THUNDER DEFENDS GWF TITLE AT BURNING FURYThe GWF held its newest supercard, Burning Fury, at the Lava Ruins of Brymstone on June 15, 2114. Burning Fury replaces the Deep Space Showcase, which had been the GWF's only supercard that changed locations each year. Results from the inaugural Burning Fury were as follows.
Tocsin defeated Assassin X The former Colonizer upset the masked man with a "Sentry Stunner."
Venom defeated Wraith In a tough back-and-forth match, Venom claimed the victory with a Gladiator Piledriver. Wraith suffered his first loss in five matches since the beginning of the War Games.
Stars & Stripes defeated Rebel Empire The FDF team scored a big victory when American Guy pinned Vendetta with an "American Firepower."
Nightmare Matrix Match: Slayer defeated Blade Slayer is off to a terrible start in his first year in the GWF., but on this day he hammered Blade with a "Brotherhood Deathblow" to get the pin.
Mandrill defeated Euritar The Prime Colonizer stopped his quicker opponent with a "Colonizer Claw Slam."
Twin Blood defeated Tarloc and Overkill by disqualification The Aethrans have been less than satisfied with Tarloc's performance as a fill-in for the injured Malice, and he did not make the impression better when he was disqualified in a brawl on the floor to give Twin Blood the win.
Encubus defeated Corporal Aegis Encubus won the match with a "Second Coming." The two wrestlers continued to brawl after the final bell, and the winner suffered moderate injuries. Commissioner Grogan suspended Aegis for two weeks for the incident.
Titan Hardcore Match for the Special Matches Championship: Disaster (champlon) vs, Anarchy Disaster had looked unstoppable in his first three defenses of the special matches title, but on this night Anarchy completely dominated him and pinned him with a "Gehenna's Gate" to take the belt for the second time in his career.
War Games Tag Team Titles: The Ravagers (champions) vs. The Creatures of Lamia The Ravagers had won the belts from Thunder and Overkill on the previous card. On this night they had no problem with the Brymstone team as Ventross hit the "Vivisection" on Cyclopes in just two minutes.
Earth Ladder Match: Vyper defeated Bloodline Vyper claimed the win in this tough back and forth contest.
Interplanetary Championship: Hyper vs. the Draconian Sheik This match was the finals of a sixteen wrestler tournament to fill the Interplanetary Belt, which had been vacated when Eclipse was injured at the beginning of the War Games. The two finalists were a surprise, as Hyper defeated Bloodline in the semi-finals and the Sheik got by Euritar. The title match was an evenly matched affair until Hyper blasted the Sheik into a ringpost and pinned him to claim the belt. The win gave Hyper his first singles title since his separation from Genocide.
Lepus Stun Rod Match: Maelstrom defeated Scion Nexus Maelstrom, a temporary member of Krakan's Deadly Militia for the War Games, dominated Nexus and pinned him after a guillotine on the ropes.
Falls Count Anywhere Match: Atys Tetrak defeated Mensar In a battle of two red-hot wrestlers, Tetrak controlled most of the action and won the match with a "Code Crowbar."
Scorpi King of the Ring Match: Blazing Skull defeated Archon This match was brutal and disturbing to watch. Skull took over early in the contest and beat Archon senseless, hitting his helpless opponent with no less than five "Death by Fires." Skull appeared to have no interest in ending the match and continued it long beyond the point at which he could have won it. The massacre finally ended when Commander Sam ran to the ring and threw in a towel to indicate Archon's surrender.
(Note: Archon's pin was at 17 when the match finally ended. Skull just never rolled "out of the ring.")
Battlezone Match: Wrath, Predator, Wolf, and Kill Prey defeated Genocide, Pegasus, Enigma, and Trench This special War Games contest was a back-and-forth affair with Wrath ending up as the sole survivor. Order of elimination was as follows: Pegasus over Kill Prey, Wolf over Pegasus by countout, Wolf over Genocide, Enigma over Wolf, Enigma over Predator, Wrath over Enigma, Wrath over Trench.
