetrak by disqualification
Bloodline appeared to be in control of this contest before Tetrak earned a disqualification outside the ring to end it.

Hydra Lumberjack Match:  Archon defeated Murdok
Archon got the win after Vyper hit Murdok with a "Viper's Sideshow" outside the ring and rolled him back in for the cover.

Falls Count Anywhere Match for the Special Matches Title:  Avalanche (c) vs. Wolf
This match was no real contest as Wolf pounded the huge champion all over the arena before suplexing him through a chair in the audience and pinning him to reclaim the special matches belt that he had lost to Avalanche in December 2113.

Vyper defeated Eclipse
In an excellent match, Eclipse took an early advantage, but Vyper came back and won it at the eleven minute mark with a "Leviathan."

After the match Vyper commented both on his victory and on his actions earlier in the evening.  "I don't like Krakan. Never have.  And if Rising Sun is going to hang around with Krakan now, I got no use for him either, no matter what he calls himself. As for Murdok, if he has problems with what I did in the Lumberjack Match, he won't have any problem finding me.  I don't much like him either.  I almost took Terminus down for the Interplanetary Belt last week, and I'll go through whoever I have to to get another shot."

Titan Hardcore Match:  Scion Nexus defeated Mike Fortune
Nexus and Fortune had split a pair of matches on the previous two cards. This time Nexus hammered Krakan's henchman down quickly before forcing him to submit to a crossface chickenwing.  After the bell, Nexus continued to apply the hold, resulting in a neck injury to Fortune that was expected to keep him out of action for two weeks.

The Gladiators defeated Titan Honor
The Titans put up an outstanding fight against their larger opponents, gaining several near falls on Malice and surviving the "Aethran Supremacy" finisher twice.  However, at the twenty-three minute mark, Malice hit the "Fields of Malice" on Blade to score the win.

Between matches, an angry Krakan issued a statement.  "So that's how Nexus wants to play this, huh?  Trying to take Fortune out?  Well, Fortune will be back soon, but if this is the way Lord Nexus wants things to go, we'll have some surprises. Trust me, this year is going to heat up between us fast, and I just may take that loser out for good."

Lepus Stun Rod Match:  Disaster defeated Kill Prey
In an intense but fairly brief battle, Disaster connected with a "Decapitator" at the six minute mark for the win.

Four Weapons of Destruction Match:  Hyper defeated Genocide
Given both the type of match and the hatred of the combatants for each other, this match was predictably brutal.  Genocide took a strong early advantage, but Hyper fought back and finally knocked out his larger opponent.  Both men were helped from the ring after the final bell and were expected to miss the next several cards.

The Ravagers defeated Rebel Empire with Massif as the special referee
In a budding rivalry that began in a bloody singles match between Vendetta and Rankor two weeks earlier, the Ravagers won a one-sided contest when Vendetta went down to a "Ravager Sack."

Flamsteed Street Fight:  Thunder defeated Max Shield
This fight was a solid back-and-forth contest until Disaster attacked Shield from behind on the arena floor and helped Thunder score the pin.

After the bell, Thunder called for a microphone.  "I hear Mandrill was claiming that he'll be next to challenge for the heavyweight championship," he said. "Well, get in line, monkey-boy. I'm ranked right up there with you, and I already beat Skull in a non-title match this year. That belt's mine, and you'd better stay out of my way."

Castor Chain Match:  Pegasus defeated Mensar
This rivalry match was a brutal affair that Pegsus won after nine tough minutes by tying Mensar up with the chain to beat him.

Tag Team Championship Match:  Twin Blood (c) vs. Predator and Wrath.
With one member of each team fighting despite an injury, this contest went back and forth several times before Predator caught a clearly hobbled Dreggs off guard with a neckbreaker and pinned him to claim the tag belts.  The win gave both half-Aethran brothers their first GWF tag team titles.

Galaxian Heavyweight Championship Match: Blazing Skull (c) vs. Terminus
Terminus was unable to successfully cash in his Galaxy Cup Singles Tournament title shot as Skull took just seven minutes to catch him with a "Death by Fire" and score the win. Terminus suffered moderate burns and was expected to miss as much as three weeks of action.

