Match Highlights:
SHIMMER returned to the Olympic Theater for Volume 47 in what turned out to be a history making night as two championships changed hands. In the main event it was the “Havok Death Machine” Jessicka Havok bringing things back full circle as she regained the SHIMMER title from “Sweet” Saraya Knight. It was in this same building in Cicero, IL (Card #1048) where Knight toppled Havok to begin her strong reign as champion coming through with six successful title defenses which tied the record shared with Jaguar Yokota when the belt was known as the LOW Women’s title. Knight was looking to make history with a successful version seven title defense, but it was not to be as a determined Havok came out on top become a two-time champion. The end of a hellacious match saw Havok deliver back-to-back chokeslams on Knight for near falls. Knight struggled to get back to her feet and was met with a crushing Havokiller by Havok resulting in the pin. Havok clutched the title belt after it was handed to her while Knight, laid down in the corner, glared at the new champion.

The SHIMMER tag team titles also changed hands in the semi-final bout as the dangerous duo of “Crazy” Mary Dobson & Courtney Rush defeated Team PAWG (Lufisto & Jordynne Grace) to win the belts. Dobson jumped Lufisto before the bell setting off a wild brawl that saw all four women battling at ringside. Rush blinded Grace with red mist while Dobson, out of view of the referee, speared Lufisto head first into the ring post. That set up Dobson rolling Lufisto back inside and hitting the Kaiju Killer for the pin. Rush and Dobson successfully blitzed Team PAWG taking not only the titles but ending their reign at zero title defenses. Both teams continued battling after the match until Dobson and Rush escaped clutching the title belts. SHIMMER promoter Dave Prazak wasted no time in ordering a title rematch between the two teams at Volume 48 back at the Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL (Card #1158).

The “Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler and her new associate Angelus Layne came out before the show and issued an open challenge for any two women to face them. Athena quickly appeared and took them up on it stating that she would be sure to bring a partner with her for the match. Baszler and Layne laughed it off, but they weren’t laughing at match time when Athena was accompanied by the returning “Punisher” Madison Eagles. The popular Australian star was put out of action by Baszler and was now looking for revenge. It was an intense bout that saw Athena nearly win it after nailing Layne with the O-Face. The finish saw Baszler trap Athena in a Knee Bar going for the submission, but an angry Eagles broke it up blasting her with a series of chair shots. She also dealt out some chair shots to Layne resulting in her and Athena being disqualified. Eagles will have another chance to extract revenge when she faces Baszler in a No DQ Match at Volume 48.

Third-generation star Tessa Blanchard made an impressive SHIMMER debut by beating fan favorite Allison Danger. Blanchard won a hard-fought bout when she hit a Hammerlock DDT followed by the Double Knee Facebreaker for the pin. Amber Gertner interviewed Blanchard afterward but she got upset with her line of questioning and threatened her until Candice LeRae intervened. It wound up with LeRae challenging Blanchard to a match at Volume 48. Earlier, LeRae joined forces with Sara Del Ray and MsChif to score a big win over “Blonde, Red and Bad Ass”, the trio of Heart of Shimmer champion Barbi Hayden, Taeler Hendrix & Kelly Klein. MsChif won it for her team when she pinned the previously unbeaten Klein with the Desecrater…Mia Yim defeated Marti Belle in a spirited battle of tag team partners. Belle showed great resilience before Yim beat her with the Package Piledriver. Belle was upset with the loss but hugged it out with Yim to applause from the crowd…Another match signed for Volume 48 is Davina Rose against “The Mountain” Vanessa Kraven. Rose, after scoring a hard-fought win over Rhia O’Reilly, spoke with Amber Gertner and said that she still needs to prove herself in SHIMMER and boldly called out Kraven who accepted the challenge…and, a battle of SHIMMER newcomers in the opener saw Shotzi Blackheart score a dominant win over Hudson Envy. Blackheart hit the Chupacabra, a running cannonball in the corner, and a Diving Senton for the pin.

Totally stoked that Crazy Mary and the Demon Assassin are now tag champs... Most definitely the coolest Shimmer pairing ever witnessed... Here's hoping they have a long reign with plenty of victims dropped in their wake...

Havok regains the top prize, but something tells me the vicious rivalry between her and Sweet Saraya has not reached its final chapter... These two women have proven they're willing to fight to the ends of the earth to be the one standing at the top... Why stop now?

Also enjoyed the illustrious talents making their debut appearances... Great wins for Blackheart and Blanchard...

Thanks for the comments Troy, AJ, Pariah and Bri. I was not expecting a double title change on the SHIMMER card but the dice decided otherwise. Crazy Mary Dobson & Courtney Rush really blitzed Team PAWG to win the titles, it was a rout that only lasted a few dice rolls. Havok vs. Knight was more epic I am happy to report. Tessa Blanchard looked good in her debut but now will be tested by Candice LeRae on the next show.

I have rolled out the first two matches on the IWA show and I should have it done and posted by the weekend if all goes well. The Quack vs. Gilbert showdown is drawing a lot of interest and even I'm not sure where it is going yet. The dice will decide the fate of both men in what I hope will be a great battle.