GWF Heavyweight Championship: Thunder (champion) vs. Max Shield Shield had earned this opportunity with a non-title win over the champion, and the rematch was a terrific fifteen minute battle. Shield put up a tremendous fight, and both wrestlers were beaten down badly, but Thunder finally got the win with a "Tempest."
After the card, Commissioner Morpheus addressed the match between Blazing Skull and Archon. "I'm told Archon will probably be out for at least a month," the commissioner said. "What Skull did was clearly unnecessary and sadistic. Unfortunately, it was also legal. We all know the history between Archon and Skull, and we all know how dangerous a King of the Ring match is. Archon knew what he was getting into. If Skull had continued after the bell it would be different, but he did all of his damage as part of the match, so I can't really suspend him. Archon is going to have to get his own payback for this one."
GLADIATORS EXTEND WAR GAMES LEAD The Gladiators of Aethra have moved further out in front in the 2114 War Games, while the Hunters have moved up significantly and the Avenging Warriors continue to bring up the rear. Current standings as of June 20 are as follows:
WAR GAMES STANDINGS 1. The Gladiators of Aethra (Thunder, Disaster, Venom, Overkill, Tarloc, Malice): 37 points 2. Takeover (Mensar, Euritar, Murdok, Hyper, Desolation Factor): 29 points 3T. Brymstone Burning (Blazing Skull, Anarchy, Mandrill, Slayer, Creatures of Lamia): 27 points 3T. Team Thantos (Terminus, Bloodline, Encubus, Rebel Empire): 27 points 5. The Hunters (Wolf, Kill Prey, Lycanthrope, Predator, Wrath): 26 points 6. Krakan's Deadly Militia (Eclipse, Fortune, Tanck, Maelstrom, the Ravagers): 25 points 7. The Rocketmen (Max Shield, Vyper, Wraith, Twin Blood): 22 points 8. The Federation Defense Fighters (Archon, Aegis, Atys Tetrak, Stars & Stripes): 18 points 9. The Fighting Titans: (Scion Nexus, Atman, Assassin X, Titan Honor): 13 points 10. The Avenging Warriors (Pegasus, Enigma, Genocide, SWAT Team): 12 points
War Games Notes: The Games continue to be hampered by injuries. Every team has had wrestlers miss multiple cards . . . Commissioner Morpheus has announced that the War Games Singles Title, which had to be vacated when Eclipse was injured, will be awarded to the winner of a match between the final two wrestlers Eclipse defeated in the War Games Singles Tournament, Terminus and Dreggs . . . Thunder and Overkill successfully defended the War Games Tag Belts twice before losing them to the Ravagers . . . Tarloc, the Gladiators' replacement for the injured Malice, has been highly unsuccessful, winning only one singles match. He and Overkill have lost in both of their tag team efforts.
(Note: Venom, Tarloc, Lycanthrope, Predator, and Wrath are my own bootlegs. Assassin X is from the GWFZ Promoter Madness set.)