Final Notes:
After the card, the new tag team champions expressed respect for their opponents. "Dreggs and Sleeze are our friends, and I'm sort of sorry this match had to happen when we weren't all healthy," Predator stated.  "But that's wrestling.  We'll give them a rematch any time they want.  We know how tough they are, and no one deserves a shot more, but we plan to hang on to these titles for a while.  And any time the Gladiators want to come for them, we'll be waiting."

Commissioner Morpheus offered comments on the main event and the Galaxian Title picture. "Well, I don't much like the way Skull won tonight.  I'm going to sit him out of the next card because of it, but in the end Terminus and Thantos are no saints either, so I guess what goes around comes around.  As to whether Mandrill or Thunder gets the next title shot, I'll figure that out soon.  They have both been terrific this year.  I'm sure both will get their chances."

THUNDER STOPS BLAZING SKULL TO WIN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Galaxian Heavyweight Championship changed hands on March 2, 2114 as Thunder downed Blazing Skull at the Juno Civic Auditorium.

Skull was forced to fight the match without his bodyguard Tortured Soul, who had suffered an injury on a previous card.  The battle with Thunder was a classic that lasted for nearly 40 minutes, with both wrestlers giving everything they had.  The champion appeared to retain his title at at least two different points, but Brute interfered on Thunder's behalf or distracted the referee to prevent the victory.  However, Skull himself refused to quit no matter what Thunder hit him with, and thus the match went on for what seemed a lifetime to both competitors. Finally, at the thirty-eight minute mark, Thunder connected with an Aethran Power Bomb that put the battered Skull away.

After the final bell, both the new champion and the defeated Skull had to be helped from the ring.  Both would miss more than two weeks of action from the injuries they suffered in the match.

The win gave Thunder his second title reign as Galaxian Heavyweight Champion, the first having come in 2111.  On the day after the card, the Aethran star commented to the media.  "I can't stand Skull. No one can," Thunder said.  "But I have to say that was one of the toughest matches I have ever had.  Nobody can say I didn't earn this belt.  I started to think there was no way to finish him after a while.  So no matter how much I don't like Skull, I'll give him his due. But I did win, and I've got the belt now.  No one is taking it from me."

Skull too had comments a few days after the card.  "If it wasn't for Brute, Thunder wouldn't have beat me.  I was fighting two against one, and I still almost pulled it off.  It was unfair that I had to defend without Tortured Soul there.  But I'll be back, and I'll take the belt again.  Thunder won't always have Brute there to watch his back."

(Note: This was one honestly one of the best matches I have rolled in all of my years playing COTG. Both wrestlers' PINs were at 11 when it finally ended.)

DISASTER CLAIMS SPECIAL MATCHES BELT

The young Aethran powerhouse Disaster won his first title in the GWF when he defeated Wolf for the Special Matches Championship on March 24, 2114 at the Ara Champions Hall in a Hitman Match.  

Krakan, who has no love for Aethrans but whose long-stading hatred for Wolf is well-known, volunteered to put up a bounty for the Hitman Match. Wolf had taken the title from Avalanche a month earlier, but in the match Disaster dominated him from the opening bell.  The contest took only seven minutes before the Aethran powerhouse put Wolf away with a "Rampage" to score the win.

"Another big win for Aethra," Brute, Disaster's bodyguard, said after the match.  "We are showing our dominance again.  Now Thunder and Disaster both have titles. Wait until Malice and Overkill take the the tag team belts from those gladiator wannabes Predator and Wrath, and then we will have total control."

COMMISSIONER MORPHEUS RETIRES LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

GWF Commissioner Morpheus officially retired the Light Heavyweight Championship on April 3, 2114.  The title had been vacant since late 2113.

"This decision makes me a little sad," the commissioner stated.  "We have had some great cruiserweight and light heavyweight champions.  But honestly, no one seems interested in competing for the belt at this point.  So, as of now, we will not be naming a new light heavyweight champ.  Instead, we are looking at some possibilities for another type of title.  I hope to have an announcement in the Coming months."

