My son Matthew aka Stryker shared these with me on the ride to Chicago, and then again with attendees once there and everyone thought they were very good. If you get the seal of approval from mikefortune , then you've REALLY done something.
The first being the (pw) (ag) rule
If the opponent has better (pw) or (ag) when a move is rolled, then the move fails EVERY time. When you think about it, it doesn't make sense ALL the time.
Matt's rule is very simple.
The most common roll on two dice is 7, so take the difference between the two (pw) or (ag) and subtract from 7 and that's what you need to roll for the move to work.
i.e.
My (pw) or (ag) is -1 and yours is a -3, that's a difference of 2 (7-2=5) roll a 5 or less and the move works.
My (pw) or (ag) is a +3 and yours is a -3, that's a difference of 6 (7-6=1) automatically works because you can't roll a 1 on two dice.
Works the same when you have better (pw) or (ag), you just add rather than subtract.
i.e.
My (pw) or (ag) is -2 and yours is a 0, difference of 2 (7+2=9) roll a 9 or less and move works.
The next two involve tag team wrestling.
Matthew doesn't think it makes sense when you have to roll the same die roll for level 3 defense as you do for 2 or 1. He's right!!! How efficently can you tag when you're down on the matt?
House rule
level 1 defense - roll 6 or less
level 2 defence - roll 5 or less
level 3 defense - roll 4 or less
It should be harder to tag the more hurt you are IMO.
The second rule, he adds the number of (tag) on both cards and divides by 2 and that's how many pin saves you get. (rounding down)
If one guy has 4 tags and the other has 3, then the team gets 3 pins saves.
Hence the better tag wrestlers they are, the better they work together.