WILD NIGHT IN BOOTES ENDS IN TITLE CHANGEA series of stunning events took place on a GWF War Games card at the Arcturus Parthenon of Bootes on July 16, 2114. When it was over, the GWF had a new heavyweight champion. The first eventful moment of the evening happened when Skinhead failed to appear for his match with Wolf. The onetime Citadel of the Elite star has no-showed several times in 2114. Commissioner Morpheus marched to the ring and took a microphone. "I've had enough," he stated. "Skinhead, wherever you are, this is your final warning. The next time you decide not to show up, don't bother coming back at all. The next time you no-show, you're fired." The commissioner then named Tortured Soul as a replacement opponent for Wolf, who quickly put the zombie away. Two consecutive matches ended in brawls that led to serious injuries. First, after Kill Prey defeated Murdok, Hyper and Euritar ran to the ring to help the powerhouse from Centra attack the winner, but Wolf and Lycanthrope immediately came to Kill Prey's aid. In the ensuing brawl, Murdok suffered a broken leg and a dislocated wrist. He is expected to miss several months of action, perhaps the remainder of the year.In the next match, Venom got a win over Lycanthrope. Another brawl followed the final bell, with Malice and Overkill joining their Aethran partner in battling Lycanthrope, Wolf, and Kill Prey. Venom suffered an injury in the fray that may keep him out of action for as much as two months. As a result of the two out of control melees, Commissioner Morpheus suspended Wolf, Kill Prey, and Lycanthrope for five weeks.Later on the card, Malice made his return to the ring after missing three months with an injury, joining Overkill in a dominating win over Animan Invasion. After the match, Brute climbed into the ring and called for a microphone, asking the remaining members of the Gladiator team--Thunder, Disaster, and Tarloc--to join him. When all of the available team members were present, Brute spoke to Tarloc."Well, Tarloc, that's how you take care of those punks," Brute began, referencing the fact that Tarloc and Overkill had lost to the Animen on the previous two cards. "You've been with us filling in for Malice since the beginning of the War Games, and now that Malice is back, I think its time for us to show our appreciation." Suddenly Malice clotheslined Tarloc in the back of his head. Overkill and Malice then picked the fallen big man up, his arms pinned to his sides, as Brute continued. "But there's just not much to appreciate. You were terrible. We knew you were no Aethran, but we thought you could at least help. But you're worthless, and we're about to show you just how we treat inferior trash like you."With that, all five Aethrans began a brutal beatdown of their former partner. Fortunately for Tarloc, Commander Sam led the members of the FDF to the ring to break up the assault before permanent damage could be done, but Tarloc had to be helped from the ring. However, the Gladiators did not know that the drama of the evening had not ended. In the main event, GWF Heavyweight Champion Thunder squared off against Mensar. The title contest was a terrific battle, with both men taking significant damage and both managers, Brute and Cordanus, interfering at various points. Finally Mensar connected with a "Wrecking Machine." Thunder, who was bloodied and dazed by this time, valiantly kicked out, but Mensar followed up immediately with another "Wrecking Machine," and this time the champion could not escape.Mensar thus won his first championship since joining the GWF. Thunder's second reign as heavyweight champion lasted for four months and eight successful defenses,"Finally, Mensar is on top where he should be," Cordanus crowed after the card. "This has been a long time coming. Finally our domination of the GWF has begun, and now no one will be able to stand against us."SURPRISE LEADERS IN GWF WAR GAMES Brymstone Burning has overtaken the Gladiators to become the unexpected leaders of the 2114 GWF War Games as of July 16. Takeover has also made a strong run at the top. Complete current standings are as follows: WAR GAMES STANDINGS1. Brymstone Burning (Blazing Skull, Anarchy, Mandrill, Slayer, Creatures of Lamia): 62 points 2. The Gladiators of Aethra (Thunder, Disaster, Venom, Overkill, Malice): 57 points 3. Takeover (Mensar, Euritar, Murdok, Hyper, Desolation Factor): 54 points 4. The Hunters (Wolf, Kill Prey, Lycanthrope, Predator, Wrath):45 points 5T. The Federation Defense Fighters (Archon, Aegis, Atys Tetrak, Stars & Stripes): 38 points 5T. The Rocketmen (Max Shield, Vyper, Wraith, Twin Blood): 38 points 7. Team Thantos (Terminus, Bloodline, Encubus, Rebel Empire): 35 points 8. Krakan's Deadly Militia (Eclipse, Fortune, Tanck, Maelstrom, the Ravagers): 32 points 9. The Avenging Warriors (Pegasus, Enigma, Genocide, SWAT Team): 29 points 10. The Fighting Titans: (Scion Nexus, Atman, Assassin X, Titan Honor): 19 points War Games Notes: The Draconian Sheik became the Interplanetary Champion for the fifth time in his career, taking the belt from Hyper on July 10 at the Mira Ceti War Memorial . . . A big reason for Brymstone Burning's success was an incredible performance by Cyclopes in a Battlezone Match against Krakan's Deadly Militia. The one-eyed monster defeated Mike Fortune, Maelstrom, Rankor, and Ventross in order to score 12 points by himself for his team . . . On the same card, Turge suffered a horrible knee injury in a match against Blade. He is expected to miss the reminder of 2114 . . . The Hunters have made a strong run toward the top, but the recent suspensions to Wolf, Kill Prey, and Lycanthrope will slow their progress . . . Desolation Factor currently holds the War Games Tag Team Titles, while Euritar is the War Games singles champion, and their performance, along with that of the new GWF Heavyweight Champion Mensar, has boosted Takeover in the standings. (Note: Venom, Tarloc, Lycanthrope, Predator, and Wrath are my own bootlegs. Assassin X is from the GWFZ Promoter Madness set.)