COSMIC MAYHEM PREVIEW

The GWF will hold its annual Cosmic Mayhem supercard at Polaris Interstellar Stadium on April 14.  Some of the featured matches will be as follows:

Predator and Wrath, who have run up a record of 8-2 on the year, will defend the tag team titles against Malice and Overkill, the team that dealt them their first loss of 2114 in a non-tltle match.  Predator was fighting despite a minor injury when the Aethrans claimed that win.  Malice and Overkill have a 13-3 record on the year.

Disaster will defend the Special Matches Belt against Anarchy in a Cosmic Cage Match.

Interplanetary Champion Terminus will defend against Eclipse, who has a record of 10-3 on the year.

Galaxian Heavyweight Champion Thunder will defend his title against Enigma, who has run up a 1303 record in 2114 nd has dominated most of his matches.

COSMIC MAYHEM 2113

Cosmic Mayhem, the third oldest of the GWF supercards, has been held each year since 2092 at the huge Polaris Interstellar Stadium. The 2114 card took place on April 16 with over 110,000 fans in attendance. The main event was scheduled to be a GWF Heavyweight Championship Match between Thunder and Enigma.  Results of the card were as follows:

Assassin X defeated Wraith
The masked man stopped Wraith with a "Contract Killing."

Atys Tetrak defeated Tanck
Tetrak started the year slowly but earned his sixth straight win on this night by blasting Tanck with a "Heads Will Roll."

The Ravagers defeated Stars & Stripes by disqualification
After an excellent fifteen minute match, U.S. Male was disqualified while attempting a pin save after American Guy went down to the "Ravager Sack."

The Draconian Sheik defeated Archon
In a major upset, the Sheik blasted Archon with a foreign object twice and then applied to "Draconian Backbreaker" on his downed opponent to win the match in less than two minutes.

Max Shield defeated Murdok
Shield had little trouble as he pinned his larger opponent with a "Maximum Impact."

Between matches, Krakan spoke regarding Eclipse's upcoming challenge of Interplanetary Champion Terminus.  "Terminus worked for me many years ago, when he first showed up in the GWF. I know him as well as anyone does.  And Eclipse is at a level above anything Terminus has ever reached.  Eclipse is the new star of this federation, now that he's out from under Nexus' influence, and he'll prove it tonight by winning the Interstellar Title."

Creatures of Lamia defeated Titan Honor
Cyclopes pounded down Blade for six minutes before pinning him with a "Monster Elbow Slam."  Neither Ursa Major nor Turge ever entered the match.

Titan Hardcore Match: Vyper defeated Slayer
Vyper, who is so far enjoying the best year of his career, topped Slayer with a "Vyper's Sideshow" in just three minutes.

Pegasus defeated Encubus
Pegasus had no problem taking down Encubus with three consecutive "Project Pegasus" finishers.

Torture Chamber Match for the Special Matches Title:  Disaster (champion) vs. Anarchy
Anarchy started strong, but eventually the Aethran Powerhouse took over and knocked out his challenger with a series of "Rampage" finishers.

After the match, Disaster took the ring microphone. "I just demonstrated the dominance of the Gladiators," he roared.  "But the night is just getting started.  By the time we're finished on this card, Thunder will keep his belt by destroying Enigma and Malice and Overkill will join us as champions, and everyone will see the total superiority of the Aethrans."

The SWAT Team defeated Desolation Factor
Trench pinned Ruin after a deathjump.

Cosmic Cage Match:  Venom defeated Kill Prey
The rookie Kill Prey had been red hot but fell to a "Snakebite" in this match.

Falls Count Anywhere Match:  Lycanthrope defeated Mandrill
The son of Wolf continued his father's long-standing feud with Mandrill by claiming the win with "The Howling."

Lepus Stun Rod Match:  Scion Nexus defeated Bloodline
Bloodline suffered his first loss since the year-opening Galaxy Cup Tournament when Nexus put him away with "The Apex."

Turnbuckle Shock Match:  Blazing Skill defeated Atman
Skull claimed the win with a "Death by Fire."  Both wrestlers were helped from the ring after the violent match ended.