WAR GAMES ROSTER CHANGES ANNOUNCED AT STARCLASH On August 22, 2114, the day before the annual Starclash supercard, GWF Commissioner Morpheus called a press conference in the Deimos Intergalactic Arena press room. Appearing on stage with him were Spike, Commander Sam, Star Warrior, Bounty Hunter, and Lord Nexus. "I want to thank you all for being here," the commissioner began. "As you all know, Starclash is our oldest supercard and our biggest event of the year. We are very excited about tomorrow's card. As has been previously announced, Thunder will receive his rematch against Mensar for the Galaxian Heavyweight Championship. Twin Blood will defend the GWF Tag Team Championships against Desolation Factor. Archon will have his chance at revenge for the injuries Blazing skull inflicted on him the last time they met. And we have many more matches that will make for a great card. "Today, however, the men on stage with me are here to announce changes to their War Games rosters. We will start with Spike, speaking for the Gladiators of Aethra." "As you saw recently, we disposed of Tarloc because he was useless to our team," the Aethran Minister of War said. "However, we could still use a boost. We are therefore bringing in a new man. He is a young Aethran named Heathen. We believe he is ready for GWF action, and we're going to give him a chance to prove it." (Note: Heathen is a bootleg from the AAW Aethran Aftermath 2124 set by Chuck Clouser and Ray DeGarmo.)Next, the commissioner called on Commander Sam. "The Aethrans may think they are done with Tarloc," Sam said. "But they'e wrong. Tarloc is joining the FDF for the rest of the War Games, and he is pretty motivated to go after the Gladiators after what they did to him. We welcome him to our team." (Note: Tarloc is my own bootleg. For the story of the Gladiators' attack on him, see my previous post in this thread.)Bounty Hunter spoke next. "We got wind of the Aethrans adding a man, so the Hunters will counter with our own addition," he stated. "But our new man is someone you all know. We haven't seen him for a while, but he's an old friend of some of our wrestlers, so we made a call and convinced him to come. We welcome former USWF Champion Black Hawk to our team." (Note: Black Hawk is my own bootleg and was a long-time star in the USWF, my version of the CPC.)Next, Lord Nexus took the microphone. "Things have not gone the Titans' way in these war games," he began. "But we have a new addition that will help us change that. He is a Titan, but his style goes back to the old days of men like Moonstrike and Solar Flare. And there is good reason for that: he's Moonstrike's son, and he has taken a ring name to honor his father. We welcome Moonstorm to the GWF." (Note: Moonstorm is actually the Lord Nexus card from the 30th Anniversary pack. The card is just too cool not to use.)Finally, Star Warrior stepped forward. "All of those additions are impressive, but I think we're going to make the biggest splash," he smiled. "We need some help, and I knew of someone who was having tough year both personally and professionally elsewhere. His break with his father and his difficult feud with Death Knight II have made him want a new start, and we are happy to have him. Welcome former USWF Heavyweight Champion Jack of Diamonds to the Avenging Warriors team." (Note: For the story of Jack's problems with Exo-King and Death Knight II, see my USWF thread through the link at the bottom of his post.)The media was stunned. Black Hawk was a major star, Tarloc was known as a top-level athlete, and Heathen and Moonstorm sounded impressive. But Jack of Diamonds had held the USWF Championship for nearly an entire year just a year ago. The addition of a wrestler of his caliber promised to change the face of the War Games. TAG BELTS CHANGE HANDS AT WHIRLPOOL ARMORYTwin Blood became eight time GWF tag team champions by defeating Predator and Wrath at the Whirlpool Armory on July 21. The champions dominated the match, hammering Dreggs into near submission and refusing to let Sleeze tag in. However, after Wrath had hit a move that looked to give his team the match, a brawl broke out when Sleeze attempted a pin save. In the confusion, Twin Blood knocked Predator out of the ring and then put down Wrath to claim the win and the belts.
After the match, both Predator and Wrath were angry. "I've been friends with those guys for a while," Predator said, "but that was a pretty cheap way to win the titles. But it's ok. We'll be back after them soon, and we'll take the belts back."
Wrath, as usual, was less diplomatic. "It was a fluke and a cowardly way to get the pin," he stormed. "A double team on a pin save? Give me a break. Let them take me down one on one, or at least to my face, and then I'll believe it. Until then, their title reign is on borrowed time."
On the same card, Skinhead failed to appear for his match with Soulwatcher. Commissioner Morpheus acted immediately. "I warned him," Morpheus said. "I'm done. He's fired. Someone tell him not to come back. We don't need him. I will not be booking any more matches for him." STRANGE EXPERIENCE FOR ARCHON Archon, recently returned from the injuries inflicted on him by Blazing Skull that had put him out of action for a month, reported a strange experience in his match with Tortured Soul at the Eureka Asteroid Arena on August 1. Archon seemed to be winning the match when the action went to the arena floor. Suddenly Archon seemed to become distracted and disoriented, and Tortured Soul was able to roll him into the ring and clamp on the "Rotting Claw" for the upset win. However, after the match, the loss was not Archon's main concern. "I can't explain it. I've fought him before. He's a zombie. But all of a sudden, this time, I looked into his eyes, and Vulcepa was in there," the star from Centaurus said, referring to his former comrade who had been killed by the Brymstone army and converted into Tortured Soul. "I saw my friend. I felt he was there. I've always assumed he was lost when they made him into that undead thing, but I felt like some part of him was there tonight. I don't know what to think, but if something of Vulcepa is still in there, I'm going to find a way to save him." BRYMSTONE BURNING MAINTAINS WAR GAMES LEAD Brymstone Burning continues to impress in the 2114 War Games, having held their lead on their nearest competition, Takeover. Once again an outstanding performance in a Battlezone match helped to boost the Brymstone team's score, as temporary team member Mandrill took out Mensar, Euritar, Hyper, and Ruin to put away the Takeover team on his own after Cyclopes and Anarchy had been eliminated. WAR GAMES STANDINGS1. Brymstone Burning (Blazing Skull, Anarchy, Mandrill, Slayer, Creatures of Lamia): 90 points 2. Takeover (Mensar, Euritar, Murdok, Hyper, Desolation Factor): 86 points 3. The Gladiators of Aethra (Thunder, Disaster, Venom, Overkill, Malice, Heathen): 75 points 4. The Rocketmen (Max Shield, Vyper, Wraith, Twin Blood): 61 points 5. The Federation Defense Fighters (Archon, Aegis, Atys Tetrak, Tarloc, Stars & Stripes): 56 points 6. The Hunters (Wolf, Kill Prey, Lycanthrope, Predator, Wrath, Black Hawk):52 points 7. Krakan's Deadly Militia (Eclipse, Fortune, Tanck, Maelstrom, the Ravagers): 49 points 8. Team Thantos (Terminus, Bloodline, Encubus, Rebel Empire): 46 points 9. The Avenging Warriors (Pegasus, Enigma, Genocide, Jack of Diamonds, SWAT Team): 42 points 10. The Fighting Titans: (Scion Nexus, Atman, Assassin X, Titan Honor, Moonstorm): 37 points (Note: Venom, Tarloc, Lycanthrope, Black Hawk, Predator, and Wrath are my own bootlegs. Assassin X is from the GWFZ Promoter Madness set. Moonstorm is actually the Lord Nexus card from the 30th Anniversary pack. Heathen is a bootleg from the AAW Aethran Aftermath 2124 set by Chuck Clouser and Ray DeGarmo.)