Interplanetary Title Match.  Terminus (champion)vs. Eclipse
Krakan's prediction proved to be true as Eclipse needed less than four minutes to put away Terminus with a "Deadly Kick Exhibit."  Eclipse won the Interplanetary Belt for the fourth time in his career.

After the match, Krakan called for the ring microphone.  "Okay, Nexus, send your boy Scion out," he taunted.  "I'm sure you'd like to see him as a champion, even though he's a joke like all of your wrestlers.  We're ready any time.  I've led Eclipse to a new level, and this year we're putting away the Titans for good."  The Titans did not take the challenge, and eventually Krakan and Eclipse left the ring.

Twin Blood defeated Rebel Empire
This tag team match was one of the best on the card, lasting for fifteen brutal minutes with both teams shows amazing determination.  It ended when Dreggs was able to lock the "Dreggs of Defeat" on Vendetta to score the win.

Caster Chain Match:  Hyper defeated Genocide
In the latest in the seemingly endless chain of battles between the two former "Alter Ego" members, Hyper pulled off another victory with a "Berserk Pounding Assault."

Mensa Table Match:  Wolf defeated Mensar
In Mensar's signature match, Wolf came out on top with a "Savage Face Claw"

GWF Tag Team Title Match:  Wrath and Predator (champions) vs. Malice and Overkill
This battle between arch-rivals was as intense as expected.  The Gladiators fought well and might have had the match won, but the champions were disqualified during a pin save attempt after Malice had leveled Predator with a "Fields of Malice."  The teams continued to brawl after the bell, with Venom and Disaster arriving to help their Aethran teammates and Wolf and Lycanthrope coming to the aid of Wrath and Predator. The melee lasted for over five minutes, and Malice suffered a serious knee injury that will sideline him for as much as three months.

Galaxian Heavyweight Championship:  Thunder (champion) vs. Enigma
Enigma had scored a non-title win over Thunder a few weeks earlier, but on this night the champion had little trouble as he blasted the masked man with "The Tempest" to claim the win and retain his belt.

After the card, Commissioner Morpheus addressed the brawl that followed the tag team title match.  "I think the Aethrans instigated it,' Morpheus said, "but they've already been penalized, since Malice is going to miss a good share of the War Games now.  But both sides were guilty, so I am suspending Predator, Wrath, Wolf, and Lycanthrope until after the tournaments that open the War Games.  This means both teams will be at a disadvantage in starting the games this year, but that is the cost of a violent brawl like the one we saw tonight."

Spike, the Aethran Minister of War, was furious.  "I've teamed with Predator and Wrath, and Wolf and Lycnthrope for that matter," he said.  "I had respect for them.  But they knew they couldn't handle Malice and Overkill, so they took Malice out of the picture to keep their belts--after getting DQ'd.  They're cowards, and we won't stand for this.  Get ready for a long year, because we're going to take it to them like nothing they've ever seen before."

2114 WAR GAMES ROSTERS ANNOUNCED AT PRESS CONFERENCE

On April 28 at the Denebola Spiral Arm Stadium, GWF Commissioner Morpheus led a press conference to announce the team rosters for the 2114 War Games.  Appearing on stage with Morpheus were Star Warrior, Commander Sam, Bounty Hunter, Lord Nexus, Johnny Rocket, Thantos, Cordanus, Krakan, Maelstrom, Spike, Blazing Skull, and Mandrill.

“The 2113 War Games will follow our traditional format,” the commissioner began. “Any win by pinfall or submission over any opponent will earn one War Games point. A victory by disqualification or countout will in itself earn no points. However, any win over a designated feud opponent will earn an extra point. Winning the GWF Heavyweight Championship or the GWF Tag Team Championships will earn an additional two points, as will successful defenses of those belts by any form of victory. Winning or defending by victory any other official GWF belt, including the War Games Singles and Tag Team Championships, will earn one additional point. Any successful title defense of any belt in which the champion loses by disqualification or countout will earn the champion one point. Finally, in any multi-wrestler elimination match the winning team will earn two points plus two points for each surviving team member at the time the match ends.