The write-ups reminds me of the old newsletters promoters would share via 'snail mail' way back in the day. I love the aesthetic. I also like that you've made WAR GAMES a thing in your GWF similar to how Sudden Death became an event that the GWF would run every so often. It'd be cool to see Tom bring the WAR GAMES concept back at some point.

And yeah, I have done the War Games every year in both my GWF and my USWF (my version of the CPC, though it predates the CPC by ten game years) except for a couple of times I did Sudden Death. The War Games sets were my favorites Tom ever put out, so I pretty much just stuck with the concept.

It'd be cool to see Tom bring the WAR GAMES concept back at some point. Yeah, they are pretty similar to the way I used to do my newsletters. That's an interesting observation. And yeah, I have done the War Games every year in both my GWF and my USWF (my version of the CPC, though it predates the CPC by ten game years) except for a couple of times I did Sudden Death. The War Games sets were my favorites Tom ever put out, so I pretty much just stuck with the concept. I'm in agreement with you on War Games being a favorite. Tom and Chuck were at the top of their game during that trilogy. Art-wise I think INVASION 2090 was Chuck's best overall, but WAR GAMES introduced so many awesome characters into the game that I don't know if Tom could of ever topped it.

STARCLASH XXVIII The GWF's twenty-eighth annual Starclash event took place on August 23, 2114 at the Deimos Intergalatic Arena. Starclash is the oldest and most prestigious of the GWF supercards, having first been presented in 2087. Full results of the card were as follows: Blade defeated Slayer
The supercard kicked off with Blade knocking out Slayer with the "Blade of Retribution." Scion Nexus defeated MinotaurNexus, wrestling in the GWF for the first time in a month due to a suspension, made quick work of the Animan with "The Apex" Wraith defeated Moonstorm The newest member of the Titans made his debut in this match but could never get any offense going and was finally pinned after an "Out of Nowhere DDT." Aegis defeated HeathenIn another debut match, Aegis put away the newest Gladiator with a "lethal jump kick" after nailing him with two "Opening Salvos." "Not a good start," Brute commented after Heathen's loss. "He's young, but he's going to need to step up and learn fast. Losing to someone like Aegis is not acceptable." Lepus Stun Rod Match: Black Hawk defeated Tarloc Two years earlier this match could have been a main event in the USWF, as these two stars battled in big matches many times in that federation. This contest was a solid battle for eight minutes until Black Hawk knocked his opponent out with the stun rod. Rebel Empire defeated Star & StripesVendetta was beaten down early and seemed to be in serious trouble. After seven minutes Nefarus tagged in and turned the tide, and soon U. S. Male fell to a "Colonizer Dropkick." Castor Chain Match: Mandrill defeated Atys Tetrak Mandrill started 2114 hot and then fell into a terrible slump, but he appears to be back on track. In addition to an incredible performance in a recent Battlezone match in which he defeated four opponents, the powerful Animan earned his fourth straight victory in this match by blasting Tetrak with three straight "Colonizer Claw Slams." "I'm back where I should be," Mandrill bragged after the match. "No one can compare to Mandrill. It's time for me to get back into the title picture. I want to be GWF Champion again, and I'll do whatever it takes to get there no matter who has the belt." Lava Pit Match: Terminus defeated VyperFighting in the artificial environment, Terminus took just four minutes to climb out of the pit after an "Aran Power Drop." Encubus defeated AtmanAtman had been red hot since returning from an injury, but Encubus pulled off the upset in this match with a "Second Coming." War Games Singles Championship Match: Disaster (champion) vs. BloodlineThe Aethran powerhouse defended his War Games Belt successfully by completely dominating Bloodline for five minutes before burying him with a "Rampage." Earth Ladder Match for the Special Matches Title: Anarchy (champion) vs. Assassin X Anarchy had successfully defended the special matches title four times coming into this match, and the contest was a wild affair that lasted for ten tough minutes before Assassin X knocked the champion down and climbed the ladder to claim the belt. Assassin X thus became the Special Matches Champion for the first time. "That was impressive," noted Lord Nexus, Assassin X's manager, after the match. "That young man has talent. I wasn't sure about adding him to the Titans at first, but he's been a good teammate, and performances like this show he can contribute. He's going to go places." Battlezone Match: The Avenging Warriors defeated Krakan's Deadly MilitiaThis match featured one of the most amazing performances of the year. Trench and Rankor started for their teams and battled for fifteen minutes before Trench got the win. Tanck entered next for the Militia and quickly put away Trench. Tanck then continued his success by pulling off a shocking upset of Enigma. Warfare entered next for the Warriors and took seven minutes to pin Tanck, suffering significant damage in the effort. Eclipse came in next for the Militia and inflicted even more damage on Warfare, but the big man from Centra stunned the high-flyer by pinning him for the upset. Warfare was by this time bleeding and battered, but he nevertheless managed to eliminate Ventross, then Mike Fortune, and finally Maelstrom, taking out five of the six Militia members on his own and scoring the huge War Games victory for his team. Jack of Diamonds had been scheduled to make his debut as a member of the Avenging Warriors, but Jack, Pegasus, and Genocide never entered the match due to Warfare's incredible performance. Interplanetary Championship Match: Draconian Sheik vs. EuritarThe Sheik had stunned the GWF by not only winning the Interplanetary Title again after so many years but by then defending it successfully against Genocide, Bloodline, and Max Shield. On this night, however, Euritar put an end to the Sheik's title run, stopping him with an underhook suplex in just three minutes. Euritar thus became the Interplanetary Champion for the second time, the first having come in 2109 when, coincidentally, he also took the belt from the Sheik. Titan Hardcore Match: Max Shield defeated HyperShield dominated Hyper in this match, battering him for six minutes before connecting with the "Omicron Force." Cosmic Cage Tag Team Match: Predator and Wrath defeated Malice and Overkill This contest was the first meeting of these arch-rivals since Predator and Wrath had seriously injured Malice more than three months earlier. The action went back-and-forth several times before Wrath finally managed to pin Malice with a "Reprisal." The two teams continued to brawl after the bell, but no serious injuries were suffered this time. "This proves nothing," Malice stormed after the match. "Those two half-breeds can't compare to us. We're going to crush them. The Gladiators want an Ultimate Escape Match on Aethra at the Wardome Warfare supercard. We're going to destroy their entire team." Torture Chamber Match: Blazing Skull defeated Archon
The last time these two wrestlers met, Archon was carried from the ring after a brutal and one-sided Four Weapons of Destruction Match. This ten minute contest was a much closer battle, with Archon controlling the action early and bloodying Skull badly. However, Skull fought back and eventually managed to stop Archon with a series of "Death by Fires," claiming yet another victory over his long-time rival. GWF Tag Team Championship: Twin Blood (Champions) vs. Desolation FactorTwin Blood took control of this match early and kept Ruin in the ring for over six minutes, hammering him repeatedly with their finishers. Rack and the challengers' manager Cordanus prevented the pin several times, and eventually Rack tagged in, but his partner was clearly in no condition to help him. Rack therefore blasted Dreggs with a chair in a melee outside the ring, causing the disqualification and allowing Twin Blood to retain their titles. Galaxian Heavyweight Championship: Mensar (champion) vs. ThunderMensar had taken the title from Thunder a month