"The War Games will conclude at the end of the evening when one team reaches 150 points. If no team reaches that point total before the November 17 card on Deimos, the team in the lead at the end of that card will be declared the winner.

“The maximum number of wrestlers active on any team at any time will be six. Teams may make roster changes up until August 25, at which point the rosters will be frozen.”

"Now," Morpheus continued, "I will ask each team leader to reveal his team's roster for the beginning of the Games.  And I caution you all to maintain decorum.  Lord Nexus, please get us started."

Lord Nexus, Manager, Fighting Titans:  "Thank you, commissioner.  Our roster will include the four men who have been a part of our tram all year:  Scion Nexus, Atman, Blade, and Ursa Major.  In addition, one of Krakan's former followers, Assassin X, as agreed to join us for the War Games."

"Picking up my rejects again, Nexus?" Krakan scoffed.  "It won't help you."

Nexus shook his head. "Assassin X says he's the one who left you.  Not that it matters.  He escaped you, which is what counts."

"Enough," Morpheus barked.  "Let's not start the insults already.  Star Warrior, go ahead."

Star Warrior, manager, The Avenging Warriors:  "Thank you, commissioner.  In addition to our established roster of Pegasus, Enigma, and the SWAT Team, we have added Genocide for the War Games."

"I wondered where Genocide was going to end up," Commander Sam mused.  "But the one I'm really curious about is Mandrill."

"I'm sure we'll get to that," the commissioner said.  "Sam, you're next."

Commander Sam, manager, the Federation Defense Fighters:  "Alright.  My announcement is simple, because our roster hasn't changed.  Archon. Atys Tetrak, Corporal Aegis, and Stars & Stripes will continue as members of the FDF."

"For all the good it will do such a bunch of losers," Krakan mutttered.  

Commander Sam began a retort, but Morpheus cut him off.  "Okay, Krakan," the commissioner said.  "You seem intent on getting thrown out of here, so let's hear your roster before that happens."

Invincible Krakan, manager, The Deadly Militia:  "Going to try to silence me again? What's new?  But very well.  Of course, my men, Eclipse, Mike Fortune, and Tanck, will remain with me.  But I have also reached an agreement to join forces with Mangus and his men.  Maelstrom and the Ravagers will also be joining us for the War Games."

"That's only three of Mangus' men," Nexus commented.  "What about Murdok?"

"Murdok has made other arrangements," Mangus said.  "He is no longer a part of my team."

Cordanus, manager, Takeover:  "I'll tell you where Murdok is going.  He's doing the smart thing and joining Takeover.  So is Hyper.  Those two will join Mensar, Euritar, Rack, and Ruin on the most powerful team in the galaxy."

"Egomaniacs and psychos," Star Warrior noted.

"Says the biggest egomaniac of all? And the guy who manages Pegasus and Enigma?"  Thantos responded.

"Alright, I'm getting tired of the side comments," the commissioner broke in.  "Rocket, you're next."

Johnny Rocket, manager, The Rocket Men:  "Once again we see how much less organized these events are than when I used to run them.  Ok, commissioner, sorry.  Just saying. The Rocketmen will be made up of our standing members, Max Shield, Vyper, and Twin Blood. We have also asked Wraith to join us for the War Games."

"More losers. The Deadly Militia will crush them," Krakan muttered.

"One more time, Krakan.  This is your final warning," Morpheus threatened.  Bounty Hunter, let's hear from you."

Bounty Hunter, manager, The Hunters:  "Our roster is not changing. With Wolf, Lycanthrope, Kill Prey, Predator, and Wrath, we're strong enough to take on anyone, especially the Aethrans."

"Spike, I assume you want to respond," Morpheus said.

Spike, Minister of War, The Gladiators of Aethra:  "Bounty Hunter leads a team of cowards, and they proved it when they put Malice on the shelf. We still have Disaster, Venom, GWF Heavyweight Champion Thunder, and Overkill.  But Overkill needs a tag team partner until Malice can come back. We are not fond of joining up with non-Aethrans, but we have done so before, as Bounty Hunter himself well knows.  So until Malice returns, we have reached agreement for Tarloc to join us.  As you may know, Tarloc wrestled in Deep Space Championship Wrestling last year, but that promotion has now suspended operations. When Tarloc has singles matches, he will be accompanied by his manager, Vascor."

(Note:  Vascor and Tarloc are my own bootlegs and were a very successful tag team in the USWF (my CPC) from 2106 to until 2110.  In 2111 Tarloc began a successful singles career with Vascor as his manager until he was banished from the USWF due to a Sudden Death loss after 2112.)

"Very interesting," Morpheus noted.  "Ok, we're almost there.  Thantos, go ahead."

Thantos, manager, Team Thantos:  "All of you are wasting your time.  With Terminus, Bloodline, Encubus, Nefarus, and Vendetta, we are as always the standard the rest of the teams try and fail to meet."

"OK," Morpheus interrupted.  "That's everyone but the Brymstone team.  And since no one else has claimed Mandrill, as strange as this seems, does that mean . . ."

Blazing Skull, spokesman, Bsymstone Burning:  "Indeed it does.  In addition to myself, Anarchy, Slayer, and the Creatures of Lamia, we have added the power of Mandrill for the War Games."

"Really, Mandrill?" Commander Sam frowned.  "Joining Brymstone? This is low, even for you."

Mandrill rose in his seat.  "Only Blazing Skull was willing to allow Mandrill to be Mandrill, without claiming that I had to follow someone else's lead.  Mandrill follows no one.  But I will lead Brymstone Burning to victory."

Blazing Skull smiled. "No leaders, Mandrill," he said.  "We discussed this.  We all follow our own leads on the Brymstone team."

"I see trouble on the way already for Brymstone Burning." Rocket smirked.

"That's their problem," Commissioner Morpheus said.  "We're finished here.  The War Games will begin on May 11 at Ganymede Stadium for the War Games Singles Tournament.  We will see everyone there."

WAR GAMES BEGIN WITH SURPRISE REUNION

The GWF kicked off its 2114 War Games with the annual tournaments to crown the War Games singles and tag team champions.  The singles tournament was held at Ganymede Stadium of Jupiter on May 11, while the tag team tournament took place three days later on May 14 at the Nereid Starplex of Neptune.

The singles tournament included 37 wrestlers. Each of the ten War Games teams was allowed to enter four competitors, with the exception of the Hunters because four of their five team members were under suspension.  When the tournament ended, Eclipse stood as the new champion, having defeated Terminus in the finals.  Eclipse reached the finals with a semi-final win over Dreggs, who had made a surprisingly successful run in the singles tournament, while Terminus defeated Scion Nexus in the semi-finals.

However, the greatest drama occurred in the tag team tournament.  With Malice injured for an extended period and his temporary replacement Tarloc having suffered a more minor injury on a card just before the War Games, the Gladiators stunned the crowd by reuniting one of the GWF's all-time greatest tag teams, Thunder and Overkill.  While the Aethrans are hardly a popular team, the crowd went crazy when the Gladiator duo made its entrance for their first-round match with Rebel Empire.  The Gladiators won that match and then took down the Ravagers in the quarter-finals, but the most deafening roar from the fans came when they blasted Wraith with their "Decapitator" finisher to stop Wraith and Max Shield in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Twin Blood, who entered the tournament with a nine match winning streak but with Dreggs having suffered a minor injury in the singles tournament, went through Titan Honor, the Creatures of Lamia, and Desolation Factor to reach the finals.  Thus, the tag team championship match pitted Thunder and Overkill against their oldest rival, Dreggs, and his brother Sleeze.  Unfortunately for the Rocketmen, Dreggs' injury finally caught up with him and he was pinned by Thunder with an Aethran power Bomb, giving the Gladiators the War Games Tag Team Belts.