earlier, but on this night Thunder was unstoppable. Mensar never really managed any offense as the Aethran challenger pummeled him for nearly nine minutes. Cordanus did all he could to interfere and save the title for Mensar, but he could not prevent Thunder from pinning the big Mensan with a double underhook DDT to reclaim the title. Thunder thus became GWF Heavyweight Champion for the third time in his career. "Mensar is strong, but he's not quick enough or good enough to handle me," Thunder smiled after his win. "Losing to him was a temporary setback. The belt is back where it should be now. And if Mandrill wants to issue challenges, tell him to come and find me. He's lost a step. He's nothing now, and I'll be happy to prove it." POST-STARCLASH WAR GAMES UPDATE Brymstone Burning continues to lead in the 2114 War Games, but Warfare's performance at Starclash helped the Avenging Warriors jump up in the standings. The Rocketmen and the Federation Defense Fights have also made strong pushes recently, and even the Titans have shown some life. The Hunters continue to suffer from suspensions to Wolf, Kill Prey, and Lycnathrope. The suspensions will end two weeks after Starclash WAR GAMES STANDINGS1. MENSAR REGAINS GALAXIAN TITLE FROM THUNDER The Galaxian Heavyweight Championship changed hands for the fourth time in 2114 on September 20 at the Gemma Golden Crown Arena as Mensar defeated Thunder to reclaim the title. Mensar appeared to be at a disadvantage in the match, as his manager, Cordanus, was under suspension and was not in the arena. However, the big challenger took control early and kept Thunder from scoring any serious blows. After a brief melee outside the ring at the six minute mark, Mensar rolled the champion back in and dropped him with a "Wrecking Machine." Spike, who was at ringside with Thunder, tried to distract the referee but was unsuccessful, and Mensar thus won the GWF's biggest prize for the second time in slightly over two months. "Thunder taking the title from me last month was a fluke and nothing more," the new champion said after the card. "I've taken this belt away from him twice this year now. I've proven that I'm the strongest force in this federation. No one can compare with me, and no one can claim I needed help from Cordanus or anyone. I am back on top, ad this is where I plan to stay." BRYMSTONE BURNING CONTINUES TO LEAD WAR GAMES The Brymstone Burning team remains in first place in the 2114 War Games as of September 20. However, several of the teams further down in the standings have begun to climb, as the three leading groups all lost battlezone matches in the past few cards and thus failed to increase their point totals as significantly as the teams that defeated them. Brymstone Burning fell to the Avenging Warriors thanks to a terrific performance by Genocide and Jack of Diamonds, the Titans pulled off a huge upset of the Gladiators, and the Federation Defense Fighters stopped Takeover. Team Thantos also scored a huge win over the Hunters as Nefarus took down Wolf, Predator, and Kill Prey and Vendetta followed up with stunning wins over Black Hawk and Wrath to give Team Thantos a near sweep. Complete current standings are as follows: WAR GAMES STANDINGS 1. Brymstone Burning (Blazing Skull, Anarchy, Mandrill, Slayer, Creatures of Lamia): 116 points 2. Takeover (Mensar, Euritar, Murdok, Hyper, Desolation Factor): 101 points 3. The Gladiators of Aethra (Thunder, Disaster, Venom, Overkill, Malice, Heathen): 98 points 4. The Rocketmen (Max Shield, Vyper, Wraith, Twin Blood): 87 points 5. The Avenging Warriors (Pegasus, Enigma, Genocide, Jack of Diamonds, SWAT Team): 84 points 6. Team Thantos (Terminus, Bloodline, Encubus, Rebel Empire): 83 points 7. The Federation Defense Fighters (Archon, Aegis, Atys Tetrak, Tarloc, Stars & Stripes): 78 points 8. Krakan's Deadly Militia (Eclipse, Fortune, Tanck, Maelstrom, the Ravagers): 73 points 9. The Hunters (Wolf, Kill Prey, Lycanthrope, Predator, Wrath, Black Hawk): 70 points 10. The Fighting Titans: (Scion Nexus, Atman, Assassin X, Titan Honor, Moonstorm): 66 points (Note: Venom, Tarloc, Lycanthrope, Black Hawk, Predator, and Wrath are my own bootlegs.