Tournament Notes:

• Dreggs put on an amazing run in the singles tournament by defeating Euritar, Disaster, and Encubus to reach the semi-finals.  However, his win over Disaster came by disqualification when Brute attacked him because he seemed to have the match won, and he suffered an injury in the assault by the Aethrans.
• Even more surprising was the performance of American Guy in the singles tournament, as he defeated GWF Heavyweight Champion Thunder and then Mensar before losing to Terminus in the quarterfinals.  
• On the whole, the singles tournament may have been the most physical and violent ever held.  Numerous wrestlers suffered minor injuries, with Dreggs, American Guy, Blazing Skull, and Bloodline all having to carry that disadvantage into the tag team tournament.
• The loss by Twin Blood in the tournament final ended their winning streak at twelve, tied for second longest in federation history behind their own sixteen match win streak in 2108. Other teams that have reach twelve consecutive wins include Brute and Massacre (2092-3), Defiance (2080), the New Order (2100), Paladin Power (2109), Thunder and Overkill (2106), and X-Termination (2103-4).

COMMISSIONER ISSUES A WARNING
Shortly before the GWF War Games Singles Tournament on Jupiter, GWF Commissioner Morpheus made the following statement regarding the status of Skinhead:  "Skinhead is not on a War Games team, so I don't think he is here.  But I'm not sure he would have been here anyway, since he's failed to show up for matches three times this year already.  So I want to make this clear to him and everyone else:  I am not going to tolerate his failures to appear.  If it keeps up, he is not going to like the action I take."

ECLIPSE INJURED IN WILD WAR GAMES OPENER

Eclipse, holder of both the Interplanetary Championship and the War Games Singles Title, was badly injured in a title defense against Scion Nexus on the first regular card of the 2114 War Games at the Titan Sportatorium on May 20.

Eclipse won the match against his former teammate by pinfall, but after the final bell he attempted to continue his attack. Nexus fight back, and in the melee that ensued the champion suffered badly strained ligaments in his knee. He is expected to miss two months or more of action.

Given the severity of the injury, Commissioner Morpheus was forced to vacate both the Interplanetary and War Games Singles titles. The commissioner did not suspend Scion Nexus, noting that Eclipse had begun the attack and that Nexus was primarily defending himself.

Eclipse had been on a tremendous roll on recent cards, with the victory over Nexus giving him his sixth consecutive win, and Krakan's Deadly Militia team had jumped out to an early War Games lead due largely to his success.  After the card, Krakan expressed his frustration and anger.

"Do you think it's a coincidence that this happened on Titan?" the Deadly Militia leader spat.  "Do you think it's a coincidence that it happened against Nexus? If you do, you're idiots. And the commissioner doesn't even suspend Nexus for it.  It's ridiculous.  We were rolling in the War Games.  Eclipse was dominating everyone.  Now we're without our star, we lose two belts at once, and we're just generally screwed.  But things won't end like this.  Just wait.  I always get my revenge, and this will be no exception.  It may even be time for me to take Nexus out for good."

GLADIATORS, TAKEOVER HOLD EARLY WAR GAMES LEAD

With the War Games only a few weeks old, the Gladiators of Aethra and Cordanus' Takeover team share a slight early lead.  Krakan's Militia has slipped from first place after Eclipse's injury but remains near the top. The Avenging Warriors and the Fighting Titans have fallen farthest off the pace. Current standings are as follows:

War Games Notes:
Thunder and Overkill, reunited as a tag team for the first time in five years due to Malice's injury, remain unbeaten with six straight wins and continue to hold the War Games Tag team Titles . . . The same card on which Eclipse suffered his knee damage on Titan saw an incredible total of 16 wrestlers injured, which has slowed the progress of the War Games significantly . . . The Gladiators have been less than happy with the performance of Malice's temporary replacement, Tarloc, who is 1-3 in singles matches. Tarloc and Overkill also lost their only tag team outing . . . Wraith has performed exceptionally well for the Rocketmen, winning three straight . . . The success of the Takeover team has been largely due to Mensar, who is on perhaps his best streak since joining the GWF. The big Mensan has won all three of this matches since the War Games began, including a non-title victory over GWF Heavyweight Champion Thunder and an incredible comeback win against Genocide in his most recent contest.
